Calvin V. Weldon, 90, of Cottonwood, died Feb. 25.
Weldon was preceded in death by two brothers; three sisters; and is survived by his wife, Margaret; sons Calvin [Patricia] and Craig [Elaine]; daughters Gail [Roy] and Deborah [Michael]; a sister, Pauline; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
A memorial was March 3 at First Southern Baptist Church.

Capt. Hamilton White
June 30, 2008

Capt. Hamilton “Reese” White, 80, of Sedona, died June 30.
After 33 years, White retired from TWA airlines in 1986, and the Whites moved to Sedona. A veteran, White’s accomplishments in Korea included 100 missions on the P-51, winning him the Distinguished Flying Cross.
White is survived by his loving wife, Rosemarie; children, Michael White, Kathy [Craig] Biller, Thomas [Roberta] Darak, Karen White and Julie Darak; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and best friend and spiritual advisor, Angie Mikitka.

Charles F. Adams
Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007

Charles Frances Adams, 76, of Rimrock, died Feb. 25.
Adams, a U.S. Army veteran and retired Yavapai County Sheriff's deputy, is survived by his wife of 39 years, Mary Alice Marcum Adams.
A memorial service took place Feb. 27 at Verde Valley Church of Christ.

Charles Lagutaris
Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008

Charles “Chuck" Lagutaris, 71, of Sedona, died Feb. 10.
Lagutaris served in the military. He drove truck for a grocery concern for more than 25 years. The family moved to Sedona in 1989.
Lagutaris is survived by his wife, Marcia; daughters Dee Ann, Doris and Belinda; sisters Mary Ann and Carol; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A private viewing took place at Greer’s Mortuary.

Charles N. Piper
Jan. 19, 2009

Charles N. “Charley’ Piper, 72, of Cottonwood, died Jan. 19.
He was a devoted husband of 50 years to his wife Mary and a cherished father to his children, Denny, Jody, Clark, Clint and Teri; also eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Visitation Saturday, Jan. 24 at 9 a.m. in Westcott Funeral Home. Funeral at 10 a.m. Afterward, there will be a potluck at Clemeneau Museum.

Charles O. Bowers
Sept. 8, 1918 — Dec. 3, 2008

Charles O. Bowers, 90, of Sedona, died Dec. 3. He was born in Missouri. Since retiring, Charlie and his wife made their home in Sedona, where they were involved in the Church of the Red Rocks.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary, and his sister, Wanda Bowers, who turned 100 in August. She is residing in Missouri.
Services will be set for February or March. Charlie will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Clarence M. Bruck
Oct. 21, 1915 – Sept. 19, 2007

Clarence Martin Bruck, 91, who retired to Sedona 33 years ago, died Sept. 19, after moving to Scottsdale a year ago.
Bruck was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes, on Oct. 21, 2006; and is survived by daughters Karen [Vince] Hurd, Donna Brooks, Camille [Skip] Holt and Ann [William] Riley; a brother, Fred [Nancy] Bruck; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Hansen Mortuary in Scottsdale assisted with arrangements.

Clayton Roberts
May 4, 1948 — July 3, 2010

Clayton Roberts, known as John, age 62, died July 3.
Roberts’ first wife Paula died in 1994.
Roberts lived with his family in Sedona from 1998 to 2008.
He is survived by wife Dona; daughters Rachel and Sarah; stepdaughter Raychel Huber; grandson Masen; parents Richard and Marty; siblings George Roberts (Gail), Elizabeth Hardwick, Peter Roberts (Patty), Tom Roberts (Stacy).
Memorial service: Noon, Sunday, July 18, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 16150 E. El Lago Blvd., Fountain Hills.

Clyde Allen Morgan
May 30, 1920 — May 8, 2010

Clyde Allen Morgan, 89, a 35-year resident of Sedona, died May 8.
He was born May 30, 1920. Morgan is survived by his son Jim, daughter Lisa, and sister Muriel.
He was preceded in death by his wife Laura and sister Francis.

Dale Dean Eggers
March 31, 2009

Dale Dean Eggers, 80, of Sedona, died suddenly in Missouri while on business with his son Randen. During the early 1980s, Dale owned the El Dorado Rare Coin Exchange here. He and his second wife, Lois, married in Sedona 27 years ago. Dale, always active, enjoyed his real estate investments through the years. He leaves his sister, Dorothy Reis of Wisconsin, his wife, Lois, eight children, two stepchildren, 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorials to be announced.

Marilyn Aldine Anderson, 78 years old, passed away April 6, 2009. Loving wife of Don; beloved mother of Jeffrey C.; dear sister of Vivienne Lang and Lois Tintle; and fond aunt of many nieces and a nephew. Marilyn sang with Opera companies in New York City and New Jersey as a Dramatic Soprano in leading roles, and sang as a church soloist for many years. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Oro Valley United Church of Christ, 1401 E. El Conquistador Way, Oro Valley, AZ. In lieu of flowers donations to the Oro Valley United Church of Christ designated for the general fund, to pay off the construction loan or to the endowment fund, would be appreciated.

