Harry Gordon Coffman

Harry Gordon Coffman died Saturday Dec. 25, 1999, in Kingman. He was 89.

Mr. Coffman was born May 19, 1910, in Greeley, Colo., and had been a road department superintendent. He was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church and served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Coffman came to Kingman in 1935 and worked as a mechanic and shop foreman at the Old Trails Garage. He opened an automobile dealership here after World War II with Ray and Lee Stephens. He later bought out the Stephens brothers and operated Coffman Motors until 1969. He then opened Coffman Marine Supply.

He was a member of the local Selective Service board and a former member and president of the Mohave County School Board. He was a Master of the Kingman Masonic Lodge No. 22 in 1953 and also past master. He achieved the 33rd degree, the highest level of the Masonic organization. He was a member of Kingman Elks Lodge No. 468 for more than 50 years.

Mr. Coffman is survived by: his wife, Alma Elizabeth Coffman; three sons, James H. Coffman of Silver Spring, Md., Merlyn Coffman of Kingman, and John Coffman of Las Cruces, N.M.; three sisters, Stella Brown of Perris, Calif., Dorothy Brown, also of Perris, and Helen Campbell of Oklahoma City, Okla.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday Dec. 29, 1999, at St. Johns United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. also on Wednesday at St. Johns with the Rev. Robert Cutlipp officiating. Graveside services will follow at Mountain View Cemetery under the direction of the Kingman Elks.

Jane Cribbs

Jane Cribbs died Thursday Dec. 23, 1999, in Kingman. She was 62.

Mrs. Cribbs was born Feb. 10, 1937 in Kenton, Ohio, and was an administrative services employee for the State of Arizona.

Mrs. Cribbs is survived by: one daughter, Jolene Whelpley of New River, Ariz.; one son, Allen Cribbs of Kingman; two sisters, Donna Comstock, and Sharon Kearns, both of Kenton, Ohio; and one brother, Ralph Zachariah of Kenton; and one grandchild.

Services will be held at a later date. Cremation will be handled by Sutton Crematory. The family suggests donations to the Mohave County DARE program, P.O. Box 1191, Kingman 86402.

Howard J. Wood

Howard J. "Woody" Wood died Monday Dec. 20, 1999 in Kingman. He was 79.

Mr. Wood was born Nov. 4, 1920 in Pittsburgh. He was a heavy equipment operator for 25 years, and served in the United States Army.

Mr. Wood is survived by: his wife, Judy A. Wood. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pastor Walt Roberts will preside over a memorial service for Mr. Wood at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Tuesday Dec. 28, 1999. Sutton Crematory is handling cremation arrangements.

Shelby Coin Crouch

Shelby Coin Crouch died Thursday Dec. 16, 1999 in Kingman. He was 66.

Mr. Crouch was born Dec. 2, 1933 in Livermore, Ky. He was a writer and served in the United States Army.

Mr. Crouch is survived by: two daughters, Beth Ross of Jackson, Miss. and Jacqueline Crouch of Atlanta; two sons, Mark Crouch and Scot Crouch, both of Flagler Beach, Fla.; and two sisters, Anna Faye Grey of Bowling Green, Ky. and Eva Rose Grimes of Orlando, Fla.

No service is planned for Mr. Crouch. Cremation is being handled by Sutton Crematory.

Donald E. Baca

Donald E. Baca of Henderson, Nev., a former Kingman resident, died Monday Dec. 13, 1999. He was 42.

Mr. Baca is survived by: his parents, Frank and Lola Baca of Henderson; two sisters, Marcella Bloomfield of Middletown, N.Y., and Nancy Finklea of Chicago, Ill; one brother, David Baca of Henderson; and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services were held Friday Dec. 17, 1999 at Palm Mortuary in Henderson.

James Alton Carter

James Alton Carter died Tuesday Dec. 14, 1999, in Kingman. He was 52.

Mr. Carter was born June 25, 1947, in Manhattan, N.Y. He served in the U.S. Army and was a physician's assistant for Native Americans in Peach Springs for 20 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was active in the Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Carter is survived by: his wife, Danielle Carter; four sons, James Daniel Carter, Christopher Anthony Carter, Nicholas David Carter, and David William Carter, all of Kingman; one sister, Sharon Frank of Nevada; one brother, Charles E. Carter of Nevada; three grandchildren; two nieces; and one nephew. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Alton and Alice Carter, and his grandparents.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today - Friday Dec. 17, 1999 - at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today, also at Sutton's. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday Dec. 18, 1999, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 317 Spring St. Father James Alling will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.

Ethel M. Rash

Ethel M. Rash died Wednesday Dec. 15, 1999, in Kingman. She was 74.

Mrs. Rash was born Oct. 13, 1925, in Los Angeles, and had been employed as a restaurant manager.

She is survived by: her husband, James C. Rash; two daughters, Eileen Rice of Lake Havasu City, and Vicki Carlson of Reno, Nev.; one sister, Katie Mazurkiewcz of Henderson, Nev.; one brother, Robert Cooper of Temple Bar, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three stepchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents, and one sister.

Private services were held. Cremation was handled by Sutton Crematory.

The family suggests memorial donations to: The Arizona Lung Association, 102 McDowell Road, Phoenix 85003.

Chester 'Chet' Cravath Grow

Chester 'Chet' Cravath Grow, a former resident of Chloride, died Dec. 4, 1999, in Gardener, Colo. He was 85.

