John Elwin Shelley

John Elwin Shelley died Friday, March 3, 2000 in Kingman. He was 61.

Mr. Shelley was born on May 31, 1938 in Clifton, Ariz.

He worked in maintenance in the automobile industry and was a renowned leather craftsman and artist.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Mr. Shelley is survived by: six sisters, Dorothy Stork and Ruby Koivu both of California, Eleanor Coats, Evelyn Hatcher, Margie Smith and Bertie Lightfoot, all of Arizona; four brothers, Edward Shelley of Idaho, William Shelley of California, and Charlie Shelley and Arnold Thomas, both of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William E. Shelley and Edna Shull Osterman.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2000 at the Chloride Cemetery.

Virginia Taylor

Virginia Taylor died Saturday, March 4, 2000 in Kingman.

She was 70.

Mrs. Taylor was born on November 19, 1929 in Competion, Mo.

She was a homemaker and a member of Desert Crossroads Free Methodist Church.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by: her husband Elchard Hulse Taylor; mother Bernice; three daughters, Patricia Young of Indio, Calif., Gloria Boatman of Kingman, and Deborah Binggeli of Norwalk, Calif.; son Richard E. Taylor of Downey, Calif.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; eight sisters; six brothers; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at noon on Thursday, March 9, 2000 at Desert Crossroads Church.

Funeral Services will follow at 2 p.m. at the same location.

Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery.

Cindy Bock

Cindy Bock died Saturday, March 4, 2000, in Kingman.

She was 43.

Mrs. Bock was born on May 23, 1956 in Chicago, Ill.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Bock is survived by: her husband, Terry Bock of Kingman; mother Dorothy Dillon of Kingman; daughter Cori Bock of Kingman; two sons, Dennis and David Bock, both of Kingman; and two sisters, Lee Dillon of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Gayle Dillon-Hager of Upland, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lee Dillon and brother Daniel Dillon.

A memorial service, officiated by Rev. Robert Cutlipp, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2000, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home.

Cremation will be handled by Sutton Crematory.

Memorial donations may be made to the ALS Association, 270001 Agoura Road, No. 150, Callabasas Hills, Calif., 91303-5104.

Margaret Ann DeBruyn

Margaret Ann DeBruyn died on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2000 in Kingman.

She was 66.

Mrs. DeBruyn came to Kingman from Michigan 16 years ago.

A retiree, she was a member of the Good Sams Club.

Mrs. DeBruyn is survived by: her husband of 29 years, Peter J. DeBruyn of Kingman; four sons, Steven Walsh and Michael Walsh, both of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Kenneth Walsh and David DeBruyn, both of Grand Rapids, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at the DeBruyn home on March 2, 2000.

Mary Gwendolyn Menezes

Mary Gwendolyn Menezes, a part-time Kingman resident, died Sunday Feb. 20, 2000 in California.

She was 74.

She was born on Dec. 25, 1925, in Liverpool, Ohio.

Mrs. Menezes was a homemaker and belonged to the San Diego 500 Club and 200 Club and was a member of the Naturist Society.

She was a part-time resident of Kingman since 1991.

She is survived by: her husband, Joseph S. Menezes of Kingman; one daughter, Edith Drummond of La Mesa, Calif.; one son, Roger T. Drummond of Pacific Beach, Calif.; one stepson, Andrew P. Menezes of Grover Beach, Calif.; one sister Edith Govaerts of Richmond, Va.; and two grandchildren.

No services are planned.

Memorial donations may be made to breast cancer research.

Shane Michael Stone

Shane Michael Stone of Golden Valley died Friday Feb. 25, 2000. He was 52.

Mr. Stone was born Dec. 17, 1947, in Detroit, Mich., and was a superintendent at Mohave County's Hualapai Mountain Recreation Area.

He also worked with the Mohave County Planning Department.

He was a member of the Trails Association and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Mr. Stone is survived by: his wife, Donna J. Stone; two sons, Michael and Mathew Quick, both of Kingman; one brother, Shawn Stone of Alta Loma, Calif.; his grandmother, Edna Kelsey of Golden Valley; six grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew.

A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday March 4, 2000, at Hualapai Mountain Park, Recreation Area No. 1, with Pastor Walt Williams officiating.