George Francis Effenberger
August 12, 1928 - April 6, 2009

George Francis Effenberger, Jr., passed away on April 6, 2009 in Oro Valley, Arizona. George was born on August 12, 1928 in San Francisco to Marie Louise and George Joseph. He was raised in San Francisco and joined the Merchant Marines at age 16 after graduation from high school. George enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1948 and fought in the Chosin Reservoir campaign during the Korean War.
After the Korean War, George founded a trucking company and skippered the Cutter Orient out of the San Francisco Yacht Club where he competed in the Trans Pacific yacht race. George resumed his studies at San Francisco City College where he was ASB President and then attended the University of San Francisco, UC Berkeley and earned his Juris Doctorate at Western State University College of Law.
George traveled the world in his professional career as a respected high voltage cable applications consultant and was a contributing member of IEEE. He founded Power Engineering Services in Brea, CA in 1981, which today is run by his son Douglas and daughter-in-law Barbara.
Golf was a lifelong passion. George and Beth were resident members at the Bear Creek Golf Club in Murrieta, CA before relocating to Tucson, AZ. George was a member of the SaddleBrooke Mountain View Men's Golf Association. On the course and in life his motto was, "Hit 'em staight!". George will be missed by many of his golfing buddies.
George is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Beth; three children, Michael,Douglas and Lesley; eight grandchildren, Kristina, Heidi, Michael, Nicole, Caitlin, Shelby, Bryn and Haley, and his dog "JJ". They will miss him.
A memorial is planned for May 2, 2009 at 5:00pm at Vistoso Memorial Chapel, 2285 E. Rancho Vistoso Blvd., Oro Valley, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George's name to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 43790, Tucson, AZ 85733-3790.

Howard W. Jensen
December 13, 1929 - April 2, 2009

Howard W.Jensen, 79, of Oro Valley, AZ went to meet his Lord on April 2, 2009. He was born in Greenville, Michigan to Paul and Emma Jensen on December 13, 1929. He served in the United States Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Howard is survived by his wife, Sharon; children, Linda (Rev. Phil) Platz, Sven (Serena) Jensen, Kathy (Bob) Pendell, Bill (Melissa) Jensen and Cheryl (Doug) Hire; fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce and grandson, Jim Pendell. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 in the Palo Verde Room at Casas Adobes Baptist Church, 10801 N. La Cholla Blvd. Oro Valley, Arizona. In lieu of flowers donations in Howard’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1636 N. Swan Road, Tucson, AZ 85712 or The Gideons, P.O. Box 36031, Tucson, Arizona 85740.

Arlene J. Hitz
May 24, 1915 - March 30, 2009

Arlene Jacobson Hitz passed away on March 30, 2009, in Tucson. She was born on a farm in Gilbert, Iowa, to Daniel and Emma Jacobson on May 24, 1915. She loved books and learning, friends and family and her church. Passionate about all things foreign, she loved to travel abroad and to support foreign missions from home. She made beautiful quilts for family members and for special needs children in Mexico.
Although she was the Valedictorian of her high school class, she couldn't attend college because of the Depression so she worked her way through business school to become a secretary and then writer for "Better Homes and Gardens." She was a member of P.E.O. and often a leader in church and civic activities.
She leaves behind her husband, Robert Hitz, of Tucson and three daughters: Susan (John) Ey and Mary Miller and Barbara Roark. Bob and Arlene have 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Arlene's lively spirit was the center of the family and will be very much missed.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 4th at 2 p.m. at Oro Valley United Church of Christ at 1401 E. El Conquistador Way, Oro Valley, Arizona. Memorials to Oro Valley United Church of Christ for foreign missions or to a charity of your choice. Internment in Sedona.
The family wants to thank the people at Clare Bridge and Odyssey Hospice for their loving care.

David M. Archer
June 30, 1926 - March 30, 2009

David M. Archer, beloved husband of Martha Mary departed this life March 30,2009. He leaves behind two daughters, Pamela (John) Archer Peters of Springfield, Ohio and Diane (Richard Harris) Haley Archer of Dublin, Ohio, three grandchildren, Maureen Bea Peters of St. Louis, Missouri, Travis David Haley of Morgantown, West Virginia and Danielle (Andrew Johnson) Elizabeth Haley of Dublin, Ohio and one great grandchild Taylor Alexis Johnson.
He served in World War II and was in the occupation of Berlin. Upon returning from the war, Dave attended The Ohio State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics. He met his lovely wife in Ashland,Ohio and married her August 23, 1952. Thereafter he was promoted to bank examiner in Baltimore, Maryland and later to Washington, DC where he sold bonds on Wall Street. His interests included traveling to 121 countries and anything financially related. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Vistoso Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 2285 E. Rancho Vistoso Blvd, Oro Valley. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 PM until the time of services.
