Carol Diane Iverson

An open house in memory of Carol Diane Iverson, 57, of Vacaville, will be held at a yet-to-be-scheduled date in Vacaville and Glendale.

Mrs. Iverson will be inurned at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Hollywood Hills.

Born April 3, 1943, in Chicago, Mrs. Iverson died April 28, 2000, in her Vacaville home after a sudden illness.

She moved to the Vacaville-Fairfield area 21 years ago.

She worked in the medical field for 30 years.

She brought joy, light, music and laughter to all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Dave, and son, Tim, of Vacaville; uncle, Clifford Carlson of Glendale; cousins, Sandra Kaumaya of Lakewood; Carl Nelson of Chicago; sisters-in-friendship, Sandra Ireland of Glendale; Lunne Almstrom of Vacaville, and many other close and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Molly and Carl Carlson.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association, 817 Missouri St., No. 4, Fairfield, 94533, or to the National Wildlife Federation, 8925 Leesburg Pike, Vienna, Va., 22184.

Ted Malone Kamp

Memorial services for Ted Malone Kamp, 64, of Placerville were held at Fairmont Memorial Park in Fairfield. The Rev. Dennis Reynolds of Assembly of God Church in Brentwood officiated. Inurnment was private.

Born Jan. 23, 1936, in Tulsa, Okla., Mr. Kamp died April 28, 2000, in Fairfield.

A resident of Placerville for four years, Mr. Kamp lived in Vallejo from 1962 to 1994. He worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard as an instructor in quality control classes for 38 years.

Mr. Kamp volunteered for eight years with the Mobile Missionary Assistance Program, which rebuilds churches, orphanages and church camps. He was a member of Christian Life Center in Pollock Pines.

Mr. Kamp is survived by his wife, Wanda of Placerville; daughter, Cynthia Mason of Belfair, Wash.; sons, Philip of Fairfield and Bruce and Jeff, both of Bremerton, Wash.; brother, Frank of Eufaula, Okla.; sister, Leah Wallen of Slidel, La.; 13 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Mobile Missionary Assistance Program, P.O. Box 725, Calimesa, 92320-0725.

Arrangements were under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Shirley Ann Hoffman Bruce

Services for Shirley Ann Hoffman Bruce, 67, of Vacaville will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at McNary Chapel, 458 College St., Woodland.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McNary's Chapel.

Born Sept 5, 1932 in Sedalia, Mo., to the late William and Addie Owen Hoffman, Mrs. Bruce died May 1, 2000, at home.

A resident of Solano County for 25 years, Mrs. Bruce recently retired from the Travis Base Exchange after 22 years of service. She loved to spend time with family and friends, and enjoyed gardening and caring for the several cats that had adopted her. She also enjoyed attending the Renaissance Pleasure Faire as well as other local festivals.

Mrs. Bruce is survived by her daughter, Anita of Vacaville; daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Ted Hundley of Woodland; son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Debra of Woodland; grandchildren, Jason and Eric Hundley and Justin and Jennifer Bruce, all of Woodland; sisters, Faye Mohs and her husband, Bill, of Chico and Juanita Finnell; brothers, Martin Lee Hoffman of Huntington Beach, Robert Hoffman and his wife, Nellie, of West Lost Angeles and Jim Webster and his wife, Jinx, of Oroville; and numerous great-aunts, great-uncles, nieces and nephews.

She was preceeded in death by her husband, Dean.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to a local chapter of the Arthritis Foundation.

Louis Fulton

A memorial service for Louis Fulton, 72, of Vacaville will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Rotunda in the Leisure Town Home Owners' Association Building at 100 Sequoia Way.

The Rev. John Duncan of Grace Episcopal Church in Fairfield will officiate.

Born Sept. 10, 1928, in Atchison, Kan., Mr. Fulton died April 28, 2000, while on vacation with his wife, Catherine, in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

He moved to Vacaville to be near his family after retiring as vice president of Workload Temporary Employment Agency Inc. in New Orleans, La.

He attended St. John's Military Academy in Salina, Kan., the University of Houston and Rice University, where he excelled in athletics.

He also played football and basketball for the special services of the U.S. Air Force in the Pacific during the occupation of Japan.

An avid sports fan, Mr. Fulton was an active golfer, pool player, fisherman. He also loved to play bridge. He was a member of the Vacaville Elks Lodge No. 2638. He was very active in Episcopal church programs.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine of Vacaville; brother and sister-in-law, John and Maxine of Breckenridge, Mo.; daughter and son-in-law, Catharine and Mike Boles Sr. of Vacaville; grandson, Michael Jr. and his wife, Christina; and granddaughter, Elizabeth of Vacaville.

Hannolore 'Lore' Guffey

A memorial service for Hannolore 'Lore' Guffey, 57, of Suisun will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Parkway Community Church, 2397 Heath Drive, Fairfield. Mrs. Guffey's son Ron will officiate.

Inurnment will be private.

Born Dec. 28, 1942, in Weissenhorn, Germany, Mrs. Guffey died May 1, 2000, at David Grant Medical Center in Fairfield.

A Suisun resident for 20 years, Mrs. Guffey was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Guffey is survived by her husband, Charles of Suisun; sons, Ronald of Fairfield and James of Suisun; sisters, Ericka Czernin, Hilda Seldler and Lydia Mannsbert, all of Senden, Germany; and five grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lupus Foundation, 4200 Prospect Drive, Carmichael, 95608, or to the American Cancer Society, 1652 W. Texas St., No. 110, Fairfield, 94533.

