John William Comer

A funeral for John William Comer, 86, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. today at Woodland City Cemetery. Stan Sanderson will officiate. Interment will follow at the cemetery.

Mr. Comer died Aug. 21, 2000, in Vallejo after a long illness.

Born June 8, 1914, in Lebanon, Mo., he lived in Fairfield for the past eight years. He worked for Hercules Powder Company in Hercules for 25 years. His hobby was gardening. He was also a member of Assembly of God Church.

Mr. Comer is survived by his wife, Jeanetta of Fairfield; daughter, Cheryl of Vacaville; granddaughters, Tracy Roshangah of San Francisco and Pamela Hogg of Concord; son-in-law, Mohomad Roshangah of San Francisco; sister, Dell Williams of Wichita, Kan.; and sisters-in-law, Imogene King Anderson of California and Bonnie Jean Wheeler of Martinez. He also has two grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, 631 Howard St., Suite 520, San Francisco 94105-3907, or to the American Heart Association, Redwood Empire Chapter, 1652 W. Texas St., Suite 110, Fairfield, 94533.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Harold S. Helgeson

A memorial service for Harold S. Helgeson, 79, of Vacaville will be 4 p.m. Saturday at the Fairfield Church of Christ. Interment will be at San Joaquin National Cemetery.

Mr. Helgeson died Aug. 17, 2000, in Vacaville.

Born June 17, 1921, in Lake Township, Emmet County, Graettinger, Iowa, he lived in Vacaville for the past seven years after having lived in Modesto for 15 years and Pinole and Rodeo before then.

He retired from the military after serving a total of 22 years in the Marines, the Air Force and at Oakland Army Base. During that time, he served three years in Europe and another three years in the American Samoa.

In 1975, he went to real estate school and earned his license, selling real estate throughout Contra Costa County until officially retiring in 1979. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the AARP. He loved people and was an avid Bible reader.

Mr. Helgeson is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jeanne; three daughters, Theresa Wallacker of Suisun, Trudie Biagi of Rodeo, and Brenda Souza of Ketchikan, Alaska; and grandchildren, Eric and Andrew Wallacker of Suisun, Christopher Biagi of Rodeo, Erin Martinez of Vacaville, April Souza of Ketchikan, Alaska, and Kristy Lynch of Little Rock, Ark. He also has three great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his father, Tom in 1935, his mother, Martha in 1942, children, Ronda in 1986 and Ronald in 1999, and his siblings, Martin in 1963, Sigford in 1976, James in 1985, Leo in 1991, Bertha in 1990, Nellie in 1992, Helen in 1995, and an infant in 1914.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The Eastern European Bible Foundation, P.O. Box 90755, Houston, TX 90755.

Arrangements are being handled by McCune Garden Chapel.

Mary Ann Jasinski

Funeral arrangements for Lt. Col. Mary Ann Jasinski, 53, of San Pablo are pending. Burial will take place in Newport, N.H.

Lt. Col. Jasinski died Aug. 22, 2000, at her home in San Pablo.

Born June 26, 1947, in Claremont, N.H., she retired from the U.S. Air Force in September 1999 to her home in San Pablo. She had a distinguished career in the Air Force, entering active duty in 1984 as a captain stationed at Keesler Air Force Base. Her military service brought her to Travis Air Force Base in 1992, where she was a nurse manager of a 26-bed surgical unit.

Her military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Humanitarian Service Medal.

She graduated from Towle High School in Newport, N.H., before graduating from the University of New Hampshire in the first nursing class in 1969. She subsequently graduated with a master's degree in Adult Health Nursing from Catholic University in Washington, D.C., in 1976.

Her civilian career encompassed roles in clinical nursing, management and nursing instructor, and critical care nursing. She was commissioned in the Air Force Reserve Nurse Corps as a first lieutenant in 1982, having joined the 74th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron at Westover Air Force Base, Mass., as a flight nurse.

Lt. Col. Jasinski is survived by her brothers, Victor of Claremont, N.H., Jerry of Springfield, Vt., and Timothy of Norwood, Mass.; and sister, Nancy Caton of San Pablo.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Home Health Plus Hospice, 901 Sun Valley Blvd., Suite 220, Concord 94520.

