Angela Cardoza

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Angela Cardoza, 91, of Dixon at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Dixon.

Rev. Maurice O'Brien will preside. Burial will follow at Silveyville Cemetery, Dixon.

Mrs. Cardoza died Nov. 12, 2000, in Vacaville.

Born Jan. 15, 1908, in Gridley, where she lived in Dixon for over 65 years. She owned and operated a family dairy. She was an active member of the Senior Citizens Club, the Art Club and the UPPEC. She was recognized by the Dixon May Fair for her true passion, growing irises, by being awarded the blue ribbon. Not only did she enjoy growing irises, she loved to paint them.

Mrs. Cardoza is survived by her sister, Agnes Amaral of Rio Vista; nieces, Diane Swindall of Davis and Sharlene Evans of McKinnleyville; great-niece, Angela Taggart of Dixon; son-in-law, Carlos Silveira of Dixon; nephews, Jeff Sires of Davis, Philip Evans of Washington and Chad Evans of San Francisco; numerous extended family members.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. in Milton Carpenter Funeral Home in Dixon.

Winfred Gray Carper

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Winfred Gray Carper, 63, of Fairfield at 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.

The Rev. Joseph Joyce will officiate. Interment will be in Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Mr. Carper died Nov. 14, 2000, in Fairfield after a short illness.

Born Aug. 18, 2000, in New Castle, Va., he resided in Fairfield for 22 years. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 23 years as a master sergeant. After he retired in 1978, he went to work for Ball Metal in 1979. He was in shipping and receiving. He retired in 1995. He enjoyed golfing and fishing.

Mr. Carper is survived by his wife, Judy of Fairfield; and mother, Beverly of Virginia.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday with a rosary held at 7 p.m. in Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Arlis R. 'Sarge' Gloege

A funeral for Arlis R. "Sarge" Gloege, 75, of Solano County will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Dixon Community Church.

Pastor Wesley Nordman will preside. Interment will follow at Silveyville Cemetery, Dixon.

Mr. Gloege died Nov. 11, 2000, in Vacaville after a short illness.

Born Nov. 23, 1924, in Odessa, Minn., he lived in Solano County for 37 years. He served proudly for 20 years in the U.S. Army in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. From 1962 to 1963, he served as the University of California, Davis, ROTC rifle team instructor. He was a member of the American Legion Post 208 out of Dixon. He enjoyed his wife's cooking and the many friends of the family.

Mr. Gloege is survived by his wife of 46 years, Emma; his sons and daughters-in-law, Michael F. and Kimberly of Dixon, James D. and Teresa of Dixon; son, Gerald A. of Twin Falls, Idaho; grandsons, Mike J. and Zachary of Dixon; his sister, Phyllis M. Pedroncelli of Sonoma; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today in Milton Carpenter Funeral Home, Dixon.

Contributions may be made in his honor to The American Legion Post 208 of Dixon, 231 North 1st St., Dixon, 95620.

David E. Wegele-Huntley

A Celebration of Life for David E. Wegele-Huntley, 25, of Felton will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Vaca Valley Christian Life Center. Pastor David Crone will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Wegele-Huntley died Nov. 10, 2000, in Alameda.

Born July 3, 1975, in Vallejo, he lived in Vacaville and later Felton. He worked for Willy's Construction in Vacaville. He enjoyed motocross, snowboarding, surfing, fishing, hunting and golf.

Mr. Wegele-Huntley is survived by his fiancee, Jami Lindstrom of Felton; mother and father, Linda and Bill "Willy" Huntley of Vacaville; a sister, Deena Brokaw of Davis; his maternal grandfather, Larry R. Weber of Fairfield; his maternal grandmother, Mary R. Jones of Vacaville; Dana Wegele of Fairfield; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Native Animal Rescue of Santa Cruz, P.O. Box 1001, Santa Cruz, 95061-1001.

Arrangements were by McCune Garden Chapel.

Frank Joseph Levengood Sr.

A Celebration of Life for Frank Joseph Levengood Sr., 67, of Vacaville will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Vaca Hills Chapel. Rev. O'Reilly will officiate.

Mr. Levengood died Nov. 12, 2000, at his home after a short illness.

Born Oct. 12, 1933, in Pottstown, Penn., he has resided in Vacaville for the past 30 years, excluding a 3-year residence in the Philippines. He served in the United States Air Force for 26 years and was active in the Civil Service for 10 years. After retirement from the service, he continued private pilot flight instruction in the local area. He was a member of the Quiet Birdman and taught two of his sons to fly.

Mr. Levengood is survived by his wife of 35 years, Rufina; sister, Joanie Lipton of Pennsylvania; son, Frank Jr.; sons and daughters-in-law Andy and Melanie, Gary and Wern; grandchildren, Sabrina and Jacob Drew; numerous friends and other family members. He was preceded in death by his brother, Leroy.

Lowel 'Bud' Roach

A funeral for Lowel "Bud" Roach, 69, of Apple Valley will be held Thursday in Apple Valley.

Mr. Roach died Nov. 11, 2000, in his home after complications from cancer.

Born May 16, 1931, in Laird, Colo., he resided in Apple Valley. He served 21 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring from Travis Air Force Base Sept. 1, 1974.

Mr. Roach is survived by his immediate family in Vacaville. Son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Lynda; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Kip Hartnett; grandchildren, Jeni, Niki, Stan, Tim, Cheri, Sarah and Robyn; wife, Evelyn; stepson and daughter-in-law, Mike and Dianne; stepdaughters and sons-in-law Cathy and Dwayne and Lisa and Arthur; eight step-grandchildren; sisters, Ollie Loop, Margret Stasser and Francis Larimer of Colorado.

