Milo L. Ballinger

1914-2004

Milo L. Ballinger, of Pearce-Sunsites, died Feb. 19, in Sierra Vista, at the age of 89.

He was born in Mead, Colo. on August 9, 1914, to William H. and Lena (Birkle) Ballinger.

Milo served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and was honorably discharged in 1945 as a Chief Gunner's Mate.

He was retired from the Colorado Dept. of Transportation as a District Superintendent. He was a Golden Gloves boxer and was President of the Young Democrats.

Milo was a member of the Community Church of Sunsites, Life member of Willcox Elks Lodge 2131 in Willcox, Life member of VFW Post 2601 in Longmont, Colo. and P.E.R.A of Denver, Colo.

On August 30, 1942, in Nebraska, he married Margaret Louise Markham. They moved to Sunsites in 1990.

Survivors include his wife Margaret Louise of Sunsites, daughters Mileen (Lee) Kirkpatrick of Satellite Beach, Fla. and Janice (Cal) Pierce of Berryville, Va. and grandchildren Renee, Robin and Ronald Kirkpatrick.

Also surviving is his sister-in-law Ann Ballinger of Longmont, Colo., nephew Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Ballinger, Jr. and niece Cathy Winter both of Longmont, Colo. Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother and one sister.

Memorial services were held on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at 2 p.m. at the Community Church of Sunsites, with private cremation at Westlawn Crematorium.

Contributions may be made to The Community Church of Sunsites Memorial Fund, Treasure and Lansing Road, Pearce, Ariz. 85625.

Services under the direction of Westlawn Chapel, Mortuary and Crematorium of Willcox.

Lloyd E. Morris

1940-2004

Lloyd E. Morris, of Willcox died Feb. 20, 2004, at the age of 63.

He was born in Topeka, Kan. , on August 9, 1940, to Martin M. and Lavada M. (Hamilien) Morris.

Lloyd moved to Arizona in 1953 and to Willcox in 1958. He served in the U.S. Air Force, and was a truck driver. Lloyd enjoyed seeing the world behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler and before he became ill he showed his loving wife Ruby some of the sites across our great nation that he enjoyed so much.

On December 31, 1991, in Willcox, he married Ruby Estes.

Survivors include his wife Ruby of Willcox, brother Melvin (Ellen) Morris of Willcox, a niece Connie Diggs and great nephew Derrick Diggs, along with a host of many close friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, Feb. 27, 2004, beginning at 3:30 p.m. at Westlawn Chapel.

Cremation was conducted at Westlawn Crematorium. Contributions may be made to the Northern Cochise Community Hospital, c/o For Memorial Plaque, 901 W. Rex Allen Drive, Willcox, Ariz. 85643.

Services under the direction of Westlawn Chapel, Mortuary and Crematorium of Willcox.

Anita A. Cox

1920 -2004

Anita A. Cox, of Willcox died March 25, 2004 at the age of 83.

She was born in Bonita on July 26, 1920 to Ramon and Delfina (Moraga) Ayala.

Anita has lived her entire life in Bonita and the Willcox area.

Survivors include her daughter Mary Mendoza and son Jeff Gonzales, both of Willcox; and her sister Rita Vindiola of Willcox.

Also surviving are her grandchildren, Carlos Mendoza, Rebecca Valenciano, Erika Valenciano, Jeffrey Gonzales and Valerie Gonzales.

Preceding her in death was her parents and two sisters, Lala Valenzuela and Ramona Torres. Rosary was offered on Monday, March 29, at 10 a.m. at Westlawn Chapel, with burial following in Sunset cemetery.

Services were under the direction of Westlawn Chapel, Mortuary and Crematorium of Willcox.

Randolph H. "Smoky" Moses

1936 - 2004

Randolph H. "Smoky" Moses, of Elfrida, died March 26, 2004 at 3:30 a.m. at Tucson Medical Center at the age of 67.

Smoky was preceded in death by his parents Randolph and Alliene Moses, and a brother Ronald Duane Moses all of Ralls, Texas.

His children survive him: one daughter, Elizabeth Moses of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; and one son, Randolph H. " Trey" Moses III, of Tyler, Texas.

Also surviving are two grandchildren, Sarah and Thomas Moses, and a daughter-in-law, all of Tyler.

Smoky had two sisters, Bettye Noble of Muleshoe, Texas and Ann Kinney of Houston, Texas. Also surviving is one brother-in-law, Jimmy Kinney of Houston, Texas. Smoky had many friends and family.

