Grace Madeline Moose, 93, passed away February 15, 2004 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. She was born to James and Clara (Minor) Wilson on August 18, 1910 in West Virginia.

Grace moved to Lake Havasu 20 years ago from Downey, CA.

Grace is survived by her loving family, daughters, Ellen Hinds of Ventura, CA and Geraldine Martin-Bowers of Cape Coral, FL; sister, Zella Fredricks of Independence, WV; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory.

Laurence Eugene Haugsness, 87, passed away February 17, 2004 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. He was born to T. Einer and Jenny (Larsen) Haugsness on June 4, 1916 in Evanston, IL.

Mr. Haugsness made Lake Havasu his home 12 years ago, moving here from Wilmette, IL. For 31 years, he worked in the dairy industry with Hawthorne Melody as a driver and other positions. Following that, he worked for 6 years as a bus driver with the Wilmette School District. He was a member of the Elks in Lake Havasu and a life member of the Sons of Norway where he held many offices.

Laurence is survived by his beloved wife, Marion; son, Kenneth Haugsness and his wife Sue of Buffalo Grove, IL; step children, Sherry Wagoner and her husband Gale of Lake Havasu, Jeanine Jones of Lake Havasu and Ralph Jones of San Bernardino, CA; sister, Jean Clayburn of Denver, CO, sister-in-law Margaret Haugsness of Littleton, CO; grandchildren, John Haugsness of Buffalo Grove, IL and Ralph A. “Skip” Jones of Glenview, IL and one great grandchild.

Laurence was known to have a big heart and was well liked by all who knew him.

Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory.

FASSARI, WILLIAM MICHAEL "BILL"

November 20, 1919 to February 15, 2004

Bill was born November 20, 1919 in Buffalo, NY, to Italian immigrant parents. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in the late 1930’s working on the John Muir Trail in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Northern California.

Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army before the start of WWII, serving in the Panama Canal Zone. During the war, he served in the Pacific Theater, including Hawaii, Guam, and the Philippines. Upon his discharge, after the war, he returned to Buffalo where he met and married his beloved wife Gloria in 1947.

Bill and Gloria moved to California in 1952, finally settling in Pico Rivera, CA; where they raised their two sons, Michael and Paul. Bill worked as a foreman for the Chrysler Corporation for 19 years, until the Southern California plant closed. He worked 10 years for the El Rancho Unified School District, as an equipment operator, until he retired in 1982.

Bill and Gloria traveled extensively in retirement, traveling throughout North America, several trips to Europe, and even to the Soviet Union. Bill and Gloria moved to Lake Havasu in February of 2003, and built a house next door to their son.

His loving wife Gloria, sons Michael (Brigit) of Lake Havasu, AZ; Paul of Whittier, CA; and six grandchildren survive him.

Graveside services will be held at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens on Friday, February 20, 2004 at 1:00 PM, along with military honors.

Rudolph F. Wahlen, 79, passed away February 14, 2004 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. He was born to Christian and Marie (Sterba) Wahlen on April 17, 1924 in Chicago, IL.

Mr. Wahlen has been a winter visitor of Lake Havasu for the past 16 years, visiting from Jackson, MI. He was a proud veteran in the US Navy during WWII, a member of the Elks Lodge #1798 in Albion, MI, the American Legion and the Coast Guard Combat Association.

Rudolph is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 55 years, Gloria; sons, Bruce Wahlen and his wife Alice of Barrington, IL and Gary Wahlen of Grantsburg, WI; sisters, Katie Wojcik and her husband John and Trudy Kolwyck; sister-in-law, Marie Wahlen; grandchildren, Toni, Ryan, Leigh, Regi, Rudy and Brad and six great grandchildren, Thia, Alexis, Austin, Harlei, Dillyn and Jeret.

He is preceded in by his parents, Christian and Marie Wahlen and brother Bert Wahlen.

A visitation will be held Saturday, February 21 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM followed by funeral services at 2:00 PM at Lauer Funeral Home in Concord, MI. Interment will follow the services at Maple Grove Cemetery in Concord, MI.

He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Denice Michelle Duncan Weber passed away February 11, 2004 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. She was born on October 14, 1950 in Akron, OH.

Denice was one of six children. The family moved to Carlisle, PA in 1959. She attended Cumberland Valley High and most recently attended NAU and earned her teaching degree in May 2003 and had the honors of being on the Dean’s List.

When Denice was in her early 20’s she left her home in Pennsylvania for Alaska and worked for the pipe line for 15 years. During that time, she would vacation in Lake Havasu City because she loved the sun.

Denice moved to Lake Havasu 17 years ago and worked at Mega Foods as a deli manager and Circle K as an assistant manager. Her proudest moment was when she received her teaching degree.

Denice is survived by her loving family; father Charles W. Weber and step mom Georgia Weber; brothers, Lawrence D. Weber and Timothy F. Weber; partner of 13 ˝ years, Michael A. Evans and her beloved dogs Rudy “Rude Dog” and Goldie.

She is preceded in by her mother, Juanita Weber; 2 sisters, Marie A. Weber and Patty E. Weber and brother, Charles W. Weber.

Denice loved life, laughter and sunsets and was rarely without a smile. She will be missed by all her family and many friends.

Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory.

Alexander Gecich, 85, passed away February 11, 2004 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. He was born to Pete and Mary (Vurvec) Gecich on January 11, 1919 in Sharoon, WY.

Alexander moved to Lake Havasu 32 years ago from Bremerton, WA where he worked as a Rigger for the US Government for 25 years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #2399, enjoyed traveling around the United States and up to Alaska and was an avid golfer.

Alexander is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 62 years, Betty; son, John Gecich of Tacoma, WA; daughters, Lynn Moore of Plant City, FL and Shelly Love of Westport, WA; brother, Robert Gecich of Lewiston, ID; sister, Catherine Taylor of Boise, ID; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.

Mervin Perry Bowes was born in Cumberland, IA; to Alfred and Violet Bowes on January 29, 1932. He graduated from Carson High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War veteran. Mervin married Marian McKee on February 19, 1952 in Carson, IA. Following his service in the U.S. Army, he worked for many years as an aircraft mechanic in several states, eventually moving to California. While in California, he worked for Thompson Building Materials, started his own trucking business, and worked as an electronic technician for the Grass Valley Group. After living and working in California for 42 years, he retired to Lake Havasu City, AZ; where he lived for the last two years. He died at home on February 7, 2004.

Preceding him in were his father and mother and sister, Wanda Dean. He is survived by his son Scott Bowes of Napa, CA; daughter Candis Huffman of Dana Point, CA; brother Philip Bowes of Box Elder, SD; three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Mervin never knew a stranger and leaves many, many good friends everywhere he has traveled.

Interment will be held in Napa, CA.

May you have fair winds and following seas, may the wind always be at you back and the sun always on your face.
