Kirk J. Busch
July 02, 1952 - May 07, 2004

Kirk James Busch, 51, of Cottonwood died May 7. He was born July 2, 1952 in Hialeah, Florida.
He was a graduate of North Allegheny High School and the University of Pittsburgh.
Prior to his disability, he was construction superintendent for Shapell Industries.
Kirk volunteered at the Old Town Mission in the early 90's and at Family Challenge. He enjoyed computers, helping others and talking to anyone who would listen.
He leaves a godson, Paul Richter of Vancouver, Washington and close friends, Kathy and Dane Wombacher, Dr. Dutch and Juanita Schultz, Paul and Mary Zelenski, Karen Ladd, Lichan Ahmed, Kelley Johnson and Kim Rogers
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 15 in the Vineyard Christian Felloship at 11 AM.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Four Paws Emporium, 1001 N. Main St., Cottonwood or to the Old Town Mission, 116 E. Pinal St., Cottonwood 86326.
Westcott Funeral Home assited with these arrangements.

Juan Ochoa Mendez
February 11, 1934 - May 10, 2004

Juan Ochoa Mendez, 70, of Camp Verde died May 10. He was born February 11, 1934 in Sells, Arizona.
He was a veteran of the Marine Corps.
He was a graduate of St. John's High School in Laveen, Arizona.
He retired from Phelps Dodge Corporation in Ajo. He worked for Cliff Castle Casino as a security guard and barback. He also worked for the Yavapai-Apache Nation for the roads department. He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Camp Verde.
His wife Harriet D. Mendez preceded him in death.
He leaves a son, Kevin (Rachel) Mendez of Camp Verde; a daughter Diana Mendez (Dave)DeLaTorre of Phoenix; Kathleen Mendez of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Annette Mendez of Clarkdale; a brother Ernest (Della) Mendez of Tucson; a sister, Doris Mendez of Tucson; Gloriann (Frank) Mendoza of Tucson; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A Rosary will be held Thursday, May 13 in the Westcott Funeral Home, Cottonwood at 5 PM.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 14 in St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Camp Verde at 10 AM. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery.

Helene Florczak
May 22, 1921 - May 11, 2004

Helene Florczak, 82, a resident of Sedona died May 11. She was born May 22, 1921 in Metz, (Lorraine), France.
She was a retired seamstress at Bullocks in California.
Miss Florczak attended St. John Vianney Catholic Church. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, care of animals, gardening, reading, enjoyed arts and scenery.
She leaves two sisters, Regine Holewinski of New Jersey and Lucie Willm of France.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 15 in the Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood at 2 PM.
The family asks donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2724 E. Lakin Dr. Flagstaff 86004 or to the Humane Society of Sedona, 2115 Shelby Dr., Sedona 86336.

Staci R. Walker
December 09, 1966 - May 07, 2004

Staci Rene Walker, 37, of Cornville died May 7. She was born December 9, 1966 in Cottonwood.
She grew up in Camp Verde and was a graduate of Camp Verde High School. Staci was working as a food server. She had also worked as a pump technician. She attended First Assembly of God Church of Camp Verde. Staci enjoyed pressing wildflowers and beadwork, hiking, and four wheel driving. She is survivied by her her husband, Charlie B. Walker; a daughter Mika Swick of Clearwater, Florida; her mother Ruth Maynard of Camp Verde; brothers Kip (Jill) Maynard of Camp Verde and Chip Maynard of Washington; sisters Jennifer (Jason) Piper of Chandler and Kim (David) Forbes; her parents in law, Sue and Chuck Sands; grandparents in law, Nadine and Woody Woodburn; brother in law, Clark (Susan) Walker; sister in law, Marian (Joe) Armstrong all of whom will remember Staci with love.
Her father Sidney P. Maynard preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 15 in the First Assembly of God Church of Camp Verde at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Middle Verde Cemetery.
Westcott Funeral Home is directing these arrangements.

Florence E. Sullivan
September 29, 1914 - May 13, 2004

Florence E. Sullivan, 89, a resident of Sedona, died May 13. She was born September 29, 1914 in Saugus, Massachusetts.
She retired from 25 years of service in the Women's Army Corp at the rank of Master Sergeant.
She attended St. John Vianney Catholic Church and while she lived in Florida was an active member of the Democratic Women's Club in Collier County and was a State Committe woman of the Democratic Party of Florida.
Master Sergeant Sullivan is survived by three nephews, Kevin Badger of Camp Verde, Merrill J. Badger of Sedona and Keith Badger of Wilton, New Hampshire.
There are no public services planned. Westcott Funeral Home was entrusted with these arrangements.

Robert Olin Anderson
August 23, 1922 - May 12, 2004

Robert Olin Anderson, 81, of Cottonwood died May 12. He was born August 23, 1922 in Perryton, Texas.
He was a World War II veteran of the Coast Guard.
He attended Manteca High School. Mr. Anderson retired as a self-employed welder, mechanic and farmer.
He enjoyed training border collies.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Leota M. Anderson; two sons, Robert E. Anderson of Cottonwood and Bryan O. Anderson of Ranco Cordova, California; four daughters, Barbara Mitchell of Monument, Colorado, Betty Lee of Flagstaff, Beverly Anderson of Rancho Cordova, California and Bonnie Bowling of Gasquet, California; three brothers, Doyle Yates Anderson and Irvin Nelson Anderson both of Sacramento, California and Alan Dale Anderson of Midwest City, Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A sister, Oleen Judd preceded him in death.
There are no public ervices planned. Westcott Funeral Home served the family.

