Anthony "Tony" Jamie Chavez
64, passed September 29, 2002, in Big Bear Lake, Calif. A native of Texas, he was a 17 year resident coming to the Valley from Hacienda Heights. Tony was well known for his positive attitude, a big loving heart and helping others in need. A business advisor for 20 years and a member of the Big Bear Lake Toastmasters for 3 years, Tony will be missed by his many friends in Big Bear.
Gunnell William "Bill" Walters
82, passed September 24, 2002. A six year resident, Bill loved outdoor sports, fishing, camping, golf and traveling. A WWII veteran in the U.S. Navy C.B., he was a building contractor in Long Beach and retired in 1982 from the city of Long Beach Building and Planning Department. He also served the city of Long Beach as a reserve police officer.
Bill was a member of the Masonic Lodge #389, International City, Long Beach, Calif., and the Masonic Lodge #617, Big Bear Lake, Calif., Worshipful Master 2002, Scottish Rite, Long Beach, Calif., El Bekal Shrine, Anaheim, Calif., Order of the Eastern Star Meridian #10, Long Beach, Calif., Order of the Eastern Star, Big Bear #485, Past Patron.
He is survived by his wife Joyce of Big Bear City; daughter and son in law, Diane and Mac Perkins of Little Rock; granddaughter, Julie Perkins; grandson, Roger Perkins and his wife Simone; and great grandson, Cesar of Long Beach.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 5, 2002, Masonic Center, 385 Summit Blvd., Big Bear Lake, Calif. Big Bear Mortuary, directors.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Shrine Children's Hospital El Bekal Shrine, Anaheim, Calif., or Childhood Language Disorders of Scottish Rite, Long Beach Scottish Rite Bodies.
Paul Dean Olson
60, went home to be with his Lord on December 5, 2002 at the emergency room of Bear Valley Community Hospital. Born December 30, 1941, in Los Angeles, Paul was a business owner of Bear City Video and resident for 11 years. He also served in the U.S. Army.
Paul is survived by his wife, Susan of twenty years, plus two sons, Paul Dean Olson, Jr. and James Jade Olson. The family grieves his loss but rejoices in the knowledge that Paul is with Jesus and is reunited with his mother, Lorraine Riche, who preceded him in death on November 14, 2002.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Paul Olson Memorial Fund at First Mountain Bank (Village Branch), P.O. Box 6868, Big Bear Lake, CA 92315 to help meet financial obligations incurred during this time of loss.
Kathy L. Bagley-Hammett
55, a long time resident of Twentynine Palms and Big Bear passed on August 12, 2002. Born on Feb. 11, 1947, to John Bagley and Marilyn Cocheran Bagley, Kathy was a graduate of Twentynine Palms High School.
She is survived by her loving husband, Terry, of 25 years, of Big Bear Lake and sons Gabriel Hammett and David Ruf. She attended Big Bear Believer's Chapel and Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel, where services were held on August 17, 2002.
A truly kind and loving lady, Kathy will be truly missed by her family and many friends.
Martin Argetsinger
79, passed May 10, 2003, in Victorville, Calif. Born August 8, 1923, in Altadena, Calif, Martin was a 30-year resident of Big Bear Valley and worked 13 years for Roberts Plumbing. He is survived by his loving family, wife Evelyn; 3 sons, Wayne of Ohio, John of Big Bear City, Paul of Morongo Valley; daughter, Robin Crough of Long Beach and 5 grandchildren, John, David, Elizabeth, Shawn and Elyssa.
Judith Ann McDougald (Jones)
Passed away at Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay, Oregon, on July 16, 2004, at 3:05a.m. as a result of respiratory failure caused by interstitial lung disease. She was 62 years old.
