Dian Moore
Dian Moore, 66, of Safford entered into rest Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, at University Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 16, 1942, in Safford to Don and Phyllis Welker.
Dian loved going for morning rides around the Valley with her beloved Art.
She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her many dear friends.
She is survived by her loving husband, Art; her seven children, Don Nottingham (Tom Whelan), Greg (Brenda) Nottingham, David (Bettina) Nottingham, Larry (Kim) Moore, Julie (Ernie) Forgach, Ken Nottingham and Denise (Mike) Eaton; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Dian will be held Tuesday, Feb. 17, at the Safford LDS Stake Center at 11 a.m., with a viewing one hour prior to services.
A visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 16, at Caldwell Funeral Chapel from 6-8 p.m.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Caldwell Funeral Chapel.

Bonnie Jean Arnold
Bonnie Jean Arnold was born April 5, 1950, to John and Lois Philpott of Alamogordo, N.M.
Jean went home to be with her Lord Jesus on Jan. 31, 2009.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Richard; three sisters, Florence (Jerrell) of Carlsbad, N.M., Pat Robinson (Ray) of Green River, Wyo., and Joyce Hunter of Aztec, N.M.; two brothers, Buddy (June) Philpott of Carlsbad and Johnny (Patsy) Philpott of Eagar; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Burial was held at Artesia Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were handled by McDougal's Caldwell Funeral Chapel.

Trinidad Sandoval Cuarenta
Trini "Mami" Cuarenta entered into eternal rest Feb. 2, 2009.
Mami was born Oct. 1, 1953, to Enrique Cuarenta and Lucita Sandoval. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Jaime Maldonado Sr.
She attended Safford High School, then later married twice and had five children. She devoted her life to her children and therefore became a homemaker.
On occasion throughout her life, Trini held various part-time jobs in order to provide gifts for birthdays, holidays, etc. She was a very loving and giving person. Her heart was full of love, always thinking and caring about others.
Trini enjoyed spending time visiting her children; siblings; her uncle, Alfonso (deceased), and his wife, Nelly; her uncle, Alejandro (deceased), and his wife, Julia; friends; and church. Her hobbies included cooking, reading, shopping, going for long walks and drives and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
She had a smile and laughter all her own. Trini would always go out of her way to greet you and give you a hug. To those who knew her well, this will always be adored and missed.
Trini is preceded in death by her parents, brother Antonio and nephew Raymond. She is survived by three brothers, Joe (Teri), Jaime Jr. and Ruben; six sisters, Mary, Rosie (Manuel), Lina (Angel), Becky (Chito), Coni and Cindy; five children, Lorraine (John Jr.), Joe, Jessica, Alex and Lucita (Adam); and seven grandchildren, Antoinette, John III, Christopher, Jenica, Selicia, Oden and Josclyn. Her first great-grandchild will arrive in August.
Mami will forever hold a place in our hearts and be missed always.
Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at 6 p.m., followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church. Mass will be held Tuesday, Feb. 10, 9 a.m., at St. Rose of Lima Church. Trini will be laid to rest at Safford Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Caldwell Funeral Service.

Jesusita Piñeda
Jesusita (Susie) Bailon Piñeda passed away Jan. 12, 2009. Susie was born Jan. 1, 1930, in Clifton to mother Anastasia Perea Bailon and father Manuel Bailon.
She was preceded in death by her son, father, mother and brother.
Susie worked at the Clifton 5&10 Variety Store and Riley’s Drugstore.
She was a homemaker at the time of her death.
Susie attended Clifton High School and graduated in 1949.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish and also Clifton Beneficio Propio.
She is survived by husband Alex S. Piñeda; sons Albert B. (Theresa) Piñeda and family, and Alex S. (Linda) Piñeda and family; grandson Daniel Edward Piñeda; granddaughter Cristyn Elaine Rutherford; great-grandsons Darryon Renay Rutherford, Christopher Wallace and Chance Wallace; great-granddaughter Heather Wallace; granddaughters Madeleine, Alyssa, and Rebekah; grandsons Tom and Luke.

