Edna Cain
Edna Louise Rainwater Cain, 83, of Fountain Hills passed away late Thursday night, Nov. 2, 2006 surrounded by her family.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, Nov. 4, at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary. A graveside service was held in Texas at the Lorenzo cemetery on Monday, Nov. 6, 2006.
Born July 1, 1923 in Ralls, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Myrtle Rainwater.
Louise was twice widowed and is survived her daughter and son-in-law Marie and Gail Bounds of Scottsdale; son and daughter-in-law Richard and Vickie King of Lanett, Ala.; two brothers, Alford Rainwater of Lorenzo, Texas, and Wayne Rainwater and wife, Rosalyn of Dougherty, Texas. She was preceded in death by a brother, Willard Rainwater.
She will be greatly missed by her five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, plus her extended family at North Valley Church of Christ.
Glenn L. Kenney
Glenn L. Kenney, 82, of Charlevoix, Mich. and Fountain Hills, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.
A memorial service was held Nov. 3 at the First Congregational Church in Charlevoix, with the Reverend Mary Willis officiating. Interment was at Brookside cemetery in Charlevoix.
Glenn was born Oct. 24, 1924, in Covert, the son of Lawrence and Ida (Bostwick) Kenney. He graduated from South Haven High School in 1942, and then served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Marshall Islands.
Glenn earned a bachelor of arts from Michigan State University in 1949. On June 26, 1948, he married the former LaRue H. Leverenz in South Haven, and they made their home in Grosse Pointe Woods from 1951, until moving to Charlevoix in 1958.
Glenn owned and managed Kit Carson Lumber Company in Charlevoix until retiring in 1989.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Charlevoix and the Charlevoix Kiwanis Club. Glenn served on the hospital, Chamber of Commerce, First State Bank, and Charlevoix Public School boards. He enjoyed boating, golfing and traveling.
Glenn is survived by his wife, LaRue of Charlevoix; son, Dick (Pat) Kenney of Fountain Hills; Cheryl (Sam) Buitendorp of Horton Bay; Kim (Bob) Kierczynski of Traverse City; grandchildren, Sarah and Cara Kenney, David and Seth Buitendorp and Rebekah Moes, Trevor, Troy and Kali Kierczynski; great-grandchildren, Sterling and LaRue Moes; brother, Bill Kenney of Charlevoix; and a sister, Lois (Jack) McDonald of St. Joseph. Glenn’s sister, June Leever, preceded him in death.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
Joseph N. LeBlanc
Joseph Normand LeBlanc of Fountain Hills died Nov. 4, 2006. He was 86.
Mr. LeBlanc was born Sept. 28, 1920 in Lynn, Mass. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II and worked as a teacher and band director. He was a parishioner at Church of the Ascension in Fountain Hills.
Mr. LeBlanc is survived by his wife, Kathryn Watson LeBlanc of Fountain Hills; two sons, John Le Blanc (Della) of Scottsdale, and Robert Watson LeBlanc (Kay) of Savannah, Ga.; two daughters, Carol Hale (Jeffery) of Mesa, and Diana Morrow (Alan) of Glendale; a brother, Edmund LeBlanc (Corine) of Lynn, Mass., and a sister Phyllis Chasse of Norway, Maine; and five grandchildren, Jessica, Adam and Lauren LeBlanc and Jennifer Hale and Kristen Morrow.
Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 10 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary, 12065 Saguaro Blvd. Services will be Saturday, Nov. 11 at 10 a.m. at Church of the Ascension, 12615 Fountain Hills Blvd. Interment will be at Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Scottsdale.
In lieu of flowers the family is suggesting memorial contributions to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014.
Pat Marra
Pat Marra of Fountain Hills died Sunday, Nov. 5, with his family beside him.
Pat will be missed by his wife Barbara, his two daughters Tricia and Christie, his three grandchildren Woody, Katie and Jake, and his son-in-law Craig.
Pat, who received his Bachelors at City University of New York at Queens College and Masters at Columbia University, taught Physical Education in Harborfields public schools on Long Island for over 30 years.
Throughout his career, Pat taught hundreds of youth and coached many more in soccer and lacrosse.
Pat, an avid sports fan, loved his golf outings and will be missed by many friends and fellow golfers on the green.
His family looks forward to a Giants Superbowl victory in 2007 in Pat’s honor.
A Catholic Memorial Mass is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 10 a.m. at Church of the Ascension, 12615 N. Fountain Hills Blvd. Pat’s family asks that any donations be made to Sherman House (Hospice of the Valley) in lieu of flowers.
Nehemiah R. Prescott
Nehemiah Prescott, 18, passed away on Oct. 31, 2006 in Milwaukee, Wis.
Born in Milwaukee on Dec. 25, 1987 he was a one-time resident of Fountain Hills and a recent visitor.
Nehemiah is survived by his father, Robert Prescott of Fountain Hills, his sister, Bianca and mother Arlene Patterson of Milwaukee.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 6, at Christian Faith Fellowship Church, with interment at Graceland cemetery, Milwaukee, Wis.

