Virginia M. Pardi
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Silveyville Cemetery
for Virginia M. Pardi, 91, of Dixon.
Pastor Wesley Nordman of Dixon Community Church will preside.
Mrs. Pardi died Aug. 6, 2000, in Dixon following a brief illness.
Born Aug. 21, 1908, in Monticello, she had lived in Dixon for many years.
Mrs. Pardi had received a master's degree in social work from the University of California, Berkeley and then worked for the San Francisco County Children's Home until moving back to Dixon in the early 1950s. She then taught in the Dixon elementary schools until she retired in 1960.
She was an active member of the Eastern Star, Dixon Community Church, California Teachers Association and Delta Kappa Gamma, which is an organization for retired teachers.
She is survived by her stepdaughters, Lynne Green of Dixon and Jeanne Pease of Chico; grandchildren, Karen Anderson of Abbottsford, British Columbia, Bill and Lori Kunder of Reno, John and Shelly Pardi of Dixon, Molly and Wayne Bonnington of Port Chicago and Jennifer Green of Dixon; great-grandchildren, Aaron and Jordan Anderson of Abbottsford, Chad and Spencer Kunder of Reno, Jonathan and Ashley Pardi of Dixon, Will and Jack Bonnington of Port Chicago and Sarah Munoz of Dixon.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, 95617.

Bill Settgast
At his request, no services will be held for Bill Settgast, 76, of Roseburg, Ore., who died Aug. 13, 2000, at his home.
Burial will take place at a later date in the Roseburg National Veteran's Cemetery.
Mr. Settgast was born April 10, 1924, in Junction City, Kansas.
He was a veteran of World War II serving with the 359th Engineering Regiment of the U.S. Army in the European theater. Upon being honorably discharged, he made his home in Gardena where he met his future wife, Anna Woods. The two were married Feb. 17, 1962, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They made their home in Redondo Beach, where Mr. Settgast had a construction and auto sales business.
In 1973, they moved to Vacaville where they remained until 1993 when they retired and moved to the Green District of Roseburg.
In addition to his wife, Anna, Mr. Settgast is survived by three sisters, Marie Swanson of Roseburg, Betty Early of LaFayette, and Bonnie Baker of Pleasant Hill. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Edna; a brother, Jack; and two sisters, Carolyn Settgast and Alberta Johnson.