Charlotte Dean
Charlotte Marie Dean, 73, of Safford passed away Feb. 2, 2009, in Tucson. Charlotte was born Oct. 13, 1935, in Clarkdale to Willis H. and Dorothy Owenby Edwards. She attended schools in Clarkdale, Morenci, Sanders, Oak Creek, Williamson Valley and Prescott. Her father worked at mining and ranching around Arizona before joining the Prescott Police Department in 1945.
In 1952, she met and married Emilio Ferra of Prescott. He was a heavy equipment operator who worked road construction, and the family moved all over northern Arizona while Emilio was building highways. Charlotte made many friends everywhere she lived.
In 1975, Charlotte moved back to Prescott to stay with her mom and worked at the Cricket Yarn Shop. She loved to knit, crochet and needlepoint and made many beautiful things. She married Richard Dean in 1977.
Charlotte and her mother moved to Safford in 1984 to be near her daughter and family. She worked for a while at H&R Men's Wear Downtown and later became a volunteer at the Safford Family History Center. There she shared her love of history and genealogical research. She was always happy to share her knowledge and experience to help newcomers. When the center became without a librarian, she enthusiastically volunteered for the position and began to organize and catalog the collection. In 2000, she compiled and published "Arizona Territory, Yavapai County Deed Records, 1864-1870." This was a work of love for her, and she was pleased to be able to contribute to the genealogical community.
She is survived by her children, Jennifer (Brent) Peck of Safford and John B. (Wanda) Ferra of Orangevale, Calif; her grandchildren, Bill Peck of Safford, Wendy Ferra and Sam Ferra of Orangevale, Calif.
Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 9, 11 a.m., at the Safford LDS Stake Center, with visitation one hour prior. Memorial donations may be made to the Safford Family History Center, 428-7927.

David Coye Estes
David Coye Estes entered into the kingdom of heaven Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, after a long fight with cancer. He was born March 4, 1924, to Goldie and David Estes, being their middle child. He married Mary Dee Hindman on Nov. 22, 1941, spending 63 years together before her passing in 2005.
David worked for Phelps Dodge for many years. He retired in 1982 as a mill foreman in Tyrone, N.M. At that time, he and Dee returned to Safford to live out their retirement years.
David was a World War II veteran belonging to the Seabees 85th Fight Battalion. He attended the First Southern Baptist Church of Thatcher.
David had many talents. He was a pilot, hunter, fisherman, horseman and mechanic. He was very proud of his Indian heritage and belonging to the Choctaw Nation.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Dee Estes, and son-in-law Fred Palka. He is survived by his children, Glenn (Peggy) Estes of Telephone, Texas, Rocky Estes of Safford, Donna (Darrell) Brabham of Globe and Pamela Palka of Safford; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held at the First Southern Baptist Church of Thatcher on Jan. 29. He was laid to rest next to his wife at Safford Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Caldwell Funeral Chapel.

Walter S. Collins
Walter S. “Sandy” Collins passed away Friday, Jan. 30, in Safford.
Sandy was born Sept. 26, 1944, in Safford.
Sandy was employed by Qwest for 37 years and purchased the Daily Stop in 1998.
He was the past exalted ruler of the Safford Elks Lodge and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Safford Eighth Ward.
Sandy was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Collins and Eunice Mickelson.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jo Ann; his children, Cindy (Terry) Donham, Brandon Collins, Scott Collins, Craig Collins, Tiffani (Felix) Vasquez, Stephani Collins and Robert (Shannon) Rice; his siblings, Colleen (Al) Newton, Michael Collins, Philip (Tricia) Collins; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 4, 11 a.m., at the Mount Graham LDS Chapel in Safford.
He will be buried in the Safford Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Caldwell Funeral Home.