Arrangements are being handled by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Robert L. Harper

A funeral for Robert L. Harper, 71, of Vacaville will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 311 Alamo Drive, Vacaville. Interment will follow at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery in Vacaville.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Born May 19, 1928, in Santa Cruz, Mr. Harper died May 1, 2000, at his Vacaville home after a sudden heart attack.

A Vacaville resident for most of his life, Mr. Harper served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He began his career in law enforcement as a police officer for Humboldt County and the city of Vacaville. He also was an assistant fire chief at California Medical Facility, where he worked for 45 years before retiring in 1990. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he enjoyed camping and fishing.

Mr. Harper is survived by his wife of 49 years, Betty of Vacaville; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and David Mosher of Fairfield; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Joleen of Draper, Utah; five grandchildren, Erik, Kevin, Beth and Tyler, all of Draper, and Haley Mosher of Fairfield; and brother, Merrill of California.

He was preceeded in death by his son, Robert 'Bobby' Stephen Harper.

Arrangements are being handled by McCune Garden Chapel.

Julius Dean Lacy II

A funeral for Julius Dean Lacy II, 40, of Fairfield and Sacramento will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. O.C. Cooper will officiate.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at Solano Valley Mortuary.

Burial will be in Rockville Cemetery.

Born April 10, 1960, in San Mateo, Mr. Lacy died April 27, 2000, after a long illness.

A Fairfield and Sacramento resident for 12 years, Mr. Lacy worked as a salesman for various companies.

Mr. Lacy is survived by his wife, Lisa of Sacramento; daughters, Syreeta, Kamiah and Danielle, all of Fairfield; sons, Julius III, Aarian and Brandon, all of Fairfield; mother, Johnnie J. Boyd of Fairfield; father, Julius of East Palo Alto; sisters, Deborah Walton and Beverly Pringle, both of Fairfield; brothers, Ronnie Alexander and Donald Poston, both of Texas, John Walton of Fairfield and Troy Henderson of East Palo Alto; and four grandchildren.

He was preceeded in death by his grandparents, Drusilla and the Rev. L. Robinson.

James L. Nation, 48

A memorial service for James L. Nation, 48, of Fairfield will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall, 1651 Sunset Ave., Fairfield. Brother Victor Woods will officiate.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at Solano Valley Mortuary.

Burial will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Born Jan. 15, 1952, in Jasper, Texas, Mr. Nation died April 26, 2000.

A Fairfield resident for 10 years, Mr. Nation was a stationary engineer at California State University, Sacramento, for 10 years.

Mr. Nation is survived by his wife, Sharon of Fairfield; parents, Mary of Jasper and Olivia of Fort Worth, Texas; sisters, Alice Faye Dixson of Norfolk, Va., Stacy of Dallas and Anna of Jasper; brothers, Ronald and Mark, both of Fort Worth, David Jeffreis and Tony, both of Sacramento, and Christopher and Terrence, both of Jasper.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Alvin.

Anita Shaffer

A memorial service for Anita Shaffer, 80, of Vacaville will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, 1850 W. Texas St., Fairfield. Inurnment will be private.

Born Feb. 21, 1920, in Berkeley, Mrs. Shaffer died April 30, 2000, at VacaValley Hospital after a long illness.

A Vacaville resident for two years, Mrs. Shaffer previously lived in Fairfield for eight years and in Richmond and Pinole, each for 18 years. She worked for the Richmond School District as a cafeteria worker for 14 years, and was a homemaker for 55 years.

Mrs. Shaffer is survived by her husband of 55 years, William of Vacaville; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Catherine of Benicia and Robert and Jacqueline of Richmond; sisters, Florence Sandretto of El Cerrito and Edith Devight of Berkeley; and grandsons, Matthew and Ryan, both of Benicia.

Memorial contributions may be made to Children's Hospital of Oakland, 747 52nd St., Oakland, 94609.

Arthur John Thyrring

A funeral for Arthur John Thyrring, 78, of Fairfield will be held 5 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2075 Dover Ave., Fairfield.

The Rev. Martin Bergstrom will officiate.

Interment will be in San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine.

Born May 28, 1921, in New York City, Mr. Thyrring died April 29, 2000, at Laurel Creek Estates in Fairfield.

He was a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served for 22 years. He retired from the Marine Corps on Aug. 31, 1961. He later worked for 10 years for the Lawrence Radiation Lab in Livermore.

He was a member of the Retired Officers' Association and the Amateur Radio Operators Club. His call numbers were N7EHY.

He lived for 24 years in Sequim, Wash., prior to moving to Fairfield.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lucille of Fairfield; daughter, Leora Weignlass of Victorville; sons, Chris of Halcyon and Marc of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church, 2075 Dover Ave., Fairfield, 94533.

Michael 'Muddy' Waters

Private services will be held for Michael 'Muddy' Waters, 49, of Suisun. Inurnment also will be private.

Born Jan. 18, 1951, in West Palm Beach, Fla., Mr. Waters died April 28, 2000, at home after a short illness.

A Suisun resident for 35 years, Mr. Waters worked as a dredgerman at Operating Engineers for four years. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local No. 3.

Mr. Waters is survived by his wife, Cindi of Suisun; daughter, Jennifer Doran of Suisun; son, Neil of Colorado; grandson, James of Colorado; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles in the Fairfield area.

Arrangements are being handled by Fairfield Funeral Home.
