Lloyd Wayne Van Wormer
Lloyd Wayne Van Wormer, 73, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, in Kingman. He was a native of Arizona and was born to Lloyd and Lolita Van Wormer on May 8, 1937, in Cottonwood.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Patsy Van Wormer; sons, Trent (Tracy) Van Wormer of Meadview, and Craig Van Wormer of Tucson; daughter, Colleen (Ron) Betzing of Chandler; sister, Carol (Bill) Reed of Glendale; stepsons, Angel Perea and Joe John (Victoria) Perea of Las Vegas; and David (Laura) Perea of Laveen, Ariz.; stepdaughter, Diana (James) Moua of Buckeye; 19 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Henry Silva of Kingman; brother-in-law, Gene (Dorothy) Silva of Las Vegas; sisters-in-law, Yvonne (Joe) Waits-Robinson of Casa Grande, Sandy (Elno) Roundy and Teresa (Dave) Perry of Kingman, and Judy Silva of Chandler; one aunt, Anne Moore of Phoenix; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Lloyd grew up in Chino Valley on his family's farm. He often spoke about growing his strawberries as a young boy and selling them to the neighbors for 10-cents a basket so he could go to the store and buy a grapette soda.
He graduated from Prescott High School in 1954; was involved in FFA, student council member, played football, basketball and track and was a member of the Slide-rule Club. He was an avid outdoorsman who liked to hunt, fish and camp where his family would get together. Truth be known, it was "Boys Weekend Away." Lloyd attended the University of Arizona - "Go Wildcats!" - and received his degree in Electrical Engineering in June 1960; he later attended Pima College in Tucson and received his real estate license in 1979.
Lloyd was a true veteran who loved his country and the American Flag. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1957 to 1962, when he received his honorable discharge. He received special training at Camp Roberts, Calif., to be a radiological monitor instructor.
In 1956, he went to work for Mountain Bell in Phoenix. He worked in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tucson and Flagstaff and was known throughout the state. He was on the original committee that started the Arizona Bluestake Program, attended the Bell System Technical Management and Instructor Training School in Denver, Tucson and Phoenix, and Lisle, Ill.; he held an Engineering "O" Rating. He retired at 48 from U.S. West in 1986 after nearly 30 years of service as the distribution manager of Flagstaff and Tucson. He later decided to do contracting and worked for Mountain Ltd. from 1986 to 1992 as the senior project engineer in Tucson, contracted to U.S. West, Tucson; Contel of Virginia-Harrisonburg; GTE-Mount Vernon, Washington; and Citizens Utilities/Frontier Communications in Kingman. He retired from contracting in 2005.
Lloyd was very active and dedicated to the communities he lived in. He enjoyed coaching his two sons, Trent and Craig, was an player agent, elected president of the Little League in Tucson, elected president of the Kachina Club of Telephone Pioneers of America, appointed Mountain Bell representative and elected as a member of the board of directors, and the chairman of the Project Committee of Sunrise Rotary Club. Lloyd led a Webelo Boy Scout pack, was appointed Mountain Bell representative and member of the New Industry Committee of the Chamber of Commerce, was an Elks member for 27 years and a lifetime member of the American Legion and member of the VFW.
Lloyd was full of life, was a great storyteller and great storymaker. Everyone who knew him loved him for his sense of humor, love of country and his firm beliefs. "Go Wildcats!"
A memorial service will be held in his honor at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 22, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home, 1701 Sycamore Ave., Kingman, with a celebration of his life to follow at the American Legion, Third Street and Oak in downtown Kingman.

Mildred W. Page
Mildred W. Page, 85, of Emmett, Idaho, formerly of the Kingman area, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010, at Emmett, Idaho.
Cremation is under the direction of Potter Funeral Chapel, Emmett.
Dolores L. Seroy
Dolores L. Seroy, 80, passed away Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010. She died in the Joan and Diana Hospice House in her hometown of Kingman. Her death was caused by complication of cancer.
Dolores was born on June 3, 1930, in San Francisco to Claude and Ruth Briggs. She attended Coachella Valley Union High where she "met" one of her lifelong avocations, tennis.
After high school, Dolores moved to Kansas City, Mo. There she taught dancing at Arthur Murray Dance Studio, where she met and married Winn Seroy on March 17, 1951.
