Jack Thomas McMahon

A memorial service for Jack Thomas McMahon, 77, of Vacaville, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Nadeau Family Funeral Home. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. McMahon died Dec. 13, 2000, at University of California, Davis, Medical Center after an accident.

Born Sept. 18, 1923, in Los Angeles, he lived in Vacaville for the past two years. He served in the U.S. Army for three years during World War II and worked as a supervisor for Pacific Telephone Co. for 32 years before retiring in 1982. He was an active member and president of the Leisure Town Men's Club. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge of Lake Elsinore. He loved the outdoors, especially golfing, fishing and camping and the company of his dog, Charlie.

Mr. McMahon is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Vacaville; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael John and Sally of San Jose, and Rodney Thomas and Paula of Vacaville; a sister and brother-in-law, Rhea and John Greene of Escondido; grandchildren, Lisa and Sara of San Jose, Rhondie Bell of Vacaville, and Ryon of Vacaville; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Mitchell of San Jose, and Cheyenne and Jered Bell, both of Vacaville.

Gregory Rangel

A Catholic Prayer Service for Gregory Rangel, 49, of Atascadero, will be 10 a.m. today at St. William's Catholic Church in Atascadero. Inurnment will be private.

Mr. Rangel died peacefully on Dec. 8, 2000, at Twin Cities Hospital in San Luis Obispo following a long illness.

Born Sept. 8, 1951, in San Luis Obispo, he lived in Vacaville from 1976 to 1995. He worked in the construction trades and for the city of Vacaville Public Works Department in the 1980s. A member of the California Salinian Indian tribe, he was proud of his heritage.

Many of his friends and co-workers called him "Chief." He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. His favorite hunting partners were his former brothers-in-law, Michael A. Davis of Winters and Richard J. Davis of Vacaville. He will be remembered for his love of nature, sense of humor and positive spirit.

Mr. Rangel is survived by his daughter, Rhianna Lane Rangel-Smith; his sister and caregiver, Nancy Rangel of Atascadero, and many relatives in San Luis Obispo County.

Memorial contributions may be made to D-Q University, 33250 County Road 1, Davis, or the Indian Health Service Scholarship Program, 12300 Twinbrook Parkway, Suite 100, Rockville, Md., 20852.

Arrangements are by Chapel of the Roses in Atascadero.

Theodore 'Teddy' Rogers

A funeral for Theodore 'Teddy' Rogers, 21, of Dixon, will be 2 p.m. today at St. Peters Catholic Church.

Interment will be at Silveyville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.

Mr. Rogers died Dec. 8, 2000, in Sutter Davis Hospital after a long illness.

Born Oct. 29, 1979, he was a lifelong resident of Dixon, although he lived in Germany and New York while his father was serving in the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from Dixon High School in the Class of 1997 and lettered in track and cross country. He was the recipient of a bowling scholarship and was an excellent volleyball player. He played both the piano and saxophone. He was stricken with an illness during his senior year in high school.

Mr. Rogers is survived by his parents, Ted and Kathy of Dixon; a sister, Janine "January" of Dixon; maternal grandparents, Lee and Marianne Tong of Fairfield; paternal grandfather, Ted of Fairfield; paternal grandmother, Betty of Mt. Shasta; maternal great-grandmother, Suey Tong of Fresno; aunts, Vivienne Powell of Campbell, Lisa Tong of Suisun, Katie Tong of Suisun and Ginger Stuart of Santa Cruz; uncles, Bob Lowell of Campbell and John Tong; and great-uncle and great-aunt, Bill and Margie of San Lorenzo. He also has numerous cousins and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Theodore "Teddy" Rogers Fund. Donations will be used for caring for Wegener's granulomatosis patients. Mail contributions to Bank of America, Dixon Branch, 178 N. First St., Dixon, 95620.

Roger DeVille

At his request, no formal services will be held for Roger DeVille, 93, of Lawrenceville, Ga.

Born Feb. 9, 1907, in Montreal, Canada, Mr. DeVille died Dec. 10, 2000, in Duluth, Ga.

Mr. DeVille owned City Cleaners in Vallejo for 35 years.

He is survived by sons, Eugene of Duluth, Ga., and Roger of Wilsonville, Ore.; four grandchildren; and, three great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Bill Head Funeral Home.

