Thomas Richard Dillbeck

A Celebration of Life service for Thomas Richard Dillbeck, 70, of Fairfield will be 6:30 p.m. Sunday at First Christian Church in Suisun. Pastor Chuck McKinney will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Dillbeck died on Jan. 22, 2000, at David Grant Medical Center on Travis Air Force Base after a long illness.

Born on Feb. 3, 1929, in Los Angeles, he lived in Fairfield for the past 28 years. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a master sergeant at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey in 1971. He served as an air transportation superintendent and served in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard as a warehouseman for five years, before retiring in 1980. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Fairfield and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Mr. Dillbeck is survived by his daughters, Myrian Olga Elento of Fairfield and Karen Anne Athen of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sons, Thomas Richard of Vacaville and Michael George and John Reid, both of Fairfield; and sisters, Winifred Newman of Willits, Sarah of Redlands and Dorothy Otto of Oklahoma City. He also had six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Olga, in 1998.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Gideons International, P.O. Box 108, Fairfield, 94533.

Bernice Joanne Etchieson

No formal services will be held for Bernice Joanne Etchieson, 40, of Vacaville. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Etchieson died on Jan. 23, 2000, in Vacaville after a short illness.

Born on Sept. 3, 1959, in Maywood, she lived in Vacaville for the past year.

Mrs. Etchieson is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tine Etchieson and Rick Rominski of Vacaville; grandsons, Jacob, Christopher and Zachary Rominski of Vacaville; sister, Lorretta Gil of Fairfield; brothers, William Sewell of San Pablo and Rodney Sewell of Fairfield; and companion, Charles Clark of Lakewood, Colo.

Elvis Lee Horn

A funeral for Elvis Lee Horn, 87, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. today at McCune Garden Chapel. The Rev. Leroy Gainey of First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be private at Rolling Hills in Richmond.

Born Nov. 3, 1912, in Denning, Ark., Mr. Horn died Jan. 22, 2000, at his son's home in Vacaville.

Mr. Horn lived in and around San Pablo for 48 years and in Vacaville for the last 10 years.

He enjoyed gardening and watching baseball after his retirement from Chevron Research in 1977.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Burnice; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Deborah of Vacaville; and four grandchildren.

Donations may be made to Kaiser Hospice, 975 Sereno Drive, Vallejo, 94590, or Community Presbyterian Church, Organ Fund, 425 Hemlock St., Vacaville, 95688.

Patricia B. Kalil

No formal services will be held for Patricia B. Kalil, 58, of Vacaville. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Kalil died on Jan. 23, 2000, in Vacaville.

Born on Jan. 17, 1942, in Milwaukee, she lived in Vacaville for the past 27 years. She worked for Lucky Distribution for 13 years and was a member of the Lions Club. She enjoyed writing poetry, riding horses and cooking.

Mrs. Kalil is survived by her sons, Shawn W. Spontini and Shane J. Spontini, both of Vacaville; mother, Alice Griffin of Vacaville; grandchildren, Shawn W. Spontini II, Carissa Spontini and Donovan Spontini, all of Vacaville; sister and brother-in-law, Tari and Wayne Essex of Vacaville; nephew, Jason McMickle of Vacaville; nieces, Holly and Heather Griffin of Petaluma; and brothers, Billy Griffin of Vacaville and Patrick Griffin of Marin.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, care of Ruth Bradanini, 290 Fruitvale Road, Vacaville, 95688.

Harry Philip Ross

No formal services will be held for Harry Philip Ross, 76, of Vacaville. His ashes will be scattered at sea.

Mr. Ross died on Jan. 24, 2000, at Summerfield House in Vacaville.

Born on Jan. 21, 1924, in Alameda, he had lived in Vacaville for the past 11 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a court reporter and worked as a salesman for Keuffel & Esser for 21 years. He was a volunteer for the Kaiser Clinic in Vacaville. An avid artist, he said, "I've gone to that grand art gallery in the sky."

Mr. Ross is survived by his daughters, Kimberly of Sunnyvale and Deborah Klaber of La Mesa; and sons, Paul of Gahanna, Ohio, and Chris of Orlando, Fla. He was the ninth of a family of 14 children of Paul Leslie and Anna Josephine Ross. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, in February.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or Diabetes Association.

Deabner Lacy

A funeral for Deabner Lacy, 74, of Fairfield will be noon Friday at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Suisun. The Rev. Claybon Lea will officiate. Burial will be at Rockville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. today at Solano Valley Mortuary. A wake will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Concord Missionary Baptist Church in San Francisco.

Mr. Lacy died on Jan. 21, 2000, at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Vallejo after a brief illness.

Born on April 30, 1925, in Bullard, Texas, he lived in Fairfield for the past 11 years. He worked as a butcher for the Luce Meat Co., as a security guard for Lewis and Taylor and as a janitor for Wells Fargo Security. He was a veteran of World War II, a deacon at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and an active member of the California State Baptist Laymans.

Mr. Lacy is survived by his wife, Doris of Fairfield; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Renea of San Ramon; brother, A.C. of San Francisco; and grandchildren, Dianelle of San Ramon, Janero of Fairfield, Kimberly Burks of Atlanta, Stephanie Roberson of Houston and Rahman of San Ramon.

Mary Ruth Roberts

Private services will be held for Mary Ruth Roberts, 81, of Green Valley. Inurnment also will be private.

Mrs. Roberts died on Jan. 22, 2000, at her home in Green Valley after a long illness.

