Frances Dollar Gilmore, 76, died February 9, 2004, in Farmington, New Mexico. She was born in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, on September 13, 1927, to Elza Lee and Cova (Lucas) Ellegood. She married C.D. "Johnny" Dollar of Ajo; he preceded her in death. She lter married Jim Gilmore. At the time of her death, they lived in Farmington, New Mexico. She is survived by her husband, he children and stepchildren, and other family members. Services were held at Cope Memorial Chapel in Farmington; burial was in Memory Garden.

Marion Foust, 84, died February 4, 2004, in Mesa. She was born February 4, 1920, in La Porte, Indiana. She worked for GTE for 40 years and was personnel manager when she retired. She and her husband moved to Arizona from Oregon in 1980. She is survived by her husband, Delbert Foust of Ajo, and by other family members. Services were held in Ajo Calvary Baptist Church.

Bille Marie Lemieux, 77, died February 5, 2004, in Sun City West. She was born in Keyes, Oklahoma, on March 29, 1926, to William & Mary Harman. She came to Ajo from Oklahoma in 1933 and lived here for the next nine years. She married Milton L. Lemieux in Phoenix on September 11, 1946. At the time of her death, she was making her home in Greer. She is survived by her husband, he son and daughter, and other family members. Services were private.

Trudy Le Wallis, 41, died December 14, 2003, in a Phoenix hospice. She was born March 25, 1962, in Fort Worth, Texas. She married James Wallis on March 17, 1994, and the two moved to Ajo where they were the proprietors of the La Siesta Motel. She is survived by her husband, her son and daughters, her infant grandson, her parents, and other family members. Memorial services were held at Calvary Baptist Church on December 20.

Martha Sullivan Korn, 48, died December 5, 2003, in Miami. She was born in Ajo November 16, 1955, to Bill and Catherine Sullivan. She married John Korn on December 11, 1982. She was a teacher and was business manager of her husband's trucking company. She is survived by her husband, her mother, her son, and other family members. There will be no services.

Scott W. Lindner, 47, died December 8, 2003, in a Phoenix hospital. He was born December 1, 1956, in Douglas to Marilyn and Kenneth W. Lindner. He was an Army veteran. He was a craftsman and owned Southwest Sandstone. He is survived by his parents, his brother and sisters, and other family members. Graveside memorial services were held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on December 15.

Norman Chester Leatherwood, 88, died December 1, 2003, in Tucson. He was born in Ladonia, Texas, on November 22, 1915, to Sara Josephine & Fate Leatherwood. He came to Ajo in 1940 and worked for Phelps Dodge, retiring in 1973. He married Reba Inez Petty on November 19, 1943. He is survived by his wife, his son and daughters, and other family members. Services were held in the Ajo Federated Church on December 6; burial was in the Ajo Cemetery.

Jesus M. Miranda, 77, died in Phoenix on November 24, 2003. He was born April 14, 1926, in Atil, Sonora, Mexico, to Antonio and Manuela (Monge) Miranda. He married Graciela Robles in Los Angeles, California. He was a paint miller who retired in California in 1988. He had lived in Ajo the last twelve years. He is survived by his wife, his son and daughters, and other family members. Private memorial services are being planned.

Harriet Mendez, 66, of Camp Verde, died September 3, 2003. She was born January 11, 1937, in Clarkdale to Rachel (Brown) and Harry Hood Sr. She was a former Ajo resident who worked as a nurse's aide at New Cornelia Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Juan O. Mendez, by her daughters and son, and by other family members. Mass was celebrated in St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Camp Verde; burial was in Valley View Cemetery.

Delfina Torres Ornelas, 65, died January 4, 2004, in Goodyear. She was born September 30, 1938, in Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico, to Francisca Rodriquez & Ernesto Torres Maldonado. She came to Ajo in 1964 and lived here for 39 years. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Edward Ornelas, by her sons and daughters, and by other family members. Mass was celebrated in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church; burial was in Ajo Cemetery.

Jean McGinnis, 72, died January 18, 2004, in a hospice in Glendale. She was born September 14, 1931, in Marion, Ohio, to Larry & Beulah May. She married Richard McGinnis on December 31, 1949, and they moved to Ajo in 1950. After she and her husband moved to Glendale in 1983, she began a 16-year career with Dillards. She is survived by her husband, her son and daughter, and other family members. Memorial services were held in Peoria.