Arrangements were handled by Dudley Mortuary in Apple Valley.

Lydia L. Estrella

Funeral services for Lydia L. Estrella, 68, of Fairfield, will be Friday at the Community United Methodist Church. Rev. David Bunje will preside. Interment will be at the Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery.

Mrs. Estrella was a homemaker and a seamstress.

She is survived by her husband, Juan of Fairfield; daughters, Minerva Badillo of Escalon, Elizabeth Alvarez of Rocklin, Ligia Matines of Marorin, Venezuela and Lisette Henderson of Woodland; sons, Waldemar and Alex, both of Madrid, Spain; brother, Carlos Lopez of Santa Clara; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions can be sent to the Arthritis Foundation, Northern California Chapter, 203 Willow St., Suite 201, San Francisco 94109.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Bryan-Braker Funeral Home.

Ruth Ann McCormick

At her request, there will be no services held for Ruth Ann McCormick, 58, of Fairfield. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. McCormick died Nov. 13, 2000 in Fairfield.

Born Sept. 26, 1942, she lived in Fairfield for 35 years. She was a homemaker, a loving mother and grandmother.

Mrs. McCormick is survived by her sons, John of Suisun, Tony and Jeff of Fairfield; daughter-in-law, April of Fairfield; brother, Donny Lucas of Richmond; sisters, Jeanne Vessel and Frances Hedgecock, both of Richmond; two step-grandchildren, Mandy Powell and Demetris Juarez of Fairfield; her longtime companion, Henry Leavy; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1652 W. Texas St., Fairfield 94533.

Elmer A. Riba

A memorial service for retired U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Elmer A. Riba, 89, was held Oct. 31 at Faith Lutheran Church in Pioneer.

Mr. Riba died Oct. 27, 2000 at David Grant Medical Center, Travis, from complications following successful knee replacement surgery.

Born in Hettinger, N.D., he attended school there, graduated from Holloway High School in Minnesota, and worked on the family farm until the Great Depression.

Mr. Riba then moved to Los Angeles to join the Air Force Flight Training School. He returned home and enlisted at Fort Snelling in St. Paul, Minn., in 1939 and was serving in the Philippines when World War II broke out.

When the Japanese attacked the Philippines, his unit retreated to New Guinea. He returned to the States in 1944 and later served in the Korean Conflict. He was also stationed in Japan, Ohio, Hawaii and Travis. He retired from the military in 1966 and moved to Amador County.

He and his wife volunteered to entertain monthly with their folk dancing group at the four rest homes in Amador County. He taught folk dancing and gave monthly demonstrations for children on the art of soapstone carving at Chaw'se Indian Grinding Rock State Park in Vocano.

He was past-president of the Folk Dance Federation of Northern California, a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church of Pioneer, was a docent at the Amador-Whitney Museum in Amador City, and belonged to Sons In Retirement (SIRs).

Mr. Riba enjoyed woodworking and excelled at intricate wood-inlay on tables and doors.

He is survived by his wife, Milli of Pine Grove; daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Frank Moore of Vacaville; sister, Mildred Marquardt of Aitkin, Minn.; and grandsons, Don, Steve and Bill of Vacaville.

Arrangements were handled by McCrory Funeral Home in Pine Grove.

Isac Frias

Graveside services for Isac Frias, 76, of Dixon, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Silveyville Cemetery. The Rev. Maurice O'Brien will officiate.

Mr. Frias died Nov. 12, 2000, in Davis after a short illness.

Born July 6, 1924, in Texas, he lived in Dixon for the past three years. He worked as a farm laborer all his adult life.

Mr. Frias is survived by his brother, Luciano of Texas; stepdaughter, Connie Serrato of Dixon; and grandchildren, Leticia Gallegos and Marie Serrato of Sacramento and Alicia Serrato of Winters. He also has numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are being handled by Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.

William Anthony Landaker

A memorial service for William Anthony Landaker, 38, of Vacaville will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Catholic Church.

The Rev. Vincent O'Reilly will officiate. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Landaker died Nov. 14, 2000, in Vacaville after a sudden illness.

Born May 26, 1962, in Vallejo, he was a lifetime county resident. He was a supervisor for Schmalbach-Lubeca Co. for 20 years. He loved sports, and coaching his son, Nick, in baseball and basketball.

Mr. Landaker is survived by his wife, Jennifer of Vacaville; children, Nick, Alexis and Zack all of Vacaville; parents, Edward and Vilma of Vallejo; sister, Cindy Chaney of Vacaville; brothers, Steve and Ron, both of Vallejo, and Joey of Elk Grove; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association; or the Bill Landaker Memorial Fund, Travis Federal Credit Union, attn: MSA Dept., P.O. Box 2069, Vacaville, 95696-2069.

Arrangements were handled by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Jennie V. Rainoldi

A mass of Christian burial will be held for Jennie V. Rainoldi, 93, of Dixon, at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Catholic Church. The Rev. Maurice O'Brien will preside. Interment will follow at the Oak Mound Cemetery in Healdsburg.

Born Sept. 22, 1907, in San Francisco, Mrs. Rainoldi died Nov. 13, 2000, in Davis.

Mrs. Rainoldi was a homemaker all her life. She lived in Dixon for four years and Cloverdale before that for 30 years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Gloria of Sacramento and Richard and JoAnn of Dixon; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 1984.

Memorial contributions can be made in Mrs. Rainoldi's name to the donor's favorite charity.

Arrangements are under the direction of Milton Carpenter Funeral Home.