During the decade of the '50s, Dolores and Winn had two sons, Merrill and Keith. She concentrated on raising a good family. The '60s saw the beginning of her conservative political involvement to which she was extremely devoted even up to the time of her death. She was active in numerous campaigns, causes and conservative organizations.
During the late '60s through the late '90s, Dolores renewed her interest in tennis, sometimes playing every day. Her preference was the game of doubles, and she was a fierce competitor.
During this time, Dolores and Winn resided in Solana Beach, Calif., and then Santa Ana, Calif. While in Santa Ana, Dolores took a job as volunteer coordinator at Santa Ana Tustin Community Hospital (now Western Medical Center). She ran the initial orientation for hospital candy-stripers as well as coordinated their schedules.
Also in Santa Ana, Dolores had the opportunity to serve a 1-year term on the Orange County Grand Jury, fiscal year 1992-1993. It was on this Grand Jury term that Dolores first became intensely interested in the specter of illegal immigration. She remained passionate in her beliefs on this as well.
In 1999, Dolores and Winn moved to Kingman. After settling, Dolores became active in the Kingman Republican Women's Club. Soliciting contributions from members and other conservative writers, Dolores became editor and publisher of the KRW Patriot, a newsletter that went into its 11th year, won awards and gained national recognition among Republican women's clubs.
In the fall of 2009, Dolores began attending College Park Southern Baptist Church. As was typical of the balance of her life, Dolores, who never did anything halfway, became as active in church life as her age and health would permit. She attended church twice weekly and participated in two small-group Bible studies weekly. Even during her last few weeks, Bible studies came to her by way of a few dedicated and compassionate saints of College Park.
Dolores is survived by her husband of 59-1/2 years, Winn; by her elder son, Merrill of Thousand Palms, Calif.; and by her younger son, Keith of Corona, Calif.
There will be a memorial service for Dolores Seroy at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 26. The service will be held at College Park Baptist Church, 1990 Jagerson Ave., Kingman, AZ 86409.
Please do not send or bring flowers to the memorial service. Instead, if you wish, you may make a charitable contribution in honor of Dolores to the College Park Baptist Church.
Darline Frances Mathews
Darline Frances Mathews, 86, was born Dec. 25, 1923, and was deceased on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at home in Kingman with family by her side.
She is survived by her husband, Charles "Chuck" Mathews; four children, Merry Lee (Lyle) Davis, Sharon K. Gerdes, John M. (Carolyne) Karnofel and Rodney A. (Candy) Karnofel; five stepchildren, Sharon (Harold) Bell, Charlene (John) Magneson, Karen (Bruce) Bosserman, Janice (Terry) Wolverton and Michelle (John) Curtin; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Georgia Morfitt; her brother, Richard Morfitt; and stepdaughter, Patricia Sharp.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Leonard Michael Gadbaw
Leonard Michael Gadbaw, 53, of Kingman died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, in Kingman. He was born Nov. 8, 1956, in Minneapolis.

Nicholas K. Weber
Nicholas K. Weber, age 23, passed away Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010, from natural causes. The angels grew lonely and called him to play.
He is survived by his father, Ron; sister, Breanna; grandparents, Bob and Janet; aunt, Laurie (Mike) Richardson; close cousins, Dominic (Kristina), Savannah (Ignacio); and other relatives.
Nicholas was so loved by his family and so many friends that he loved.
We will miss you forever Nicholas and you will always be our angel.
Ruben Navarette Alvarez
Ruben Navarette Alvarez, 84, of Kingman died Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, in Kingman. He was born Oct. 9, 1925, in Valle De Guadalupe, Mexico.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. with the Rosary at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 15, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home, 1701 Sycamore Ave. The service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at Mountain View Cemetery, 1301 Stockton Hill Road.
Erik Glotkowski
Erik Glotkowski of Golden Valley passed away Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, in Sacramento, Calif. Erik was born Jan. 14, 2008, in Kingman.
Erik wasn't the average 2-year-old. He was really smart, caring and loving. He loved fixing things with his father and helping his mother around the house. He also enjoyed watching Wow Wow Wubbzy with his brothers. No matter how bad of a day you were having, Erik would have you smiling in no time.
Erik was preceded in death by the following: grandmother, Jewel Glotkowski; great-grandparents, Hubert "Bill" Robertson and Virginia Knizevski; great-great-grandparents, Clifford and Jewel McCoy, Margorie Ackerman and Hubert Robertson; great-uncle, Edward Guillot; great-great-uncle, Marion McCoy; and great-great-aunt, Katherine Stigen.