Memorial Services will be held today, Wednesday, March 31, at 4 p.m. at Westlawn Chapel in Willcox.

Contributions may be made to Charles Wm. Leighton, Jr. Hospice, 319 W. Grant, Willcox, Ariz., 85643.

Services are under the direction of Westlawn Chapel, Mortuary and Crematorium of Willcox.

Harley L. Parks

1936-2004

Harley L. Parks, of Cochise, died March 26, 2004 at the age of 68.

He was born in Farwell, Texas on Jan. 15, 1936 to Harley R. and Dorothy F. (Lawson) Parks.

Harley served in the U.S. Army and was a retired automotive garage owner and operator. He came to Arizona in 1971 and to Cochise in 1988. His greatest love was his cowboy blacksmith artistry.

Survivors include his wife Peggy of Cochise; daughters Rebecca (David) Kennedy of Tijeras, N.M., and Lena Colette Fiedler of Albuquerque, N.M.; and his brother Bill (Darlene) Parks of Longview, Texas.

Also surviving are his grandchildren Daniel Brant, Dustin Fielder, Dallas Fielder, Nicole Parks, Nicolas Kennedy and Matthew Kennedy; and his great-grandchildren James Desjardins and Donovan Brant.

Preceding him in death was his parents and a son Brian Lee Parks.

Visitation was held Monday, March 29, at noon, at Westlawn Chapel, with funeral services at 1 p.m. at Westlawn Chapel.

Private burial took place in Cochise cemetery.

Services were under the direction of Westlawn Chapel, Mortuary and Crematorium of Willcox.

William Henry

1935-2004

William Henry, 69, died Thursday, March 25, 2004, in Willcox. William was born in Maxwell, Ind., on Feb. 8, 1935 to Ethel Leona Henry.

Services are pending. Call Morris Safford Funeral Home.

Theola M. Lane

1921-2004

Theola M. Lane of Willcox died March 19, 2004 at the age of 82. She was born in Barneston, Neb. on Dec. 7, 1921 to Frank and Emelia (Nespor) Pacha.

Theola came to Willcox in 1969 from Nebraska and was a cook for the Willcox Public Schools. She was a member of the Willcox United Methodist Church, Lambda Chi Omega Sorority Beta Chapter, and the NCCH Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include her sons Robert W. (Pat) of Bagdad, and Richard D. (Sandy) of Willcox; and her daughter Shirley A. (Dave) Drew of San Marcos, Texas.

Also surviving is her sister Rosella Searcey of Wymore, Neb.; and her brother Francis John Pacha of Hanover, Kan.; along with nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was her husband Robert, her parents, and one brother.

Memorial services were held Monday, March 22, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Willcox United Methodist Church.

Cremation was conducted at Westlawn Crematorium with private burial of her cremains in Sunset cemetery.

Contributions may be made to the Willcox United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 307, Willcox, Ariz., 85644 or Lambda Chi Omega Sorority, Beta Chapter, P.O. Box 298, Willcox, Ariz., 85644; or Charles Wm. Leighton, Jr. Hospice, Inc., 319 W. Grant, Willcox, Ariz., 85643.

Services were under the direction of Westlawn Chapel, Mortuary and Crematorium of Willcox.

Vera Mae Anderson

1913 - 2003

Vera Mae Anderson, longtime resident of Elfrida, passed away in Willcox, on Dec. 25, 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband T.J. Anderson in 1987.

Vera was born in Maude, Okla., on Nov. 6, 1913. After moving from Oklahoma to New Mexico, she graduated from high school in Deming, N.M. She met her husband in Deming and was married in April 1937. In 1948, she and her husband moved to Elfrida and bought a farm, which they farmed for over 40 years. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in April 1987.

Surviving are her two brothers, J.P. (Kathleen) Kennedy, Gene (June) Kennedy; several nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, and many loving friends.

Pallbearers were: Joe McDonald, Harvey Allen, Brian Allen, Paul Ellis, Dale Hedges and Gene McDonald. Honorary Pallbearers were Tom Columbus, Ross Wells, Jerry Ellis, Ernie White Jr., Paul White, Danny White, Don Bartol Sr., Don Bartol Jr., Glen Allison, Mark Anderson, Matt Anderson and Charles Waters.

Funeral services were at the Elfrida Southern Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29. Westlawn Mortuary in Willcox is in charge of arrangements.

Burial was at the McNeal cemetery.

The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Deming Luna Mimbres Museum, 301 S. Silver Ave., Deming, N.M., 88030.
