Gary Saltzman

A private family service has been held for Gary Saltzman, 56.

Mr. Saltzman died Oct. 10, 2000, at Courtyard Health Care in Davis. He was born Dec. 12, 1943, in Fairfield.

Mr. Saltzman was raised in Fairfield and graduated from Armijo High School in 1961. He worked as a bus driver and maintenance person for various school districts in Solano and Marin County. He also drove a tour bus from Mill Valley to San Francisco for many 49ers games. In his spare time he enjoyed building model cars and was an avid card player. He also enjoyed reading.

Mr. Saltzman is survived by his mother, Ruth Dias of Vacaville; children, Sandi Mitchell of Fairfield, Rhiannon of Mill Valley and Jacob of Mill Valley; sister, Alannah Ashlie-Vinkey of Woodenville, Wash. He was preceded in death by his father, George A. Saltzman.

Arrangements were handled by Davis Funeral Chapel.

Marcella Genlot Collings

A service of remembrance for Marcella Genlot Collings, 76, of Vacaville will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Nadeau Family Funeral Home. Pastor David Sotelo will preside. Interment will be private.

Born March 13, 1924, in Connecticut, Mrs. Collings died Oct. 17, 2000, at NorthBay Medical Center after a long illness.

She lived in Vacaville for the past two years, and Moraga for 40 years before that.

Mrs. Collings was a homemaker and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

She is survived by her daughter, Candice Marcella of Reno; daughter and son-in-law, Rexanne and John Trambley of Vacaville; son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Susan Boddy of Fremont; son, Philip Kent of Walnut Creek; and brothers, August Walter Genlot of Palm Springs and George Emil Genlot of Simsbury, Conn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Abram Collings Jr.

Memorial contributions can be made to Guide Dogs for the Blind, P.O. Box 3950, San Rafael, 94912-3950.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Irvin K. Cunningham

A funeral for Irvin K. Cunningham, 82, of Suisun will be 1 p.m. Friday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. Interment will be at Rockville Cemetery.

Born Jan. 30, 1918, in Locust Grove, Okla., Mr. Cunningham died Oct. 17, 2000, at his home.

He worked in construction for OC Jones & Sons in Berkeley for 37 years. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He loved the holidays, getting together with his family and many friends. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #3 for 54 years. He enjoyed fishing, trips to Reno, horse races and he was a great practical joker.

Mr. Cunningham is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Alvin and Melody of Redding, Virgle and Judy of Richmond, Joe of Richmond, Charles of Sacramento, Don and Jerelyn of Hercules, Gary and Wanda of Richmond, Jack and Idell Choate of Spokane, Wash.; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Thompson of Suisun, Phyllis and Clarence Cleaver of Suisun, Patricia and Nick Caughman of Suisun and Victoria and Rick Nunes of Winters; brother, Joe of Edmond, Okla.; sisters, Flossie Wisely of Tulsa, Okla., Faye Frayer of La Grande, Okla., Geraldine Campbell of Ardmore, Okla., Mary Jane Speck of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 30 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, four grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

Lorene Johnson

A funeral for Lorene Johnson, 54, of Fairfield, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

The Rev. Robert Allen will officiate. Disposition will be in Fairmont Memorial Park.

Mrs. Johnson died Oct. 15, 2000, in Fairfield.

Born Sept. 21, 1946, in Alabama, she resided in Fairfield for 34 years. She worked 20 years for Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District; her last position held was as a janitorial supervisor.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by a daughter, Yolandra Forney of Fairfield; sons, John Jackson and Frederick Kelly, both of Fairfield; sister, Roxie Robinson of Vallejo; brothers, Freddie Lee Jackson of Fairfield, Billy and Willie Hood, both of Douglassville, Ga. and Roy Hood of Atlanta, Ga.; three grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Marcella Genlot Collings

Troy D. Long

A memorial service for Troy D. Long, 67, of Dixon, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Dixon.

Bishop David McClellan will preside. Interment will be private.

Mr. Long died Oct. 17, 2000, in Vallejo after a short illness.

Born May 27, 1933, in Fort Cobb, Okla., he lived in Dixon for five years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, and worked for Pacific Gas and Electric Company for 33 years, where he began as mechanic and retired as a facility superintendent in 1993. He was a devoted family man who enjoyed fishing, hunting and auto mechanics.

Mr. Long is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sonia of Dixon; children, Gary of Fairfield; Sherry Mineer of Blackfood, Idaho; Jeffrey Long of Heber City, Utah; and Joseph of Dixon; seven grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Norma of Roseville; and sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Roger Nash of McCloud.

Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society, c/o ruth Bradanini, 290 Fruitvale Road, Vacaville 95688.

Arrangements were handled by Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.

Carl Paul Novosel

A funeral for Carl Paul Novosel, 80, of Vacaville will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethany Lutheran Church. Pastor Lester Seto will officiate. Burial with full military honors will be 11 a.m. Monday at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mr. Novosel died Oct. 17, 2000, at Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento.

