Dorothy Nugent

Dorothy Nugent died Dec. 20, 1999, in Kingman. She was 71.

Mrs. Nugent was born Nov. 26, 1928, in Tulia, Texas, and came to Kingman 30 years ago from California. She was a cook, waitress, and homemaker.

Mrs. Nugent is survived by: three children, Dana Brack of Kingman, Eddie White of Utah, and Sharon Davis of Grand Junction, Colo.; five brothers; five sisters; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday Feb. 5, 2000, at American Legion Post No. 14, located at 225 Oak St. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery.

Wilbern Nephi Spears

Wilbern Nephi Spears died Monday Jan. 24, 2000, in Kingman. He was 67.

Mr. Spears was born March 5, 1932, in Gore, Okla. He was a bus driver for the Mohave Union High School District and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War.

Mr. Spears is survived by: his wife, Carol Spears; one son, Nephi Spears of Salt Lake City, utah; three daughters, Telitha Scofield of Kingman, Mary Ellen Spears of Bullhead City, and Clara Elizabeth Roos of Salt Lake City; one sister, Dovey Stapley of Mesa, Ariz.; three brothers, Sam Spears of California, Cliff Spears of Pocatella, Ida., and David Spears of Henderson, Nev.; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m.today - Friday - at the LDS church at Eastern and Southern. Burial was in the Chloride Cemetery.

George L. Long

George L. long died Monday Jan. 24, 2000, in Kingman. He was 69.

Mr. Long was born Oct. 13, 1930 in Kansas City, Mo. He was self-employed in the awning business, a certified EMT, and commissioner for the Hualapai Valley Fire District.

Mr. Long is survived by: his wife, Enid Bettina Long of Kingman; one son, George David Long of Kingman; two daughters, Sandra Kosha Long and Karen Bettina Campbell, both of Kingman; six brothers, Corky Long of Kingman, Richard Long of Kansas City, Mo., and Norman, Terry, Larry and Jerry Long, all of Kansas; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Elaine Long, one brother, Walter Long Jr., and one sister, Ruth Long.

A memorial service for Mr. Long is planned at 2 p.m. Sunday Feb. 13, 2000 at the Abundant Life Worship Center. Cremation will be handled by Sutton Crematory.

Doris Louise Eakin

Doris Louise Eakin died Friday Jan. 21, 2000, in Kingman. She was 63.

Miss Eakin was born June 16, 1936, in Globe, Ariz., and had been employed as a teacher in Kingman Elementary School District No. 4 for 35 years. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, the American Federation of Teachers, and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Miss Eakin is survived by: one son, Sam Eakin III of Kingman. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Sam and Nancy Eakin.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday Jan. 28, 2000, at Desert View Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday Jan. 29, 2000, at First Southern Baptist Church. The Rev. Paul Daniel will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.

James D. Howell

James D. Howell died Monday Jan. 24, 2000, in Kingman. He was 71.

Mr. Howell was born Oct. 29, 1928 in Bakersville, N.C. He was a mechanic at the Ford Proving Grounds in Yucca, former assistant fire chief, member of the Elks Lodge, and served in the United States Army during World War II.

Mr. Howell is survived by: his wife, Margaret Howell; one son, Jeff Howell of Kingman; two sisters, Wilma Tinney and Lina Taylor, both of Burnsville, N.C.; two brothers, Ted Howell and Kenneth Howell, both of Burnsville, N.C.; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Greg Howell, in 1999.

Funeral services for Mr. Howell, under the direction of Sutton Memorial Funeral Home, were scheduled today at First Southern Baptist Church. Burial will be in Bakersville, N.C.

The family has requested any donations be made to the building fund at First Southern Baptist Church.

Jeannie L. Stalcup

Jeannie L. Stalcup of Kingman died in Phoenix Sunday Jan. 16, 2000. She was 76.

Mrs. Stalcup was born Nov. 21, 1923, in San Francisco, Calif., and came to Kingman 32 years ago with her husband Lyle G. Stalcup and their seven children. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Foundation for the Blind, Kingman Food Bank, Have Heart Clothe A Child program and several others. She enjoyed gardening, doll making and other crafts.

