Hilda M. Andrade
Hilda M. Andrade of Riverdale died Jan. 24, 2005 at the age of 91.
She was born in Sao Jorge, Azores Islands, but lived in this area most of her life. She attended Lemoore Grammar School and graduated from Lemoore High School. In 1934, Hilda married Joe Andrade and moved to Riverdale, where she lived the rest of her life.

Sofia Brookman
Tulare resident Sofia Brookman, 81, passed away Feb. 28.

Sofia was born on Oct. 13, 1919 in the Azores to Francisco and Antonia Garcia. She came to California, then to Tulare County when she was three years old and has lived in the area since that time. After graduating from Tulare High School in 1937, Sofia was one of the first female pilots in Tulare County working at Rankin Field before the start of World War II. After living and working around the country during WWII, her family lived in Tulare and Porterville. For the past 30 years she has been an accountant and tax preparer for hundreds of clients throughout the Valley, working out of her home.

She is survived by five daughters, Nonnie Austin of Porterville, Janice Miner of Turlock, Paula Zakrzeski of Valdosta, Ga., Shiela Brookman of Fresno and Donna Scott of Salinas; a brother, Con Garcia of Kingman, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Scott Brookman, and one brother.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Myers Funeral Chapel in Porterville.

Remembrances may be sent to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1211, Porterville, CA 93258 and/or the donor's favorite charity.

John Lawrence Borges
Hanford resident John Lawrence Borges, 49, passed away to be with his heavenly Father on April 6 in a Stanford hospital.

John was born in Fresno, raised in Laton and then moved to Hanford. In 1995 he married Lori Ann Wilkinson. John was a longtime employee of Lawrence Tractor Company for 24 years in Hanford where he worked in the parts/sales department. John was loved by his family and friends too numerous to count. He could be counted on for anything. He was never too busy. John loved working in his yard, building and fixing things, being with his dogs and traveling with Lori. We all loved him and will miss him, but will forever cherish all of our memories of him. We all await the day we can join him at our heavenly Father's table, along with those who have preceded him and with whom he will be awaiting.

He is survived by his wife, Lori Ann Borges; his only son, Michael Borges; his four dogs, Patches, Sadie, Sophie and Gigi; his cat, Tiger; his mother Josephine Borges; two sisters, Judy Vargas and Marlene Gomes; and four brothers, Manuel, Tony, Danny and Elmer Borges. He was preceded in death by his father, Manuel Borges, and his brothers, Joe and George Borges.

Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Wednesday followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. Wednesday at  Whitehurst-McNamara Funeral Services Chapel in Hanford. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Koinonia Christian Fellowship, at 323 E. 11th St., in Hanford. Burial will be in the Grangeville Cemetery in Armona.

Remembrances may be sent to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 470 E. Herndon, Suite 102, Fresno, CA 93720-2929 or to the Kings County SPCA, Hanford, CA.

Jacquolin H. Braden
Lemoore resident Jacquolin H. Braden, 69, died Nov. 17 in a Fresno hospital.
Jacquolin was born in Long Beach and had lived in Lemoore for the past 27 years.
For the past 15 years she had worked as a salesperson for Pereira's Jewelry and the Fashion Gallery in Lemoore.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Presbyterian Church of Lemoore.

Bill Cardoza

Bill Cardoza, 50, of Modesto, died July 23, 2004 in Fresno.
A rosary for Mr. Cardoza was recited July 29 at Thomas-Robinson Funeral Home in Selma, followed by celebration of a Mass of Christian Burial July 30 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Selma.
The family is planning on a private interment.
Mr. Cardoza was employed as a truck driver.

Abraham R. Diaz Jr.

Abraham R. Diaz Jr., 47, of Kingsburg, died July 27, 2004 in Fresno.
A memorial service for Mr. Diaz will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 5 at Creighton Memorial Chapel in Kingsburg, followed by burial at Kingsburg Cemetery.
Mr. Diaz was disabled and wasn't working.

