Garland John Worden, 46, of Hollister, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at Stanford Medical Center after being hit by a car.
He was born icon in Merced, lived in Salinas for 25 years and in Hollister for 15 years. He was a supervisor with Pacific Coast Producers. He as a 1973 graduate of Palma High School and 1978 graduate of Chico State.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Anna Silveria and Garland and Nita Worden.

Memberships: Arnold Moose Lodge, Knights of Columbus and the Jaycees of Hollister.

Survivors: Wife, Martha Worden of Hollister; daughter, Renelle Navarro of Grand Prairie, Texas; son, Ryan Worden of Aptos; stepsons, Victor Meza and Jose Meza, both of Hollister; parents, Victor and Mary Ann Worden of Salinas; sisters, Edwina Worden of Hollister, Theresa Rainey of Tulare and Charlotte Theil of Salinas; brothers, James Worden and Steven Worden, both of Salinas, and Victor Worden II of Salinas; grandchildren, Maleena Navarro, Mariah Navarro and Christian Navarro, all of Grand Prairie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 1 to 9 p.m. today, Nov. 5, and Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas.

Services: Final visitation rites at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, followed by procession to St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 1702 Second Ave., Salinas, for the funeral Mass at 2 p.m.

Burial: Evergreen Cemetery, Merced.

Memorials: Palma High School, 919 Iverson Ave., Salinas 93901; Notre Dame High School, 455 Palma Drive, Salinas 93901; or Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).

Steven Price Robinson

Steven Price Robinson, 44, of Dawsonville, Ga., died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, in Dawsonville after an illness.
He was born icon in Salinas and lived in Salinas for 19 years before moving to Georgia 25 years ago. He was a 1975 graduate of North Salinas High School and attended Hartnell College and Mercer University. He worked in construction and operated a poultry farm with his father.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Price and Lois Robinson.

Survivors: Sister, Paula Robinson of Monterey; former wife, Salina Copeland of Dawsonville; and numerous aunts, cousins and friends.

Visitation: 1 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 6 at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas.

Services: 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 7 at the mortuary chapel.

Burial: Following at Garden of Memories Memorial Park, 768 Abbott St., Salinas.

Arrangements: Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas.

Celia M. Haas

Celia M. Haas, 68, of Salinas, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at Skyline Care Center after a long illness.
She was born icon in Bakersfield and had lived in the Salinas area and Watsonville for 58 years. She was a librarian for the U.S. government for 15 years. She loved the outdoors and animals and had a pet parrot she raised from an egg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence Haas.

Survivors: Sons, Robert (Lisa) Haas of Salinas, Laurence Haas of Moss Landing, and Edward Haas of Rancho Cordova; daughter, Georgie (Tom) Cargile of Redding; brother, David Chrisman of Hemet; and six grandchildren.

Services: No services are planned.

Cremation: Private with placement of ashes (with her husband) at Castroville cemetery, Moss Landing at a later date.

Memorials: The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Monterey County, P.O. Box 3058, Monterey, 93942; Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, 957-A Blanco Circle, Salinas 93901; or donor's favorite charity.

Arrangements: Whitehurst Muller Funeral Service, East Alisal Street and Pajaro Street, Salinas.

Guadalupe De Santiago

Guadalupe De Santiago, 80, of Gonzales, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born icon July 22, 1921, in Mexico, and lived in Gonzales for 70 years. She was retired, last working with Maggio Produce Co.

Memberships: St. Theodore's Catholic Church.

Survivors: Husband of 65 years, Laurence De Santiago of Gonzales; daughters, Gloria Carranza and Georgia Chavez, both of Salinas; sons, Gilbert De Santiago of Montana and Gabriel De Santiago of Gonzales; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services: Private family memorial services.

Placement of ashes: Private at Gonzales cemetery.

Arrangements: Struve and Laporte Funeral Home, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas.

Jimmie C. Garcia Sr.

Jimmie C. Garcia Sr., 76, of Salinas, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born icon Jan. 3, 1925, in Watertown, Oahu, Hawaii, and lived in Salinas for 74 years. He was retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber and Salinas Valley Ford. He graduated from Salinas High School in 1943 and lettered in track, basketball, football and volleyball and set an unofficial world record in the 50-yard dash. He was a member of one of the first Filipino families in Salinas. One of his joys was being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed playing bingo.

His son, Jimmie Garcia Jr., preceded him in death in 1993.

Military service: Veteran of World War II, U.S. Army Counter Intelligence, 2nd Infantry serving in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands.

Memberships: Member and usher at Madonna del Sasso Catholic Church and American Legion Post 31.

Survivors: Wife of 55 years, Felicidad Garcia of Salinas; daughters, Susan Mante of Salinas, Pearl Drew of Kampala, Uganada, and Felicia Starkey of Santa Clarita; brother, Sammy Garcia of Pacific Grove; sisters, Virginia Randall of El Cerrito, Rose de Lemos, Marjorie Andrade of Santa Rosa and Evelyn Amen of Newark; grandchildren, Melissa Mante of Burbank, Bradley Mante, Stephen Mante and Douglas Drew, all of Salinas, April Garcia of Sacramento, and Nicholas Starkey and Kyle Starkey, both of Santa Clarita; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at Struve and Laporte Funeral Chapel, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas.

Vigil service: 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at the mortuary chapel.

Mass: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Madonna del Sasso Church, 320 E. Laurel Drive, Salinas.

Burial: Following at Garden of Memories Memorial Park, 768 Abbott St., Salinas.

