Harold (Turk) Edward Hayes

Private services for Harold (Turk) Edward Hayes, 59, of Corning will be held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Crossroads Church.

Mr. Hayes died Dec. 28, 1999, in his home after a sudden illness.

Born Feb. 28, 1940, in Youngstown, Ohio, he lived in Corning for five years. He was a 1958 graduate of De Anza High School in El Sobrante and worked for Rheem Manufacturing Co. in Richmond for 33 years.

Mr. Hayes is survived by his children, Rhonda of Red Bluff, Tami of Vallejo, Scott of San Jose and Derrick of San Diego; sisters, Nancy of El Sobrante, Marylou of Martinez and Sandi of San Pablo; and many friends in the Vacaville area.

Contributions may be made to charity of one's choice.

Kathryn Marilyn Louise Holmes

A funeral for Kathryn Marilyn Louise Holmes, 76, of Suisun will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, fifth ward.

Bishop Malcolm Weston will officiate. Entombment will be in Fairmont Memorial Park.

Mrs. Holmes died Jan. 3, 2000, in Fairfield after a brief illness.

Born April 23, 1923, in San Francisco, she lived in Solano County for 50 years. She worked as a U.S. Navy pharmacist mate second class during World War II from 1943 to1945. Later in life she worked at the Napa State Hospital as a psychiatric technician for eight years until she retired.

She was a member of Fairfield fifth ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Holmes is survived by her daughter, Kathy Johnston of Suisun; daughter and son-in-law, Rosalyn and Michael Farley of Antelope; brother and sister-in-law, Kenyon and Viva Edwards of Springfield, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to Fairfield fifth ward Mission Fund, 1439 Langley Way, Suisun, 94585.

Arrangements were made by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Gloria Maria DeLeon Nelson

A Catholic Prayer Service for Gloria Maria DeLeon Nelson, 57, of Sacramento will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.

The Rev. Anthony Maio will preside. Interment will be in Silveyville Cemetery.

Mrs. Nelson died Jan. 4, 2000, in Sacramento after a brief illness.

Born Feb. 25, 1942, in Salt Lake City, she had been a longtime resident of Dixon. She was a homemaker all her life.

Mrs. Nelson is survived by her daughters, Tina Marie Cobarruvias of Lakewood and Deanna Marie Tatum of Corona; sisters, Vera Garcia of Wells, Nev., Connie Haflich of Paris and Tina Ortiz of Davis; brothers, Manual DeLeon of Sonora, David DeLeon of Dixon and George Ortiz of Woodland; grandchildren, Robert and Monica of Lakewood and Sheryse and LaTasha Tatum of Corona; and longtime companion, Thomas Lop of Sacramento.

A rosary will be held at 6 p.m. today in Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.

Lorena "Nanny" Vester

A funeral for Lorena "Nanny" Vester, 84, of Dixon will be noon Friday at Trinity Baptist Church in Vacaville. Pastor Milton Steck will officiate. Burial will be private at Rolling Hills Cemetery in Richmond. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at McCune Garden Chapel.

Mrs. Vester died on Jan. 4, 2000, in Dixon after a long illness.

Born on Nov. 19, 1915, in Knobel, Ark., she worked in various industries during her life. She worked as a fashion buyer for clothing stores. She also worked at the Oakland Army Base for several years and taught Bible study and Sunday school. Her most cherished job, though, was raising and taking care of her family. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother and also as an excellent pie-maker. She was a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Mrs. Vester is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Michael Dybdahl of Dixon; grandchildren, Allison Hope and Chad Christian Dybdahl, both of Dixon; sister, Reta Young of Indiana; brothers, Mackie Reynolds of Indiana and Delbert Reynolds of Florida; and caregiver, Katreena Smallwood of Vacaville. She also is survived by many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Neighborhood Christian Schools Mission Fund, 655 S. First St., Box C, Dixon, 95620, or to Trinity Baptist Church's International Mission Fund, 401 W. Monte Vista Ave., Vacaville, 95688.

Virginia M. Young

A funeral for Virginia M. Young, 75, of Rio Vista will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Fairfield Funeral Home.

W.A. Burkey will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset View Cemetery, Berkeley.

Mrs. Young died Jan. 4, 2000, in Sunbridge Convalescent Home after an illness.

Born Aug. 23, 1924, in Richmond, she resided in Rio Vista for one year. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Young is survived by her husband, Lawrence of Rio Vista; daughters, Barbara Connelly of Rodeo and Pat Lucas of San Pablo; brothers, Neal Covey of San Pablo and Chuck Covey of Concord; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Fairfield Funeral Home.

Agnes Currie Bates

Funeral services for Agnes Currie Bates, 87, of Fairfield, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Stan Sanderson will officiate. Interment will be at Suisun Fairfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bates died on Jan. 6, 2000, at Sierra Solano Care Center in Fairfield after a long illness.

Born on April 20, 1912, in Lanchester, England, she lived in Fairfield for the past 23 years. While living in Bermuda, she worked as a sales clerk for the Golden Gate Co. for 35 years. She moved to the United States in 1970 and worked as a self-employed nanny for 10 years.

She was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge No. 1379 in Fairfield and in Bermuda for 40 years before then. She also enjoyed bingo.

Mrs. Bates is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanette and Denis Morand of Ottawa, Canada, Christine and Art Howard of Annapolis, Md., and Catherine and Bob Siegel of Franklin, N.J.; sons and daughters-in-law, Alfred and Joan of Napier, New Zealand, and George and Beth of Aiken, S.C.; and close friends, Hazel Hampton and Lola Simmons, both of Fairfield. She also had 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Aid Society of Northern California, 2701 Cottage Way, Sacramento, 95825.

