Mary Francis Leisk
September 26, 1911 - April 07, 2005

Mary Francis Leisk, 93, of Cottonwood died April 7. She was born September 26, 1911 in Prescott, and she lived all but 20 of her 93 years there and in the Verde Valley, in Clarkdale and Jerome, until the mine closed in 1952, and in Cottonwood from 1972 until her death.
Mary Francis attended the University of Arizona, did bookkeeping, sold children's resource books and raised her family. When her husband retired they moved back to the Verde Valley that she loved, where she was a member of Immaculatae Conception Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Guild. Throughout her life she was devoted to her faith. At age 92, she professed as a Third-Order Secular Franciscan.
She was probably best known for her work with the Verde Valley Senior Citizen Center. Mary Francis worked as the executive director and grant coordinator for over twenty years. She was instrumental in establishing the Meals-On- Wheels Program that delivers hot meals to the elderly. She served on the Governor's Commission on Aging and was selected by Senator Dennis DeConcini to attend a conference on aging in Washington, DC. She was also involved with and part of the Verde Valley Caregivers.
Mary Francis devoted her life to her family and to helping others, and made a valued difference in many lives wherever she went. Her life and her actions were guided by her firm belief that ''This country belongs to the little people, to the ordinary citizens''. She will be missed.

Mary Francis was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George in November, 1987. She is survived by sons Harry and Gerald, daughter Mary Anne, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 10 in the Westcott Funeral Home from 5-7 with a Rosary at 7 PM.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 11 in the Immaculate Conception Church at 10 AM. Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Verde Valley Senior Center, P O Box 681, Cottonwood at 86326.

Dorothy L. Malcolmson
October 11, 1911 - April 07, 2005

Dorothy E. Malcolmson, 93, of Cottonwood died April 7. She was born October 11, 1911 in San Diego, California.
Mrs. Malcolmson attended Santa Ana High School and University of California at Los Angeles.
Her husband John K. Malcolmson and a son Robert Callis preceded her in death.
She leaves a son William R. Callis of Stockton, California; two daughters, Carolyn Sherbondy and Chris Christenson of Clarkdale; twelve grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
There are no public services planned.
Westcott Funeral Home was entrusted with these arrangements.

Gladys E. Haire
June 20, 1909 - April 09, 2005

Gladys E. Haire, 65, formerly of Cottonwood, died April 9 in Flagstaff. She was born June 20, 1909 in New Florence, Pennsylvania.
She attended New Florence schools. Mrs. Haire had worked as a waitress in a private club in Pasadena, California. She lived in Hemet, California before moving to Cottonwood where she lived for six years in the Christian care Apartments.
Her husband, Clyde E. Haire preceded her in death.
Mrs. Haire is survived by her son, Juim Haire of Wickenburg; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
There are no public services planned.
Westcott Funeral Home assisted the family.

William R. Turner
January 27, 1939 - April 05, 2005

William Raymond Turner, 66, of Cottonwood died April 5. He was born January 27, 1939 in Sumas, Washington.
Mr. Turner was a retired draftsman.

Margaret Inez Rahaim

Margaret Inez Rahaim, 87, of Camp Verde died April 1. She was born February 11, 1918 in Russellville, Alabama.
She was a retired bank teller.
Services and burial are being conducted by the Colbert memorial Chapel, 700 Highway 43 South, Tuscumbia, Alabama.

William Ecuyer

William Ecuyer, 82, of Clarkdale died April 10. He was born September 28, 1922 in New York City, New York.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Matthew ''Matt'' Kimball Showers
November 21, 1989 - April 11, 2005

Matthew Kimball Showers, 15, went to run with Jesus on Monday, April 11, 2005. Born in Cottonwood, Arizona on November 21, 1989, Matthew used his 15 short years to shine the light and love of Jesus on all who knew him. Matthew was a member of the First Baptist Church of Camp Verde and was involved in Youth Ministries there, as well as Fellowship of Christian Teens at Camp Verde High School. Matthew was an exceptional athlete, lettering his freshman year as part of the State Champion Camp Verde Boys Soccer Team and breaking the school record in high jump on the Camp Verde Track and Field Team. Matt loved Christian music, concerts, mini-coopers and his family and friends. Matt was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
Matthew is survived by his Mom and Dad, Mark and Lori Showers, his two sisters, Amy and Amanda Showers, his grandparents, Tom and Jan Malloy and Ralph and Marilyn Showers, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved and cherished him.
Services for Matthew will be on Saturday, April 16, 2005 at Verde Baptist Church in Cottonwood, Arizona, with a public viewing from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a graveside service for the family following. The family would like to invite everyone to a reception at the Camp Verde Schools Multi Use Complex Cafeteria at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Camp Verde Education Foundation c/o Montie Morris, 410 Camp Lincoln, Camp Verde, AZ 86322. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood, Arizona.

