Mary J. Davis, 77, passed away October 7, 2003 in Lake Havasu City. She was born in Omaha, Nebraska on July 25, 1926.

Mary moved to Lake Havasu in January 1971 with her husband Ed Davis. Ed was a home builder and Mary ran the office duties for his company and was active as an interior designer at the same time. She was a charter member of her church, First Church of Christ Scientist of Lake Havasu City in 1971.

Mary was also of Soroptomist International of Lake Havasu City since July 1976 and a long time member of the Republican Women of Lake Havasu. Even though Mary was an active business woman, she firmly centered her life on her family and her church.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Niles “Ed” Davis; daughter, Linda Davis Peairs of Chandler, Arizona; sons, Alan Davis and Scott Davis, both of Omaha, Nebraska; brother, Jack Robinson of Farina, Illinois; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Mary was a warm and caring person, always ready to do her share and a little more. In the 11 years since retirement, Mary and Ed traveled extensively in the fifth wheel trailer and enjoyed that life together.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held at the family’s home 920 Fremont Ln.from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Saturday, October 11, 2003.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cedars Camps for Youth, 1314 Parkview Valley, Manchester, Missouri 63011-4206 or Hospice of Havasu, PO Box 597, Lake Havasu City, Arizona 86405-0597.

Wayne Derrick Buffington, 84, passed away September 19, 2003 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He was born to Eli & Gertrude (Derrick) Buffington on April 27, 1919 in Bunker, Missouri.

Wayne moved to Lake Havasu 2 years ago from San Diego, California. He worked as a buyer for Ametek in El Cajon, California for 25 years. He was an avid fan of horse racing.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Marcella; son Scott Buffington of Lake Havasu and one daughter Becky Thurman of Wichita, Kansas.

Wayne will be dearly missed by all his family, friends and anyone who knew him.

Marie Alice Wachter, Nebraska native and Lake Havasu resident, age 88, died Saturday, September 27th, 2003.

She is survived by her 2 children, 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren,many nieces and nephews, extended family and her devoted dog Max.

Marie was regarded as a woman of total selflessness and extraordinary call to help, love, motivate and comfort others. She was devoted to cultivating family ties and relationships. Marie was know for her quick sense of humor and her generosity to all. She was "Granny Goose" to many and "Angel" to us all.

Visitation will be held at Lietz-Fraze Chapel on Wednesday, October 1st, 2003 from 8:00 to 9:30 AM. Graveside services will be held the same day at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens, Lake Havasu City, AZ; at 10:00 AM, with Pastor Tom Dunham officiating.

Gregory Kent Scott, 55, passed away November 6, 2003 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He was born to Richard & Bernice (Holt) Scott on February 28, 1948 in Redlands, CA.

Greg made Lake Havasu his home 16 years ago, moving here from Santa Ana, CA where he retired as manager from Pacific Bell after 22 years of service.

Mr. Scott was a proud veteran in the US Army, a member of the Marine Corp League, and a volunteer as a Reserve Police for the Santa Ana Police Department. He also worked on the Board of Adjustments, the Special Olympics, the Lake Havasu Teen Pregnancy Prevention Coalition and was Chairman of the Shoreline Initiative.

Greg is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Diana; sons, Christopher Sprague-Scott of Orange, CA and Joshua Sprague-Scott and his wife Christine of Lake Havasu; daughter, Heather Scott of Lake Havasu; mother, Bernice Scott of Golden Shores, AZ; brother Mark Scott and his wife Terry of Golden Shores, AZ; sisters, Valerie Lesiczka and her husband John of Long Beach, CA, Rhonda Barnes and her husband Bob of Tucson, AZ and Marsha Cotner and her husband, Mike of Tucson, AZ; and one grandchild, Alyssa Sprague.

He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Scott.

A memorial services will be held Tuesday, November 11, 4:30 PM at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Chad Garrison officiating.

Marlyn “Al” LaRue Tyler, 68, passed away on October 10th, 2003 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.He was born on November 6th, 1934 in Iowa City, Iowa.

Al moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ; 3 weeks ago from Casper, Wyoming. He was a park manager for Echo Lodge Resort in Parker Dam, CA; for 3 years.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis Tyler of Lake Havasu City, AZ; son Stephen Tyler of Eagle River, AK; daughter Melissa Schoenwolf of Mills, WY; half sister Sandra K. Wilson of Lakeside, CA; step-mother Doris Tyler of Lakeside, CA; grandchildren David Tisha Natalie, Ryanne, Karmin, John, Anthony, Brittany, 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Vernon and Ivadell Tyler, son David Tyler, grandson Tyler and one great granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held at Lake Havasu RV Resort, 3829 London Bridge Rd., eastside club house, Lake Havasu City, Az.; on Wednesday, October 15th, 2003 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Richard Rounds officiating.

Helen Geralyn “Jerry” Payer, 85, passed away October 8, 2003 in Las Vegas after a brief illness. She was born April 19, 1918 on Pioneer Place in Coffee County, Kansas to Victor and Helen Payer.

As a child and teenager she enjoyed competing in Spelling Bees and 4H projects (especially the fat calves division) at both the County and State levels. After high school graduation she worked for the Santa Fe Railroad in Passenger Division. After marrying Ralph (Pete) Bonfield she moved to Shawnee Mission, Kansas where she worked as a Realtor for 25 years, was very active at Merriam Christian Church in the Madonna Shrine No. 21 of Eastern Star and was a Past President and Life Member of the Crestview PTA.

Upon moving to Lake Havasu in 1984, Jerry enjoyed volunteering at the Hospital and as a Crisis Line counselor. In addition, she served on the Board of Directors at New Horizons, was active in TOPS Chapter 437 and Kansas Sunflower, Inc. In her spare time she enjoyed playing cards, bunco and other games – any time and any place.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Eugene and Wayne, granddaughter Liana and ex-husband, Pete. She is survived by her daughters, Vicki (Chuck) Lindtwed of Lake Havasu and Sandra (Bill) McClellan of Shawnee Mission, Kansas; granddaughter Amy Proctor of Lake Havasu; sister Claudine Fitzgerald of Westminster, Maryland; stepdaughter Beverly (Keith) Stanwix of Topeka, Kansas; sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many wonderful friends. She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions in her name to New Horizons, the Lake Havasu Special Olympics or the Presbyterian Church Aid to Seminary Students Fund. Services will be held at Community Presbyterian Church on Thursday, October 16, 11:00 AM.

Interment will be at the French Ridge Cemetery in Coffey County, Kansas at a later date.