Born on April 26, 1942, in Santa Ana, California, Judy attended school at Fullerton, Mariposa, and Paradise grade schools and attended high school at Loma Linda - all in California. In her early adult years, she worked at the Yucaipa Valley Medical Center as a medical receptionist. While working there she met Jerry McDougald, a patient who had injured his ankle in a motorcycle accident. Judy and Jerry were married in the early 1960s, lived in San Jose, California, while Jerry attended college at San Jose State University and then moved to Big Bear in 1969. Judy worked primarily as a Medical Transcriptionist for several years at the San Bernardino Community Hospital and then she transferred to the Bear Valley Community Hospital when it opened in 1974. She was professionally certified as a Senior Medical Transcriptionist. She also had her own typing business in Big Bear Lake. In 1987, the family moved to Redlands, California, where Judy worked at the Beaver Medical Clinic and at the Loma Linda University Medical Center, eventually retiring in 1990. She was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in 1992 and subsequently Judy and Jerry moved to Oregon where they retired on the southern coast at Port Orford, Oregon. She spent the last 12 years of her life traveling with her husband, writing her life story, and crocheting beautiful blankets and baby clothes for her friends and family. She loved the Oregon Coast and took walks along the beach with Jerry. She enjoyed working in the yard at her Port Orford home with the sound of the surf pounding against the nearby beach. In 2000, Jerry's sister acquired the old ancestral fox ranch after 40 years of being out of the family. Judy and Jerry since then, spent half the year in Big Bear Lake, California, and the other half in Port Orford, Oregon. During these last years, Judy reconnected with many of her friends and family, spending time in California enjoying her grandchildren. All who knew her loved Judy and she made many friends wherever she went. Even the animals, such as horses, cats, and dogs, loved Judy.
Judy had many talents and was blessed with a beautiful singing voice. She sang in church and even recorded herself singing a variety of classic songs from the `40s-`70s, some of which her family played at her funeral. She could also play the organ and clarinet. She loved to write letters and she was working on an autobiography and family history in her later years. Throughout her life she was involved in various church activities.
She is survived by her longtime companion & loving husband, Jerry McDougald, a retired architect and builder and a resident of Big Bear Lake, California, and of Port Orford, Oregon; son, Dr. Jimmy McDougald, Program Director of Respiratory Care at Concord University and a resident of Colton, California; daughter, Lisa McDougald, senior at Oregon State University and resident of Corvallis, Oregon; four grandchildren, Justin, Jonny, Cassidy, and Caitlynn; brother, Alfred H. Jones II and sister-in-law, Maxine Jones of Loma Linda, California; sister-in-law, Linda Watson (Jerry's sister) of Valencia and of Big Bear Lake, California; and brother-in-law, Jack B. Watson of La Canáda-Flintridge, California.
A funeral service was held for Judy at 10a.m. on Friday, July 23, 2004 at the Montecito Mortuary Chapel in Loma Linda, California.

John Boss
95, passed Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at his Hemet home, Sunshine Cottage.
There will be no services.
Mr. Boss lived in Hemet two years, but resided in Big Bear Lake for over 40 years.
John was a masonry contractor and a long time member of the Rotarians.
He is survived by his wife Brenda; daughter, Joan Callen; son Peter and 5 grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Bear Valley Community Hospital, P.O. Box 1629, Big Bear Lake, CA 92315, in place of flowers.
Kathryn Linda Sanchez
55, passed July 19, 2003. Born December 26, 1947, Linda was the 'Olde Lady of Sugarloaf.' She often spoke of "sitt'n on the front porch with my hound dawgs watchen them turists go by staren at us thinkin we all a bunch of hillbillies. She was a mountain woman through and through. She always wanted to "play the part," and she did so that the company she was in would be comfortable. She wanted people to feel free enough to be themselves.
Linda gave till it hurt. There are many "kids" that will miss their second mom. She has extended family beyond marriage or other legalities that increased her 'children count' tenfold.
Linda is survived by her four children: Deaun, Dani, Ralph and Joseph; grandchildren, Amanda, Jennifer, Donnivan (preceded in death), Sunshine, William, Justin, Tyler, Joey, Gyspi, Alexandrea; and her brother Kevin Dobbs.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2003, noon, at Gold Mountain Memorial Park, Big Bear City, Calif. Big Bear Mortuary, directors.
