Frank Cortijo
A memorial service for Frank Cortijo, 65, of Fairfield, will be 4 p.m. Thursday at the Fairfield Funeral Home. Larry Vilardo will officiate. Inurnment will be at Suisun Fairfield Cemetery.
Born July 30, 1934, in San Francisco, Mr. Cortijo died April 2, 2000, at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Vallejo.
He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1954 to 1958 and was also a merchant marine for 15 years. He loved to spend time traveling in his RV and fishing.
He worked as an engineer at the Presidio in San Francisco for 25 years, before retiring in 1984.
Mr. Cortijo is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Fairfield; daughters, Kimberly of Fairfield and Denese Burrell of Concrete, Wash.; sons, Mark Burrell of Vacaville, Tim of Walnut Cove, N.C. and Steven of Linwood; sister, Gert Scanlon of Fairfield; brother, Joe of Sunnyvale; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fairfield Funeral Home.
Gertie Mae Mashburn
Graveside services for Gertie Mae Mashburn, 83, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Rockville Cemetery. Glen Green will officiate. Burial will be at Rockville Cemetery.
Born Jan. 10, 1917, in Nacogdoches, Texas, Mrs. Mashburn died April 2, 2000, at home in Fairfield after a long illness.
Mrs. Mashburn was a resident of Fairfield-Suisun area for 59 years. She worked in the restaurant business for 17 years and was the former owner of the Top Notch Cafe in Suisun. She retired in 1975. She enjoyed traveling, trips to Reno, walking, gardening, music, playing cards and cooking abundant meals for her family and friends. She was a member of the Solano Strollers and logged almost 11,000 miles with the group in the past 10 years.
Mrs. Mashburn is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Hank Coldani of Stockton; son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Margie of Fairfield; sisters, Pearl Ferry and Carolyn Swanson both of Fairfield; brother and sister-in-law, Woodrow and Mozelle Copeland of Fairfield; brother, Elmer Copeland of Fairfield; sister-in-law, Goldie Huffman of Fairfield; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four step-grandchildren and 14 great-step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis.

Harry Wilmer Arbuckle
A funeral for Harry Wilmer Arbuckle, 80, of Vacaville will be noon Thursday at Vaca Hills Chapel. Burial will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the chapel.
Mr. Arbuckle died on April 2, 2000, at his daughter's home in Vacaville.
Born on June 3, 1919, in Clarksburg, Pa., he moved to Vacaville in 1979. A veteran of World War II, he served in both the U.S. Navy and Army. He was a loving father who will be dearly missed by his family.
Mr. Arbuckle is survived by his son, William of Dublin; daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Martin Wittmers, Joyce and Adrian De La Torre and Hazel and Tony Quintana, all of Vacaville; grandchildren, William, James and Timothy Willwerth, Joseph, Jean and Michelle De La Torre, Athena White, Rachel and Natalia Quintana and Aaron, David and Christina Wittmers; great-granddaughter, Wendy; sister and brother-in-law, Jessie and Ralph Wallin; and nieces, Mary Anne Lowery, Antoinette Doyle, Sandra Grado and Barbara Veach.
Dawn Dolores Conrad
A Catholic Prayer Service for Dawn Dolores Conrad, 72, of Dixon will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Catholic Church. The Rev. Maurice O'Brien will officiate. Burial will follow at Silveyville Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. today at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.
Mrs. Conrad died on April 2, 2000, in Davis after a long illness.
Born on Feb. 27, 1928, in Deluth, Minn., she lived in Dixon since 1957. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandson.
Mrs. Conrad is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert; daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Robert Reeb and Margaret and Edward Saulter, all of Pollock Pines; and sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Maria of Dixon and Theodore and Diane of Roseville. She also had 21 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Frank Costa
At his request, no funeral will be held for Frank Costa, 87, of Vacaville. Interment will be private.
Born Aug. 14, 1912, in Hanford, Mr. Costa died April 1, 2000, at the Winsor House Convalescent Hospital after a long illness.
