Ralph K. Douglass

Cottonwood resident Ralph Douglass died July 28, 1999.

He was born Jan. 27, 1906 in Anadarko, Okla.

Mr. Douglass had resided in Arizona for 63 years.

He graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in pharmacology.

From 1939 to 1952, Mr. Douglass and his wife Lillie owned and operated Indian Curio Stores in Flagstaff.

Mr. Douglass was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Lillie Douglass.

Both Mr. Douglass and his wife were world travelers and toured extensively in an Airstream trailer. They took many trips with Airstream camping groups.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol Peters of Montana and Jean Stephenson of Prescott; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Private services were held.

Lila Lee Lawrence

Memorial services were held at Christ Lutheran Church in Sedona on July 31, 1999 for Village of Oak Creek resident Lila Lee Lawrence.

Mrs. Lawrence was 56 years old when she died July 28, 1999.

She was born in Milwaukee, Wis. Dec. 22, 1942.

A former hotel front desk clerk, Mrs. Lawrence had also worked as an election clerk.

Survivors include a son, Curtis Leblance of Sedona; a brother, Dave Tuttle of Wisconsin; a nephew, Justin Tuttle of Wisconsin and a niece, Betsy Tuttle of Wisconsin.

Harriet Jane Bissonnette

Private family services are planned for Lake Montezuma resident Harriet (Hap) Jane Bissonnette. Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bissonnette died July 31, 1999.

She was born in Buffalo, N.Y. May 17, 1932 to George G. and Ada (Moon) Crewson.

Mrs. Bissonnette was 67 years old.

A resident of Arizona for seven years, Mrs. Bissonnette was an avid golfer, enjoyed reading and completing crossword puzzles.

At the time of her retirement she had been an employee of General Dynamics for 20 years.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Richard H. Bissonnette; two daughters, Sheila Childress and Cynthia Wolski of California; two sons, David Bissonnette of Montana and James MacAlpine of California; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations in her name may be sent to Northern Arizona Hospice, 202 S. Willard Street Cottonwood 86326.

Eudene M. Ross

Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. in the Westcott Funeral Home for Eudene M. "Pat" Ross of Cottonwood. Burial will follow in the Cottonwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Ross died Aug. 1, 1999 at the age of 75.

She was born May 11, 1924 in Cove, Ark.

Mrs. Ross worked as an assistant pharmacist for many years. Following her retirement she had worked as a greeter at WalMart.

She and her husband Leroy L. Ross moved to Arizona nine years ago.

While residing in Arkansas Mrs. Ross was a member of the American Legion and the Eastern Star.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna R. Piper of Cottonwood; a son, Ronald L. Ross of Cottonwood; a brother, Dr. Don Hook of North Carolina; a sister, Mabel Wilton of Arkansas; three granddaughters, Donna Sue Hudson of Cottonwood, Diann Kennick of Alaska and Kelly Dawn Ross of Oklahoma; four great-grandchildren, Cody and Kylee Hudson of Cottonwood and Megan and Paige Kennick of Alaska.

Mrs. Ross was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy L. Ross, and seven brothers and sisters.

John Kuenzli,

Tucson resident John Kuenzli, 68, died July 25, 1999 while returning home by train from a summer trip.

He is survived by wife Roberta, sister Barbara Myers and sister-in-law Lois Lewis. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and one aunt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Betty Crawford of Benson.

Mr. Kuenzli graduated from Clarkdale High School. He received his bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Arizona, attended graduate school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received his master of arts degree in urban planning from the UofA. He worked for the Los Angeles County and Maricopa County Planning Departments before joining the City of Tucson Planning Department.

He was a member of the American Planning Association, the American Institute of Certified Planners and the Arizona Planning Association. He was a member and had served on the board of directors of the Arizona Preservation Foundation. He was also a member of the Arizona Historical Society, the Jerome Historical Society, the Adobe Corral of Westerners International, the National Association of Rail Passengers, and the Arizona Rail Passengers Association.

He was a prize-winning photographer, published poet and amateur astronomer. He served as an Air Force navigator, stationed at Charleston, S.C..

Mr. Kuenzli was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Tucson.

Memorial services for Mr. Kuenzli took place Aug.2 in the Chapel of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Tucson.

Donations in Mr. Kuenzli's name may be made to the Arizona Preservation Foundation, P.0. Box 13492, Phoenix, 85002.

Richard Franklin Copas

Veteran and Camp Verde resident Richard Copas died Sept. 21, 1999.

Mr. Copas was born July 8, 1930 in Decatur, Ga.

He was 69 years old.

A memorial service is scheduled for today at 10 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Camp Verde.

Mr. Copas served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War.

He was an electrician employed by a linen service.