Erik is survived by the following: his parents, Jesse Glotkowski and Kimberley Thomas; brothers, Jesse Jr., Clinton and Isaiah Glotkowski; sisters, Ashley and Alyssa Thomas; uncle, Nic Glotkowski Jr. and companion Kay Ross; aunts, Brittany Pickering, Katrina Pickering, Elizabeth Pickering and Karen Pickering; grandfather, Nic Glotkowski; grandmother, Kathy Pickering; great-grandparents, Viola Guillot and John Guillot; great uncles, Donald Earley and wife Heide, John Guillot and wife Peggy, Ronald Earley, James Guillot, Rod Glotkowski and Guy Glotkowski. He is also survived by cousins, Layla, Josh, Hailey, Rosalie, Jewelie, Kori, Samuel, Shawn, Joseph, Daniel, Nate, Cassie, Sarah and Leona; and great-great aunts, Nancy McCoy and Laura Johnson. Erik was a true blessing and will be forever missed.
Services for Erik will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, at Canyon Community Church, 3720 W. Harvard St., Kingman.
Florence Leone Collins
Our mother, Florence Collins, left us for paradise on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010. She was born March 6, 1919, and spent the last 50 years of her life in the state she loved the most, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irv Collins, and her daughter, Leona Griffin.
She is survived by her sons, Robert Oppel (Phyllis) and Victor Oppel (Debra); also by her daughters, Gail Jackson (Joseph), Dolores Albo and Linda Papillon (Jay); and an informally adopted daughter, Billie Jean Connors (Paul). Billie Jean was especially helpful to the family in our mother's last years. She also leaves many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would also like to thank everyone at Cerbat Nursing Home and the Sunshine Assisted Living Home who were so good to our mother in the past 18 months.
No services are scheduled. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Bridgeport, Conn.
Harry L. May
Harry L. May, 84, of Kingman passed away Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, in Kingman. He was born May 18, 1926, in Sebring, Ohio, and came to Kingman 11 years ago from San Bernardino, Calif.
Harry was an air traffic controller at Norton Air Force Base. He was an EAA Chapter 765 member at the Kingman Airport and a member of the Moose Lodge. He loved to dance and fly airplanes. He served in the Navy during World War II.
Harry is survived by his son, Raymond Clyde May of Highland, Calif.; two daughters, Wendy Jo May of Las Vegas and Martha Jane May of Kingman; four granddaughters, Crystal Hope Bouschet of Kingman, Tiffany Renee Bouschet of Shelton, Wash., Ashley Marie Bouschet of Kingman and Nicole Williams of Utah; two grandsons, Raymond Michael May of Las Vegas and Peter Allen May of Las Vegas; and three great-grandchildren, Timothy John Bouschet of Kingman, April Marie Twitchell of Kingman and Dyllan Williams of Utah.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home.
Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. PST on Thursday, Nov. 18, at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, Calif.
Jerry Ambrose
Jerry Ambrose went to be with our Lord on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010. He was born Dec. 20, 1937, in Scranton, Pa.
He leaves behind his wife, Beth Ambrose; his son, Michael Ambrose; two daughters, Evelyn Ambrose and Donna Dolan; grandchildren, Michelle Boening, Chesare Vogel, Casey Shepard, Haley Dolan, Ryan Dolan, Andrew Dolan and Hannah Dolan; and three great-grandchildren.
He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1955 and served three tours in Vietnam. He received two Purple Hearts. He retired from the Marine Corps after 31 years of service as Captain Ambrose.
He moved to Kingman in 1991 and worked as office manager for the Department of Economic Security. He was chaplain of the Marine Corps League, Detachment 887, and VFW Post 3316. He was instrumental in the Kingman Veterans' Memorial at Locomotive Park. He was inducted into the Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame in 2006.
Jerry was program director for Route 66 Rotary, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, president of the Mohave Community College Board and Citizen of the Year in 2009. He dedicated himself to community service and helping the veterans. His life was his legacy, and we were fortunate to share that with him. His memory will always be with us.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 24, at Grace Lutheran Church, 2101 Harrison St., Kingman. His funeral will be held at 10:40 a.m. Monday, Oct. 25, at the Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd., Boulder City, NV 89005.
In lieu of flowers, it would be Jerry's wish to donate to a veterans organization.