Arrangements are being handled by Wilson & Kratzer Mortuaries in San Pablo.

Nicholas Francis Terraszas

Memorial services for Nicholas Francis Terraszas, 3, of Vacaville will be held at a future date, but will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. William Feeser will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Nicholas died Aug. 23, 2000, at University of California, Davis, Medical Center in Sacramento from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born Oct. 11, 1996, in Davis, Nicholas lived in Vacaville all his life. He was such a special little boy who brought so much joy to friends and family.

Nicholas is survived by his parents, Stephen and Betsy of Vacaville; paternal grandparents, Vic and Mary of Foster City; maternal grandmother, Marilyn Call of Wilsonville, Ore.; aunts, Molly Chun of Portland, Ore., Kathleen Karnes of Port Orchard, Ore., and Candy McNichols of St. Louis; uncle, Bob Call of Frederick, Md.; and great-aunts, Bobbie Stephenson of Austin, Texas, and Mattie Moore of Pennington, Texas. He also has numerous cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Kiwanis Family House, P.O. Box 189091, Sacramento 95818-9091

Arrangements are being handled by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Lucille Zimmerman

A memorial service for Lucille Zimmerman, 88, of Suisun will be 5 p.m. Thursday at Fairfield Funeral Home. Pastor Stewart Drake will officiate. Inurnment will be at Lakeside Memorial Lawn in Folsom.

Mrs. Zimmerman died Aug. 23, 2000, at Sunbridge Care Center in Vallejo after a long illness.

Born Nov. 11, 1911, in Fresno, she lived in Suisun for the past two years. She worked as a legal secretary for 30 years before retiring.

Mrs. Zimmerman is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Janice of Suisun; grandchildren, Tara Janice of Vacaville and Lance of Orangevale; and great-grandchild, Morgan Janice of Vacaville.

Evelyn 'Sylvia' Camillo

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Evelyn 'Sylvia" Camillo, 84, of Fairfield will be 7 p.m. Monday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fairfield. The Rev. Michael Downey will officiate. Inurnment will be at the Suisun Fairfield Cemetery on Tuesday at 11 a.m.

Mrs. Camillo died Aug. 21, 2000, at David Grant Medical Center on Travis Air Force Base after a long illness.

Born Oct. 12, 1915, in Paia, Maui, Hawaii, she lived in Fairfield for the past 48 years. She worked at Travis Air Force Base in the Base Exchange as a cashier from 1952 to 1956. She was a homemaker for 60 years and volunteered as a volleyball coach at Holy Spirit School in the late 1960s and early 1970s. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary No. 2333 in Fairfield and the North Wind Quilting Club. She was an avid bowler and bowled in the Mix Senior League. She was involved in various sporting activities and played softball for the Green Giants.

Mrs. Camillo is survived by her daughter, Sandra of Concord; sisters, Anne Bal and Agnes Payne, both of Maui, Hawaii; and brother, Sam Kailewa of Honolulu. She also has numerous relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Fisher House, 831 Alamo Dr., No. 6B, Vacaville 95688.

Julia Annunciata Tortorete

Graveside services for Julia Annunciata Tortorete, 87, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Suisun Fairfield Cemetery. The Rev. Sebastian Meyer will officiate. Burial will follow at the cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Solano Valley Mortuary.

Mrs. Tortorete died Aug. 23, 2000, at Sierra Solano Care Center after a brief illness.

Born March 28, 1913, in Pittsburgh, she lived in Fairfield for the past 18 years. She was a homemaker for 60 years and enjoyed bingo, going to Reno and being with her family. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Fairfield.

Mrs. Tortorete is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Isabelle of Fairfield; and brother, Thomas McGrath of Pittsburgh. She was preceded in death by her husband, Santo, on March 18, 2000.

Francisca Romo

Funeral services for Francisca Romo, a Vacaville resident for 36 years, will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mrs. Romo died Aug. 25 in Vaca Valley Hospital after a sudden illness. She was 74.

Mrs. Romo was born Oct. 10, 1925 in Mexico. She was a homemaker and member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Visitation is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday at Nadeau Family Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

The Rev. Eugenio Lopez will officiate at the funeral and interment at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mrs. Romo is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jose, of Vacaville. Her survivors also include three daughters, Alicia Lopez of Vacaville, Maria Hernandez of Folsom and Sandra Romo of Fairfield; and two sons, Javier Romo and Roberto Romo, both of Vacaville. She had 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a sister, Maria Serrano, of Los Angeles.