Robert Edward Simpson, 33, known to his friends as Bo, died near Williams on November 21, 2003. He was born in Ajo on December 31, 1969, to buck & Shirley Simpson. He was a cowboy and farrier who was working as a bus mechanic for the school district in Kingman at the time of his death. He is survived by his brother and sister and other family members. Graveside services were held January 24 in the Ajo Cemetery.

Thomas G. Beal, 86, died January 10, 2004, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He was born August 3, 1917, in Albany, Oklahoma, to Joe & Beulah Beal. He married Lillian Lathum there on august 6, 1939, and they came to Ajo in 1942, living here until 1963. He was a retired auto mechanic and was making his home in Gene Autry, Oklahoma. Graveside services were held in the Gene Autry Cemetery on January 14.

George Piveral, 86, died January 20, 2004. He and his wife, Liz, had lived at Coyote Howls in Why for 15 years before moving to Benson. He is survived by his wife, his sons, daughter, and other family members. Memorial services have been held in Benson.

Robert Glass, 73, died in Casa Grande on January 23, 2004. He was born May 15, 1930, in Panama, Iowa, to Dan and Mae Glass. He was a retired truck mechanic. He and his wife, Donna, came to Ajo in 1994. He is survived by his wife, his sons and daughters, and other family members. Services were held in the Ajo Federated Church.

Etelvina Perez Garcia, 81, died January 26, 2004, in Tucson. She was born in Caborca, Sonora, Mexico, on May 25, 922, to Reyes Perez & Dolores Ortiz de Perez and, after the death of her mother, was raised by her aunt and uncle, Josefa Ortiz de Celaya and Antonio Celaya. She married Ajo copper miner Augustine S. Garcia in 1947. She was a businesswoman who supervised properties in Mexico and Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by he sons and daughters and other family members. Mass was celebrated in Most Holy Trinity Parish in Tucson; rosary was recited in Douglass Funeral Home in Ajo. Burial was in Ajo Cemetery.

Gladys K. Brown, 87, died January 26, 2004, in Tucson. She was born June 1, 1916, in Hope, Arkansas, to Mattie N. (Ross) and Henry Yarberry. She married Garland Brown in Hope on December 27, 1933. The couple moved to Ajo in 1943. She worked at Martin Sandretto's bakery as a young woman. She is survived by her husband, her daughter, and other family members. Services were held in Ajo Calvary Baptist Church; burial was in the Ajo Cemetery.

Richard Valadez, 15, died February 17, 2004, in Ajo. He was born in Phoenix on October 18, 1988, to Yvonne Carmello and Victor Raul Valadez. He came to Ajo from Tucon in 1995. He was an eighth grade student. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother, sisters, grandparents, and other family members. Services were held in Douglass Funeral Home; burial was in Childs Cemetery.

Jay Ward Miller, 56, died February 17, 2004, in Phoenix. He was born July 27, 1947, in Norfolk, Nebraska, to Hallie Pearl and Ward D. Miller. He moved to Ajo as a child in 1954 and was graduated from high school here in 11965. After six years in the Navy, he moved to Phoenix and worked in real estate. He is survived by his wife, Patti Miller, by his son, and other family members. Services were held in the family home.

Russell Jameson, 74, known as Rusty, died at his home in San Diego, California, on January 30, 2004. He was born February 18, 1930, in Coleman, Texas, to Marlin and Lottie Jameson. He came to Ajo in 1941 and lived here until 1961. He married Pat Lyons in San Diego, California, in 1950. He is survived by his wife, son, daughter, and other family members.

Wanema Mead Webster, 79, died March 13, 2004, in Phoenix. She was born april 25, 1924, in Lenna, Oklahoma, to Minnie (Rutherford) and William Owen. She came to Ajo in 1949. A homemaker, she also worked for a while as a school custodian. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Howard Mead, Dean Ritter, and Hugh Webster, by three sons, and two grandsons. She is survived by a daughter, a son, and other family members. Services have been held in the Ajo First Assembly of God Church; burial was in the Ajo Cemetery.

