Clara Lehrer

A memorial service for Clara Lehrer, 93, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Sunbridge La Mariposa in Fairfield. Her ashes will be placed in the Gulf of Mexico off Sarasota, Fla.

Mrs. Lehrer died on May 16, 2000, after a long illness.

Born on Sept. 11, 1906, in Long Island, N.Y., she moved to Fairfield from Bradenton, Fla., in 1987. She was a straight-A student through her entire school years and valedictorian of her graduating class. She went on to a teaching career and loved reading and considered her books her friends. She was a member of the Venice Chapter No. 248 Order of the Eastern Star in Venice, Fla., for 50 years.

Mrs. Lehrer is survived by her daughter, Terri Nichols; very loving adopted daughter, Irene Nowicki; grandsons, Richard Nichols of Vacaville, Kenneth Nichols of Fairfield, Jim Nichols of Texas, Richard III of Wisconsin and Robert of New York; granddaughter, Linda Kleinhenz of New York; stepson, Vorhees W. of Bayshore, N.Y.; and nephew, John Schultheis of Walnut Creek. She also has four great-grandchildren, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews in New York.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Heart Disease Foundation, National Office, 50 Court St., 306A, Brooklyn, N.Y., 11201-4801.

Arrangements are being handled by Vaca Hills Chapel.

H. Dean Smith

A funeral for H. Dean Smith, 58, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. Monday at Fairfield Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Pastor Mike McCamey will officiate. Burial with military honors will be at Suisun Fairfield Cemetery in Fairfield.

Mr. Smith died on May 17, 2000, at NorthBay Medical Center after a short illness.

Born on Oct. 25, 1941, in Kent, Wash., he lived in Fairfield for the past 27 years. He worked as a frame technician for Pacific Bell for 19 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1980 as a technical sergeant.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Genevieve of Fairfield; daughters, Linda Brown of Fairfield, Debra Smith and Toni Hagglund, both of Washington, and Cynthia Glosser and Deanna Merritt, both of Fairfield; sons, Harold D. Jr. of Washington, Gordon Tahguechi of Oklahoma City and Kyle Tahguechi of San Francisco; and brothers, Hugh of Bellingham, Wash., and Norman of Las Vegas. He also leaves 11 grandchildren.

Eldo L. Thompson

At the request of the family, a private memorial service will be held for Eldo L. Thompson, 67, of Fairfield. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Thompson died on May 15, 2000, in Fairfield after a short illness.

Born on May 19, 1932, in Tacoma, Wash., he lived in Fairfield for the past 40 years, where he was self-employed as a landscaper. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Bremerton, Wash., and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairfield. He enjoyed working on model airplanes and cars. He also loved pets, especially his dog, Tippy, and loved to travel.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Brenda of Fairfield. He also has two brothers and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews in the Fairfield area.

Richard Michael Houston IV

All services for 5-month-old Richard Michael Houston IV will be private.

Richard died on May 14, 2000, at University of California, Davis, Medical Center in Sacramento.

Born on Dec. 9, 1999, he had lived in Fairfield since his birth.

Richard is survived by his mother, Sharon of Vallejo; brother, Lucas York of Vallejo; sisters, Lisa York and Jasmine, both of Vallejo; grandfather, Richard II of Vallejo; godmother, Sheila Cross of Fairfield; uncles, Darrell of Fairfield and Michael of Houston; aunts, Tequila of Fairfield and Debra of Vallejo; and great-grandmother, Frankie Blair of Vallejo.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to a trust fund memorial c/o Sharon Houston for baby Richard Houston IV at Westamerica Bank, 333 Sunset Ave., Suisun City, 94585.

Arrangements are being handled by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Ollie V. King

A funeral for Ollie V. King, 79, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Monday at McCune Garden Chapel. Stan Sanderson will officiate.

Burial will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. A reception will follow at the McBride Senior Center. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. King died on May 16, 2000.

Born on Jan. 31, 1921, in Shoals, Ind., she lived in Fairfield for the past 47 years. She was a special woman, always there to love and support her family and friends up to the end of her life. She was profiled as one of the Solano Seniors in local newspapers and participated in numerous walk-a-thons in Fairfield and Vacaville, also walking in the San Francisco Bay to Breakers in 1995 and 1996.

She was the coordinator of the Heart to Heart Cardiac Support Group meetings at the Vacaville Senior Center for 14 years until her death and was secretary of the Certified Nurse's Assistant Association from 1982 to 1995. She was on the original resolution for the Fairfield Vision 2020 Neighborhood Prevention task force and was an Alameda County deputy sheriff's reservist from 1961 to 1968. She worked at the Coffee Tree in Vacaville from 1965 to 1979.

Mrs. King is survived by her daughter, Anita King Constantino of Fairfield; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Michael Rees of Fairfield; son and daughter-in-law, Duval and Susan of Santa Rosa; son, Mark of Placerville; grandchildren, Julia of Cameron Park and Sarah Rees of Fairfield; and great-grandchildren, Bridget and Chelsea, both of Cameron Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Cardiology Education Fund, NorthBay Health Care Foundation, 1200 B Gale Wilson Blvd., Fairfield, 94533. Please include a return address for acknowledgement of the donation.

Mattison M. Pavon-Garrido

A funeral for Mattison M. Pavon-Garrido, 29 days old, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in McCune Garden Chapel. Interment will be at the Rockville Cemetery.

The infant died May 17, 2000, in Oakland after a short illness.