Formerly of Richmond, he lived in Vacaville for three years. He worked for 45 years as vice president of a tannery until retiring in 1978.
Mr. Costa is survived by his wife, Dorothy, with whom he celebrated their 40th anniversary this month; daughters, Sharon Deschane of Vacaville and Marlene Padilla of Concord; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Lola Mae Lembeth
Graveside services for Lola Mae Lembeth, 89, of Dixon will be 10 a.m. Friday at Silveyville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home in Dixon.
Mrs. Lembeth died on April 2, 2000, at her home in Dixon after a long illness.
Born on Nov. 1, 1910, in Ringling, Okla., she lived in Dixon for the past 30 years. She was a homemaker all her life.
She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and fishing.
Mrs. Lembeth is survived by her daughter, Joyce Hullender of Orangevale; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Bill Ray of Spiro, Okla.; sons and daughters-in-law, Lonnie and Patty of Phoenix and Ray and Debra of Dixon; and sister, Ruby Barnard of Windslow, Ariz. She also had 30 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Richard John Abbott
At his request, no formal services will be held for Richard John Abbott, 56, of Vacaville. Inurnment will be at San Joaquin National Cemetery.
Mr. Abbott died on April 3, 2000, in Fairfield.
Born on May 17, 1943, in San Francisco, he lived in Vacaville for 12 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, after which he became an entrepreneur in the research field. He enjoyed coin and stamp collecting.
Mr. Abbott is survived by his mother, Janevieve of Vacaville; and sister, Patryce of Long Island, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Elvie J. Lewis

Mr. Lewis died on April 2, 2000, in Fairfield after a short illness.
Born on Sept. 11, 1914, in Fredericks Town, Mo., he lived in Dixon for 20 years. Before retiring, he worked for Southern Pacific Railroad as a brakeman for 30 years. He loved golfing.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary of Dixon; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Clyde Carrier of Dixon; and grandchildren, Dan Carrier of Everett, Wash., and Phil Carrier and Tom Carrier, both of Dixon. He also had four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Veriato Cabral Mascarenhas
A funeral for Veriato Cabral Mascarenhas, 67, of Suisun will be 1 p.m. Friday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield. The Rev. W.C. Estes will officiate. Interment will be at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Mascarenhas died on April 3, 2000, at his home in Suisun after a long illness.
Born on June 9, 1932, in New Haven, Conn., he lived in Suisun for 13 years after having lived in San Francisco for 48 years. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years during the 1950s. He retired from Letterman Army Medical Center as a supervisor in the Nutrition Care Division. He received the Civilian Award for Humanitarian Service from the Department of the Army. He was a member of the New Strangers Home Missionary Baptist Church in San Francisco. He enjoyed fishing, working with wood, movies and artwork.
Mr. Mascarenhas is survived by his wife, Mary of Suisun; daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Ernest Cleveland and Mimi and Jack Ellis, all of Suisun City; son and daughter-in-law, Marcus and Thasha Ward of Suisun City; sons, David of Florence, Colo., and Phillip of London; mother-in-law, Margaret Ward of Hayward; and brother-in-law, George Booker of Vallejo. He also had 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
John H. Tiernan
At his request, no formal services will be held for John H. Tiernan, 92. He died on March 6, 2000, at his home in Auburn.
Born on April 8, 1907, in Rapid River, Mich., he lived in Auburn for 42 years, having previously lived in the Vacaville/Dixon area. He worked as a hospital administrator, a real estate agent and a real estate appraiser. He earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy from the University of Chicago and a master's degree in hospital administration from Columbia University. During World War II he was a U.S. Navy petty officer who saw gunboat duty in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He was a member of several clubs and organizations, including the Dixon Boat and Fishing Club.
Mr. Tiernan is survived by his daughter, Sharon Tiekamp of Renton, Wash.; and close friend, Karen Reitz of Auburn. He also had two granddaughters, four great-grandsons and several cousins.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Tiernan requested that books or financial donations be made in his memory to any school library or to the children's department of any public library.
