Delta Rafael Platon

A Mass of Christian Burial for Delta Rafael Platon, 73, of Suisun will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield. Interment will be at Suisun Fairfield Cemetery. Visitations will be 5-9 p.m. today and 4-9 p.m. Sunday and Monday at the Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Platon died Aug. 18, 2000, at her son's home in Suisun after a long illness.

Born Nov. 24, 1926, in Manila, the Philippines, she lived in Suisun for three weeks after having lived in Newport News, Va., for 20 years. She was a dedicated homemaker her entire life and extended her love, life and faith to everyone around her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Platon is survived by her husband of 47 years, Pablo T. of Suisun, and her 14 children and their spouses, 41 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two sisters and five brothers.

She also has a host a relatives and friends throughout the Philippines, California, Virginia, New Jersey and Papua, New Guinea.

James William Choate

At the request of James William Choate, 79, of Suisun, there will be no services. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Choate died Aug. 16, 2000 in NorthBay Medical Center after a short illness.

Born April 25, 1921 in White Bluff, Tenn., he lived in Suisun for 21 years. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945, serving in the Alaskan waters. He was a carpenter in San Francisco for G. Carraro & Son for over 40 years, and a member of Portola Dad's Club of San Francisco and the Carpenters Local 2122 in San Francisco.

Mr. Choate is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy J. of Suisun; sons and daughter-in-laws, James and Lusia Douglas of Rodeo and David and Sharon Imrie of San Jose; sisters, Stella Mae Ware and Mary Louise Hooper, both of Dickson, Tenn.; brothers, Howard of Duck Hill, Miss., and Raymond of White Bluff, Tenn.; four grandsons; two granddaughters and 2 great-grandsons.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Building Fund, 2700 Dover Ave., Fairfield 94533 or donors favorite charity. Arrangements were handled by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Mary Alice Chatman

Fairfield resident Mary Alice Chatman, 75, died on Saturday after battling a lengthy 6-year illness.

Ms. Chatman was born in Plano Texas on Nov. 10, 1924. Visitations for Ms. Chatman will be held at Bryan-Baker Funeral Home on West Texas Street in Fairfield on Wednesday, 5-9 p.m.

Funeral services will be Thursday at the Bryan-Baker Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. She will be entombed at the Fairmont Memorial Park.

Ms. Chatman worked as a ward clerk at the Kaiser Foundation Hospital in San Francisco and Parkland and Presbyterian Hospitals in Dallas, Texas.

She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and sightseeing, and was a member of the Booker T. Washington Alumni in Dallas.

Ms. Chatman is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Johnny L. and Mary L. Chatman of Fairfield; son, Stephan Chatman of Dallas; and son and daughter-in-law Mark D. and Patricia J. Chatman of Fairfield; her sister Katie Williams of Dallas; her 10 grandchildren; her 10 great-grandchildren; her neices: Peggy Jimmerson, Joyce Hayle, Billye Neil Williams and Alma June Eaton all of Dallas; and her nephews: Eric Paul Eaton of Dallas, Vincent Eaton of Indiana and Joseph Eaton Jr. of Dallas.

Mary Meredith Hawley

A private inturnment will be held at the Bryan-Baker Funeral Home for 12-year Fairfield resident Mary Meredith Hawley.

Ms. Hawley, 95, passed away on Wednesday at Laurel Creek. She was born in Danville, Penn. on August 13, 1905.

Ms. Hawley was preceeded in death by her husband, Hobart Hawley, in 1966. She worked with her husband at his buisness Hawley's Interior Decorating in Pennsylvania for 20 years as an assistant decorator.

She also volunteered at Lankenau Hospital in Pennsylvania for 20 years. Ms. Hawley was a loving mother and grandmother, who loved reading, knitting, crossword puzzles and playing cards with her family.

Ms. Hawley is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nan and Luke Roy of Fairfield; her grandchildren Glenn Roy of Roseville and Lynda Bloxsom of Antioch; and her great-grandchildren Megan Roy of Roseville, and Lottie, Laurna, Lyndsay and Lucas Bloxsom of Antioch.

Vanessa Randall Hill

Longtime Vacaville resident and registered nurse Vanessa Randall Hill, 52, died at her home on Monday after a short period of illness.