Mr. Copas was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Copas, four daughters, Jacque, Valerie, Debbie and Jane; two sons, Phillip and Scott; 18 grandchildren and eight grandchildren.

Seline Michelle Olmedo

A memorial service was held Wednesday for Cottonwood resident Seline Olmedo.

Ms. Olmedo died Sept. 17, 1999. Pastor Lynn Peters officiated the service.

She was born Dec. 19, 1965 in Santa Monica, Calif.

Ms. Olmedo had worked as a receptionist and resided in Cottonwood for nine years.

Survivors include her mother, Sylvia Campio; father, Eddie Olmedo of California; step-father, Al Campio of Cottonwood; two daughters; grandparents, Ester Arvin and Frank Gradillas of California; a step-sister, Rita Schumacher of California; two step-brothers, Fred and David Campio of California; three aunts, Cathy Valdez, Lil Adams and Francine Gradillas of California.

Charles Holgate

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Clarkdale Baptist Church for the Rev. Charles Holgate of Clarkdale. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery.

Mr. Holgate was born April 20, 1911 in Radersburg, Mont.

He died Sept. 18, 1999 at the age of 88.

Mr. Holgate was pastor of Independent Bible Churches in Oklahoma, Kansas, Oregon, Nevada and California. He started several churches in Nevada.

He was a graduate of Denver Bible Institute, Rockmont College in Colorado and Dallas Theological Seminary.

Mr. Holgate served on the board of the Bible Memory Association and worked with the Northwest Independent Church Extension.

Survivors include his wife, Alice M. Holgate; two sisters, June E. Harper of Camp Verde and Harriette M. Maddox of California; three brothers, E. Willard Holgate of Sun City, Dean L. Holgate of Washington and Byron G. Holgate of Kingman.

Mr. Holgate was preceded in death by his sister, Gladys Inabnit and three brothers, John, Homer and Warren Holgate.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Northwest Independent Church Memorial Fund, PO Box 99787, Tacoma, Wash 98499.

Thomas W. Jones

A burial service is scheduled for Friday at 10:30 a.m. for Clarkdale native Thomas Jones at Valley View Cemetery.

Mr. Jones spent his early years in Clarkdale. He attended public school and worked in his father's furniture stores in the Verde Valley. He recently returned with his wife to live in Verde Village.

Mr. Jones served with the Verde Valley Chamber of Commerce as a volunteer.

He and his wife attended Mountain View Methodist Church.

Friends are invited to attend Friday's service.

Stephanie L. Bishop

Stephanie Bishop of Cottonwood died Sept. 17, 1999.

She was 19 years old.

A memorial service was held Sept. 21 at Calvary Chapel.

She had recently been employed as a certified nursing assistant at Kachina Point Nursing Home in Sedona.

Survivors include her son, Nicholas R. Fleming of Cottonwood, her mother, Elizabeth Bishop of Cottonwood; her father, Michael Bishop of Cottonwood and a sister, Jennifer Lukus of California.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Victim Witness Advocacy Program, 255 E. Gurley Street, 3rd Floor, Prescott 86301.

Robert F. Lembas

A memorial service is scheduled for Robert Lembas of Clarkdale for Thursday at 4 p.m. in the Westcott Funeral Home.

Mr. Lembas died Sept. 18, 1999 at the age of 62.

He was born Sept. 9, 1937 in Detroit.

Mr. Lembas was employed as a maintenance worker and a manager.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #7400. He enjoyed photography, crossword puzzles, fishing, hunting and crafts.

Survivors include his companion Chris Kittredge of Clarkdale; two sons, David Lembas of Illinois and Tom Lembas of California; one daughter-in-law, Teresa Lembas; a daughter, Deanna Evans of Chicago; a son-in-law, Tom Evans; his mother, Camille Lembas of Michigan; two brothers, Mitchel Lembas of Detroit and Gerald Lembas of Scottsdale; two sisters-in-law, Helena and Carol Lembas; a sister, Barbara Leghorn of Michigan; two grandsons, David and Dylan Lembas and two granddaughters, Paige and Peyton Lembas of Illinois.

Donations may be made to Northern Arizona Hospice, 202 S. Willard St. Cottonwood 86326.

Mellie M. Kenney

Mellie Kenney, a long time resident of Camp Verde died Sept. 18, 1999. She was born Jan. 22, 1913 in South Prairie, Wash.

Mrs. Kenney was 86 years old.

She was preceded in death by her husband, H.M. Kenney in 1991.

Survivors include by her son, Bill Jascur; step-daughter, Dee Jascur and step-son B. J. Kenney.

Graveside services are scheduled for Friday at 10 a.m. at the Middle Verde Cemetery in Camp Verde.
