Joseph Michael DeRohwer, 50, passed away October 3, 2003 in Kingman, Arizona. He was born to Joseph & Dorothy (Elmer) DeRohwer on May 2, 1953 in St. George, Utah.

“Michael” as he was known to his family and friends moved to Scottsdale, Arizona 20 years ago from Susanville, California. For the past 35 years, he worked installing cabinets. Some of that time he worked for Pierre Langue in Tempe, Arizona.

Michael was a proud veteran in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam war and he was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Leslie; son, Jason Michael DeRohwer; mother, Dorothy Kalimber; sisters, Jeanette Jaques, Barbara DeRohwer and JoAnn Milman all of Scottsdale, Arizona.

Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.

Sheryl J. LaLande, 44, passed away on October 8th, 2003 in Anchorage, Alaska. She was born on January 2nd, 1959 in Portland, OR.

Sheryl moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ; 33 years ago from Seattle, WA. She was a clerk at Dunlaps in Lake Havasu City, AZ; since opening day. Prior to Dunlaps, she was employed at K-Mart, Lake Havasu City, AZ; for 10 years.

She is survived by her daughter Katie Mortenson and husband Josh of Twentynine Palms, CA; son Jason Dean of Groves, TX; parents Andrew P and Ann LaLande of Etna, CA; brothers Dale LaLande and wife Marty of Lake Havasu City, AZ; David LaLande and wife Kathy of Roseberg, OR; sisters Roni Witter and husband Mark of Dalbo, MN; Paula Gulliford and husband Jim of Phoenix, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Sheryl’s life will be held at the home of Dale & Marty LaLande, 1856 Martinique Drive, Lake Havasu City, AZ; on Sunday, October 12th, 2003 at 3:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to the Western Arizona Humane Society, 1100 Empire Dr., Lake Havasu City, AZ; 86404

Fred G. Marquardt, 87, passed away on October 8th, 2003 at Lake Hills Inn in Lake Havasu City, AZ. He was born on July 3rd, 1916 in Sioux City, Iowa

Fred moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ; 1 year ago from Canistota, SD. He was self employed for 50 years as a well driller in Canistota, SD.

He is survived by daughters Maureen Oltmanns and Sharel Wieman both of Monroe, SD; brothers Walter and Butch Marquardt both of Denver, CO; 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and loving companion Elaine Sundin of Lake Havasu City, AZ.

Inurnment will take place at Canistota Cemetery in Canistota, South Dakota on Saturday, October 18th, 2003

Contributions may be made in his name to Hospice of Havasu, P.O. Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ; 86405.

John M. Robinson Jr., 77, passed away October 2, 2003 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He was born to John & Amelia (Gimse) Robinson on February 20, 1926 in Virginia, Minnesota.

John moved to Lake Havasu 20 years ago from Aurora, Minnesota. He was a foreman for the Erie Mining Co. in Hoyt Lakes, Minnesota for 30 years. He was also a proud veteran in the US Navy during WWII.

Mr. Robinson is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Pauline; son, John N. Robinson of Seymour, Indiana; daughters, Paula S. Robinson of Eveleth, Minnesota, Connie Erickson of Mesa, Arizona and Wendy Boucher of Zimmerman, Minnesota. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

John was a loving family man and a great friend to all who knew him.

Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.

Mary Jane Opaczewski, 86, passed away October 4, 2003 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. She was born on November 3, 1916 in Toledo, Ohio.

Mary Jane made Lake Havasu her home 8 years ago, moving here from Toledo where she worked for Dura Corporation as an assembler for 35 years.

Mrs. Opaczewski was past president in Buddy Frankowski Post of VFW in Toledo, Ohio, VFW Post 9401 in Lake Havasu, Chaplain at the American Legion and a Red Cross Volunteer in Toledo. Mary Jane was also an avid bowler, a member of Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church as well as being active in various groups with the church.

She is survived by her loving family, son, Robert J. Drust and his wife Doris of Lake Havasu; grandson, Robert J. Drust II of Monrovia, California; granddaughter, Jennifer L. Splaver of Phoenix, Arizona; one great granddaughter, Michelle Splaver of Phoenix; three great grandsons, Scott Splaver of Phoenix and twins Robert III and Paul Drust of Monrovia, California.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John.

Rosary will be held Thursday, October 9, 7:00 PM at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home. A memorial mass will be Friday, October 10, 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church. Father Michael Deptula will officiate.

Interment services will take place at a later date in Toledo, Ohio.

Virgil Arthur Francis, 85, passed away on October 5th, 2003 at Havasu Regional Medical Center in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He was born on February 6th, 1918 in Clear Lake, Wisconsin.

Virgil moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ; 30 years ago from Burbank, CA. He worked for the Department of Defense as a Quality Assurance Manager. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy WWII and was also a member of the V.F.W. Post 940l, American Legion Post 8l and the Eagles.

He is survived by his daughter Shirley Wells and husband Stan of Lake Havasu City, AZ; daughter in law Gail Francis of Lake Havasu City, AZ; grandchildren Anthony Lillio and wife Luisa, Anita Louise Wilkens and husband Tom, Jennifer Lynn McElroy and husband Tim, Sean Johnson and wife Robin, Ronald Francis and wife Tammy, great grandchildren Anthony Jr, Matthew, James, Kaitlyn, Preston, Jessica, Shane, Devyn, Madison and Allie. He was preceded in by his son Ron, his wife Cathy and his 6 brother and sisters, Ronald, Louise,Margery, Douglas, Dorothy and Genevieve.

James Nelson Stevenson, 86, passed away September 30, 2003 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He was born to Nelson & Cora (Bauguess) Stevenson on October 28, 1916 in New Boston, Illinois.

James made Lake Havasu his home 25 year ago, moving here from East Moline, Illinois where he worked for International Harvester as a drop hammer operator for 28 years.

Mr. Stevenson is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 68 years, Vesta; son, Michael J. Stevenson of Lake Havasu; daughters, Judi A. Bush of Lake Havasu and Wendi J. Whitson of Rock Island, Illinois; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his two sisters, Juanita and Margaret.

James' two favorite baseball teams were the Cubs and the Diamondbacks. He will especially be remembered for how much he cherished his family and friends.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 11, 2:00 PM at Lietz-Fraze Chapel.

The family has asked that donations go to Hospice of Havasu, PO Box 511, Lake Havasu City, Arizona 86405. For your convenience, donation envelopes are available at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.

Interment will take place at a later date in Rock Island, Illinois.