Fortunato 'Greg' Hernandez

Memorial services for Fortunato "Greg" Hernandez, 77, of Vacaville will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, 199 Marina Blvd., Suisun, with Pastor Chuck McKinney officiating.

Mr. Hernandez died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at the Vacaville Convalescent and Rehabilitation Hospital after a three-month illness and kidney failure.

A native of Mexico City, Mexico, he lived many years in San Francisco and Concord, 28 years in Orangevale and one year in Vacaville.

He worked as a waiter for 40 years for such restaurants as Joe DiMaggio's and Bimbo's 365 Night Club in San Francisco, The Newell House in Walnut Creek, The Cape Cod House in Lafayette and most recently for The Firehouse Restaurant in Old Town Sacramento.

He belonged to the Vacaville Senior Center and First Christian Church in Suisun and enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Lorraine "Taco" and Chuck Hager of Vacaville, and Suzanne and Michael Fisher of Benicia; son and daughter-in-law, Arty and Karen Hernandez of Antioch; son, James B. of California; brother and sister-in-law, Agustin and Juanita of Hayward; a brother, Jesus of Mexico; sisters, Catalina Hernandez of Newark, and Constanza Ugartechea and Glafira Quiroz of Mexico; grandchildren, Sunnye Ramirez of Hayward, Jason and Justin Hernandez of Antioch, Rachael Maria Hernandez of Sacramento, Chaz and Alicia Hager of Vacaville, Erica Fisher of Benicia, and Frank and James Hernandez of New York; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Hernandez is preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Barbara Lee Wertz Hernandez in 1994, and his sons, Ricardo A. in 1986 and Lawrence M. in 1988.

Private inurnment will be in Mt. Vernon Memorial Park in Fair Oaks.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to First Christian Church Building Fund, 199 Marina Blvd., Suisun, 94585.

Arrangements are directed by Nadeau Family Funeral Home.

Gloria Arlene Greene

A memorial service for Gloria Arlene Greene, 74, of Fairfield will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Solano Valley Mortuary. John A. English Sr., will officiate. Inurnment will be private and her ashes will be scattered at sea.

Mrs. Greene died Dec. 13, 2000, at SunBridge Care Center in Fairfield.

Born Aug. 8, 1926, in Lycoming County, Pa., she lived in Fairfield for the past five years. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Greene is survived by her daughters, Cynthia D. English of Fairfield and Gloria of Hesperia; sons, Robert J. Jr. of Charlotte, N.C., and Steven and James C., both of Kailua, Hawaii; sisters, Florence Villa of Syracuse, N.Y., and Burnetta Williams of Buffalo, N.Y.; and brothers, Frank Cohan of Rolling Hills, Red Cohan of Syracuse and Phil Cohan of Fullerton. She also has 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Sr.

Opal Reed Maloney

A funeral for Opal Reed Maloney, 94, of Fairfield will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. Entombment will be at Fairmont Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 to 5 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Maloney died Dec. 12, 2000, at Louisiana Living Center in Vallejo after an extended illness.

Born Nov. 7, 1906, in Jefferson County, Ind., she lived in Fairfield for the past 42 years. She was the former caretaker of Suisun City's historic Lawler House. She then served as a representative for senior citizens on a city council committee. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and an officer of the Senior Citizens of Fairfield. She also worked for the Democratic Party, was an avid card player and spent many hours crocheting.

Mrs. Maloney is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Allen and Mary Jo Riley of Lexington, Ind., and Gary Wayne and Sharon Copeland of Fairfield; daughter and son-in-law, Dixie Lee and Charles Riley of New Washington, Ind.; and daughter, Virginia Heller of Penn Valley. She also has 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Mariano Gavino Martinez

A funeral for Mariano Gavino Martinez, 52, of Fairfield will be 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. The Rev. Umberto Penunuri will officiate. Interment will be at St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Fairfield. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home, with a vigil to be recited at 7 p.m.

Mr. Martinez died Dec. 12, 2000, at his home in Fairfield after a short illness.

Born Dec. 27, 1947, in Jalisco, Mexico, he lived in Fairfield for the past 32 years. He worked as a farm laborer.

Mr. Martinez is survived by his sisters, Teresa Gavino of Texas, Francisca Briseno of Mexico, Maria Gavino of Arizona and Josefina Gavino of Fairfield; and brothers, Salvador Gavino of Fairfield, Luis Gavino of Mexico, Amado Gavino of Mexico, Francisco Gavino of Mexico, and Marcelo Gavino of Fairfield.