Born on Jan. 4, 1919, in Oklahoma, she lived in Green Valley for 32 years. She was a homemaker, an avid golfer and a member of Green Valley Country Club.

Mrs. Roberts is survived by her daughters, Josephine of San Rafael and Sarah Clark of Westlake Village; grandsons, David Anderson and Roy Clark, both of Westlake Village; and brother, Bill Bayless of Temecula.

T. Chris Alderton

A memorial service for Pastor T. Chris Alderton, 44, of Vacaville will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Valley Evangelical Free Church in Vacaville. Pastor Raleigh Galgan will officiate.

Burial will be private at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight at Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Pastor Alderton died unexpectedly on Jan. 23, 2000, in Bella Vista, Ark.

Born on Sept. 2, 1955, in Keokuk, Iowa, he had lived in Vacaville for a total of 16 years.

He worked as minister of music at First Baptist Church from 1978 to 1984 and as pastor of worship and the arts at Valley Church from 1989 to 2000. He was well-known for his original dramatic/musical presentations at Christmas and Easter, in addition to his annual Valentine's Dinner Theater.

He enjoyed singing, songwriting, photography, gardening, baseball and coaching Little League.

He graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1978, from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in 1982 and was working to complete his doctorate of ministry degree from Biola University School of Theology in La Mirada.

Pastor Alderton is survived by his wife, Glenda of Vacaville; children, Melody, Josiah, Emily and Matthew, all of Vacaville; brother, Curt of Durango, Colo.; and parents, Verlin and Sylvia of Bella Vista, Ark. He also had several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Valley Evangelical Free Church, 5063 Maple Road, Vacaville, 95687, to the attention of the Alderton family.

Ann T. Blackwell

A private cryptside service will be held Saturday at Fairmont Memorial Park for Ann T. Blackwell, 78, of Salem, Ore.

Mrs. Blackwell died Jan. 24, 2000, in Salem. Born in Portland, Ore. in 1921, she had lived in Salem for 13 years and was a former 25-year resident of Fairfield.

Early in her life, she lived in Mansfield, Wash., where she graduated from high school. She received her teaching degree from Oregon College of Education in Monmouth, Ore., in 1954 and her master's degree in administration from Chapman College. She taught primary school and special reading in Oregon and retired from Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District after 25 years.

She enjoyed writing, travel and walking in the mall; she often could be seen at Johnson's Bakery at the mall, having coffee and sharing conversation.

Mrs. Blackwell is survived by her sons, Jim of Salem and Jerry of Las Vegas; and sisters, Deane Maddux and Jean Bryan, both of Oregon.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, James, in 1992.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W. Texas St., in Fairfield.

Leo L. Lorenger

A memorial Mass for Leo L. Lorenger, 95, of Fairfield will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield. The Rev. Louis Valenzuela will officiate. Inurnment will be at Walt Hill Cemetery in Walt Hill, Neb.

Mr. Lorenger died Jan. 22, 2000, in Fairfield following a short illness.

Born July 19, 1904, in Cedar Creek, Neb., he had lived in Fairfield for a year. He previously resided in Ocala, Fla., for 20 years, having moved from Sioux City, Iowa, where he had lived for 40 years.

Mr. Lorenger worked for 40 years until he retired as a machinist for Armour and Co. in Sioux City. He loved to renovate homes and also liked to travel.

He is survived by his daughter, Ethel Thaxton of Fairfield; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Beatrice June.

Arrangements are being handled by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Sumi Ohye Okahara

A funeral for Sumi Ohye Okahara, 77, of Fairfield will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. The Rev. Kosho Yukawa will officiate. Inurnment will be at Rockville Cemetery at a later date.

Born Feb. 7, 1922, in Troutdale, Ore., Mrs. Okahara died Jan. 24, 2000, in Vallejo.

A resident of Fairfield for 45 years, Mrs. Okahara worked as a teacher for 22 years with the Benicia Unified School District before retiring. She was a member of the Sacramento Buddhist Church and a former member Child Haven board of directors in Fairfield. She also was a student-teacher supervisor at Chapman University. Mrs. Okahara loved to read.

Mrs. Okahara is survived by her husband of 45 years, Tsutomu of Fairfield; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Balaram Puligandla of Piedmont and Anne and Steven Chin of El Cerrito; brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Kimi Ohye of San Leandro; and four grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to Child Haven, 801 Empire St., Fairfield, 94533.

Fredrick Andrew Albertsen

A Mass of Christian Burial for Fredrick Andrew Albertsen, 66, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield.

The Rev. Michael Downey will officiate. Burial will be at Rockville Cemetery. Mr. Albertsen will be given military honors at his graveside. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, with a vigil service to be held at 7 p.m.

Mr. Albertsen died on Jan. 26, 2000, at his home in Fairfield after a long illness.

Born on Jan. 9, 1934, in San Francisco, he lived in Fairfield for the past 33 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1971 and worked as a flight engineer for the last five years of his Air Force career. He retired as a technical sergeant and then worked for 18 1/2 years at Mare Island Naval Shipyard as a marine machinist. He enjoyed golf as a hobby.

Mr. Albertsen is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen of Fairfield; daughters, Cynthia Marie Benthien of Suisun, Constance Ann Davis of Vacaville and Catherine Theresa Dagenet of Fairfield; and sister, Jo Ann St. Andre of Concord. He also had five grandchildren.
