A Catholic Prayer Service for Ammie L. Rositano, 26, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Vaca Hills Chapel.

The Rev. Benedict DeLeon of St. Mary's Church will officiate.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Vaca Hills Chapel.

Miss Rositano will be buried in the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born Aug. 24, 1973, in Fairfield, Miss Rositano died Jan. 27, 2000, at the University of California, Davis, Medical Center in Sacramento after a short illness.

She was a lifelong resident of Solano County.

She worked for Travino's for the past year.

She is survived by her daughter, Vannessa Martinez of Vacaville; son, Jose Martinez III of Vacaville; fiance, Jose Martinez; parents, Amiel Rositano of Sacramento and Wanda Curtiss of Vacaville; sister, Annie Rositano of Vacaville; brothers, Jim, Joe, Jeff and Bill Shea, all of Vacaville.

Vera Donato

A funeral for Vera Donato, 72, of Fairfield, will be 7 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Fairfield. The Rev. Sebastian Meyer will officiate. Inurnment will be private. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday with a vigil to be held at 7 p.m.

Ms. Donato died on Jan. 28, 2000, at NorthBay Medical Center.

Born on Dec. 29, 1927, in Los Angeles, she lived in Fairfield for the past 21 years. She worked in accounting for many charitable organizations.

Ms. Donato is survived by her father, Alfonso of Los Angeles; sisters, Olga Garcia of San Leandro, Hilda Ostrom of Woodland, and Susan Borghorst of Whidbey Island, Wash.; and brother, Ruben of Fairfield. She also had numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Maria, in 1997.

Wanda Jean Sowell Gass

Memorial services for Wanda Jean Sowell Gass, 63, of Fairfield, will be 4 p.m. today at Solano Valley Mortuary Chapel. Inurnment will be private at Solano Valley Mortuary.

Mrs. Gass died on Jan. 28, 2000, at her home in Fairfield after a long illness.

Born on Nov. 21, 1936, in Douglas, Ariz., she lived in Fairfield for 60 years. She was a housewife.

Mrs. Gass is survived by her daughters, Betty Lou Lopez and Sharon Bernabe, both of Pasadena, Texas, Roxanne Dominguez of Suisun, Rhonda Orozco of Cicero, Ill., Bonnie of Fairfield and Shelly Chavarria of Twentynine Palms; sons, Daniel of Humboldt County, Rick of Twentynine Palms and Jose Lorenzana of Vacaville; sisters, Betty Spafford and Shirley Wysong, both of Woodland; and brothers, Robert Sowell of Sacramento, and Jerry Sowell of Salt Lake City. She also had 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Scott L. Vasconcelles

A funeral Mass for Scott L. Vasconcelles, 38, of Fairfield, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield. The Rev. Michael Downey will officiate. Burial will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Fairfield Funeral Home with a vigil to be held at 7 p.m.

Mr. Vasconcelles died on Feb. 1, 2000, at Sunbridge LaMariposa Convalescent after a long illness.

Born on Oct. 11, 1961, in Honolulu, he was a former Vacaville resident. He worked as an accounting assistant at the University of California, Davis, for 19 years.

Mr. Vasconcelles is survived by his parents, Elmer and Geraldine of Fairfield; sisters, Pamela of San Jose and Lois Vasconcelles-Enriques of Cordelia; and brother, Terry of Vacaville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, P.O. Box 426182, San Francisco, 94142-6182.

Billy Callison

A graveside service for Billy Callison, 73, of Vacaville will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. Inurnment will be at the cemetery.

Mr. Callison died on Jan. 29, 2000, in Vacaville after a long illness.

Born on Dec. 23, 1926, in Cleveland, Okla., he lived in Vacaville for the past 53 years. He was a painting contractor for more than 26 years. He loved to hunt, fish and paint pictures.

Mr. Callison is survived by his wife of 53 years, Beverly of Vacaville; daughters, Carlye Rose of Alaska, Debra Smith of Alaska and Judy Painter of Vacaville; and son, Audie of Vacaville. He also had 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth and Devin.

Everett Forbes Nourse

A funeral for Everett Forbes Nourse, 88, will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Trinity Baptist Church in Vacaville. Pastor Milton Steck will officiate. Burial will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mr. Nourse died January 31, 2000, in Vacaville following a short illness.

Born June 8, 1911, in Chico, Mr. Nourse had lived in Vacaville for 60 years, coming to Solano County as a farm adviser for 4-H and agriculture through the University of California - a job he held for 35 years.