Born April 18, 2000, in Fairfield, the baby resided in Vacaville.

Mattison is survived by her parents, Donelle Pavon of Fairfield and Matthew Garrido of Vacaville; brother, Jacob Garrido of Fairfield; maternal grandfather, Douglas Pavon of Pittsburg; paternal grandparents, Grant Garrido of Washington and Jackie Morris of Vallejo; uncle, Peter Garcia of Vacaville; aunts, Charlotte Garcia of Fairfield, Carla Sanchez of Petaluma, Rhonda Costa of Fairfield, Gina Holbrook of Oregon and Tracy Garrido of Vallejo. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Gail Garcia, and an aunt, Brandie Collins.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in McCune Garden Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mattison's name to the Children's Hospital-Oakland, 747 51st St., Oakland, c/o Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery.

Kenneth Ray Greene

Graveside services for Kenneth Ray Greene, 80, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Monday in Silveyville Cemetery.

Pastor Catharine Morris of Dixon United Methodist Church will preside. Burial will be in Silveyville Cemetery.

Mr. Greene died May 16, 2000, in Fairfield after a long illness.

Born Nov. 18, 1919, in Dry Creek, La., he resided in Fairfield. Prior to moving to Fairfield, he lived in Dixon. He worked for AT&T for 37 1/2 years before retiring. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a life member of the Chapter of Silver Sage in Reno, Pyramid Lodge 43, Masonic Lodge in Reno and The Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry of Reno.

Mr. Greene enjoyed golf, hunting and was a ham radio operator (KB60PE).

Mr. Greene is survived by his wife, Luella of Fairfield; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth C. and Diana of Grass Valley, and Richard L. and Nancy of Oceanside; daughter and son-in-law, Terry Ann and Robert Sundance of Rancho Cordova; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements were handled by Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.

William F. 'Tige' Thomsen

William F. 'Tige' Thomsen, lifelong Dixon resident

A funeral for William F. 'Tige' Thomsen, 85, of Dixon, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Dixon Community Church. Pastor Wesley Nordman will preside.

Internment will be at the Silveyville Cemetery in Dixon.

Mr. Thomsen died May 19, 2000, in Davis, after a brief illness.

A lifelong resident of Dixon, Mr. Thomsen was born May 5, 1915, in Dixon. He owned and operated the Tige Shell Service Station in Dixon for 35 years.

Mr. Thomsen was a member of the Dixon Masonic Lodge, Dixon Boat Club, a charter member of the Lions Club, president of the Dixon Historical Society, and president of the Dixon Game Club.

He enjoyed traveling with his wife in their recreational vehicle, fishing and operating a ham radio. He will be remembered as the mechanic who never stopped.

Mr. Thomsen is survived by his wife of 60 years, Greta; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Steven Harnagel of El Dorado Hills; grandchildren, Blythe and Ethan Harnagel of El Dorado Hills; brothers, Elwood of Arizona and J.P. of Vallejo; sister, Ida Van Curen of Dixon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, or Dixon Community Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.

Angelica T. Ortiz

Memorial services for Angelica T. Ortiz, 68, of Fairfield will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. Brother Curtis Kelly of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Sunset Congregation, will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Born April 1, 1932, in Magdalena, N.M., Mrs. Ortiz died May 19, 2000, in Fairfield following an automobile accident.

A prior resident of Vallejo, Mrs. Ortiz worked as an employee of the state of California until retirement from Sonoma State Hospital.

Mrs. Ortiz is survived by her husband, Manuel Ortiz of Fairfield; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Luis Renteria of St. Helena; son, Mitchell Noriega of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Mary Jane Noriega of San Antonio; brother, Max Telles of Fairfield; seven stepchildren in New Mexico; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Robert Patrick Capaldi

A funeral for Robert Patrick Capaldi, 70, of Fairfield will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in First United Pentecostal Church, 1390 E. Tabor Ave., Fairfield.

Pastor David Alvarez will officiate. Burial will be in Oroville Cemetery.

Mr. Capaldi died May 20, 2000, at his home after an illness.

Born Jan. 21, 1930, in Cumberland, Md., he lived in Fairfield for four years. He worked as an licensed vocational nurse for the U.S. Army for 20 years and was a veteran of Korea.

Mr. Capaldi is survived by his wife, Opal of Fairfield; daughter, Karen Bowman of Kaiser, W.Va.; sons, Steven of Burlington, W.Va., Ronnie and Richard, both of Bakersfield, and Bobby of Hanford; stepdaughter, Lori Williams of Coalinga; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. today in Fairfield Funeral Home.

Jorge Ferrer

A service of remembrance will be celebrated for Jorge Ferrer, 69, of Vacaville, at 10 a.m. Friday in Nadeau Family Funeral Home. Interment will be private.

Mr. Ferrer died May 21, 2000, in Vacaville after a sudden illness.

Born Nov. 25, 1930, in Puerto Rico, he resided in Vacaville for 40 years. He had been a water tender employed by Solano Irrigation District for six years. Previously, he had been employed by American Home Foods.

Mr. Ferrer enjoyed and loved the animals he had raised.

Mr. Ferrer is survived by a daughter, Nora Barrett of Vacaville; sons, Andy of Vacaville and George of San Mateo; former wife of 37 years, Theresa of Vacaville; brothers, Ventura of Puerto Rico and Lucas of Florida; sister, Angelina Berrios of Philadelphia, Pa.; and four grandchildren.
