Ana Rosa Hernandez

A mass for Ana Rosa Hernandez, 90, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Church. Visitation will be from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at McCune Garden Chapel. Interment will be at Vacaville Elmira Cemetery.

Born Dec. 1, 1909, in Manqui, Nicaragua, Mrs. Hernandez died on Dec. 29, 1999, in Vacaville after a long illness.

Mrs. Hernandez lived in Vacaville for 20 years and was a homemaker for 72 years. She belonged to St. Mary's Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Ninfita Browning of Vacaville and Lylliam Decourt of San Bruno; son, Mariano Hernandez of Vacaville; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Edward Schleining

No formal services will be held for Edward Schleining, 80, of Fairfield. Burial will be at sea.

Born on Jan. 28, 1919, in Huntley, Mont., Mr. Schleining died Dec. 29, 1999, at Kaiser Hospital in Vallejo following a short illness.

He was an equipment operator for Sacramento County for 15 years before retiring in 1977. He lived in Fairfield for 10 years.

Mr. Schleining is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Jane of Fairfield; sisters, Becky Amador of Sacramento and Sara Frankenfield of Greenlane, Pa.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fairfield Funeral Home.

Sharon Dorothea Banks

A funeral for Sharon Dorothea Banks, 54, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Allen Temple Baptist Church, Oakland.

The Rev. Dr. J. Alfred Smith and the Rev. Joseph K. Flowers will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Banks died Dec. 27, 1999, in NorthBay Medical Center after a long illness.

Born May 24, 1945, in Cairo, Ill., she lived in Fairfield for 10 years. She worked for AC Transit as a general counsel in March 1990 and became general manager in May 1991.

From 1983 to 1987 she was a deputy city attorney in Oakland and served as an attorney in the legal adviser's office of the Oakland Unified School District. Before her law career, she spent several years working as a speech pathologist and audiologist, teaching deaf and hearing-impaired children.

She received a bachelor of science degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, a master's degree in educational psychology from California State University, Hayward, and a law degree from Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco.

Mrs. Banks received a number of awards, including a civil rights leadership award from the American Public Transit Association. In 1993, she was named the Metropolitan Transportation Commission's Special Transportation Employee.

Mrs. Banks is survived by her husband, Paul of Fairfield; son, Daraka of Anaheim; sister, Aubertine Gallion of Illinois; and brothers, Oris Hill and Derek Hill, both of Illinois, and Rory Roberson of San Diego.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Friendship Baptist Church, Vallejo.

Memorial contributions may be made to AC Transit Scholarship Fund, 1600 Franklin St., Oakland.

Arrangements were made by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Anastasia "Stacy" Brown

A Catholic Prayer Service for Anastasia "Stacy" Brown, 65, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela will officiate. Interment will be private in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Mrs. Brown died Dec. 24, 1999, in Fairfield after a long illness.

Born May 5, 1934, in Bocksberg, Germany, she lived in Fairfield for 28 years. She worked as a cosmetologist at De Mars Beauty Salon for 27 years.

Described as a true animal enthusiast, Mrs. Brown loved gardening, knitting and collecting knickknacks.

Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband, Robert of Fairfield; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Jeff Simms of Winters; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and June of Suisun City; sisters, Marliese Bottek, Erika Cadura and Corolla Bohman, all of Germany, and Emi Christianson of Omaha, Neb.; brothers, Adolf, Leo and Ernest Holzheuer, all of Germany; and grandchildren, Erika and Adam Brown of Suisun City and Mikinna Simms of Winters.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society-Fairfield Branch, 1652 W. Texas St., Fairfield, 94533.

George Benjamin Dorame

A funeral for George Benjamin Dorame, 54, of Vacaville will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Vaca Hills Chapel. Burial will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Jan. 15, 1945, in Dinuba, Mr. Dorame died Dec. 30, 1999, at home.

Mr. Dorame was a driver/carrier for Vacaville Sanitation Service for 28 years. He was a dedicated father, grandfather and a loving husband. He was a charitable, giving man his entire life.

Mr. Dorame is survived by his wife, Michele of Vacaville; daughters, Victoria and Nichele of Vacaville; mother, Teresa Barron of Vacaville; sisters, Mary Ann Maldonado of Vacaville and Yolando Friend of San Bernadino; grandson, Duran Castaneda of Vacaville; and many nieces and nephews.

Otis L. Ervine

A funeral for Otis L. Ervine, 87, of San Francisco will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Shiloh Baptist Church. The Revs. Jonathan Wilson and Willie Graham will officiate. Disposition will be at Valley Home Memorial Park.

Born Aug. 17, 1912, in New Albany, Mass., Ms. Ervine died Dec. 26, 1999, in San Francisco.

Ms. Ervine is survived by her son, William L. Dye of Vacaville; sisters, Lulu Boyd, Mable Edwards and Ozelia Maddox, all of San Francisco, Jaime Blake of Baltimore and Nora Edwards of Detroit; brother, Troy Edwards of Modesto; and grandchildren, Jermaine Dye of Overland Park, Kan., Angalete Dye of Las Vegas and Victoria, Alexandria and Kelsey, all of San Francisco.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Solano Valley Mortuary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Solano Valley Mortuary.

Ernest "John" Toselli

Graveside services for Ernest "John" Toselli, 78, of Vallejo will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Rockville Cemetery.

