Am N. Trac, 91, of Salinas, died of natural causes Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at her home.
She was born icon Dec. 24, 1909, in Canton, China, and lived in Salinas for 21 years. She was a homemaker for 75 years and an excellent seamstress.

Her son, Dien Tran, preceded her in death in February.

Survivors: Daughters, Muoi Diep of Salinas and Buu H. Tran of Vietnam; daughter-in-law, Hong Tran of Salinas; and grandsons, Dac Tran and Trach Tran, both of Salinas.

Visitation: 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Struve and Laporte Funeral Home, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas.

Services: Graveside services 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Garden of Memories Memorial Park, 768 Abbott St., Salinas.

James Randall Hall

James Randall Hall, 82, of Paso Robles, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at Twin Cities Community Hospital.
He was born icon July 5, 1917, in Blythe and moved to Paso Robles in 1919. He started with Pacific Gas & Electric Co. in 1943 as a meter reader and worked his way up to district electrical superintendent. He celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary with his wife, Marjorie, this year. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, hunting, being outdoors, playing bridge, and grafting fruit trees. He entered his award-winning apples in fairs. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Alice A. Hall, and four brothers.

Survivors: Wife, Marjorie Hall of Paso Robles; daughters, Peggy Foster of Modesto, Carrie (George) Sabolish of Mountain View; sister, Agnes Engle of Santa Barbara; grandchildren, Steven Foster of Chico, Jennifer Foster of San Francisco, Amanda Sabolish and Mike Sabolish of Mountain View.

Services: 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, at Kuehl-Nicolay Funeral Home.

Burial: Paso Robles District Cemetery.

Memorials: Alzheimer's Association or Parkinson's Association.

Samuel William Dennis

Corvallis, Mont.

Samuel William Dennis, 85, of Corvallis, Mont., died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at MDH-Hospice Center in Hamilton.
He was born icon Nov. 18, 1916, in Pompey's Pillar, Mont., was raised by his mother's family in Kenyon, Minn., for several years before returning to Montana. He lived in Chualar before moving to North River, Wash., and finally back to Montana. He later worked for a large ranch in Chualar. When he returned to Montana he purchased Sunrise "11" Ranch near Drummond, Mont., where he worked for 23 years, raising beef cattle, horses and mules before moving to Bitterroot Valley in 1982.

His happiest times were on horseback, whether moving cattle, packing out salt, checking fence lines and springs or roping calves. He drove a matched team of sorrel mules at his ranch for years and was proud of his legacy he passed on to his son, Bill, who ranches near Philipsburg, Mont. He will be remembered for his great stories, quick wit, sense of humor and cowboy ways.

His wife, Corolyn, preceded him in death Oct. 6, 2001.

Military service: U.S. Army, serving at Fort Ord where he reached the rank of corporal and was a veterinarian specialist. He also taught nurses how to ride.

Survivors: Children, Sharon (Ken) Fillbach of Nevada, Mo., Bill (Jeannie) Dennis of Philipsburg, Mont., and Terry Dennis of Corvallis; grandchildren, Holli Fillbach, Misty Fillbach, Kate Fillbach and Rich Fillbach, all of Nevada, Mo., Sam Dennis and Megan Dennis, both of Philipsburg, and Carla Dennis, Samantha Dennis and Tracy Dennis of Corvallis; five great-grandchildren; and two nephews and one niece.

Services: Memorial services 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at Community Church in Corvallis. Graveside services 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at New Chicago Cemetery, Hall, Mont.

Memorials: MDH- Hospice of the Bitterroot, 1200 Westwood Drive, Hamilton, Mont. 59840.

Arrangements: Daly-Leach Chapel.

Teodoro S. Martinez

Salinas

Teodoro S. Martinez, 67, of Salinas, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare Center following an illness.
He was born icon April 8, 1934, in Laredo, Texas, and lived in Salinas for 20 years. He was a laborer with Souza Construction.

Survivors: Wife, Juanita Martinez of Salinas; daughters, Marie Lenzi of Bakersfield and Sara Guzman of Salinas; sons, Teodoro Martinez Jr. of Stockton, Rodolfo Martinez of Pleasanton, Paul Martinez of Salinas and Henry Martinez of Gonzales; 11 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 1 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at First United Pentecostal Church, 1327 E. Alisal St., Salinas.

Burial: Following at Garden of Memories Memorial Park, 768 Abbott St., Salinas.

Jose J. Bermudez

Salinas

Jose J. Bermudez, 49, of Salinas, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at Natividad Medical Center following an illness.
He was born icon Aug. 25, 1952, in Mexico and lived in Salinas for 30 years. He was a machine operator with S.C.I. Systems.

Survivors: Wife, Maria Martha Bermudez of Salinas; sisters, Maria Elena Bermudez, Yolanda Rena and Maria Guadalupe Baker, all of Chicago, and Maricela Solis of Mexico; and brothers, Marco Antonio Bermudez of Watsonville, Arturo Bermudez and Roberto Bermudez, both of Chicago, and Gilberto Bermudez of Indio.

Visitation: 1 to 5 p.m. today, Dec. 19, at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas.

Services: 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Templo Rosa de Saron, 826 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas.

Burial: Panteon Municipal de Zinapecuaro, Michoacán, Mexico.

Ada V. Wells

Castroville

Ada V. Wells, 94, of Castroville, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare Center following a brief illness.
She was born icon Oct. 24, 1907, in Prunedale and was a lifelong resident of the Castroville area. She enjoyed working in her garden and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, and daughter, Georgia Abbot.