Cremation is being handled by Sutton Crematory.

Roy Kenneth Ballou

Roy Kenneth Ballou died March 1, 2000.

He was 74.

Mr. Ballou was born Nov. 15, 1925 in Omaha, Neb.

He moved to Kingman 18 years ago from Long Beach, Calif.

He was a carpenter and served in the U.S. Marines during World War II.

Mr. Ballou is survived by: his wife, Mary Ballou of Kingman; four daughters, Piper Ballou of Kingman, Midge Smith of Kingman, Charla Wurdeman of Kingman and Carolyn Conley of Page; stepson Colin Christian of Mina, S.D.; sister Goldie Siedelman of Downey, Calif.; brother Harold Ballou of Wisconsin; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Ballou.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 4 at Bible Baptist Church, with Rev. Clay Shores officiating.

Cremation is being handled by Sutton Crematory.

Ramona Mahone

Ramona Mahone of Peach Springs died Monday Feb. 28, 2000. She was 74.

Mrs. Mahone was born May 10, 1925, in Diamond Creek, Ariz.

She was a craft maker and fry bread booth operator at the Mohave County Fair.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Mrs. Mahone is survived by: two daughters, Louise Benson and Rosella Siyuja, both of Peach Springs; two sons, Webster and Keith Mahone, both of Peach Springs; three sisters, Laura Belle Imus, Mary Jane Walema, and Phoebe Tapija, all of Peach Springs; one brother, Harvey Querta of Peach Springs; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; 25 nieces; 16 nephews; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Sterling Mahone; parents, Frosty and Annie Querta; two daughters, Louella Smith and Leonara Mahone; one son, Martin Mahone; four brothers, Ervin, Floyd, Wallace, and Pat ; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday March 4, 2000, in the Hualapai Tribal gym in Peach Springs.

LDS church officials will be in charge.

Burial will be in McGee Cemetery, Peach Springs.

Violet Marie Dynes

Violet Marie Dynes died Wednesday March 1, 2000, in Kingman.

She was 89.

Mrs. Dynes was born July 6, 1910, in Indianapolis, Ind.

She was a homemaker and a published poet.

She is survived by: two daughters, Mary Timmerman of Indianapolis, and Jo Ann Krisintu of Kingman; two sons, John Dynes of Moneta, Va., and Paul Dynes of Los Angeles; one sister, Buela Wiggs of Indianapolis; three brothers, Carl Ray and Le Roy Ray, both of Indianapolis, and Walter Ray of Russellville, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Monday March 6, 2000, at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, also at Sutton.

Father James Alling will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.

Paul F. Burgett

Paul F. Burgett died Friday Feb. 25, 2000 in Kingman.

He was 63.

Mr. Burgett was born July 31, 1936 in Olney, Ill. He worked in the electrical field as an outage specialist and was with Southern California Edison for 22 years.

He also was a member of Kingman Moose Lodge No. 1704, the Kingman Bowling Association, and Valle Vista Country Club.

Mr. Burgett is survived by: his wife, Audrey Burgett of Kingman; his mother, Margaret Hazelrigg; one daughter, Carrie Burgett of Kingman; three sons, Paul B. Burgett and C. Brad Burgett of Kingman, and Dwaynek Burgett of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Ruth Havener of Beacher City, Ill. and Cathrine Swaim of Chelsea, Iowa; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Visitation will be held at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday March 1, 2000.

A funeral service, officiated by the Rev. Mark Decker, will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday and will be followed by burial in Mountain View Cemetery.

The family has requested donations to Kingman Cancer Care, P.O. Box 561, Kingman 86402.

Marion Selonke

Marion Selonke died Saturday Feb. 26, 2000 in Kingman. She was 70.

Mrs. Selonke was born on May 29, 1929 in Chicago, Ill., and she came to Kingman 21 years ago from Chicago.

She worked for the Kingman Regional Medical Center in food service.

Mrs. Selonke is survived by: her husband, Edward Selonke of Kingman; one daughter, Deborah Matuga of Elk Grove Village, Ill.; one son, Michael Selonke of Kingman; four grandchildren; four sisters; and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held at the Grove Memorial Chapel in Elk Grove Village, Ill.