Mr. Grow was born Nov. 15, 1914, in Montana to Elsie and Earl Winfield Grow and had lived in Montana, Washington, Kansas, Colorado and Arizona. He was graduated in 1942 from Los Angeles Chiropractic College and received a bachelor's degree in psychology at Wichita State University in 1954.

He is survived by: his wife, Alice Handforth Grow; and one son, Thomas Grow. He was preceded in death by: three children, Gretchen Grow I 1966, Allison Grow in 1979, and Fred James Grow in 1981.

Services were held in Colorado.

James Donald Stewart

James Donald Stewart died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, in Utah. He was 43.

He was born Sept. 8, 1956, in Blythe, Calif., and lived in the Kingman area for 20 years.

Mr. Stewart graduated from Kingman High School in 1974, joined the U.S. Army in 1976 and worked in construction.

He is survived by his parents, Cyril and Lois Stewart of Kingman; one brother, Kenneth Stewart of Cave Creek; two sisters, Brenda Cooper of Cloverdale, Ore., and Stella Hunt of Bullhead City; one son, Josh Durr of Phoenix; a grandson; and numerous aunts, uncles and nieces.

Mass will be held in his honor at noon Jan. 7, 2000, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kingman. The family is handling arrangements and visitation will be private.

Lucy G. Torres

Lucy G. Torres, a former resident of Kingman, died Thursday Dec. 16, 1999, in Tempe. She was 75.

Mrs. Torres was born Jan. 6, 1924, in Flagstaff and was a self-employed housekeeper.

She is survived by: one daughter, Adela Torres of Tempe; one son, Salvadore Garcia of Phoenix; and three sisters, Carmen Lopez and Angie Garcia, both of Flagstaff, and Josephine Esquevel of Visalia, Calif.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday Dec. 21, 1999, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Tuesday, also at Sutton's. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Father James Alling will officiate. Burial will be in MountainView Cemetery.

Tommie T. Thomas

Tommie T. Thomas died Tuesday Dec. 14, 1999, in Kingman. He was 66.

Mr. Thomas was born Nov. 27, 1933, in Henry, Neb., and came to Kingman 20 years ago from Downey, Calif. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the Disabled American Veterans of Wyoming. Mr. Thomas was a fan of team roping and attended church at the Full Gospel Lighthouse. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

Mr. Thomas is survived by: his wife, JoAnn Hamic (Jody Thomas) of Kingman; one son, Tommie T. Thomas Jr. of Las Vegas, Nev.; two stepsons, Rory Hamic of Fremont, Calif., and Edmund Hamic of Indianapolis, Ind.; one sister, Jo Ellen Coplea of Fort Collins, Colo.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his mother, father, one sister, and one brother.

No services were announced. Cremation was handled by Sutton Crematory.

Luella Mae Logiudice

Luella Mae Logiudice died Friday Dec. 10, 1999, in Kingman. She was 50.

Mr. Logiudice was born Oct. 1, 1949 in Lamar, Colo.

She was a homemaker and a member of First Southern Baptist Church.

Mrs. Logiudice is survived by: husband Jeffery P. Logiudice of Kingman; daughter Jaime Logiudice of Kingman; sister Cheryl Falkengren of Bullhead City; and sister Raelene Ulliman of Kingman.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Wednesday Dec. 15, 1999, at First Southern Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at the same location.

Robert G. Evensen

Robert G. Evensen died Friday Dec. 10, 1999. He was 78.

Mrs. Evensen was born March 12, 1921, in Chicago, Ill. He was a World War II veteran who served in the South Pacific with the Red Arrow Divison.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen Bernice (Smith) Evensen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Lucille Evensen, and one brother, Andrew J. Evensen.

Burial was at Mountain View Cemetery on Tuesday Dec. 14, 1999.

Elmer McDonald

Elmer McDonald of Peach Springs died Monday Dec. 13, 1999, in Kingman. He was 73.

Mr. McDonald was born March 2, 1926 in Tularosa, N.M. and had been employed as a cowboy at the Diamond A Ranch for 63 years.

Mr. McDonald is survived by: his wife, Audry McDonald of Peach Springs; four daughters, Allene Hambrick, Carolyn McDonald and Janice Ryff, all of Peach Springs, and Jo Ann Leist of Seligman; one sister, Lela Palko of Los Angeles; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday Dec. 18, 1999, at Seligman Community Church. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday Dec. 18, also at Seligman Community Church. Burial will be in the Seligman Cemetery.

Evelyn Louise Carter

Evelen Louise Carter, a former resident of Kingman, died Saturday Dec. 11, 1999, in Albuquerque, N.M. She was 51.

Mrs. Carter was born in Sterling, Colo., on Sept. 1, 1948. She had been employed as a cashier by Pick 'n Save Stores in Albuquerque at the time of her death. She was a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter No. 1594 in Kingman.

Mrs. Carter is survived by: her husband, Robert "Buzz" Carter of Albuquerque; her mother, Lavern Lovestedt of Pioche, Nev.; her father, Marvin Hedges of Tucson; brothers and sisters, Edith Stickler of St. Charles, Ill., Dennis Hedges of Kingman, Barbara Siler of Kingman, Peggy Brown of Kingman, Terry Hedges of Kingman, Trudy Hornick of East Canton, Ohio, Larry Pratt of Phoenix, and Roger Hedges of Portland, Ore.; 10 nieces and nephews; and 15 great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: one brother, Deryl; one sister, Teresa Hummel; two great-nieces; and one great-nephew.

Private services will be held Friday Dec. 17, 1999. Memorials may be sent to Robert Carter, 404 Virginia S.E. No. B, Albuquerque, N.M. 87107.