Mary Ralston
Mary V. Ralston, widow of Donald T. Ralston, departed this life on Oct. 29, 2006 with the same grace and sweetness of spirit that characterized her presence in it.
She was born in Mansfield, Ohio on August 20, 1921. She resided there until 1995, at which time she and her husband moved to San Diego, Calif. When she became a widow in 2003, Mary came to live at the Fountain View Village retirement home in Fountain Hills.
From her father she inherited a keen sense for facts and figures; from her mother a profound faith in God and the endless joys of volunteerism. She was a faithful member of Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church.
Following high school graduation, Mary enrolled at Wooster College where she met Donald, who she later married. They had two children, David Ralston of Mansfield, Ohio and Bobbie Ernst of Tonto Verde. Her son-in-law is Larry L. Ernst (Captain, USN retired).
Mary’s 85 years were filled with a sincere joy for life and a marvelous positive attitude. Her love and zest for life was contagious and permeated her many roles.
She was a loving and gracious wife, mother and grandmother – always enthusiastically supportive and tender. The same energy and dedication was evident in her career – she worked for decades at the Mansfield Board of Education as a payroll and sales clerk. She was also a leader in the community.
She donated countless hours to church activities over the years, and headed various organizations such as Daughters of the American Revolution, Garden Club, Hand Bell Choir, travel clubs, theater groups, Bible studies, and was a Sunday school teacher.
Her interests and enthusiasm were endless. She loved speaking of and sharing details of her many activities and interests. Some include covered bridges, lighthouses, bells, angels, thimbles, pottery, genealogy, sewing, knitting, cooking, swimming, card games, gardening, music, photography, traveling, entertaining and she was an avid correspondent.
Mary is also survived by her granddaughters Jacqueline Carsanaro and husband Joseph of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Jennifer Rozas and husband Todd of Austin, Texas; and four great-grandchildren, Sara, Scott, Blake and Tyler. She is also survived by her dearest friend, Dr. James Hamill.
There will be a memorial service for Mary Saturday, Nov. 11, at 3 p.m. at the Fountain View Village Independent Living Chapel.

William Don Caraway
William Don Caraway, 72, a long-time resident of Fountain Hills, passed away Jan. 3, 2007.
He is survived by his wife, Nan Carolyn, of 47 years; daughter, Nancy Brumbeloe of St. Charles, Mo.; son, William Don Caraway II of Scottsdale; grandchildren, Derek Franks, Austin Franks, Ethan Brumbeloe, Hayden Caraway and David Brumbeloe.
Mr. Caraway was born Sept. 26, 1934 in Dallas, Texas. He received his B.A. from Southern Methodist University in Dallas and his master’s degree from North Texas State. He was a long-time junior high school teacher teaching English, history and coaching. He was an avid bridge and tennis player.
A graveside service was held at Flower Mound cemetery in Flower Mound, Texas, Monday, Jan. 8.

Catherine T. Cunningham
Catherine T. Cunningham, 84, of Fountain Hills died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007 at Mayo Hospital in Phoenix.
She was born Jan. 12, 1922 in Fredrick, Md. and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Cunningham is survived by one son, Rick Cunningham (Kay) of Elkton, Md.; a daughter, Judy Underhill (Michael), of St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, Charles Matthews of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and three grandchildren, Katie, Collin and Nathan.
A memorial service for Mrs. Cunningham is being held Wednesday, Jan. 10, at 2 p.m. at Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church, 13001 N. Fountain Hills Blvd.

