Joseph Karl Cole

Joseph Karl Cole, 27, of White Mountain Lakes died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, in Lakeside. Karl was born May 23, 1983, in Homestead, Fla. to Glen Jameson and Carline Cole.
He was an amazing artist who loved to draw. He loved all sports, especially basketball. He was employed for the Arizona Department of Corrections Winslow Unit for five years. A devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend he will be missed by all.
He is survived by his wife Claryn Cole of White Mountain Lakes; children Brooke and Dathan also of White Mountain Lakes; mother Carline (Fred Beverage) Cole of N.M.; brothers Gordon (Samantha) Myers of Ok., Mitchell Myers of Pinetop; sister Karlli Cole of Flagstaff; grandparents Richard and Faye Cole of Pinetop; nephews Mitchell Myers of Pinetop and Damon Myers of Ok.
A viewing will be held from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, at the Owens Livingston Mortuary, White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th St. in Show Low. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, also at the mortuary.

Wren Cheney

Wren Cheney of Whiteriver entered into rest Aug. 24, 2010, at the PHS Indian Service in Whiteriver.
He was born Jan. 2, 1930, in Whiteriver.
Arnold is survived by his wife of 50 years Anita Cheney; son Wilfred Cheney; daughters Caroline Cheney, Andrita Cheney, Karen Cheney, Carol Mae Edwards Dahkoshay; brother Rustin Cheney Sr. and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many extended family.
Wren's body will be brought home for a two-night wake at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, at his residence (481 N. River Rd) in Whiteriver. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at the Canyon Day Miracle Church in Whiteriver with Bishop Leroy Tate officiating. Interment will be at the Whiteriver Cemetery.

Bonna C. Owens

Bonna C. Owens, 79, of Las Vegas, Nev. and formerly of Mesa died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010.
She was born March 30, 1931, in Pinedale but spent most of her childhood in Mesa and graduated from Mesa High School in 1949. She married her eternal companion, Mervin Owens, on May 1, 1951 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. She loved her family and her religion. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held many positions in the church. She was very kind, gentle and sensitive. Her only occupation was as a mother.
She is preceded in death by her husband and grandson Aaron Braxton Casad.
She is survived by her sons James N. Owens (Susan) of Nev., Dale Owens (Kyle) of Ariz. and daughter Elaunna Casad (Bryce) of Utah; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and brothers Doyle Cheney (Mazie) and Darrell (Theresa).
Funeral services were held Aug. 28, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 745 N. Val Vista Rd. in Mesa. Interment was held in Clay Springs following the service.

Katie Ray Brown

Katie Ray Mason Brown, 78, passed away at her home in Overgaard with her loving family around her on August 25, 2010.
She was born in Boise, Idaho to Walter B. and Lorena Mason on April 3, 1932, and later spent 30 years in Mesa, AZ. Katie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent her time as a homemaker and selling Real Estate.
Katie married Donald "Don" Brown in Logan, UT and was married for 58 years. She is survived by her Husband Donald Brown, three children: David S. (JennaVee) Brown of Mesa, Cynthia Lynn (Michael) Marble of Santa Barbara, CA, and Kimberly Kay Brown of Mesa, her Baby brother Kenneth Mason, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents: Walter and Lorena Mason, and her younger brother, Walter Blair Mason . A visitation will be held Monday, August 30, 2010 at 7:00 PM at the Heber LDS Chapel. A viewing will be held Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 9:00 AM with the funeral service following at 10:00 also at the Heber LDS Chapel. The interment will follow the funeral services at the Heber Cemetery.

Marie Lee Henry

Loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend Marie Lee Henry, 81, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010 in Phoenix.
She was born Dec. 31, 1928, in Cibecue to Oscar Lee and Mollie Lupe Lee. Marie lived in Show Low for 11 years working as a maid, and also worked on the reservation for six years as a care provider. Marie and her husband Raymond helped to start the foundation for the Cibecue Miracle Church in 1961. She loved to cook; especially traditional meals.
She is survived by her children Jonathan Henry, Lambert Henry Sr., Vertie Enriquez and Chet Henry; 13 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren; brothers and sister Ameda Lee Haven, Nell Cook, Mosiah Lee, Grant Lee, Sr., Larson Chatlin, James Chatlin, Knutson Chatlin and McFarlin Chatlin; son-in-law Fernando Enriquez; daughters-in-law Dioma Henry and Tina Henry.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Henry; children Marvin Henry, Gertie Henry and Baby Girl Henry; mother Mollie Lee; father Oscar Lee; brothers Peter Lee, Van Lee, Riley Lee and Bronson Chatlin; grandchildren Chris Henry, Marciano Enriquez and Lamberta Henry.
A wake was held Aug. 27, at the family residence in Cibecue. Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 29, at the Cibecue Miracle Church with the burial at the Red Mountain Ridge Cemetery.

