Orville E. Wagoner, 86, of Apache Junction, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2002. Mr. Wagoner, a retired pressman of 33 years from W.F. Hall Printing of Chicago, Illinois and decorated Veteran of WWII, born in Delphos, Ohio, is survived by his wife Mildred, daughters Marilyn Di Piero and Alice Jean Regelli, sister Shirley MacArthur, 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Mr. Wagoner was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Lucas. Family suggests memorials be sent to First Baptist Church, 235 S. Richard Ray Wells, 48, of Apache Junction, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2002. Mr. Wells, a dry wall hanger and Vietnam Veteran was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is survived by his daughter Sondra Mullanex of Maryland, Richard Mullanex of Maryland, mother Virginia Wells of Apache Junction, sisters Tina Marie Bodom, Linda Ann Peterman, and Marlene Kay Gleason, and 3 grandchildren. Dorothy (Dot) Terrell, of Apache Junction, formerly of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away June 26, 2002. Survivors include her husband, A.C. (Jack) Terrell, daughter Pat Gautier, 3 grandsons and 8 great-grandchildren. Apache Junction Mortuary and Roeder Mortuary handled the arrangements.

Edna Alberta Bochenek

Edna Alberta Bochenek passed away Sunday, June 23, 2002 after a short illness. Mrs. Bochenek was born in Nunica, MI in 1924 to George and Annabelle Jones. She married Ted F. Bochenek in 1941 and was married 47 years beofre his death in 1987. Mrs. Bochenek began traveling with her husband, Ted, right after they married. In 1947 the family headed to Alaska, where they settled in Spenard, now Anchorage. After retirement, Mr. & Mrs. Bochenek settled in Apache Junction where the family home was kept during the winter months. Edna Bochenek had a wonderful life and is not at peace. Survivors include daughters June (Fred) Grunow and Jean (Ray) Simmons, 3 grandsons, 2 great-granddaughters and 2 great-grandsons.

Mark J. Meadows

Mark J. Meadows, 44, of Apache Junction, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2002. Mr. Meadows, an Army Veteran, born in Anaheim, CA, is survived by his Fiancee Shirley Mongar, son Matthew Meadows, mother RoJean Meadows, Father Raymond Meadows, sisters Melanie Brown and Desiree Morphis, brothers Chet, Chad and Scott Meadows. Kenneth M. Siemering, 47, of Apache Junction, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2002. Jean Hagedorn, daughters Vicki Amacher and Lori Kokosh, son Jeffery Lee Hagedorn, father in law Lee Hoyer, sisters Darlene Crouse and Loretta Outcalt, brother Richard Hagedorn, many nieces and nephews and 10 grandchildren. Ronald Bertrand Batway

Ronald Bertrand Batway, 61, of Gold Canyon, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2002. Mr. Batway, a mechanic, born in Lansing, Michigan, is survived by his companion Linda Davis, daughter Jewell Liane Batway, son Buck Montana Batway, and sisters Patricia Prince and Sherrie Fisher. Apache Junction Mortuary handled all arrangements.

William C. "Bill" Falk

William C. "Bill" Falk, a long time resident of Apache Junction, passed away June 28, 2002 in Palos Hills, Illinois. He was 90 years old.

In 1958, Bill filed on mining claims four miles northeast of Apache Junction, where he worked and lived for 42 years.

Bill was a charter member, if not the originator, of the Superstition Amateur Radio Club, and operated station K7WJF in Apache Junction until he moved to Illinois to be near his daughter. He is survived by is daughter, Jeanette , and a son, David, of Wauconda, Illinois.

Ronald L. Rogers

Ronald L. Rogers, 59, of Apache Junction, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2002. Mr. Rogers, a mechanical engineer for the Federal Government, born in Artesia, California, is survived by his wife Marilyn, sons Brad Roberts and Chris Roberts, and grandsons Blake Roberts and Scott Roberts. Apache Junction Mortuary handled all arrangements.

Lu Verne H. Borden

Lu Verne H. Borden, 56, of Apache Junction, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2002. Mr. Borden, an electronics technician, born in Lack Haven, PA, is survived by his wife Nancy, daughters Jolene Fowler and Lisa Castillo, stepdaughter Corina Lange, stepson Michael Lange, mother Elizabeth Updike, sisters Nedra Loomis and Michele Smith, brother Richard Borden and 2 grandchildren. Apache Junction Mortuary handled all arrangements.

Lt. Col. Lawrence F. Liberty

Lt. Col. Lawrence F. Liberty, 85, of Gold Canyon, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2002. Mr. Liberty, a retired Air Force pilot, born in Russell, PA, is survived by his wife Granada Liberty, daughter Sharon Francis Smith, son Lawrence Fred Liberty Jr., 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Care handled all arrangements.

William Emerson Service

William Emerson Service, 81, of Show Low, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2002. Mr. Service, a WWII Veteran of the Air Force, is survived by his wife Amanda D. Service, daughters Colleen S. Shannon-Pettit and Debra J. Myrick, sons William E. Service, Jr., John R. and Douglas K. Service, nephew Richard Service and niece Barbara Wood. All memorials are being sent to MMRF, 3 Forest St., New Canaan, CT 06840. Apache Junction Mortuary handled all arrangements.

Keith M. Tidball

Keith M. Tidball, 69, of Kalispell, MT, passed away Wednesday, July 17, at his home in Apache Junction. Mr. Tidball, born June 9, 1933 in Faith, SD to Mae and Volney Tidball, graduated from Faith High School in 1951. On October 3, 1953, he married Lois Marie Reynolds in Sturgis, SD. Mr. Tidball was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1953 and served in the Korean War.