Nellie B. Allred

Graveside services for Nellie B. Allred, 87, if Vacaville will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery followed by a memorial at 3:30 p.m. at Portsmouth L.D.S. Chapel. A visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Park Hills Chapel in Walnut Creek. interment will be at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Born April 15, 1913 in Provo, Utah, Mrs. Allred died Aug. 27, 2000 in Vacaville.

She was a resident of Vacaville for 10 years. before that she lived in Pleasant Hill.

Mrs. Allred was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Vacaville 2nd Ward, Daughters of Utah Pioneers and Pleasant Hill Camp. She was a former junior Sunday school coordinator, Relief Society teacher, counselor, secretary, Cub Scout and Boy Scout coordinator.

She is survived by her daughter, Jo Anne Rhodes of Vacaville; son, Dennis of San Diego; brother, Kerby Borens of West Covina; grandchildren, Allan Rhodes of Vacaville, Joellen Rhodes of Livermore and Marilyn Rhodes of Vacaville; great-grandchildren, Cory and Courtney Rhodes and Kirstin Stender. She was preceded in death in 1997 by her husband, Woody Allred; son-in-law, Paul Rhodes in 1999 and a granddaughter, Merrie Rhodes in 1958.

Memorial contributions can be sent to a charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Oak Park Hills Chapel.

Michael R. Martin

Funeral services for Michael R. Martin, 54, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. Thursday at McCune Garden Chapel. Inurnment will be private.

Born June 6, 1946 in Castro Valley, Mr. Martin died Aug. 25, 2000 after a sudden illness.

He lived in Vacaville for the past 20 years and worked as a hotel maintenance man. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and drawing.

Mr. Martin is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Evie and Richard Coffee of Oakdale; daughter, Diana of Modesto; son, Michael of Pacific Beach; and grandchildren, Samantha and Aaron Coffee of Oakdale. He is also survived by his extended family and many friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of McCune Garden Chapel.

Ella Mary Clem

Graveside services for Ella Mary Clem, 84, of Vacaville, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Lafayette.

Mrs. Clem died Aug. 28. A native of Morgan County, Colo., she was a Vacaville resident since 1991. She was also formerly from Concord and Albany.

Mrs. Clem had her own dry cleaning business for 30 years. She was a member of The American Legion Auxiliary in Albany.

Mrs. Clem is survived by daughter, Donna Jean Stewart of Vacaville; son, Jon Allen of Palm Desert; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Josephine Roberts of Wiggins, Colo.; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Allen H. Clem, 1989.

Memorial contributions may be made to the North Bay Alzheimer's Day Care, 2100 Pennsylvania Ave., Fairfield 94533.

Arrangements were handled by Bryant & Moore Chapel.

Scott William Gelling

Services for Scott William Gelling, 42, of Fairfield, will be private. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Gelling died Aug. 25 in NorthBay Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born March 26, 1958 in Illinois, he lived in Fairfield for 14 years. He worked for United Airlines as a machinist in San Francisco for the past 14 years. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists union (I.A.M.)

Mr. Gelling is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth A. and Lauren Louise, both of Fairfield; son, William of Fairfield; sister, Kimberly Grala of Carol Stream, Ill.; parents, William and Elaine of Lombard, Ill.; and fiance, Louise Lehman of Fairfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association of Contra Costa/Solano, 105 Astrid Drive, Pleasant Hill, 94523.

Arrangements were handled by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Michael Ray Johnson

Funeral services for Michael Ray Johnson, 43, of Fairfield will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, in the Fairfield Funeral Home.

Elder Leon McNeil will officiate. Burial will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson died unexpectedly Aug. 21 in NorthBay Medical Center.

Born July 14, 1957 at Edwards Air Force Base, he lived in Fairfield for 30 years. He worked as an heavy equipment operator with Operating Engineers for 10 years.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his parents, Charles and Annie of Fairfield; nephew, James of Sacramento; brother and sister-in-law, Gerry and Melody of Sacramento; and a brother, Kenneth of Japan.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday in Fairfield Funeral Home.