Nancy J. Leasure
66, passed May 27, 2003, at her home in Big Bear City after a brief illness. Born March 17, 1937, Nancy was a life-long resident of Southern California, born in Santa Monica, as were both her children. A resident of Big Bear Valley for 6 years, she loved the mountains and animals. Nancy was always giving a dog or cat a home and worked with animal rescue. Nancy also lived a short time in New Hampshire while her children were educated.
Vincent Bernard Carroll
77, passed September 28, 2002. A Big Bear resident for 26 years he is survived by his wife, Lyndia, of Sugarloaf; daughters, Tracy White of Moreno Valley and Kathleen Valencia of Mentone. Private family services.
Terri Lyn Noble-Monaghan
45, passed July 21, 2003, in Loma Linda, Calif. Born January 23, 1958, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, Terri was a nine year resident of Big Bear and was very involved in fund raisers for the Four Square Church of Big Bear. She helped provide meals for the less fortunate in charities for Mexico and made craft items for holiday and church baskets.
A loving wife, mother and friend, Terri is survived by her grandmother Ida Bixby of Texas; her parents John and Ann Monaghan of Texas; husband Russell LeRoy Haghes of Big Bear Lake; son Alex Noble: daughter Sidney Noble and sister Kelly.
Services will be held Friday, August 8, 2003, at the Four Square Church, Big Bear City, Calif., at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Terri Lyn Noble Memorial Fund, First Mountain Bank. Big Bear Mortuary, directors.
Peter Maddox
39, passed November 24, 2002, at Loma Linda Medical Center in Redlands, Calif. Born December 31, 1962, in Long Beach, Peter was a 20- year resident of Big Bear Lake, working as a contractor for 15 years.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, and son Joshua Ryan of Fawnskin; plus a sister and 2 brothers, all of Garden Grove.
Services will be held December 15, 2000, at 4:30 p.m. at the Gold Pan Restaurant in Fawnskin. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted for his son Joshua at P.O. Box 19, Fawnskin, Calif. 92333.
A loving, caring and devoted husband and father, Peter will be missed by all whose lives he has touched.
William E. "Mickey" Johnson
74, passed December 1, 2002, in San Bernardino, Calif. Born September 17, 1928, in Sacramento, Calif., he was a member of the American Legion and an Army Veteran of the Korean War.
Edna Claire McInnis Richard
She lit our lives and our way...
How blessed we are to be her family!
Our beautiful "Grambie" left us on Friday, May 30, 2003, to be with our Lord and those who passed before her, including her husband Placide Richard, her parents, Charles and Josie McInnis, and her brother, "Ed" McInnis. She was born July 6, 1923, in Inglewood, Calif. and lived her entire life from high school on in El Segundo, Calif., a place she considered the best on earth. She had a challenging life having been orphaned at 12 and widowed at 29. She returned at that time to complete her education, so she could take care of her daughters who were always her life focus. She was a fun mother and a devoted Christian who gave unconditional love to everyone and everything. She loved music, reading, animals, nature, traveling, playing games, gardening, and much more. She retired from Delta Airlines after a 30-year career.
Edna was loved by all who knew her and among those who will miss her are: her daughter, Ruth Richard Berkley, and husband Jim of Yorba Linda, Calif., and Renee Richard, of Big Bear City, Calif.; grandsons Michael Duncan II, and wife Denise of Big Bear City, Calif., Matt Bollen, of Big Bear City, Calif., Jason Berkley, and wife Ann of Diamond Bar, Calif., and granddaughter Stacey Boettcher, and husband Shane of Chico, Calif., and the Richard and LeJeune families of Louisiana.
Arrangements were by Douglass Family Mortuary, El Segundo, Calif.
Edna's final resting place is Inglewood Park Cemetery, Inglewood, Calif. Services were private.