Upon completion of his military service, Mr. and Mrs. Tidball lived in Faith, SD until 1962, when they relocated to Kalispell, MT. Mr. Tidball worked in the C & C Plywood plant, later purchased by Plum Creek, in Kalispell until his retirement in 1993. Following his retirement, he and his wife again relocated to Apache Junction where he resided during the fall and winter months. Mr. Tidball returned to the Kalispell, MT area during the summer months until failing health caused by complications of diabetes prevented his return in 2002.

Mr. Tidball is survived by his son Richard, two grandsons and a granddaughter, all of Sammamish, WA. He was preceded in death in 1992 by his wife of 39 years, Lois M. Tidball. Services are being held in Kalispell, MT. Memorials are being requested by the family to be made to the American Diabetes Association.

John A. Ahmann

John A. Ahmann, 69, a long time resident of Apache Junction, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 16, 2002. Mr. Ahmann was a graduate of Northwestern University in Chicago, IL, served in the military, taught school a short while before working for Kennecott Copper Co. in Kearny, AZ. Mr. Ahmann is survived by his wife Alicia, sister Mary Hallett, stepchildren and step-grandchildren. Mr. Ahmann was laid to rest in Chicago, IL.

Mary H. Stewart

Mary H. Stewart, 84, of Apache Junction, passed away Friday, July 19, 2002. Mrs. Stewart, a retired supervisor of Motorola, devoted her time to her beloved desert home on North Ironwood and worked part time at a local nursery. She volunteered her services at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum for many years and later became afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease.

Mrs. Stewart is survived by her son Victor "Scott" Hoskins of Apache Junction, sister Mrs. F. W. Robinson (Joan) of Boise, Idaho, several grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Cremation by Arizona After Care. She will be missed by all that knew her.

George (Pete) R. Austin

George (Pete) R. Austin, 72, of Apache Junction, passed away Monday, August 5, 2002. Mr. Austin, a Korean War Veteran and Combat Engineer, born in Pyrites, New York, is survived by his wife Irene Austin, daughter Sandra Western, sons Michael, Timothy, Steven and Joseph Austin, sister Patricia Earli, brothers Francis and Harry Austin and 4 grandchildren. Memorials are being sent to Hospice of the Valley, 2222 S. Dobson Rd., #401, Mesa, AZ 85202-6491 and to the American Cancer Society, 2929 S. 48th St., Tempe, AZ 85282. Alice L. Dobson, 93, of Apache Junction, passed away Friday, July 19, 2002. Mrs. Dobson, a homemaker, born in Hastings, Michigan, is survived by her sister Marjory (Willard) Mack, brother Dr. Robert (Bev) Pilgrim and several nieces and nephews. Apache Junction Mortuary handled all arrangements.

James R. Pipp, 53, of Apache Junction, passed away Friday, August 2, 2002. Mr. Pipp, a Viet Nam Veteran of the Marine Corps and member of IBW Local #640, born in Chicago, Illinois, is survived by his wife Loretta Pipp, daughters Carrie L. and Colleen R. Pipp, mother Margaret Pipp, sister Mary Ellen Palmgren, brother John Pipp and grandson James Patitsas. Apache Junction Mortuary handled all arrangements.

Vincent Riccobono, 87, of Apache Junction, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2002. Mr. Riccobono, a WWII Army Veteran and local Barber, born in Washington, D.C., is survived by his wife Rae Riccobono, daughter Linda (Nick) Incersa, son Tom (Debbie) Riccobono, brothers Abe and Taft Riccobono and 2 grandchildren, Tracie Barnett and Rachel Eissler. Laurence J. Weikum

Laurence J. Weikum, 74, of Apache Junction, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2002. Mr. Weikum, a WWII Navy Veteran and awning installer, born in Oklahoma, is survived by his sons Shawn and Michael Ellis and 4 grandchildren. Apache Junction Mortuary handled all arrangements.

Kevin Combs

Kevin Joseph Combs, 20, born in Mesa on January 8, 1982, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2002. Kevin graduated with the Apache Junction High School Class of 2000. Kevin continued his education for a semester at Dakota Weslyn University in South Dakota. He returned to Arizona and was attending Mesa Community College for a degree in Construction Management. Kevin is survived by his mother Nancy, sister Stephanie and father Stephen. Countless other loved ones and friends will sorely miss him. Services were held on Friday, August 16, 2002 at Saint George Catholic Church, 300 E. 16th Avenue in Apache Junction. Arrangements were made by Mariposa Garden Memorial Park and Funeral Care in Mesa. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that contributions be made in the name of Kevin Combs Memorial Fund to Gold Canyon Elementary School, Apache Junction Unified School District #43, 5810 S. Alameda, Gold Canyon, AZ 85218.

Shaun A. Stevens, 23, of Apache Junction, passed on to something greater on Monday, August 5, 2002. Shaun was a heavy equipment mechanic, born in Phoenix and is survived, and will be greatly missed, by his beautiful twins, son Sebastian and daughter Carmen, Parents James and Tina, Mom Jan and Grandpa Gary, sisters Amber, Amanda and Mary, brothers Chris and James Jr., uncle Scott, aunts Sally and Cindy, cousins Sarah, Butch, Tanya, Amy, Ken, Jimmy and Andrea, nephew Jonathan and niece Ashley along with many friends. He dazzled all with his smile and talents. Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Mesa, handled all arrangements.

Torrey B. Peterson, Jr.

Mr. Torrey B. Peterson, Jr., 77, of Apache Junction, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2002.

Mr. Peterson, an employee of the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years, born in St. Paul, MN, is survived by his wife Alfreda "Freddie", sons Bruce, Brian and Carl, 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Constance L. Wahl

Constance L. Wahl, 81, of Apache Junction, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2002.