Helen M. McMullen
Helen M. McMullen, 86, of Harrison, Ohio and a Fountain Hills visitor, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007 at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville, in 1996. Helen was born in Harrison, Ohio on March 8, 1920. She raised her family there and led a very active life enjoying many clubs and organizations in the area.
She enjoyed her trips to Fountain Hills to be with her grandchildren and to visit with everyone at her daughter’s hair salon.
She is survived by a brother and two sisters in Ohio; her daughter, Tama (Gene) Laluk of Fountain Hills; her son, Gary McMullen (Patricia) of Fruit Cove, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Jeannette, Peter and Kristin Laluk of Fountain Hills; and Shawn (Georgetta), Kelly and Casey McMullen all of Florida; and one great-grandson, Jackson.
Services will be held in Ohio.
Dolores M. Mosley
Dolores M. Mosley was called home to the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007 at the home of her daughter in Peoria, Ariz., surrounded by family and friends after a long illness with cancer.
Dolores was born in Cheboygan, Mich. on Oct. 2, 1935. She is survived by her husband Jack Mosley; daughter Tamara M. Sanchez (Joe); son Jackie Mosley (Linda); grandchildren Kathryn Vinson (Darren), Anthony Mosley (Jessica), Josef Sanchez and Lauren Sanchez; and great granddaughter Addison Vinson; sisters Lois Esh-Attebery, Carol Smith; brother Larry Esh.
She is preceded in death by parents Roy and Rose Esh and brother Ron Esh. She also leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Dolores was a long time resident of Hillsdale, Mich. and moved to Fountain Hills, in 1978. She was a homemaker and bookkeeper for her husband's construction business.
Dolores had many friends across the United States and loved to travel. She had many hobbies and interests, was an avid reader and loved to go "garage sale-ing," lovingly called by her brother-in-law Jerry "the Garage Sale Queen." She was a collector of cobalt blue glass, milk glass and tea pots but was very proud of her extensive clown collection.
A viewing was held from Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Arrowhead Funeral Center at Joy, 21000 N. 75th Ave., Glendale, Ariz.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., with viewing from 12 to 1 pm, Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007.

Marylou Riley
Marylou Riley, loving wife, companion, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away April 24, 2007 after surgery in Fountain Hills, her home for the past 20 years.
She was born on June 24, 1926, in Kent, Ohio, to the late Nathan and Mabel Scribner. She attended Kent State University where she graduated with a teaching degree in Home Economics and Physical Education.
Marylou taught school in Doylestown, Ohio, where she married Richard Riley on June 5, 1949. In 1951, the family moved to King Ferry, N.Y. to farm, and in 1976, to Rochester, N.Y. where Richard received his doctorate in psychology and general studies.
Following Richard’s death in 1987, Marylou moved to Fountain Hills.
Marylou loved life, music, travel, reading, art and most of all her family and friends. She danced throughout her youth, entertaining many with her acrobatic tap dancing. She was a charter member of the Kent Chapter of Rainbow Girls, and an Eastern Star. Her love of china painting provided her hours of pleasure and an expressive outlet for her lifelike drawings of flowers.
She leaves behind her companion Fred Capaldi; daughters, Shannan Myers, Ossining, N.Y., Cheryl Riley Pasdar, Newtown Square, Pa.; son, Roy Riley, Snowshoe, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Whitney, Brian, and Sean Myers and twins Alex and Andrew Riley; and a brother, Wildun Scribner of Cuba, N.Y.

Ray Michel
Ray Michel of Rio Verde, loving husband and father passed away May 1, 2007. He was born in Wilton, N.D. on Nov. 16, 1928 and grew up in Steele, N.D. and Bismarck, N.D.
He served in the army in WWII, and was graduated from St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn. He worked in the life insurance industry for North American Life and Casualty, Minneapolis, Minn., Life of California, San Francisco, Calif. and Security Connecticut Life, Avon, Conn.
He is survived by his wife Val; son David and his wife Kristine; daughter Joanne and her husband Tom; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at Living Water Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 5, 2007.

Gretchen C. Wolpert
Gretchen Court Wolpert, 93, of Fountain Hills, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 7, 2007.
She was born in West Chicago, Ill. on Sept. 3, 1913 and lived most of her life in New Jersey. She was a winter resident of Phoenix for 12 years and most recently lived in Columbia, S. C. before moving to Fountain Hills in May 2006.
She graduated from Stephens College, Missouri in 1932, from Drake Secretarial School, New Jersey in 1933, and from Parsons School of Design, New York, where she was Secretary to the Director of the education department.
Her life was dedicated to the love of nature, particularly ornithology, to education, and the cultural arts.
She was Educational Director for several nature organizations in New Jersey. For 10 years she was secretary to the Director of Religion at Chautauqua Cultural Institution, New York. She was an instructor of italic calligraphy as well as Director of the Madison-Chatham Adult School, New Jersey for 17 years.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Hallock, and grandson, Scott Hallock, of Fountain Hills; a son, Robert Wolpert and daughter-in-law, Oksana Odintsova; and two grandsons, Thomas John Wolpert and Peter Odintsov, of Jenkintown, Penna.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, May 12, at 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 13770 N. Fountain Hills Blvd., Fountain Hills.