Memberships: Prunedale Grange No. 388, Larriet Swingers, Monterey Bay Mineral Society and North Monterey County Mothers Club.

Survivors: Son, Willis Wells of Elkhorn; brother, Lawson Hambey of Castroville; granddaughter, Susan Abbot Springer of Elkhorn; two great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation: noon to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at Struve and Laporte Funeral Home, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas.

Services: noon Friday, Dec. 21, at the mortuary chapel.

Burial: Hamby cemetery in Castroville.

Ernesto Torres

Castroville

Ernesto Torres, 21, of Castroville, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, in Sonora following an automobile accident.
He was born icon July 12, 1980, in Patzimaro, Michoacán, Mexico, and lived in Castroville for 16 years. He was a technician with Air Design Inc.

Survivors: Parents, Celestino and Alisa Torres of Castroville; and five brothers and three sisters.

Visitation: 5 to 9 p.m. today, Dec. 19, and 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas.

Rosary: 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at Our Lady of Refuge Church, 11140 Preston St., Castroville.

Mass: 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at the church.

Burial: Following at Castroville district cemetery, Moss Landing.

Richard Lee Fisher

Richard Lee Fisher, 53 of Salinas, died of cancer on Tuesday June 5, 2001, at Hospice House in Monterey.
He was born icon in Los Angeles, and lived in Salinas for 29 years. He was a graduate of Linwood High School. He was self-employed in the water purification business; formally he had worked as a hydrologist for the Monterey County Water Resources Agency. He enjoyed flying very much. He also enjoyed boating, camping, cooking and most of all spending time with his family and friends.

Memberships: He was a member of the Vineyard Christian Fellowship, Salinas, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Commercial and Private Pilot.

Survivors: Daughters, Cassandra Janette Fisher of Sacramento, Jessica Fisher Pacheco of Rocklin; mother and father, Delma and Hank Fisher of St. Petersburg, Fla.; brother Steve Fisher of St. Petersburg, Fla.; grandson, Richard Fisher of Sacramento; granddaughter, Breeana Pacheco of Rocklin; girlfriend, Kim Benoit of Salinas, and her daughter, Allison Benoit; also nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services: Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9, in the Vineyard Christian Fellowship Salinas, 1122 E Alisal St. Cremation was held.

Memorials: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 675 N. First St. S.W. 1000, San Jose 95112-5156 or Hospice House, P.O. Box 1798, Monterey 93942.

Joseph P. Schmidt

Joseph P. Schmidt, 55, of Monterey, died of natural causes Monday, June 4, 2001, at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula.
He was born icon in Milwaukee and lived in Monterey County for 17 years. He was a commercial business loan broker, self-employed for 30 years. He also was a recent board member of Monterey Chamber of Commerce, Center for American Language Studies, branch vice president Home Savings and Loan, chairman Venture Partners, president of Benjamin Financial Co.

Military service: Navy.

Survivors: Wife, Chong Ok Pac-Schmidt of Monterey; son, Benjamin Schmidt of Monterey; mother, Mary Schmidt of Huntington Beach; brother, Gregory Schmidt of Woodinville, Wash.; sisters, Roberta J. Carlile of Fountain Valley, Frances Jones of Monterey and Kristen Thibault of Atlanta; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, June 8, at Mission Mortuary, 450 Camino El Estero, Monterey.

Mass: Memorial Mass 11 a.m. Friday, June 8, at Carmel Mission.

Cremation: Soquel Crematory.

Placement of ashes: San Carlos Cemetery at a later date.

Robert Lawrence Wilson

Robert Lawrence Wilson, 93, of Salinas, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at his home.
He was born icon in Kansas and moved to Salinas from Richmond in 1932 to start his pro career at the Salinas Golf and Country Club, where he was golf pro for 15 years. In 1947, he left the club and took over the city driving range next to the California Rodeo Grounds.

When the city opened Salinas Fairways golf course in 1957, he became the first head pro at the course, considered one of the top 10 municipal courses in California. He retired from the course. During his many years in Salinas, he taught hundreds of people the game of golf, a labor he totally enjoyed. His five siblings, and his wife, Margaret Anne Wilson, preceded him in death, in 1995.

Memberships: Professional Golfer's Association of America, Elks Club of Salinas and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survivors: Daughters, Gini Luttrell of Laclede, Idaho, Nancy Wilson Jones of Soledad and Margy Bayouth of Ashland, Ore.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, June 8, at Whitehurst Muller Funeral Service, East Alisal and Pajaro streets, Salinas.

Rosary: 7 p.m. Friday, June 8, at the mortuary.

Services: 9 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at Sacred Heart Church, 22 Stone St., Salinas.

Sidney Wimber

Sidney Wimber, 88, of San Luis Obispo, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, in San Luis Obispo after a lengthy illness.
He was born icon in Hanford, lived in Salinas and Monterey for 20 years and in San Luis Obispo for the past year and a half. He delivered milk for Foremost Dairy Co. for 30 years before his retirement. He lived with his sister at the Village.

Military service: World War II Army veteran, serving in Germany.

Memberships: St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church in Salinas and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 8679, Seaside.

Survivors: Son, Don Wimber of Watsonville; sisters, Mary Steiner of San Luis Obispo and Grace Raine of Walnut Creek; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 10, at Struve and Laporte Funeral Chapel, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 11, at the mortuary chapel.

Burial: Garden of Memories Memorial Park, 768 Abbott St., Salinas.

Memorials: Donor's favorite charity.