Joshua Thomas Carter

Joshua Thomas Carter, 29, died near his home Aug. 28, 2010 in Show Low Pines. He was born Sept. 26, 1980, in Rexburg, Idaho to Laura (Allsop) and Joe Carter. He attended school in Pocatello, Idaho until he moved to Arizona in 1993 at the age of 13 where he continued his education. He was always interested in learning new things and meeting new people.
In 1998 he married Christina Carter and began a journey through life that would take him many places. He loved to drive trucks and though he had many occupations, driving was his passion. Josh was a kind, gentle and loving man, always protective of those he cared about. He would help anybody who needed anything.
A wonderful father, husband, brother, and friend, he will be dearly missed by all whose lives and hearts he touched. He was taken from this earth to soon to fulfill the many dreams he had. Leaving behind three beautiful children in whose hearts he will always remain.
Josh is survived by his wife Christina Carter; sons Eric and Joshua Jr.; daughter Alicia; parents Laura Allsop and Joe Carter; in-laws Tammy and Harold Slater; brothers John Johnson, Jeramy Carter, John Slater; sisters Laura Walton, Joann Carter, Mary and Jamie Slater; 10 nieces and nephews and many other family members.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Grover and June Willden; father-in-law Joseph Oliveira.
A celebration of life will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at Rumors Cocktail Lounge.
Memorial contributions made directly to his family, during this difficult time would be greatly appreciated.

Wanda Norene Shadle

Wanda Norene Shadle, 79, of Pinetop died Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at her residence. She was born Aug. 31, 1930, in the front bedroom of the ranch house in Liberty to George Edward and Theo Irene (Shepard) Walls.
She was raised and attended school in Phoenix, graduating from North Phoenix High School. She married Don Shadle July 16, 1948, in Phoenix. She worked as a bookkeeper for Don's construction business and they lived in several places before moving to Pinetop in 1961. She had taught teens in Calvary Baptist Church in Linda Vista, Calif. and helped with the Good News Choir. Wanda had been church secretary and Sunday School teacher in Kauai, Hawaii, San Diego, Calif. and Pinetop. She had also worked as a volunteer on the switchboard at Navapache Medical Center. She and her family were charter members of the First Baptist Church of Pinetop. Wanda wanted everyone to know Jesus and that God loved them. She was the best wife and mother.
Survivors include her husband Don; three daughters Kristin Ann Miller of Columbus, Ohio, Dawnene Lee Higgins of Maui, Hawaii and Debra Sue Shadle of Payson; son,Mark Don Shadle of Pinetop; nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 1, at the First Baptist Church of Pinetop. Burial followed at Lakeside Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Black's Mortuary of Show Low.

Prentice Randy Bread

Prentice Randy Bread of Whiteriver went into eternal rest Aug. 30, 2010, in Mesa. He was born July 8, 1949, in Whiteriver.
Prentice is survived by his sisters Louella Riley, Roxie Nachu, Peralta Kasey, Catherine Tointigh; brothers Navack Armstrong, Vernasto Armstrong, Armond Armstrong, Dickson Armstrong, Julius Armstrong; many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father: Yale Bread; mother Bessie Mosby Bread; sisters Antoinette Johnson, Geraldine Suttle, Annabelle Burnette.
A two night wake will start at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 6, at Louella Riley's residence (Daisy Ave.) in Canyon Day. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the Canyon Day Miracle Church in Canyon Day, AZ with Bishop Leroy Tate officiating. Interment will be at the Canyon Day Cemetery.