Ed Tregenza

Ed Tregenza, 78, of Salinas, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
He was born icon Dec. 19, 1922, in Salinas and was a lifelong resident. He was a motorcycle officer for the Salinas Police Department in 1948 and was the retired owner and operator of Globe Real Estate for 40 years in Salinas. He graduated from Salinas High School in 1941 and recently attended his 60-year reunion. He was a well-known public speaker in the Salinas Valley and worked at Soledad Prison as a speech director in rehabilitation. He also taught diving at the YMCA for 15 years. He was a former member of the Clown Association and performed at past Como del Rodeo parades and the California Rodeo, along with many other local events.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Arthur Tregenza, stepmother, Margaret Tregenza, brother, Art Tregenza, and sisters, Edna Ellis and Mary Vinton Tregenza.

Military service: Navy World War II veteran and was stationed at Pearl Harbor during the attack in 1941.

Memberships: St. Paul's Episcopal Church where he was a member of the Vestry, head usher and a lay reader and was involved with youth activities, International Toastmasters and former Distinguished Toastmaster.

Survivors: Longtime companion, Holly Hess of Salinas; daughters, Linda (Tom) Green of Clovis and Christy (Bob) Gordon of Stockton; son, Patrick Tregenza of Monterey; sisters, Marian Cater of Cottonwood, Ariz., Leona Smith of Salinas; brother, Vinton Tregenza of Fort Dodge, Iowa; grandsons, Russell Gordon, Nicholas Gordon, Scott Green and Harrison Tregenza; granddaughter, Jennifer Reisinger; two great-grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1071 Pajaro St., Salinas.

Cremation: Garden of Memories Memorial Park, 768 Abbott St., Salinas.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 4760, Salinas 93912-4760.

Anselmo 'Meluco' Ramos

Anselmo "Meluco" Ramos, 47, of Salinas, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at Natividad Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
He was born icon Dec. 25, 1953, in CD, Juarez, Mexico, and lived in Salinas for 30 years. He was a plumber.

Survivors: Wife, Victoria Ramos of Salinas; son, Manuel Ramos of Salinas; daughter, Veronica Ramos of Gonzales; stepdaughter, Nicolette Rodriguez of Texas; stepson, Joe R. Torres of Salinas; father, Anselmo Gonzales of Juarez, Mexico; mother, Sofia Ramos of Salinas; brothers, Jesus Ramos of Juarez and Ernesto Gonzales of Salinas; daughter-in-law, Diana Ramos of Salinas; and three grandchildren.

Visitation: 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, and 5 to 9 p.m., Monday, Nov. 12, at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas.

Services: 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at the mortuary chapel.

Committal service: Graveside service 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Garden of Memories Memorial Park, 768 Abbott St., Salinas.

Duane Ralph Andersen

Duane Ralph Andersen, 88, of Medford, Ore., died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2001, at Hearthstone in Medford, Ore.
He was born icon in Richfield, Utah, and had lived in Calistoga from 1989 to 2001. He was an instructor in welding for the Soledad Correctional Facility in Soledad and retired in 1978. He enjoyed playing golf.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Andersen, a brother and two sisters.

Memberships: Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; Elks Lodge.

Survivors: Sons, Ronald Andersen of Medford, Ore., and Artie Andersen of Woodacre; seven grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.

Services: Memorial services will be officiated by David Hughes at noon Monday, Nov. 19, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2222 Spring St., Saint Helena.

Memorials: National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Northern California Chapter, 150 Grand Ave., Oakland 94612.

Florita Bacon Bicoy

Florita Bacon Bicoy, 73, of Salinas, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, at Natividad Medical Center following a brief illness.
She was born icon in Maui, Hawaii, and had lived in Salinas for 16 years. She was a shed worker for Dole Packing. She was a volunteer with the Senior Citizens Council in Salinas and a lay minister at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her son, Edgar Bicoy.

Memberships: Fil-American Association, Salinas; St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Survivors: Daughters, Evelyn Kimmel, Helen Castillo, Ana Javillo and Marlyn Bicoy, all of Salinas; sisters, Beatrice Yngoc and Rose Benting, both of Salinas; brothers, Emelio and George Bacon of the Philippines; 17 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 1 to 7 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 11; 1 to 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 12, at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas.

Rosary-Vigil: 5 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 11, at the mortuary chapel.

Services: Friends and family may gather at the mortuary chapel at 9 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13, for final visitation rites, then follow in procession to St. Mary of the Nativity Church for the funeral Mass, beginning at 10 a.m.

Burial: Will follow services at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damian Way, Salinas.

Phillip O. Garcia Sr.

Phillip O. Garcia, 75, of Salinas, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
He was born icon in Caliptria and was a laborer for Granite Construction Co. for 30 years. He was a long-distance runner at a later stage in his life. He volunteered at Hartnell Community College track meets. He loved baseball and was an avid San Francisco Giants fan. He was a cat lover.

Memberships: Salinas Athletic Club; Laborer's Union Local 297 for 30 years.

Survivors: Wife of 52 years, Audrey Garcia of Salinas; sons, Phillip Garcia Jr., Frank Garcia and Manuel Garcia, all of Salinas; daughters, Pia Lundstrom of Salinas, Valentine Garcia of Sacramento and Audrey Garcia of Salinas; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 12, at Whitehurst Muller Chapel, East Alisal and Pajaro streets, Salinas.

Cremation: Held at Garden of Memories Memorial Park, 768 Abbott St., Salinas.

Inurnment of Ashes: Will be placed at a later date.