Stan Sanderson will officiate. Interment will be in Rockville Cemetery.

Mr. Toselli died Dec. 29, 1999, in Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Vallejo after a short illness.

Born July 7, 1921, in Suisun Valley, he lived in Vallejo for 50 years and Suisun Valley for 28 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II as a B-24 bomber pilot in the 15th Air Force in Europe. He attained the rank of captain and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal.

He was part owner of a moving and storage company in Oakland for 30 years and was a member of the Vallejo Elks Lodge No. 559 and SIRS Branch 123.

Mr. Toselli is survived by his stepson, Lewis Castleberry of Santa Rosa; sister, Rose Erickson of Suisun Valley; and nephew, Ken Race of Cupertino.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hope.

Arrangements were made by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Alfredo Jonathon Almada

A funeral Mass for Alfredo Jonathon Almada, 2, of Fairfield, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Burial will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

The toddler died Jan. 1, 2000, in Kaiser Permanente, Sacramento after a long illness.

Born June 13, 1997, in Davis, he resided in Fairfield.

The toddler was survived by his parents, Alfredo and Nadine of Fairfield; maternal grandparents, Guadalupe Herrera of Sacramento; Luis and Amelia of Fairfield.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in Fairfield Funeral Home.

Opal Harriett Blackburn

At her request, no formal services are planned for Opal Harriett Blackburn, 91, of Fairfield.

Interment will be private.

Mrs. Blackburn died Dec. 31, 1999, at NorthBay Medical Center following a sudden illness.

Born June 25, 1908, in Tennessee, she had lived in Fairfield for the past 31 years. She had been a homemaker for all of her adult life.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Warren W. and Arlene Blackburn of Fairfield; a brother, Neil Grisgby of El Paso; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Nadeau Family Funeral Home in Vacaville.

William Arthur Braker

There will be no services held for William Arthur Braker, 81, of Vacaville, at his request. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Braker died Jan. 2, 2000, in Sunbridge Care Center in Vallejo after a long illness.

Born July 19, 1918, in Rockville, he lived in the area for 15 years. He worked as a classified worker for the U.S. government for 32 years. He was a member of the Vacaville Moose Lodge No. 1967, N.A.R.F.E., D.A.V., American Legion, Elks Lodge and a life member of the Clayton Lodge F&AM.

Mr. Braker is survived by his wife, Carolene of Vacaville; daughters, Jan Ferreira of Walnut Creek, Judy Unger of Benicia, Connie Gatlin of Texas and Kathy Hester of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were made by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Kathleen Dechene

A memorial service for Kathleen Dechene, 82, of Fairfield will be held at 11 a.m. today in Grace Episcopal Church.

The Rev. John Duncan will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Dechene died Dec. 29, 1999, in Fairfield after a short illness.

Born Oct. 7, 1917, in Hamilton, Canada, she resided in Fairfield for 12 years. She was a housewife for 50 years. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church of Fairfield, the Vacaville Art League, Fairfield Visual Arts and she loved to paint.

Mrs. Dechene is survived by her husband of 50 years, James of Fairfield; son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Gail Proud of Toronto, Canada; son, Gerald B. Proud of Toronto, Canada. She was preceded in death by a son, Paul Dechene.

Arrangements were made by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Mary Emily Edwards

A memorial service for Mary Emily Edwards, 84, of Fairfield will be held at a later date. A graveside service will also be held at a later date in Clinton, Ill.

Mrs. Edwards died Jan. 2, 2000, in Sunbridge La Mariposa Convalescent Hospital after a long illness.

Born June 28, 1915, in DeWitt County, Ill., she resided in Fairfield for 30 years. She worked as a secretary for the county of Solano for 10 years. She worked both in the Sheriff's Department and the Department of Transportation. She was also a homemaker for many years. She was past president of the PTA, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Chief Solano Chapter. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Fairfield, the Fairfield Senior Center and a volunteer in the craft shop.

Mrs. Edwards is survived by her daughter, Martha Leong of Fairfield; son, James of Denver, Colo.; granddaughter, Leah of San Francisco; grandsons, Jay of Los Angeles and David Leong of San Leandro; great-granddaughter, Saya Yaegashi of San Leandro.

Memorial contributions may be made to Diabetes Society of Solano County, 817 Missouri St., Suite 4A, Fairfield, 94533.

Paul William Friedline

Memorial services for Paul William Friedline, 49, of Vacaville will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at McCune Garden Chapel in Vacaville.

Chaplain Keith Knauf will preside. Inurnment will take place in Michigan at a later date.

Mr. Friedline died Dec. 22, 1999, in Vacaville following a long illness.

Born Dec. 12, 1950, in Detroit, he had lived in Vacaville for 20 years.

He had worked on Mare Island as a carpenter building scaffolding and also worked as a forklift driver for American Home Foods for four years.

Mr. Friedline is survived by his wife, Alberta of Vacaville; sons, Scott Hass of Vacaville and Christopher of Fullerton; daughters, Tanya of Fullerton, Melissa Bone of Fullterton, Jill of Napa and Heather Trujillo of Woodland; his mother, Mable of Brooklyn, Mich.; a sister, Linda Steller of Brighten, Mich.; a brother, Jim, of Howell, Mich.; four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Veterans Memorial Building Association, 549 Merchant St., Vacaville, 95688.