Patricia Ann Buonaiuto

There will be no services held for Patricia Ann Buonaiuto, 87, of Vacaville.

Mrs. Buonaiuto died Dec. 12, 2000, in her home after a long illness.

Born May 5, 1913, in Saberton, W.V., she lived in the area for 11 years. She owned a restaurant. She also enjoyed golf and needlepoint.

Mrs. Buonaiuto is survived by her husband, Carmine; son, Roger Davis; grandson, Jeremy Davis; granddaughter, Patricia Davis; and sister, Mary Dilarete. She was preceded in death by both parents, five brothers and two sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements were handled by Vaca Hills Chapel.

Loraine Kay Edwards

A memorial service for Loraine Kay Edwards, 39, of Maxwell will be 10 a.m. today at the Maxwell Assembly of God Church. Inurnment will be private.

Mrs. Edwards died Dec. 14, 2000, in her home in Maxwell after a long illness.

Born Aug. 26, 1961, in Vallejo, she lived in Maxwell for the past nine years. She was a "working cowgirl" and also had worked at the Maxwell Grammar School while her children attended. She was also a member of the Cattle Association.

Mrs. Edwards is survived by her husband of 18 years, James Leroy of Maxwell; daughter, Amanda of Maxwell; son, Tyler of Maxwell; mother and stepfather, Sue and Les Solaro of Vacaville; brothers, Mike Benthien of Hyampon, Rick Benthien of Maxwell and Andrew Benthien of Suisun City; sister, Cathi Benthien of Fairfield; and grandfather, J.R. Farris of Yorba Linda. She also has numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Bud Benthien, in 1998, and her grandmother, Allene Farris, in 1988.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 1652 W. Texas St., Suite 110, Fairfield, 94533.

Marion P. Hubbard

A funeral for Marion P. Hubbard, 98, of Vacaville will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Solid Rock Church of God, Vacaville.

Pastor Randal Bailey will preside. Interment will follow at the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.

Mrs. Hubbard died Dec. 13, 2000, in Vacaville.

Born Dec. 30, 1901, in Buckingham County, Va., she resided in Vacaville for the past 15 years. She retired at the age of 80 as a registered nurse and was a minister's wife. She was active in church piano and choir. She was a member of the Solid Rock Church of God and read the Bible cover to cover 47 times in her lifetime.

Mrs. Hubbard is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sara Sue and Larry Terrell of Vacaville; grandchildren, Michael C. Megel of Florida, John L. Patrick of Vacaville, Diane Walker and William Allen Austin, both of Las Vegas, and Lorraine Thompson of Dallas, Texas; and many grandchildren.

Arrangements were handled by McCune Garden Chapel.

Claris Lee Brewster

A funeral for Claris Lee Brewster, 75, of Suisun will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bryan-Braker Funeral Home. Interment will be private at Suisun-Fairfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Brewster died Dec. 15, 2000, at NorthBay Medical Center after a short illness.

Born Jan. 11, 1925, in Oklahoma City, she lived in Suisun for the past 30 years. She worked as a data processor for Safeway Stores for 23 years. She also volunteered at the Solano Food Closet, distributing food to the needy.

Mrs. Brewster is survived by her son, Lester Lee Wright, Jr., of West Palm Beach, Fla. She also has three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Charlie C. Goetz

A funeral for Charlie C. Geotz, 84, of Vacaville will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at McCune Garden Chapel. Interment will follow at the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the chapel.

Mr. Geotz died Dec. 15, 2000, in Vallejo.

Born Dec. 13, 1916, in Otterville, Mo., he lived in Vacaville for the past 47 years. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He worked at California Medical Facility as a vocational instructor of electronics before retiring after 20 years. He was an avid bass fisherman, and loved camping and playing the fiddle.

Mr. Geotz is survived by his wife of 59 years, Leota; daughter, Beverly K. Voorstad of Vacaville; daughter and son-in-law, Claudia and Ken Skewes of Reno; son, Jerry of Vacaville; grandchildren, Ryan Voorstad of Pleasant Hill, Michael and Joshua of Vacaville, and Allison, Andrea and Spencer Skewes of Reno; and brother, Frank Delbert of Missouri. He will be missed by his faithful companion, Boots the Cat.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Community Presbyterian Church, 425 Hemlock St., Vacaville 95688, or to the donor's favorite charity.