Nourse will be best remembered, though, for his talent in playing theater and church organs.

He was the staff organist at San Francisco's famous Fox Theater from 1944 to 1963. He also was an organist at the Paramount Theater in Oakland as well as many other theaters in the greater Bay Area.

For the past 32 years, he had been the organist at Trinity Baptist Church in Vacaville. He also played for the Rotary Club for 25 years.

In 1998, Mr. Nourse was inducted into the American Theater Organ Society's Hall of Fame, performing a musical tribute to the Fox Theater and earning a standing ovation during a special concert.

Mr. Nourse is survived by his daughter, Jeanne of Sonoma; and three nieces, Carol Shuey of Concord, Alicia of Occidental and Pat Buhles of Los Altos.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Louise, in 1992.

Recorded music of Mr. Nourse's will be played at a visitation in the church from 1 to 1:30 p.m. today.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Trinity Baptist Church Sanctuary Building Fund, 401 W. Monte Vista Ave., Vacaville, 95688.

Leral Whitney

A funeral for Leral Whitney, 71, of Fairfield will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Fairfield Funeral Home. The Rev. Eddie Brigham will officiate. Inurnment will be private. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Whitney died on Jan. 31, 2000, at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Vallejo.

Born on July 5, 1928, in Greensburg, Ky., she lived in Fairfield for the past 15 years. She worked as a home health aide for the state of California for 20 years. She was a member of the Rock of Ages Church in San Francisco.

Mrs. Whitney is survived by her husband, Oscar of Fairfield; daughters, Amelia Butler of Columbus, Ohio, Joyce Clayton and Josephine Clayton, both of Fairfield, and Janatta Clayton of Vacaville; and sons, James Groves of Fairfield and Aaron Clayton of Sacramento. She also had 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Richard D. Edwards

A funeral for Richard D. Edwards, 63, of Stroud Township, Pa., will be 2 p.m. Monday at William H. Clark Funeral Home in Stroudsburg, Pa. Burial will follow at Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg, Pa.

Mr. Edwards died on Feb. 1, 2000, at St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem, Pa., after a long illness.

Born on Dec. 22, 1936, in Providence, R.I., he worked as a security officer at the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg and then for Stroud Mall security, where he also played Santa Claus during the holiday season. A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the military police for the U.S. Army and was wounded during his service. He enjoyed collecting guns and eagle figurines.

Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife, Della M. Christian Edwards of Stroud Township; former wife, Louise Edwards of Vacaville; daughters, Debbie and Rosemarie Melton, both of Vacaville; stepsons, Wayne Christian of Marshalls Creek, Pa., and David Christian of Henryville, Pa.; grandchildren, Chris Botke, Melissa Botke, Shaun Melton and Nicole Melton, all of Vacaville; stepgrandson, Wayne Christian Jr.; and stepsister, Pauline Fry of Easton, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Pocono Dialysis Center, 447 Plaza Court, East Stroudsburg, Pa., 18301.

Arrangements are being handled by William H. Clark Funeral Home Inc.

Patrick L. Schlemmer Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Patrick L. Schlemmer Sr., 54, of Suisun will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield. The Rev. Michael Downey will officiate. Burial will be at San Joaquin National Cemetery in Gustine. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield, with a vigil to be recited at 7 p.m.

Mr. Schlemmer died on Jan. 30, 2000, at San Francisco Veterans Administration Hospital.

Born on Aug. 29, 1945, in Honolulu, he lived in Suisun for the past 13 years after having lived in Hawaii and Coalinga before then. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and made two tours in Vietnam, retiring as a seargent first class after 20 years of service. He also worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard for six years as a contractor and was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Mr. Schlemmer is survived by his wife, Tranquilina of Suisun; sons, Patrick Jr. and Anthony Chargualaf, both of Suisun; daughter, Michelle Chargualaf of Suisun; brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward and Lei, Rodney and Puanani and Thomas and Theresa, all of Kailua, Hawaii; sister and brother-in-law, Pautette and Kirk Lapilio of Waianae, Hawaii; sister, Patricia of Kaneohe, Hawaii; and close friends, Charles and Carolyn Williams of Suisun. He also had numerous aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces.

Anna 'Pauline' Reising

A memorial service for Anna 'Pauline' Reising, 96, of Flanagan, Ill., will be held 4:30 p.m. today at the Antioch Christian Church in Toluca, Ill.