Paul Reginald Sobol
A funeral for lifelong Vacaville resident Paul Reginald Sobol will be 10 a.m. Thursday at McCune Garden Chapel.
Burial will be in Elmira Cemetery.
Mr. Sobol died in a fishing accident Aug. 12, 2000, at Lake Berryessa. He was 20.
Mr. Sobol was born in Vallejo on Nov. 17, 1979.
An active athlete, Mr. Sobol participated in varsity basketball at Vanden High School, where he graduated with honors in 1998. He frequently went fishing with his brother, Kevin, and his father, Paul. He also participated in Little League Baseball as a child. He attended Solano Community College and had planned to transfer to the University of California, Davis, next year to pursue a business and finance degree.
Mr. Sobol worked for Providian Finance for two years. Previously, he worked for Roundtable Pizza.
Mr. Sobol is survived by his parents, Paul and Michelle of Vacaville; brother, Kevin of Vacaville; nana, Beverly Bailey; grandmother, Ann Singleton of Eureka; uncles, Mike Bailey of Vacaville, Glenn Singleton of Eureka; uncle and his wife, Jason and Teresa Singleton of Eureka; aunts, Francine Sobol of McKinleyville, Sandra Watson and her husband Martin; cousins, Laurel, Jeremy, Gabe, Sky, Amos, Zachary, Miles, Elizabeth and her husband David Jarnagin, Travis, Trevor, Melanie; fiancee, Alison Wingo of Vacaville; friends, Chris, Calvin, Patrick, Sean, and Tarence.
Visitation is Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at McCune Garden Chapel.
Emilio Cafferata
A Mass of Christian Burial will be recited for Emilio Cafferata, 84, of Vacaville at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vacaville. The Rev. Vincent O'Reilly of St. Joseph's Catholic Church will officiate. Interment will be private.
Mr. Cafferata died Aug. 14, 2000, in his Vacaville home following a long illness.
Born July 6, 1916, in San Francisco, he had lived in the area for 22 years.
Mr. Cafferata was a truck driver for AM Devenizzi for 35 years. He loved hunting, fishing and his garden.
He is survived by his wife, Ida of Vacaville; daughter, Janet Karbone of Vacaville; daughter, Jerry Strickland of Vacaville; grandchildren, David Bianchi of Vacaville, Steven Bianchi of Antioch, Ron Bianchi of Chicago, Kimberly Moreno of Minnesota and Stephanie Karbone of Vacaville; and nine great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. tonight at Vaca Hills Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Leonardo Henry Largo
A funeral for Leonardo Henry Largo, 63, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Chapel One on Travis Air Force Base. Chaplain Don Burnet will officiate. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Solano Valley Mortuary in Fairfield.
Mr. Largo died Aug. 12, 2000, after a long illness.
Born Feb. 26, 1933, in New York, he lived in Vacaville for the past 36 years. He grew up and received his public school education and early religious training in the state of New York. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served from 1950 to 1971. He was an aircraft engineer, flying both piston and jet engine aircraft. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. After retirement from the Air Force, he was employed by Exxon Oil Refinery in Benicia and retired after 17 years of service.
He was a charter member and a past Master of the Stanley Y. Beverly Lodge, No. 108 F&AM (P.H.A.) and gave leadership on the local, state and national levels. He was a 33rd degree Mason and past Commander in Chief of the Veritas Consistory No. 327 A.A.S.R., where he also served as membership committee chairman for the Council of Deliberation for the states of California and Hawaii. He was an honorary potentate of the Alooma Temple No. 212 A.E.A.O.N.M.S. and he was an Auditor for the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of California and Hawaii, Inc.
Mr. Largo is survived by his wife, Marlene of Vacaville; daughter, Sanchez of San Francisco; sister, Geneva Perry of New York; and brother, Alfonso Largo of the Philippines. He also has one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
Lt. Col. Jack H. Palmer
Services for Lt. Col. Jack H. Palmer, 78, of Vacaville will be 11 a.m. Monday at Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home in Auburn. Burial will follow in the New Auburn Cemetery.
Lt. Col. Palmer died Aug. 8, 2000, after a long, hard-fought illness.
Born July 12, 1922, in Oklahoma City, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps the day after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He was a B-24 pilot in the 98th Bomb Group in the 15th Air Force.
Lt. Col. Palmer participated in several high-risk missions on the oil fields of Romania. He was discharged at the end of the war, but served in the reserve. He attended the University of Oklahoma after the war and earned a bachelor's degree later, while serving in the U.S. Air Force.
He responded to the call to serve again in 1951, continuing to participate in the action in Vietnam. During his service, he was assigned to Germany, Alaska, Travis Air Force Base, the Philippines and Vietnam. He retired in 1970 after 23 years of active service and received numerous citations, including the Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters.
After retirement, he continued working as a building inspector for Placer and Contra Costa counties. He was a life member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars and a member of the BPOE Lodge, No. 1691, of Auburn.
Lt. Col. Palmer is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy June of Vacaville; sons, Jack Jr. of Dixon, Michael of Martinez, and Robert of Winters; daughter, Deborah of Sacramento; and daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Sharif Ross of Alturus. He also has three grandsons, a granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Auburn.
Elva Lucille Hutchison
A Celebration of Life for Elva Lucille Hutchison, 69, of Fairfield, will be 2 p.m. Monday, at her residence. All friends are invited. Inurnment will be private.
Mrs. Hutchison died Aug. 14, 2000 in Fairfield after a long illness.
Born April 12, 1931 in Iowa, she lived in Fairfield for 34 years. She owned and operated Swanson's Cleaners in Vacaville, and worked at Orchid Cleaners in Fairfield. She loved fishing, camping and visiting with her neighbors.
Mrs. Hutchison is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Thomas Hau of South Lake Tahoe; son, Edward Lee Proper of Fairfield; and sisters Marybelle Harris and Kathryne E. Delaney, both of Sacramento. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph G. Neuman in 1989 and Harold E. Neuman, earlier this year.