No formal funeral services will be held at her request.

Ms. Hill was born on April 23, 1948 in El Paso, Texas.

She worked as a registered nurse for 25 years at the VacaValley Hospital in Vacaville. She enjoyed being with her family and friends and was a tremendous fan of the San Francisco Giants professional baseball club.

She also enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening and her pets.

Ms. Hill is survived by her parents Leonard and Ruth Hill of Carson City, Nev.; her brother and sister-in-law Michael and Maryann Hill also of Carson City, Nev.; Her sister Victoria Sales of Seattle, Wash.; her brother and sister-in-law Leonard and Paula Hill of Boise, Idaho; her nephews Justin Hill of Boise, Idaho, Ryan Sales of Seattle, Wa., Aaron Sales of Hawaii, Joshua and Jared Hill of Carson City; her niece Ashley Hill of Carson City; her aunt and uncle Ralph and Karmel Tate of Davis and her nephew Milton Tate and his wife Gay also of Davis.

Arrangements are being made by the Nadeau Family Funeral Home in Vacaville.

Rita Verna Paraiso

Former Dixon resident Rita Verna Paraiso, 83, died on Saturday in Davis.

Born on Sept. 22, 1916 in Collinsville, Ill., Ms. Verna worked as a waitress for 35 years at Bickford's Restaurant in New York City before retiring to California. She lived in Dixon for three years before moving to Davis.

She leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law Michael and Mary Ann Paraiso, son, Gerald Graham, all of New York City; daughter and son-in-law Marlene and City Councilman Gil Vega, of Dixon; daughter and son-in-law Eileen and Ralphael Santana of Victorville; her brother, Joseph Wilson and sister, Adele Starnes, both of Prescott, Arizona; grandchildren: Michael, Debera and Troy Paraiso and Mary Ann Martineck, all of New York; Gilbert Benito and Pedro Geraldo Vega of Dixon; Teresa, Raphael and Tomas Santana of Victorville; and great-grandchildren: Delia Matias, Jennifer, Patricia, Mary Ann Martineck and Troy Paraiso Jr. all of New York; and Greg and Taryn Goomishian of Hayward.

Visitation of Ms. Paraiso will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 23 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 8 p.m. at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.

A mass of Christian burial will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Peters Catholic Church in Dixon, with Father Maurice O'Brien presiding.

Ms. Paraiso enjoyed playing bingo.

John Guillen Cortez

At his request, no public services will be held for John Guillen Cortez, 62, of Vacaville. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Cortez died Aug. 18, 2000, at VacaValley Hospital after a sudden illness.

Born Aug. 8, 1938, in Spain, he lived in Vacaville for the past 52 years. He worked for American Foods for 19 years. He was an avid sports fan who loved baseball, football, gardening, singing and enjoying his family.

Mr. Cortez is survived by his mother, Dolores of Vacaville; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Chris Plowman of Dixon; sisters, Lola Bowman of Foster City, Hope Deeming of Vacaville, Rose Marie Lindsey of Vacaville, and Linda Cortez of Carmichael; brother, Tony of Vacaville and Chris of Hawaii; and grandchildren, Meghan and Zachary Plowman of Dixon.

Arrangements are being handled by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Millie 'Muddie' Edmiston

A memorial service for Millie 'Muddie' Edmiston, 94, of Fairfield will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Edmiston died Aug. 16, 2000, at NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield after a short illness.

Born May 9, 1906, in Wapello, Iowa, she lived in Fairfield for the past 25 years. She worked as a federal employee at March Air Force Base in Riverside for 22 years before retiring in 1972 and moving to Fairfield three years later. She was very active in the Sierra Club for more than 40 years. She was very involved in the club's hiking program. She was very active with Meals on Wheels and was awarded the outstanding service award in 1988.

Mrs. Edmiston is survived by her daughter, Cleo Archibald of Suisun; grandchildren, Sue Bauer of Fairfield, Gary Liefer of Capitola, Randy Liefer of Davis, David Liefer of Suisun, Catherine Chandler of Suisun, Robert Woode of Morro Bay and Lisa Otero of Fresno; and great-grandchildren, Jed Bauer of Fairfield, Cara Chandler of Suisun, Heather Woode of Morro Bay and Carol Woode of Morro Bay. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Arlys Herbaugh; son, Mike Woode; and grandson, Steve Bauer.