Ruben Vasquez

Ruben Vasquez, 72, of Fresno, died July 30, 2004 in Fresno. A rosary for Mr. Vasquez was recited Aug. 3 at his residence in Fresno. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Aug. 4 at St. Anthony's Claret Church in Fresno. The family has chosen cremation and a private inurnment. Mr. Vasquez was employed as a roofer. Thomas-Robinson Funeral Home in Selma is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Albert Goertzen

Albert Goertzen, 90, of Reedley, died July 26, 2004 in Reedley.
A graveside funeral service for Mr. Goertzen was held July 30 at Smith Mountain Cemetery in Dinuba.
Immediately thereafter, a memorial service was held at Palm Village in Reedley.
Mr. Goertzen was a retired electrician.
Among his survivors is a daughter, Helena M. Voss, of Selma.
Dopkins Funeral Chapel in Dinuba assisted the family with the arrangements.

Flossie Heatley

Flossie Heatley, 93, of Kingsburg, died July 29, 2004 in Kingsburg.
A funeral service for Mrs. Heatley was held Aug. 3 at the Church of the Nazarene in Pixley.
Burial took place at Tipton Cemetery. Mrs. Heatley was a farmer.
Creighton Memorial Chapel in Kingsburg assisted the family with the arrangements.

Leopoldo Maciel-Zamudio

Leopoldo Maciel-Zamudio, 51, of Merced, died July 21, 2004 in Merced. A rosary for Mr. Maciel-Zamudio was recited Aug. 2 at Thomas-Robinson Funeral Home in Selma. Funeral services and burial will take place in Michoacan, Mexico at a later date. Mr. Maciel-Zamudio was employed in farm labor.

Alfredo Martinez

Alfredo Martinez, 19, of Avenal, died July 26, 2004 in Kerman from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Funeral services and burial will take place in Hidalgo, Mexico at a later date.
Mr. Martinez was employed in farm labor.
Thomas-Robinson Funeral Home in Selma is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Johnnie Seely

Johnnie Seely, 80, of Selma, died July 31, 2004 in Selma.
A funeral service for Mr. Seely was held Aug. 3 at Page Funeral Chapel in Selma.

The family has chosen cremation and a private inurnment.
Mr. Seely worked for PG&E for 35 years.

Mary Ann (Petery) Schuessler

Mary Ann (Petery) Schuessler, 68, of Fresno, died July 26, 2004 in Fresno.
A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Cwick family residence.

Mrs. Schuessler formerly owned Selma Pressure Treating Company.

Marion Elizabeth Lankford Forrest

Marion Elizabeth Lankford Forrest, 74, of Kingsburg, died Nov. 25, 2004 in Fresno.
A rosary was recited and a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Mrs. Forrest Nov. 30 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Selma.
Burial took place at Floral Memorial Park in Selma. Mrs. Forrest was a farmer.
The family requests that remembrances be sent to: AG-One CSUF, 5241 N. Maple Ave., Fresno, CA 93720, or to the donor's favorite charity.
Farewell Funeral Service in Fresno assisted the family with the arrangements.

Clara Bell Fritchey

Clara Bell Fritchey, 64, of Traver, died Nov. 28, 2004 in Kingsburg.
Mrs. Fritchey was a retired aviation manufacturing company employee.
The family has chosen cremation and a private inurnment.
Creighton Memorial Chapel in Kingsburg is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Harry Echiyu Hiraoka

Harry Echiyu Hiraoka, 92, of Fowler, died Nov. 20, 2004 in Fowler.
A funeral service for Mr. Hiraoka was held Nov. 26 at Page Funeral Chapel in Selma.
Burial took place at Fowler Cemetery.
Mr. Hiraoka was employed as an orchardist.

Muriel Eileen Hord

Muriel Eileen Hord, 80, of Fowler, died Nov. 25, 2004 in Fresno.
A funeral service for Mrs. Hord will be held at 1 p.m. Dec. 1 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Visalia.
Burial will take place at Visalia District Cemetery.
Mrs. Hord was employed as a secretary prior to retirement.
Hadley Funeral Chapel in Visalia assisted the family with the arrangements.
