Betty L. Garcia

A Catholic Prayer Service will be held for Betty L. Garcia, 76, of Fairfield at 10 a.m. Thursday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

The Rev. Luciano Valenzuela of Holy Spirit Catholic Church will preside.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. today with a rosary at 7 p.m. in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Inurnment will be in Fairmont Memorial Park.

Mrs. Garcia died April 18, 2000, in her home after a long illness.

Born Feb. 10, 1924, in Breckenridge, Minn., she lived in Fairfield for 22 years. She was a homemaker for 55 years.

Mrs. Garcia is survived by her husband of 55 years, Carlo of Fairfield; sons, Ronald James and Gary, both of Fairfield; sister, Frances Dunham of New Brighten, Minn.; brothers, Ronald Crepps of Fargo, N.D., and Donald Crepps of Minneapolis; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Linda Ann Herbaugh

Memorial services for Linda Ann Herbaugh, 49, of Vacaville will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Vaca Hills Chapel. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Herbaugh died April 16, 2000, in her home after a short illness.

Born Feb. 22, 1951, in Riverside, she moved to the area 16 years ago. She was a homemaker for 33 years.

Mrs. Herbaugh loved her family and enjoyed the ocean and horses.

Mrs. Herbaugh is survived by her husband, Jim of Vacaville; daughters, Tisha, Erina and Amber, all of Vacaville; daughters and sons-in-law, Aleva and Walter Walker and Dorisa and Vincent Mothersbaugh, all of Vacaville; mother, Annabelle Pickett of Riverside; brother, Melvin William Pickett of Palm Desert; and grandchildren, Dalton James and Scarlett Rose Walker, both of Vacaville.

Alvin 'Curly' LaCroix

A funeral for Alvin 'Curly' LaCroix, 75, of Fairfield will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Fairmont Memorial Park. Pastor Bob Lewis will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Thursday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. Entombment will be in Fairmont Memorial Park.

Mr. LaCroix died April 17, 2000, in his home after a short illness.

Born June 19, 1924, in Muskogee, Okla., he lived in Fairfield for 52 years. He served in World War II and Korea in the U.S. Navy. He worked for Pacific Tel&Tel for 35 years before the company became Pacific Bell. He was a member of the Fairfield Moose Lodge No. 861, the National Rifleman's Association and the Telephone Pioneers of America.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Mr. LaCroix is survived by his wife, Imogene of Fairfield, daughters, Diana of Sacramento and Marilyn Powell of Fairfield; son, Ronald of Fairfield; sister, Camille Eeds of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 1652 W. Texas St., Fairfield, 94533.

Carl William Schmidt

Graveside services for Carl William Schmidt, 86, of Vacaville will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Inurnment will be in Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mr. Schmidt died April 12, 2000, in VacaValley Hospital after a short illness.

Born March 24, 1914, in Coffeyville, Kan., he moved to the area 36 years ago. He was senior master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force for 39 years before his military retirement. He was a 'pro' manager for the Arbuckle Golf Course and was a member of the senior Professional Golf Association tour.

Mr. Schmidt is survived by his wife, Genoveva of Vacaville; and sister, Mildred Chambers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an individual's favorite charity.

Arrangements are being handled by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Walter Eugene Henderson

Graveside services for Walter Eugene Henderson, 88, of Vacaville will be 11 a.m. Friday at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. Vicar Eric Skovgaard will officiate. Interment will follow.

Mr. Henderson died on April 15, 2000, in VacaValley Hospital after a brief illness.

Born on Nov. 20, 1911, in Miller, S.D., he lived in Vacaville for 15 years. He travelled by covered wagon in 1913 to Montana, where he spent a portion of his life. He retired from Cashmen Equipment Co. of Reno in 1976. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose for more than 25 years. He was also a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Vacaville.

Mr. Henderson is survived by his nine children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine, on June 1, 1997.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, 621 S. Orchard Ave., Vacaville, 95688.

Arrangements are being handled by Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Richard Paul Borlek

A funeral is pending for Richard Paul Borlek, 77, of Vacaville. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Borlek died April 15, 2000, in Vacaville after a brief illness.

Born March 29, 1923, in Chicago, he lived in Vacaville since 1965. He joined the Army Air Corp. in 1941 and retired from the United States Air Force in 1973. Before transferring to Travis as a logistics planner in 1965, he was a gunner on B-17s and a chief engineer on test aircraft at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He was credited with shooting down an enemy fighter from his waist gunner position during one of his 26 combat missions flown aboard B-17s during World War II. He also flew many flights during the Berlin Airlift.

He was a charter and lifetime member of the Big V Showboat Barbershop Chorus of Vacaville since 1967, SPEBSQSA Inc. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Vacaville and the Loyal Order of the Moose for a number of years.

Mr. Borlek enjoyed singing with the barbershop chorus and competing in singing at national barbershop competitions, singing for local groups and spending time with his family.

Mr. Borlek is survived by his wife, Kathryn; daughters, Terri Rogers and Lori Nunley, both of Vacaville; brother, Dennis of Oregon; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bob of Chicago, and his first wife, Juanita, to whom he was married for 42 years and who was the mother of Terri and Lori.