Walter ''Larry Lawrence Booth
June 01, 1939 - April 12, 2005

Walter ''Larry'' Lawrence Booth, 65, of Camp Verde, Arizona, passed away on Tuesday, April 12th. He was born in Phoenix, Arizona on June 1, 1939.
After graduating from Phoenix Union High School, Larry served in the United States Navy. He worked as an operating engineer and at the time of his retirement, he was a civil superintendent for Bechtel Corporation, a tele-communications firm.
Mr. Booth was a member of the Masons, and attended the First Baptist Church of Camp Verde. He enjoyed jeeping, hunting and polishing rocks, making jewelry, bow hunting, hiking, and travel.
He is preceded in death by a son, Ronald L.Booth.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years Tamara (Tami) A. Booth; daughter: Blythe Luree Harrington of Camp Verde, brother: Benny Lee Booth of Maricopa, Arizona, sisters: Evelyn White of Glendale, Arizona, Sharon and three grandchildren.
On Tuesday, April 19th a visitation beginning at 10:00 A.m. will be held at the United Methodist Church of Camp Verde. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 A.M. with burial at Clear Creek Cemetery.
The family has requested that donations in Larry's name be sent to the Camp Verde Historical Society, P O Box 1184, Camp Verde 86322. Westcott Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.

Doris M. Nelson
December 23, 1914 - April 10, 2005

Doris M. Nelson, 91, of Cottonwood died April 10. She was born December 23, 1914 in Manchester, Tennessee.
She moved to Phoenix from Tennssee in 1936 and came to Cottonwood in 1973.
Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her husbands Wendell B. Tubbs and Robert Nelson and her son Robert Tubbs.
She is survived by two granddaughters, one stepgrandddaughter, seven great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Margaret Wagner of Idaho.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 21 in the Resthaven Park Cemetery, Glendale at 11 AM.
Westcott Funeral Home is directing these arrangements.

Richard Allen Wagley
March 26, 1941 - April 13, 2005

Richard Allen Wagley, 64, of Cornville, passed away on Wednesday, April 13th. He was born in Santa Rosa, California on March 26, 1941.
He graduated from Canoga Park High School and in 1959 he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Mr. Wagley was a veteran having served in the United States Navy.
He was self-employed as an accountant and business consultant and owned Wagley Consulting, Inc. He was a Mason, belonging to Central AZ Lodge #14, York Rite and Ballut Abyad Shrine in Albequerque, New Mexico. He enjoyed gardening and he loved baseball.
Mr. Wagley is survived by his wife of 25 years Carole Joy Wagley; a daughter, Becky Wagley of Corrales, New Mexico; sons, Greg Wagley of Arlington, Texas, William Strye of Beaverton, Oregon; brother, Gary Wagley of Cottonwood and two grandchildren.
On Monday, April 18th a visitation will be held at the Westcott Funeral Home, 1013 E. Mingus Avenue in Cottonwood, at 9:00 A.M., followed by a Masonic Funeral Service at 10:00 A.M.

Ethel Rebecca Lappe
November 25, 1935 - April 14, 2005

Ethel Rebecca ''Liz'' Lappe, 69, of Camp Verde, Arizona passed away on Thursday, April 14th. She was born in Troy, Indiana on November 25, 1935.
She graduated from Portage High School, and she was a mother and housewife. Mrs. Lappe enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking and other people.
She is survived by her husband of 21 years Robert Joseph, three sons, Roger of California, Brian and Ronnie of Phoenix; six daughters, Sondra, Ronda, Amy, Robin, Allison, and Debbie all of Phoenix, sister, Joyce of Phoenix, seventeen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Services for Mrs. Lappe will be held on Tuesday, April 19th, beginning with a visitation at 10:00 A.M. at the Westcott Funeral Home, 1013 E. Mingus Avenue, Cottonwood and a funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Burial will take place at the Paradise Memorial Garden Cemetery in Scottsdale.