June Marcus, 88, died March 17, 2004, at her home in Ajo. She was born June 9, 1915, in Chicago, Illinois, to Rose (Wishnic) and Samuel Siegel. She married Lawrence Marcus on December 31, 1947. She was an award winning writer. She came to Ajo in 1993. She was preceded in death by her husband; she is survived by her son and other family members. Memorial services were held in Douglass Funeral Home; burial will be in Shalom Memorial Park in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

Juanita "Sissy" Gibson, 82, died February 27, 2004, in Keota, Oklahoma. She was born October 5, 1921, in McCurtain, Oklahoma, to Emma (Derryberry) and John Nixon. She and her husband, Bill Gibson, came to Ajo in 1952. She worked at the movie theatre and drive-in. She left Ajo in 1966, moving to Gila Bend and then to Oklahoma in 1969. She was preceded in death by her husband; she is survived by her daughter, sons, and other family members. Services were held in Oklahoma.

B. June Babcock died December 28, 2003, in Phoenix. She was born June 7, 1922, to Frank and Maude Gelvin in Littleton, Colorado. She married Charles Babcock in 1944. She was an artist and active in community affairs. She was preceded in death by her husband; she is survived by her son, daughter, and other family members. A celebration of her life was held at the Masonic Hall in Ajo on January 10. Her ashes were scattered in Colorado mountains.

Hattie Lenorah Wombacher, 92, died December 29, 2003, at her home in Ajo. She was born October 23, 10911, in Kingman to Mary Viola (Hill) and Holy Anderson Miller. She married Robert Oliver Wombacher in Prescott on December 29, 1929. She was nurse and worked at several hospitals in Arizona, including the one in Ajo. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter. She is survived by a daughter and other family members. Services were held in Douglass Funeral Home; burial was in Ajo Cemetery.

Elaine Lucille McSherry, 82, died December 30, 2003, in a motor vehicle accident south of Why. She was born in Barberton, Ohio, on September 12, 1921, to Adrian and Hazel (Mock) Myers. She was a teacher and worked for Child Evangelism Fellowship. She married David McSherry on October 20, 1984, in Fort Collins, Colorado. She is survived by her husband, by her sons, stepsons, and stepdaughter, and other family members. Services were held in Ajo Calvary Baptist Church; burial was in Ajo Cemetery.

Carol Rogers died at her home in Suquamish, Washington, on December 27, 2003. She was born in Burlington, Washington. She was a winter resident of Ajo and an artist. She is survived by her husband, Jim Rogers, her son and daughter, and other family members. Services have been held in Washington.

Jane Susong, 98, died in Reno, Nevada, on December 26, 2003. She was born September 12, 1905, in Fort Thomas, Kentucky, to Charles W. and Helen DeMar Helm. She married Dunbar Susong in July 1927. She and her husband lived in Ajo for eight years. Her husband preceded her in death after 71 years of marriage; she is survived by her sons, a sister, and other family members. Services have been held in Nevada.

Margaret Elene Helms, 63, died April 5, 2004, in Glendale. She was born July 20, 1940, in Morenci to Andrew M. and Margaret Elene Watkins. She came to Ajo in 1958 and met William Helms. They were married July 10, 1958. She lived here for 27 years and worked for the Motor Vehicle Department. She moved to Pinetop-Lakeside in 1985 and later to Show Low, where she retired. She is survived by her husband, her daughters, and other family members. Services have been held in Show Low.

Linda Lee Sabraw, 59, died at her home in Ajo on January 4, 2004. She was born March 27, 1944, in Zilwaukee, Michigan. She was a teacher in Michigan, overseas, and in Ajo where she had lived for the last twenty years. She was also a catechism teacher in Michigan and Ajo. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers; she is survived by her sisters and brothers and other family members. Memorials will be held later in Michigan and in Ajo.

Ethel Virginia Hunter, 81, died March 11, 2004, in Sun City. She was born in Taft California, on March 17, 1922, to Louis Barton & Ethel Louisa (Wollman) Hess. She came to Ajo in 1930 and lived her the rest of her life. She was a payroll clerk for Phelps Dodge before retiring. She is survived by her brothers and other family members. Services were held in Ajo Calvary Baptist Church; burial was in Ajo Cemetery.