Catherine M. Oenning
October 05, 1915 - May 11, 2004

Catherine Miller Oenning, 88, a resident of Sedona died May 11. She was born October 5, 1915 in Moro, Arkansas.
She was a graduate of Helena High School in Helena, Arkansas.
Mrs. Oenning was a retired news photgrapher and photojournalist at the Blytheville Courier News in Blytheville, Arkansas.
Active in the West Helena Baptist Church, she enjoyed travel, sewing, reading, gardening and cooking.
Her husband, Leon Henry Oenning, preceded her in death.
She leaves a daughter, Barbara Oenning Scott of Sedona; two grandchildren Donna Kerbough Miller and Terry Kerbough and two great-grandchildren Catherine Miller Cooper and Jennifer Kerbough Caldwell and three great-great-grandsons.
There are no public services planned.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Kachina Point Activity Fund, 505 Jacks Canyon Rd., Sedona 86351.

Floyd B. Kracht
October 29, 1912 - May 15, 2004

Floyd B. Kracht, 91, of Cottonwood died May 15. He was born October 29, 1912 in Fairfield, Iowa.
He was a graduate of Fairfield High School and worked as a machinist at the Rock Island Arsenal in Rock Island, Illinois. He went on to work for Lockheed Aircraft Services in Onatrio, California.
He was a member of the International Asociation of Machinists. He was a member of the Verde Baptist Church and has served as Deacon and Elder in churches he had previously been a member of.
Mr.Kracht enjoyed reading, jewelry making, ceramics and carpentry.
He leaves his wife of 68 years, Musetta L. Kracht; a son, John F. Kracht of Rimrock; a daughter Jane F. Hurst of Clarkdale; one niece and two great-nieces and one grandnephew and a great-grandniece.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 19 in the Verde Baptist Church from 10-11 AM. The funeral service will follow at 11AM. Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery.

Richard E. Standard
September 13, 1916 - May 14, 2004

Richard E. Standard, 87, of Cottonwood died May 14. He was born September 13, 1916 in Milton, Iowa.
He was a 1934 graduate of Milton High School in Milton, Iowa. He was a farmer for many years retiring in 1983.
He was an Army veteran.
Mr. Standard enjoyed his grandchildren and woodworking.
He leaves his wife Betty M. Standard; two sons, Neal Standard of Golden, Colorado and Dale Standard of Milan, Illinois; a daughter, Bonnie Boostrom of Rock Island, Illinois; two sisters Betty Hargrove of Texarkana, Texas and Martha Avery of Burlington, Iowa; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held May 29 in Illinois.
Westcott Funeral Home is serving the family.

Geraldine Mae Pender
February 23, 1925 - May 16, 2004

Geraldine Mae (Allen) Pender, 79, of Cottonwood passed away May 16. She moved to Arizona 68 years ago from Oologah, Oklahoma. Fifty of those years she resided in Cottonwood.
Geraldine leaves behind her husband of 54 years Jervie Dee Pender; three children, Carol Lee Kennick, Jervie "Leon" Pender and Janet Rae Foster. She had thirteen grandchildren, James Foster, Geralynn Ellison, Wesley Norris, Clinton "Levi" Norris, Kevin Hurst, Dawn Bryant, Justin Pender, Teresa Cochran, Sarah Taylor, Todd Brock, Carolyn Foster, Heather Foster and Madison Foster; twenty-five great-grandchildren, Bre, Jordon, Dylan, Clayton, A.J., Logan, Spencer, Cody, Adrianne, Allana, Kateland, Harley, Kassidy, Tyler, Dawn, Peyton, Cal Jr., Jace, Zeus, Noel, Gavin, Alona, Trevor, Austin, Skyler and three more expected this year. Her daughter-in-law Carolyn Pender, and son-in-law, Stan Kennick; her five surviving siblings are Bill Allen, Kenneth Allen, Elsie Marie Steward, Mary Anne Sartor and Patsy Sue Gaines. Preceding her in death were her parents, Frank Everett Allen and Elsie Granthem Allen and five of her siblings.
Geraldine was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She loved playing softball, bowling, gardening, fishing but most of all she loved and cherished her family. We will miss her but continue to celebrate her life.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 20 in the Westcott Funeral Home from 6-8 PM.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 21 in the Emmanuel Fellowship at 11 AM. Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery.

ZhiZhuo Song
December 02, 1973 - May 13, 2004

Zhizhuo Song, 30, of China died in an automobile accident while visiting Arizona.
She was born December 2, 1973 in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China, the daughter of XuFu Song and Huiying Liang Song. She was working in International Trade at the time of her death.
A private visitation and funeral was held and eventual burial will be held in China.