Mayel M. Inwald
Memorial services for Mayel M. Inwald, 71, of Vacaville, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Church.

Mrs. Inwald died Aug. 15, 2000 in her home after a long illness.
Born Aug. 26, 1928 in Switzerland, she moved to the area 18 years ago. She was a registered nurse for 40 years who worked 12 years with Intercommunity Hospital. She was an avid golfer.
Mrs. Inwald is survived by her best friends, Heide Trupe of Vacaville and Suzette Clement of Fairfield. In addition, she is survived by family and friends in Switzerland and Australia.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church building fund or a donor's favorite charity.

Leroy B. Jackson
Funeral arrangements for Leroy B. Jackson, 71, of Fairfield are pending, but will be held in Clifton, N.J. Burial will be at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, N.J.
Mr. Jackson died Aug. 17, 2000, at his home in Fairfield.
Born Feb. 12, 1929, in New Jersey, he lived in Fairfield for the past five years. He was self-employed as a bus driver for 50 years before retiring. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 206 in Westwood, N.J.
Mr. Jackson is survived by his daughters, Linda Thomas of Patterson, N.J., Doretha of Englewood, N.J., Stephanie of Patterson, N.J., and Debra Meekins of Westwood, N.J.; sons, Bryant of Suisun and Tyrone of Berkeley; sisters, Marion Brown and Marjorie Scott, both of Westwood, N.J.; and brother, Roger of Westwood, N.J. He also has 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Lucille D. Ryan
At the request of Lucille D. Ryan, 86, of Fairfield, there will be no services. Inurnment will be private in San Joaquin National Cemetery.
Mrs. Ryan died Aug. 17, 2000 in her home after a long illness.
Born Nov. 2, 1914 in Washington, she lived in Fairfield for the past four years. She worked as a bookkeeper in her own business her with her husband at Ryan Distributing for 35 years. She was an avid golfer, loved horse races and Reno trips. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Mrs. Ryan is survived by her daughter, Kathleen of Fairfield; grandson, Thomas Schildmeyer of Rocklin; granddaughter, Debra Chamberlain of Sacramento; great-grandchildren, Mary Kate and Madelyn Schildmeyer of Rocklin, and Ryan and Chase Chamberlain of Sacramento. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Ryan, in 1996.

Dominga Redilla Vergara
A Mass of Christian Burial for Dominga Redilla Vergara, 77, of Fairfield, will start 10 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Fairfield.

Mrs. Vergara died Aug. 15, 2000 in NorthBay Medical Center after a long illness.
Born Dec. 11, 1922 in Leyte, Philippine Islands, she lived in Fairfield for 46 years. She worked at Travis Air Force Base as a food service worker at the Terminal for 20 years. She retired in 1985. She was a homemaker for 42 years. She was a member of Legion of Mary, local Filipino organizations and long time member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Mrs. Vergara is survived by her daughter, Dolores of Antioch; son and daughter-in-law, Victor and Jirawan of Tucson, Ariz.; sons, Rudy of Sacramento and Gilbert of Fairfield; sisters, Florentina Florendo of Fairfield and Coreta De Lima of Philippine Islands; brothers, Leonilo Redilla, Felipe Redilla and Pioquinto Redilla, all of Philippine Islands. She was preceded in death by her husband, Genaro in 1996.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.
Paul Burton Stroud
Funeral services for Paul Burton Stroud, 35, of Woodland will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Milton Carpenter Funeral Home. Interment will be at Silveyville Cemetery
in Dixon.
Born March 17, 1965 in Stockton, Mr. Stroud died Aug. 16, 2000 in Vacaville after a sudden illness.
He was a resident of Woodland for 15 years and worked as a welder for West State Welding in Woodland, Radiator Specialties in Sacramento and most recently for Altec in Dixon. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and was politically active with conservative Christian groups.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and will be remembered as a devoted father and family man.
Mr. Stroud is survived by his daughters, Erika and Stephanie of Woodland; mother, Rosie Canerday of Vacaville; father, James Stroud of California; sister, Carol Noel of Oregon; and brothers, Ron Fuson of Oregon and Tom Stroud of Grass Valley.
Arrangements are with Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.