Grace Ellen Jesperson DeSpain

Grace died peacefully from this life the morning of Sept. 1, 2010, after a gradual decline in health. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family during the last days of her life.
Grace was born in Chula Vista, Calif. but moved several times in her childhood. She has spent most of her life as an Arizonan. She enjoyed singing, sewing, cooking, reading, watching movies, playing rummy, caring for cats and dogs, playing with her grand-kids, and baking. In 1993, she served an honorable mission with her husband, Earl. Since that time she continued to be an outstanding missionary always sharing her testimony and giving away Books of Mormon. She was a fantastic wife of almost 59 years. Grace raised six children in the White Mountains of Arizona. She was an astonishing mother, loving grandmother and a proud great-grandmother.
She is survived by her wonderful husband, Earl; her six children Earlene Owsley, who loved her singing, Gary, who adored her tenacious personality and zeal for life, Ken, who claimed that she never gave up; Tamara Pogue, who admired her sense of style; Brad, who appreciated her loving concern for everyone; and Norvin, who couldn't get enough of her bread.

Peter Padia Marquez

Peter Padia Marquez, 82, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, in St. Johns. He was born June 4, 1928, in Concho to Manuel Marquez and Esilina Padia Marquez.
Mr. Marquez was a Korean War Veteran and also a welder for N.T.S., retiring in 1993. He was a faithful man and attended mass regularly throughout his life.He was a devoted Catholic. "Dear Pete, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, friend, you will be missed. Your love will forever be in our hearts and the sound of your infectious giggle and the shuffling of your boot clad feet will forever be in our ears. We love you."
Mr. Marquez is survived by his daughters Marti M. (Ron) Espriu of Sequim, Wash.; Maryanna L. (Richard) Morris of St. Johns; Frances M. (Todd) Kurtz, Show Low; 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 22 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jennie Perez Marquez.

Finley Van Tenijieth

Finley Van Tenijieth entered into rest Aug. 31, 2010, in Show Low. He was born March 20,1936, in Whiteriver. Finley was a bronc rider in his heydays.
He enjoyed planting trees of any kind and was a super landscaper and had a green thumb. He worked various jobs from sawmills, carpentry, bartender and loved working at Bashas' which was his last employer. He will be dearly missed by all, but never forgotten.
He is survived by his wife Ramona Carroll Tenijieth; children Valencia T. Chissay, Rosita Tenijieth, Merna Tenijieth, Crucinta T. Wycliffe, Vanta T. Preston, Manuel Tenijieth, Romero Tenijieth, Ramirez Tenijieth Sr., Ray Davis of Las Vegas, Nev.; sisters Amelia Shipp, Marjorie Harrina, Velta Manuel; brother Wesley Tenijieth Sr.; 33 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and numerous friends and relatives.
A wake was held Sept. 9, at his residence (817 N. First St.) in Whiteriver. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Open Bible Lutheran Church in Whiteriver with Pastor Joel Sutton officiating. Interment will be at the Whiteriver Cemetery.

Louis ‘LB’ Warner

Louis "LB" Warner, 72, went to be face-to-face with Jesus Sept. 4, 2010. He was born Dec.19, 1937 in Meridan, Kan. to Charles and Helen Warner. LB came to Safford in 1978 and has lived in Eagar since 1993. He was in direct sales by trade and preacher of the gospel by commission. Preaching the gospel was his favorite thing to do. He was a much-loved husband, father, brother, and friend. LB loved God and his children, both biological and gifted to him.
He is survived by his beloved wife Terri; sons Louis B. (Michelle) Warner Jr. of Mo., Micheal (Lisa) Warner of Phoenix; Scott (Carli) Warner of Safford, Joshua Warner of Eagar, Randy McCormick of Eagar; daughters Pennie (Dan) Taylor of Mo.; Susan Luchenta of Phoenix; "his girl" sister Char (Marty) Wagoner of Pinetop; brothers Jerry (Mary) Warner, Daryl Warner, and Bryan (Trish) Warner; 14 grandchildren Arianne (Shane) Smith, Jacob and Joel Taylor, McKenzie and Morgan Warner, Brendyn, Sage, Cassandra, Vanessa, Hayden, Jordan, Isaiah, Josiah, and Trinity; and many much-loved nieces, nephews and friends.
LB was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Donovan.
A memorial service will be held at noon Oct. 16, at the Warner home in Eagar.