Mrs. Stalcup is survived by: three sons, Terry Stalcup of Las Vegas, Nev., Daniel Stalcup and Scott Stalcup, both of Oregon; three daughters, Karen Striano of Argentina, Julia Stalcup-Gburczyk, and Madelyn Elliot, both of Oregon; two sisters, Patricia Taylor of Washington, and Hazel Yale of California; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Lyle Stalcup; one daughter, Lyla Stalcup-Okolovich; her parents; one brother; and two sisters.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday Jan. 27, 2000.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Mary's Catholic Youth Group.

Alfred and Orpha Schritter

Alfred and Orpha Schritter of Kingman both died Wednesday Jan. 19, 2000. He was 82 and she was 75.

Mr. Schritter was born June 17, 1917 in Idaho. He was a retired mechanic and contractor.

Mrs. Schritter was born Oct. 9, 1924 in Utah. She was a homemaker.

The Schritters were married 60 years and raised seven children.

The Schritters are survived by: three sons, Jay Schritter of Kingman, Blake Schritter of Kingman, and Aldo Schritter of Tucson; three daughters, Sally Blauvelt of Glendale, Susan Owen of Chandler, and Jean Bishop of Kingman; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.

Mr. Schritter also is survived by: one brother, Chris of Idaho; and one sister, Tilly of Oregon.

Mrs. Schritter also is survived by: one brother, Armond of Michigan; and one sister, Sibyl of Oregon.

The Schritters were preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Belding.

Private services are planned in their former hometown of Chloride.

Lee Hayes

Lee Hayes died Wednesday Jan. 19 in Golden Valley. He was 66.

Mr. Hayes was born June 22, 1933 in Paris, Texas. He came to Mohave County 34 years ago from Riverside, Calif. and worked for 17 years for the Mohave County Sheriff's Office. He also served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.

Mr. Hayes is survived by: his wife, Susan Hayes of Golden Valley; two sons, Gary Hayes of El Centro, Calif., and David Jennings of Mechanicsville, Va.; one daughter, Lisa Hayes of Riverside, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

A memorial service for Mr. Hayes will be held Monday Jan. 24, 2000 at Golden Valley Baptist Church. Interment will be private.

Mary Priscilla Murphy

Mary Priscilla Murphy died Wednesday Jan. 19 in Golden Valley. She was 84.

Mrs. Murphy was born May 27, 1915 in Santa Fe, N.M. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Murphy is survived by: one daughter, Susan Hayes of Golden Valley; one son, Gregory F. Murphy of San Francisco; one sister, Lucille Sampson of San Diego; and one nephew.

Cremation is being handled by Sutton Crematory.

Joyce Edna Sharon

Joyce Edna Sharon died Tuesday Jan. 11, 2000 in Kingman. She was 72.

Mrs. Sharon was born June 28, 1927 in Rutland, Vt. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Sharon is survived by: her husband, Benjamin Sharon of Kingman; two daughters, Donna Colburn of Vancouver, Wash., and Dawn Bell of Centralia, Wash.; three sons, Gregory Sharon of Clear Lake, Calif., Dean Sharon of Gallup, N.M. and Mark Sharon; 11 grandchildren; and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by one son, Gary Sharon.

No services are planned. Sutton Crematory is handling cremation.

Muriel "Bunny" Parks

Muriel "Bunny" Parks of Kingman died Sunday Jan. 9, 2000, in Seligman. She was 76.

Mrs. Parks was born on June 11, 1923, in Chicago, Ill., and came to Mohave County six years ago from Palatine, Ill. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Parks is survived by: her husband, Robert Parks; one son, Larry Parks of Mesa; three daughters, Cheryl Wolfe of Kingman, Gail Rezer of Mesa, and Nancy Puzzo of Glendale Heights, Ill.; several grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today - Friday Jan. 21, 2000 - at St. Theresa's Church. Mrs. Parks will be interred in Chicago, Ill.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to St. Theresa's Church.