Born Sept. 22, 1920, in Altuna, Pa., he lived in Solano County for 40 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, retiring with the rank of E-9, chief master sergeant. He then was an aircraft inspector for 10 years at Travis Air Force Base. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Mr. Novosel is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marian of Vacaville; daughter, Jeanne of Rancho Cordova; sons, Carl Steven and Joseph Paul, both of Vacaville; and sister, Adelle Columbini of Anaheim Hills.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Disabled American Veterans.

Arrangements are being handled by Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Troy D. Long

A memorial service for Troy D. Long, 67, of Dixon, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of Dixon.

Mildred Lee Morgan

A funeral for Mildred Lee Morgan, 88, of Fairfield will be 1 p.m. today at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. Pastor W.A. Burkey will officiate. Interment will be at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Morgan died Oct. 19, 2000, in Santa Rosa after a long illness.

Born Nov. 28, 1911, in Thomasville, N.C., she lived in Fairfield for the past 52 years. She graduated in 1930 from Lenoir High School in North Carolina and worked at a local drug store and as a beauty operator at her aunt Lucy's beauty parlor. She married Claude F. Morgan in 1947 and they moved to Travis Air Force Base. They spent four years in Erding, Germany, and returned to Fairfield. She was very active in the First Baptist Church in Fairfield; working the nursery, Sunday school and Bible schools.

She mothered many neighborhood children and cared for children in her home. She served as church secretary from 1965 to 1972. She had a great love for God and her church. She was involved in starting a senior citizens group at the church called, "Keenagers," which she dearly loved. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fairfield and the Crystal Rebecca Lodge of Suisun.

Mrs. Morgan is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Albert Merritt of Santa Rosa; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Carol of Pala; brother, Clarence Petree of Lenoir, N.C.; grandchildren, Sarah Ponsford of Santa Rosa, Rachel Hazelwood of Rohnert Park, Katie Donaghy of Sacramento and Morgan Merritt of Santa Rosa. She also has three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude F. Morgan, in 1986.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The Keenagers Program, c/o First Baptist Church of Fairfield, 1108 Washington St., Fairfield, 94533.

Gloriane M. Silveira

A Mass of Christian Burial for Gloriane M. Silveira, 64, of Dixon will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church. The Rev. Maurice O'Brien will officiate. Burial will follow at Silveyville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Milton Carpenter Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Silveira died Oct. 20, 2000, in Sacramento.

Born Sept. 3, 1936, she was a lifelong resident of Dixon. She was a homemaker all her adult life and was a member of Our Lady of Fatima of Dixon. She loved to travel, watch television and listen to music.

Mrs. Silveira is survived by her husband of 38 years, Carlos of Dixon; mother, Angela Cardoza of Dixon. She also has several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and nephews.

Roberto Aviles

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday at noon for Roberto Aviles, 82, of Fairfield at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.

Entombment will be at Fairmont Memorial Park in Fairfield.

Mr. Aviles died Oct. 21, 2000, in his home.

A native of Nicaragua, he came to the United States in 1952 and made his home in San Francisco. He retired after 28 years working with Stecher-Traung-Shmidt of San Francisco and has been a Fairfield resident for 14 years.

Mr. Aviles enjoyed taking walks with his wife and dog and was an avid sports fan. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Mr. Aviles is survived by his wife of 55 years, Haydee of Fairfield; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Jr. and Patricia of Aptos and Douglas and Mirna of Daly City; daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Matthew Hague of Fairfield; grandchildren, Robert, and his wife, Judy, of San Jose, Nina of Scottsdale, Ariz., Yesenia and Douglas of Daly City and Sara Miranda of Suisun; great-grandchildren, Adriana and Hanna Aviles and Mallory Stein; and many nieces and nephews.

A vigil will be held tonight at 7:30 in the Bryan-Braker Funeral Home of Fairfield with visitation from 5 to 9 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made in Roberto's memory to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Building Fund, 2700 Dover Ave., Fairfield, 94533.

Arrangement were handled by Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Rosa 'Mamatoy' Becker

A Catholic Prayer Service for Rosa "Mamatoy" Becker, 90, of Vacaville will be at 7 p.m. Thursday in Vaca Hills Chapel. The Rev. Vincent O'Reilly will officiate. Inurnment will be private at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.

Becker died Oct. 21, 2000 after a long illness.

Born Oct. 23, 1909 in Guatemala, she moved to Vacaville three years ago. She was a homemaker, and 50-year member of St. Anthony's Dining Room, St. Jude Foundation, St. Francis of Assisi Foundation, Heart Association, Cancer Society and Disabled Veterans. She enjoyed sewing and shopping.

She is survived by her neice, Lilian Contreras of Vacaville; great nieces Mimi Dominguez of San Francisco; Rosalinda Peckham of Vacaville; and Diana Rocha of San Ramon, great nephews Richard Contreras of Sonoma; Ed Geddling of San Ramon; Ron Geddling of San Francisco; and many relatives in the Bay Area.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Arrangements are by Vaca Hills Chapel.