Evette Mae Espiritu
A funeral for Evette Mae Espiritu, 22, of Suisun City, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. Pastor Stewart Drake will officiate.
Visitation will be held at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be at Suisun Fairfield Cemetery.
Born April 20, 1977, in San Francisco, Ms. Espiritu died April 5, 2000, at home after a brief illness.
A Suisun City resident for nine years, Ms. Espiritu was a 1995 graduate of Armijo High School. She attended both Brymans College in San Francicso and Solano Community College, working part time at McDonald's while attending school. She enjoyed art and drawing, and her work had been displayed at the Fairfield Center for Performing Arts.
Ms. Espiritu is survived by her parents, Augusto and Camille of Suisun City; brother, Alain of Suisun City; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Tes of Suisun City; paternal grandparents Marceliano and Tomasa of Suisun City; nephew, Darien of Suisun City; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Wauneta June Francis
Graveside services for Wauneta June Francis, 71, of Vacaville, will be 2 p.m. today at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. Robert LaDuke will officiate. Burial will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
Born June 20, 1928, in Bennett, Neb., Mrs. Francis died April 3, 2000, at NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield. She was a Vacaville resident for 18 years and a homemaker for 32 years.
Mrs. Francis is survived by her husband, Lee of Vacaville; daughters, Linda K. Nunn of Paradise and Jacqueline June LaDuke of Freeland, Mich.; sisters, Viola Wilson of Lincoln, Neb., and Evelyn Baker of Bowie, Md.; brother, Don Bodfield of Lincoln; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Henry E. Garcia
A funeral for Henry E. Garcia of Napa will be held at 6 p.m. today at Treadway & Wigger Funeral Chapel and Crematory in Napa. The Rev. Timothy O'Sullivan of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church will officiate. Visitation will be held at 4 p.m.
Born on Nov. 9, 1927, in Donna, Texas, to Rodolfo and Bibiana Ovalle Garcia, Mr. Garcia died April 4, 2000, at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Vallejo after a lengthy illness.
While living in Texas, Mr. Garcia helped his family pick cotton and harvest fruit. He came to California in the late 1930s and began working at Young Ranch in north Napa as a property manager. He later affiliated with the Laborer's Union and was employed for many years at Modern Plumbing. He simultaneously owned and operated his own rototilling business.
After retiring, Mr. Garcia enjoyed tinkering and being a jack-of-all-trades, helping friends and family alike with his skills. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family, attending social functions and the movies, and in his earlier years he enjoyed riding his horse Black Beauty in the west Napa Hills and the redwoods.
He once adopted two orphaned fawns, which he named Bambi and Tinkerbell. After raising them to adulthood, he released them back into the wild.
One of his favorite pastimes, however, was driving throughout many of California's agricultural areas and mountains, reminiscing about the hours he spent as a boy working on Texas farms. He also enjoyed wood carving.
Mr. Garcia is survived by his son, Felix of Napa; sisters, Virginia Albeny of Downey, Agripina Pickle and Yolanda Cimmino, both of Fairfield, Rose Tice of Vacaville, Mary Dinov of Napa and Matilda of Lodi; brothers, Perfecto "Pete" and Rudy, both of Napa; grandchildren, Michelle Lee, Gabriel Dion, Jesse Allen and Craig Louis, all of Napa; and four great-grandchildren.

Frances Giaquinto
A Mass for Frances Giaquinto, 86, will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at Nativity Catholic Church in Torrance. A rosary will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes beside her beloved husband, who was a Pearl Harbor survivor.
Mr. Giaquinto died April 2, 2000, in Vacaville after a short illness.
A fun-loving person who wouldn't pass up an opportunity to place a friendly wager on anything from golf to football, Mrs. Giaquinto loved sports, church and her family. She worked for the city attorney's office in Torrance for 22 years. A woman of faith, she was well-educated and liked by all.
Ms. Giaquinto is survived by her daughters, Karen Gardner of Turlock and Jeannie Liefer of Suisun City; son, Nick of Vacaville; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