Ina L. Reed

Ina L. Reed died Monday Jan. 10, 2000, in Kingman. She was 59.

Mrs. Reed was born Jan. 17, 1940, in Los Angeles. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Reed is survived by: her husband, Ernest Reed of Kingman; one son, Larry W. Reed of Whittier, Calif.; one daughter, Marilee Reed of Kingman; her father, Robert Marquardt of Norwalk, Calif.; one sister, Nancy Campbell of Chino, Calif.; one brother, John Marquardt of Paramount, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at noon Saturday Jan. 15, 2000, at Sutton Memorial Funeral home. Cremation was handled by Sutton Crematory.

Flora Mae Prescott

Flora Mae Prescott of Kingman died Saturday Jan. 8, 2000, in Phoenix. She was 61.

Mrs. Prescott was born Oct. 10, 1938, in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada, and came to Kingman 2 1/2 years ago from Petaluma, Calif. She was a homemaker and a member of Welcome Wagon, the Petaluma Women's Club and the Bunco Club.

She was an avid ballroom dancer and enjoyed painting sewing and traveling.

Mrs. Prescott is survived by: her husband, William J. Prescott of Kingman; two daughter, Margaret Ann Braden, and Debra Jean Anderson, both of Kingman; two sisters, Carol Moore of California,. and Corrine Figone of Kingman; and two grandchildren.

No formal services were held.

Ina L. Reed

Ina L. Reed died Monday Jan. 10, 2000, in Kingman. She was 59.

Mrs. Reed was born Jan. 17, 1940, in Los Angeles. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Reed is survived by: her husband, Ernest Reed of Kingman; one son, Larry W. Reed of Whittier, Calif.; one sister, Nancy Campbell of Chino, Calif.; one brother, John Marquart of Paramount, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday Jan. 15, 2000, at Sutton Memorial Funeral home. The Rev. Peter Ernst will officiate. . Cremation was handled by Sutton Crematory.

Charlie Patterson

Charlie Patterson died Sunday Jan. 9, 2000 in Kingman. He was 94.

Mr. Patterson was born May 16, 1905 in Kentucky. He retired from the Graphics Communication Union in 1968 after 30 years. He lived in Kingman for the last 15 years.

Mr. Patterson is survived by: his wife, Dorothy of Kingman. He was preceded in death by two daughters.

No funeral service or arrangements have been announced.

Daniel Robert Lee

Daniel Robert Lee died Sunday Jan. 9, 2000.

Mr. Lee is survived by: one son, Tyrone Fielding of Peach Springs two sisters, Crystal Lee and Charmaine Cordova; four brothers, Falcon, Monza and Waylon Honga, all of Peach Springs, and Rikki Massey of Las Vegas, Nev.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday Jan. 15, 2000, at the Peach Springs gymnasium. Burial will be in the Peach Springs cemetery.

D.W. Hefley

D.W. Hefley, a former Kingman resident, died Monday Jan. 3, 2000, in Amarillo, Texas. He was 76.

Mr. Hefley was born on May 6, 1923, in Shamrock, Texas. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He came to Arizona in 1969, working as an operating engineer for Southern California Edison. He returned to Texas in 1990.

He was a member of Kingman Masonic Lodge No. 22 and the Order of Easter Star Chapter 17. He was a past president of the Kingman Shrine Club.

Mr. Hefley is survived by: his wife, Marion of Canyon, Texas; one daughter, Terri Hefley Fransen of Kingman; two stepdaughters, Sharon Clark of Clatskanie, Ore., and Janine Orsenigo of Bethel, Conn.; one stepsons, David McCollum of San Diego, Calif.; four sisters, Anna V. Kelly of Waco, Texas, Mary Helen Kelly of Temple, Texas; Margie Wallace of Amarillo, Texas, and Mildred Hill of Canyon, Texas; one brother, Jerry Dan Hefley of Wheeler, Texas; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held in Canyon, Texas, on Thursday Jan. 6, 2000. The family suggests memorials to the Kingman Shriners' Clothe A Child Fund.
