Dennis R. MacKinney
January 30, 1943 - June 01, 2004

Dennis Roy MacKinney, 61, of Clarkdale died June 1. He was born January 30, 1943 in Elgin, Illinois.
He was a graduate of Elgin High School and was a retired retail business owner. He previously had worked in ranching. He enjoyed woodworking, ranching, his children, grandchildren, friends and family.
Mr. MacKinney leaves his wife of 12 years, Elizabeth; a son, Thomas Rand MacKinney of Winsor, California; two stepdaughters, Ronda Long of Phoenix and Mary Gehrke of Oregon City, Oregon; a brother, Douglas MacKinney of Chicago, Illinois; four grandchildren, Jessica, Nicole, Ivyrose and Logan.
There are no public services planned.
Westcott Funeral Home served the family.

Blanca Martinez Stevenson
June 02, 1946 - May 28, 2004

Blanca M. Stevenson, 57, a resident of Cottonwood, died May 28. She was born June 2, 1946 in Mexico City, Mexico.
Blanca worked as a caregiver, and she also attended Yavapai College. Her hobbies included hiking, knitting, traveling, gardening and flowers. Mrs. Stevenson was an avid reader, and she enjoyed helping her friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Leroy Stevenson. She is survived by her son, William D. Stevenson of Ecsinore, CA; her sister Enriqueta M. Castaneda of San Diego, CA; and one grandchild.
A memorial service is to be held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Sunday June 6, at 6:00 P.M.
Any donations may be made to the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 51 W. Mingus Ave. Cottonwood, AZ.

Frank Carter Hughes
April 11, 1933 - June 02, 2004

Frank Carter Hughes, 71, of Lake Montezuma, Arizona died on Tuesday, June 2nd. He was born April 11, 1933 in Sturgis, South Dakota.
Mr. Hughes was a retired mechanic and truck driver. Earlier, he had also worked as a miner in Matline Falls, Washington. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.
Mr. Hughes is survived by a son Phillip Hughes of New York; two daughters: Phyllis Anderson of Camp Verde; Cindy Randle of Kansas; a brother Roy of Kansas; sisters: Ruby, Angie, Alma, and Fern all of South Dakota; 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Memorial services were held on Friday, June 4th at the Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood.

Velma L. Rieb
September 17, 1950 - July 11, 2004

Velma Louise (Brown) Rieb, 73, of Cottonwood died July 11. She was born July 21, 1930 in Ariba, Colorado.
Mrs. Rieb worked as a Campground Host, Luggage Store Manager, Fabric Store Manager, Bank Teller and as a Doctor's receptionist.
Her husband of 52 years, Edwin ''Eddie'' Reuben Rieb, preceded her in death in April 2003.
For the last thirty years Velma and Eddie enjoyed campground hosting in Colorado and Arizona. Velma and Eddie were awarded the Arizona State Park 2004 Volunteers of the Year.
A member of the Verde Baptist Church, she also enjoyed sewing and craftwork and visiting the elderly.
She leaves two sons and their wives, Dale and Nancy Rieb of Portland, Oregon and Stan and Heidi Rieb of Rock Springs, Wyoming; a daughter and her husband, Darla and Steve Pick of Camp Verde; two sisters and their husbands, Ruth and George Thompson of Prescott and Maxine and Bryce Wilkins of Fremont, Nebraska; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A brother, Donald Brown preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 14 at the Verde Baptist Church at 6:00 PM.
Donations in her memory may be made to Northern Arizona Hospice, 269 S. Candy Lane, Cottonwood 86326 or to the Verde Baptist Church, 102 S. Willard St, Cottonwood 86326 to the Agape Health Ministry.