George C. Elliott

No services will be held for George C. Elliott, 86, of Fairfield. Inurnment will be at Newell Burying Ground in South Atteboro, Mass.

Mr. Elliott died Aug. 20, 2000, at Laurel Creek Healthcare after a long illness.

Born March 12, 1914, in North Atteboro, Mass., he lived in Fairfield for the past four years. He worked for the city of North Atteboro Police Department for 40 years, retiring as a lieutenant. He was an active life member of Old Town First Congregational Church in Atteboro, serving as treasurer for more than 50 years and deacon emeritus. He was former store manager and accountant for the Firestone Store in Atteboro. He was past president of the Rotary Club, member of the Eastern Star and a Masonic member.

Mr. Elliott is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mavis of Fairfield; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Anita of Suisun; and grandson, Christopher of Suisun.

Arrangements are being handled by Fairfield Funeral Home.

William J. Flood Jr.

At his request, all services for William J. Flood Jr., 82, of Vacaville will be private. Interment will be in Pollock Pines.

Mr. Flood died Aug. 21, 2000, at his son's home in Pollock Pines after a long illness.

Born July 6, 1918, in Little Falls, N.Y., he lived in Vacaville for the past year after moving from Cokeville, Wyo. He worked as a welder for 25 years with the U.S. Navy before retiring.

Mr. Flood is survived by his wife of 38 years, Irene M. of Vacaville; and sons, William John Flood of Pollock Pines and Richard of California. He also has two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Robert Joseph Nunes Jr.

A memorial service for Robert Joseph Nunes Jr., 32, of Vacaville will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Nunes died Aug. 19, 2000, in Vallejo after a short illness.

Born Sept. 24, 1967, in San Pablo, he lived in Vacaville for the past 28 years.

Mr. Nunes is survived by his parents, Robert J. and Sharon of Vacaville; grandfather, Ted of Vallejo; sister, Ashley of Vacaville; brothers, Todd of Los Angeles, and Trevor and Shane of Vacaville; aunts, Barbara Hayes of Vacaville and Shirley Fosnot of Red Bluff; and uncle, Bobby Coons of Vacaville.

Flora Souza

A Mass of the Resurrection for Flora Souza, 90, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield. The Rev. Michael Downey will officiate. Interment will follow at the Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery Catholic Section. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church, with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Souza died Aug. 21, 2000, at her home in Fairfield after a brief illness.

Born Feb. 13, 1910, in Puununae, Hawaii, she lived in Fairfield for the past 4 1/2 years. She was a homemaker all her adult life.

Mrs. Souza is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Geri and Frank Rapoza of Fairfield. She also has six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lino, in 1981, and her son, Gilbert, in 1994.

Arrangements are being handled by Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Roy Rudolph Suarez

A funeral for Roy Rudolph Suarez, 68, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Stephen Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Fairfield. The Rev. Joseph Davis will officiate. Burial will be at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. today at Solano Valley Mortuary in Fairfield.

Mr. Suarez died Aug. 11, 2000, in Fairfield after a brief illness.

Born May 5, 1932, in Kingston, Jamaica, he lived in Fairfield for the past 22 years. He worked as a custodian at Amy Blanc Elementary School in Fairfield for 15 years. He was a member of St. Stephen Church.

Mr. Suarez is survived by his daughters, Ann Richards, and Samantha of London; and sons, Mark Gomes and Carl of London.

Jugraj S. Takher

A funeral for Jugraj S. Takher, 18, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Friday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home in Fairfield. Inurnment will be in Punjab, India.

Mr. Takher died Aug. 21, 2000, in Fairfield.

Born July 25, 1982, in Fairfield, he lived there his entire life. He attended B Gale Wilson Elementary School and graduated from Armijo High School earlier this year.

Mr. Takher is survived by his parents, Ranjit and Dev of Fairfield; sister, Ruby of Fairfield; brother, Amani of Fairfield; grandparents, Balbir and Ajmer Sandhu of Yuba City and Udham Singh Takher of Yuba City. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Bachan Takher.