Arrangements are being handled by Byran-Braker Funeral Home.

Mark Stewart Frenette

Funeral services for Mark Stewart Frenette, 37, of Phoenix will be 8 p.m. Monday in Fairfield Funeral Home.

Pastor Robert Lewis will officiate. Inurnment will be in Famont Memorial Park.

Mr. Frenette died Jan. 5, 2000, in his home unexpectedly.

Born Nov. 7, 1962, in Marshfield, Wis., the former Fairfield resident had lived in Arizona for four years. He worked as a welder.

Mr. Frenette is survived by his parents, James and Dorothy of Suisun; sister, Yvonne Frenette Rech of Milwaukee; sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Dr. Donato Stinghen of Piedmont and Bette and Jim Haley of Folsom; brother, Arnie of Sheboygan, Wis; two nephews; and one great-nephew;

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in Fairfield Funeral Home.

Arrangements are being handled by Fairfield Funeral Home.

Charles 'Ronnie' Ramsey

Funeral services for Charles "Ronnie" Ramsey, 41, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Monday in Fairfield Funeral Home.

The Rev. Claybon Lea Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Suisun Fairfield Cemetery.

Mr. Ramsey died Jan. 4, 2000, in David Grant Medical Center after a short illness.

Born March 15, 1958, in Manchester, Tenn., he resided in Fairfield for 39 years. He worked as an auto mechanic for Don's Towing Service.

Mr. Ramsey is survived by his daughters, Sabrina Marie of Fairfield and Donna Mae of Vacaville; sons, Charles R. Jr. of Dixon and Galen and Jacob, both of Vacaville; parents, Charles and Charline of Fairfield; brother, Kenneth of Fairfield; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and special friends, Ronda and Bonnie Ramsey of Vacaville

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Fairfield Funeral Home.

Arrangements are being handled by Fairfield Funeral Home.

William E. White

Memorial services for William E. White, 85, of Vacaville will be 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at the niche site of Mr. White and his late wife, Hazel.

Mr. White died on Dec. 19, 1999, surrounded by his loving family in Vacaville.

Born on April 14, 1914, in New Orleans, he spent many years in Berkeley before moving to Vacaville. He was a Pullman porter and longtime U.S. Postal Service driver.

Mr. White is survived by his sons, William E. Jr. and Malcolm; sister, Theodora Pollard; brother, Theophield; grandchildren, David, Craig and Natalie; great-grandchildren, Scott and Georgia; and a host of loving relatives and friends.

Frances A. Wink

Memorial services for Frances A. Wink, 72, of Fairfield will be 4 p.m. today in St. Mark's Lutheran Church. There will be a private burial at sea.

Mrs. Wink died Dec. 30, 1999, in her home after an illness.

Born July 23, 1927, in Winfield, Kan., she lived in Fairfield for 50 years. She worked as a teacher with the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District for 30 years, teaching mostly at Cleo Gordon Elementary.

She was an active volunteer for NorthBay Hospital Guild, Kaiser Permanente in Fairfield, and was a member of the Save Our Senior program at Fairfield Senior Center, TOPS, Women of the Moose and Fairfield Chapter of the Northern California Epilepsy Support Group.

Mrs. Wink is survived by her daughter and her daughter's lifelong partner, Kyra Wink and Nancy Sullivan of Vacaville; nephews, Ron Allen and his wife, Debbie, of Fairfield, and Kirk Allen and his wife, Robin, of Benicia; brother-in-law, Dean Allen of Grants Pass, Ore.; sister-in-law, Helen Lang of Cordelia; and cousins, Peggy Upton of Harrison, Ark., and Roy and Josephine White of Berryville, Ark.

Memorial contributions can be made to American Epilepsy Society, American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.

Arrangements are being handled by Fairfield Funeral Home.

Laura Ann Depavo

There will be no services for Laura Ann Depavo, 70, of Dixon at her request. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Depavo died Dec. 19, 1999, in Dixon after a short illness.

Born Nov. 6, 1929, in Oakland, she lived in Dixon for six years. She was a homemaker for 40 years.

Mrs. Depavo enjoyed gardening and her grandchildren.

Mrs. Depavo is survived by her daughter, Sheri Schottstaedt of Dixon; brothers, Harold Perreira of Roseville and Eddie Perreira of San Leandro; sister, Alice Willer of Fremont; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to North Bay Hospice, 1800 Pennsylvania Ave., Fairfield, 94533-9988.

Royce Robert Ratterman

Funeral services for Royce Robert Ratterman, 70, of Vacaville will be 11 a.m. Monday in Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

The Rev. Thomas Smith will preside. Interment will follow in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mr. Ratterman died Jan. 5, 2000, in Kaiser Hospital South, Sacramento.

Born July 3, 1929, in Union City, Okla., he resided in Vacaville for 26 years. He had been a life member of the International Brotherhood of Paints and Allied Trades Union since May 1950, Locals 560 and 376. He worked as a drywall and Sheetrock finisher.

In his youth, he was top salesperson for the Richmond Independent Newspaper, and as a young adult he worked delivering ice for the Union Ice Co. in Richmond.

He was a graduate of Richmond High School and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was also co-owner of the Vaca Valley Drag Strip, which opened in 1956.

Mr. Ratterman is survived by his wife, Gladys of Vacaville; daughters, Robin Nelson of Dixon and Rosanne of Oakland; son, Royce of Vacaville; stepdaughter, Denise Berger of El Cerrito; sisters, Rowena Moody of Los Gatos and Joan Kamrar of Pacific Grove; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, George; mother, Marie; and brother, Marvin "Ed," all of Richmond.

Friends are invited for visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity or Community Presbyterian Church Organ Fund.