The family prefers that contributions in Mr. Borlek's memory be made to: Heartspring, care of Harmony Foundation, 6315 Third Ave., Kenosha, Wis., 53143-5199.

Arrangements are being handled by McCune Garden Chapel.

Marianne L. Brown

At her request, there will be no services held for Marianne L. Brown, 82, of Vacaville. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Brown died April 14, 2000, in Vacaville after a brief illness.

Born Jan. 31, 1918, in Traverse City, Mich., she lived in Vacaville for 30 years. She was a homemaker her entire adult life. She lived in Leisure Town and was active in the Saturday Club and the Slim and Trim Club.

Mrs. Brown enjoyed reading and was an avid walker.

Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband of 58 years, Edmund of Vacaville; daughter and son-in-law, Gennifer and Craig Malzahn of Sacramento; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Frances of Huntington Beach; son, Jeff of Cypress; and grandchildren, Scott and Steve Malzahn, both of Sacramento, and Emily, J.J. and Jared, all of Cypress.

Arrangements were handled by McCune Garden Chapel.

Lenora Esther Hickman

A memorial service for Lenora Esther Hickman, 71, of Vacaville will be 5 p.m. Friday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. The family will conduct the memorial service during the visitation. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Hickman died on April 15, 2000, in Vacaville after a short illness.

Born on March 22, 1929, in Mississippi, she lived in Vacaville for 23 years. She worked for the U.S. Civil Service for 45 years, serving as a supervisor of purchasing at Mare Island as her last position.

Mrs. Hickman is survived by her daughters, Angela Daniel of Suisun, Phyllis Key of Vacaville, Krishelle Wisham of Sparta, Ill., and Carolyn of East St. Louis, Ill.; son, Robert of Vacaville; brother, Admiral Jefferson of Hawaii; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Emandaline 'Manda' Kelley

A funeral for Emandaline 'Manda' Kelley, 47, of Spokane, Wash., will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church in Spokane. The Rev. C.W. Andrews will officiate. Interment will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home in Spokane.

Mrs. Kelley died on April 1, 2000.

Born on July 26, 1952, in Vallejo, she lived on Travis Air Force Base from 1980 to 1996, before returning to Spokane, where she also spent part of her childhood. She worked as a cook at the youth center on Travis Air Force Base.

Mrs. Kelley is survived by her sons, John C. Jr. and Jason T., both of Spokane; their father, John of Fairfield; parents, Manuel and Emelda Brown of Spokane; brothers, Manuel Brown III of Issaquah, Wash., and the Rev. Dwan Brown and Timothy 'T.C.' Brown, both of Spokane; sister, Inez Chubb of Spokane; and uncle, John Toomer. She also is survived by numerous other uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews and the Vance Kelley family.

Richard Howe Mossman

At his request, there will be no services held for Richard Howe Mossman, 84, of Vacaville. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Mossman died April 17, 2000, at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Vallejo after a long illness.

Born Oct. 19, 1915, in Buffalo, N.Y., he moved to the area 14 years ago. He worked as a private constructions contractor for 25 years.

Mr. Mossman enjoyed water-skiing and golfing. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Mr. Mossman is survived by his wife, Peggy of Vacaville; daughters, Marion Dutra of Brentwood and Kathy Koski of Rohnert Park; sons, Harold of Vacaville and Steven Koski of Lindsey, Okla.; and grandchildren, Lacey and Kyle, Monique, Ashley and Teanna Koski, Christie Dutra and Renea, Patricia and Evan Morgensen.

Arrangements were handled by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Theresa Trujillo Schaeffer

A memorial service for Theresa Trujillo Schaeffer, 50, of Vallejo will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Twin Chapels. Interment will be private.

Mrs. Shaeffer died peacefully at home on April 15, 2000, surrounded by her loved ones, following a nine-month battle with cancer.

A Vallejo native, Mrs. Schaeffer worked at Genesis Hair Salon in Vacaville for the last seven years. She enjoyed the ocean, traveling, crafts, home decorating, hosting parties, life and making others smile. She will be missed for her random acts of kindness and for doing ordinary things in an extraordinary way.

Mrs. Schaeffer is survived by her husband, Ron; stepdaughter, Theresa Castorena of San Mateo; stepson, Rick Castorena and his wife, Tracei, of Vallejo; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Richard Gallegos of Albuquerque, N.M., Veronica Tiny Tosh of Vallejo and Dayna and Larry Glenn of Vacaville; brother, Paul Trujillo of Vacaville; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pablo and Dominga Trujillo, and brother, Michael Trujillo.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday at the mortuary.

Gregory Scott Williams

A funeral for Gregory Scott Williams, 45, of Utah was held Wednesday in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Interment will be at American Fork Cemetery.

Mr. Williams died on April 14, 2000.

Born on Aug. 17, 1954, he was a former Vacaville resident. He served faithfully in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout his life.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Sue; children, Amie, Scott, Katie and Lindsay; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Richard LaPointe and Sharyn and Paul Ellis; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Marilyn, LaMar and Lois, Ron and Gloria and Mark and Patti. He was preceded in death by his father, George Leonard.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Williams family; the contributions are being accepted at any Bank of American Fork branch.