Milton C. Cruver
January 13, 1924 - July 11, 2004

On 11 July 2004 Milton Cooper Cruver passed away in his sleep to rejoin his family, friends and fellow Marines who have gone before him. Born at home in Portland, Pennsylvania on 13 January 1924 to Leroy Cruver and Elsie Cooper Cruver. He was raised on his family's farm in Mount Bethel, Pennsylvania with his three brothers, Martin of Mt. Bethel, Victor of Phillipsburg,, Pennsylvania and Terry Lee, recently deceased. Milton's elder brother Paul passed away at an early age. Baptized into the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stone Church, Pennsylvania, he remained a child of God until his passing. Milton attended school in Portland, Pennsylvania, graduating from Portland High School in 1941. He enlisted into the United States Marine Corps in August 1942 and fought in the Pacific with both the 1st Marine Division and later the 2nd Marine Air Wing. Following the victory over Japan, Sergeant Cruver was transferred to the Marine occupation forces in Peiping, China where he remained until March 1946. Sergeant Cruver was awarded the Navy Presidential Unit Citation Second Award, Combat Action Ribbon, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, China Service Medal, American Defense Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal Fourth Award, World War II Victory Medal and the Philippine Liberation Medal. Milton left the active duty Marine Corps and later served with the Army National Guard in Flagtstaff, Arizona.
Milton married Muriel Pierce in 1945 and son James Cruver, who passed away in 1951 and daughter Sandra Lee (Troy), currently residing in Indiana were born. Milton and Muriel divorced in 1952 and he and Sophie Ratka Cruver were married the same year. This marriage continues to this date and resulted in the birth of Bonnie Marie Cruver (Holden) of Tenino, Washington and her twin Anita (deceased) and Milton Leroy Cruver of Flagstaff, Arizona.
During his life, Milton traveled and held many jobs, mainly in the heavy equipment industry as a welder, primarily with the Frank G. Hough Company in Illinois. After moving to Arizona in 1969 Milton worked at the Baghdad Copper Mines and the Cholla Lake Power Plant until he was disabled by a stroke in 1984.
Milton remained active in the community through the Marine Corps League Detachment 912, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7400, the American Legion Post 25 and the Disabled American Veterans Post 23. Milton spent many years as a Boy Scout leader and District Commissioner. He worked tirelessly to help his family and friends. For recreation he and Sophie spent many wonderful days at the VFW bingo hall initially as administrators and later as players. He held several key positions in the veterans organizations including several terms as Commander.
Milton is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sophie Cruver of Cottonwood; brothers Martin and Victor of Pennsylvania and children Sandra Lee Troy of Indiana; Bonnie Marie Holden of Tenino, Washington and Milton Leroy Cruver of Flagstaff. Milton's family includes grandchildren Frederick Troy III, Lisa Troy, Charlene Mason, Jennifer Russell, Catherine Holt, Jason Russell, Milton Clinton Cruver, Justin Russell; fifteen great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Milton loved his God and country and his family and will be greatly missed by all. He has left us with untold memories and now has gone off on a new adventure.
A memorial service will be on Friday, 16 July at VFW Post 7400 at 705 E. Aspen St., Cottonwood at 1200. A visitation will be held later on Friday from 4 PM to 6 PM at Westcott Funeral Home.
The family request that donations be made to the VFW Orphans Fund, one of Milton's favorite charities.

Stanley W. Dolginko
November 11, 1918 - July 13, 2004

Stanley Walter Dolginko, 86, of Sedona died July 13. He was born November 11, 1918 in Brooklyn, New York.
He worked for New York City Transit for many years.
He was a Marine Corp veteran.
He leaves a son and his wife, Stanley W., Jr. and Patricia Dolginko of Cornville; two daughters and their husbands, Rita and John Phillips of Netcong, New Jersey and Carol and Michael Golden of Sedona; a brother, Joe Dolginko of Smithtown, New York; a sister, Genieve Mills of Mastic Beach, New York; seven grandchildren and eleven grandchildren.
There are no public services planned in Arizona.
Westcott Funeral Home served the family.

Eric B. Shook
October 20, 19 - March 18, 2005

Eric B. Shook, 45, of Cottonwood, Arizona, passed away on March 18, 2005.
Dr. Shook was a local veterinarian who had practiced in Cottonwood for 19 years, he founded the Riverfront Veterinary Hospital.
He is survived by his brother Jeff and family, a sister Tanya and family, and his parents and many friends.
No public funeral is planned however a celebration of Eric's life will be announced soon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to an animal shelter of choice.

John F. White
April 27, 1909 - March 21, 2005

John F. White, Jr., 95, of Camp Verde died March 21 in the Veterans Hospital in Prescott.
Mr. White was born in Phoenix April 27, 1909 to John John Francis White, Sr. and Oda Kater White, who came to Arizona in the 1880's.
He was a Navy veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Billie R. White and four brothers.
He is survived by his sister Bette Hart of Camp Verde and niece Lisa McCreary of Acworth, Georgia.
Private burial was in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
Westcott Funeral Home assisted the family with these arrangements.

Jean Caroline Campbell
August 11, 1922 - March 02, 2005

Jean Caroline Campbell, born Aug. 11, 1922, died March 2, 2005.
Jean moved to Sedona in 1978, following the death of her husband, Scotty in 1977. She opened Sedona Travel in 1979, and enjoyed the next 20 years servicing the community's travel needs as well as organizing and escorting numerous journeys all over the world.
Jean was active in Soroptomists, The Sedona-Oak Creek Chamber of Commerce, and, for those who can remember, she was the president of the ''Sedona Can Company''.
Jean is survived in death by her brother, John Corso Jr. of Berkeley, California, daughters Bonnie Jean Campbell of Cottonwood, Arizona and Dee Jane Fike of Cottonwood, Arizona, and grandsons Paul Campbell Fike and Scott Patrick Moker.
Jean died peacefully at home, surrounded by her family. She will be missed.
No service is planned. In memory, donations will be accepted in her name by Northern Arizona Hospice, 269 South Candy Lane, Cottonwood, AZ 86326.

Pansy E. Farris
November 23, 1921 - March 25, 2005

Pansy E. Farris, 83, of Lake Montezuma died March 25. She was born November 23, 1921 in Rural South of Linn, Missouri.
She graduated from Ownsville High School. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Farris was a member of Lake Montezuma Woman's Club and the Beaver Creek Adult Center.
Her hobbies included baking, cooking, flower gardens and traveling.
She leaves her husband of 63 years, Kenneth A. Farris; a son and his wife, David and Debbie Farris of California; a daughter, Linda Santiago of Tempe; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 29 in the Westcott Funeral Home at 11 AM. - surname origin, history, distribution, occupations, etc.