The Rev. Robert Idell will officiate. Burial will be in Antioch Christian Cemetery at a later date.

Born Oct. 3, 1903, in Toluca, Ill., Mrs. Reising died Feb. 2, 2000, at OSF St. James Hospital in Pontiac, Ill.

Mrs. Riesing was a civilian employee for the Army Air Corps station in Milwaukee during World War II. After her husband retired in 1968, they moved to Vacaville, where she was active with the Leisure Town Library and the Women's Club. She was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Vacaville and served as church treasurer for many years. She was chairwoman of her Church Circle and treasurer of the Church Women United and Vaca FISH.

She is survived by her nephew, Russell Litchfield of Toluca, Ill.; great-nieces, Pauline Fecht of Toluca, Ill., Connie Litte of Knoxville, Tenn., Judy Neff of Newburg, Ind., Janet Rickets of Canton, Mo., and Barb Jacobs of Chenoa, Ill.; and great-nephew, Greg Litchfield of Bloomington, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, in 1968.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Vaca FISH or to the Community Presbyterian Church new organ fund.

Everett L. Ricketts

At his request, there will be no formal services for Everett L. Ricketts, 77, of Vacaville. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Ricketts died on Jan. 31, 2000, in Vacaville after a long illness.

Born on Nov. 13, 1922, in Fairport, Iowa, he lived in Vacaville for the past 27 years. He served 10 years with the U.S. Marines and 21 years with the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a master sergeant. He also worked in civil service for 10 years before retiring. He loved his family and preparing food. He also enjoyed his cat, Socks, also known as Hound Dog.

Mr. Ricketts is survived by his wife, Becky of Vacaville; stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Dennis and Peggy Perdue of Virginia; sons and daughters-in-law, Rickey Lee and Lisa of Hawaii, and Larry Ray and Sharon of Vacaville; daughter, Susan Forsythe of Vacaville; and grandchildren, Kristy and Jon of Hawaii, Jonah, Lime and April Forsythe of Vacaville and Sarah Ruth of Vacaville.

Wendell J. Weaver

At his request, no formal services will be held for Wendell J. Weaver, 71, of Dixon. The family will hold an open house at 1 p.m. Feb. 12. Burial will be private.

Born Oct. 16, 1928, in Winner, S.D., Mr. Weaver died Feb. 2, 2000, in Dixon after a long illness.

He worked for BW Trucking for 13 years before retiring. He loved his chickens, cows, horses and his dog, Tosha. Mr. Weaver also enjoyed entertaining.

Mr. Weaver is survived by his wife of 44 years, Shirley; daughter, Joy of Dixon; sons and daughters-in-law, Neal and Debbie of Dixon, and Jay and Lisa of Vallejo; six grandchildren; and mother-in-law, Viola Brain of Dixon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to NorthBay Hospice, 1800 Pennsylvania Ave., Fairfield, 94533-9980, or that chicken feed be sent to the family's home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.

Stanley R. Birdwell

A memorial graveside service for Stanley R. Birdwell, 47, of Dixon will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Silveyville Cemetery in Dixon.

Mr. Birdwell died on Jan. 26, 2000, at Sereno Care Center in Vallejo after a long illness.

Born on Feb. 16, 1952, in Fairfield, he was a lifelong resident of Dixon.

Mr. Birdwell is survived by his sons, Eric and Jeremy; brother, Wallace of Sacramento; sisters, Imogene Carpenter, Shirley Scribner and Pat Reddick, all of Dixon, and Marqurite Ring of Sacramento. He also had two grandsons and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews in the Sacramento and Dixon areas.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wallace C.; mother, Rethal Birdwell Stallings; and brothers, Donald, David and Gary.

Louisa C. Cooke

A private service for Louisa C. Cooke, 80, of Fairfield will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be private at Suisun Fairfield Cemetery.

Mrs. Cooke died on Feb. 3, 2000, at Sunbridge La Mariposa Convalescent Hospital in Fairfield after a short illness.

Born on March 5, 1919, in Bend, Ore., she lived in Fairfield for the past year after having lived in Carson City for 20 years. She was raised in Fairfield and Cordelia, attended Armijo High School as Louise Jacobus and was a homemaker for 35 years.

Mrs. Cooke is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jo Anne and John Smith of Fairfield; daughter, Dianne B. Haasch of Mount Aukem; son and daughter-in-law, James M. and Carol of Sacramento; son, John of Sacramento; and sister, Beatrice Kingsley of San Francisco.
