Dorinda R. Freeman
1913-2004

A celebration of life was held in La Mirada on Nov. 13 for Dorinda R. Freeman.

Born in Illinois on April 27, 1913, Dorinda died on Oct. 28, 2004 at Flagstaff Medical Center at the age of 91.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to all those she came in contact with.
Dorinda was a beautician for more than 40 years and a devout Catholic.
She spent her later years caring for her mother, father and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister and one son.

She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Byron and Connie Southey of Arizona, Alan and Brenda Southey of Arizona, David Southey of Independence and Gary Freeman of Pacifica; grandchildren, Laura and Randy Piper and David Southey of Independence, Alicia and Abby Southey of Lone Pine, Cheryl Southey of Arizona, Sheila and Larry Larson of Rosemead, Rick, Rob and Ron Southey of Arizona, David and Tony Freeman of Joshua Tree and Mark, Matt and Mike Nelson of Los Angeles; great-grandchildren, Christopher Jeffery of Independence, David Winter of Santa Barbara, Tyler Romero of Lone Pine and many great-grandchildren and family.

Marjory May Morris
1924-2004

A graveside funeral service will be held at East Line Street Cemetery at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19 for 35-year Bishop resident Marjory May Morris. Pastor Chris Costello will officiate the service.
Visitation will be on Thursday, Nov. 18 from 6-8 p.m. at the Brune & Buck Mortuary.

Born in Buena Vista,  Colo. on May 3, 1924, Marjory died on Nov. 14, 2004 at Northern Inyo Hospital in Bishop.
She was 80.

In 1972 Marjory became the first female member of Search & Rescue.
She was also a member of the women's softball team and a member and dispatcher of the Benton Fire Department.

She is survived by her husband, Robert K. Morris of Bishop; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Mary Morris of Bishop; brother and sister-in-law, Chuck and Betty Potterville of Chalfant Valley; sister, June Phillips of Ontario; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Joe Anderson of Atascadero; grandchildren, Shawna and Loren Kane, Joel and Tamalyn Cabezuela, Aaron and Andrea Morris, Ronald and Mitsie Morris and Brian and Nikki Macarelle and family.

Donations in Marjory's name may be made to a charity of one's choosing.

Lennelle Ann Nelson
1921-2004

No funeral services will be held for 20-year Bishop resident Lennelle Ann Nelson.
Interment will be private.

Born in St. Louis, Mo. on Oct. 16, 1921, Lennelle died on Nov. 8, 2004 at the Bishop Care Center.
She was 83.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Sharon Phelps of Bishop; grandchildren, Julie Russell and Rick Phelps; brothers, Bob Helms of Honolulu, Hawaii and Bert Helms of Phoenix, Ariz.; and great-grandchildren, Bri, Hany and Renee Phelps.

Adolph Reinhardt
1914-2004

Interment will be private at the East Line Street Cemetery for former 11-year Bishop resident Adolph Reinhardt.

Born in Switzerland on June 28, 1914, Adolph died on Nov. 13, 2004 at Desert Regional Hospital in Palm Springs. He was 90.

He is survived by his wife, Tsuyoe Reinhardt of Desert Hot Springs; and sister, Gertrude Kimpton of Las Vegas, Nev.

John Dale Kinzy
1924-2004

Memorial services will be held in the Home Economics Building at the Tri-County Fairgrounds on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 11 a.m. for 49-year Bishop resident John Dale Kinzy.

John was born in Camo,  Colo. on Sept. 21, 1924.

He died at his home on Sept. 26, 2004 after a lengthy illness. He was 80.

At the age of one he moved from Camo,  Colo. to Burbank and attended schools there.

He started college, but left and joined the United States Marines in 1942.

He served for four years, stationed in the South Pacific on the Marshall Islands.

Upon returning home, John went back to college in Santa Barbara and graduated in 1951.

He started teaching Industrial Arts in Dinuba, then in Lemoore.

Due to having Valley Fever, in 1955 John moved to Bishop; where he taught wood shop, metal shop, drafting and driver training.

He retired in 1981.

One of his greatest pleasures in the 1970s was his boxing program.

Most of the boxers were Native Americans.

He always thought they were as skilled as any young boxer in the country.

He was active in the Masonic Lodge for 45 years, and served as master in 1965.

He received the Hirman award, the highest honor in the Masonic Lodge, for service in 1994.

John loved horses and enjoyed roping for many years.

In later years he went every day to Hing's Donut Shop to have coffee with the boys.

John lived in Bishop for almost 50 years and married Ina Wilt in 1950.

They had five children, who all graduated from Bishop schools.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Ethel Kinzy; brother, William Frank Kinzy; and his son, Edward Dale Kinzy.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ina; son and daughter-in-law, William and Tammy Kinzy; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Larry Nelson, Kristy and Brian Cunningham and Karen and Doug Clair; grandchildren, Brandon Nelson, Wesley Nelson, Kady Nelson, Jeanni Schoeman, Jeri Ganci, Nathan Kinzy, Gaylene Kinzy Comonotofski and her husband Dale; and Dennis Cleland.

Donations in John's memory may be made to the Hospice of the Owens Valley, 155 Pioneer Ln., Bishop, CA 93514.

Jose D. Cervantes
1927-2004

A Holy Rosary will be said at Santa Rosa Catholic Church in Lone Pine on Monday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. for Lone Pine resident Jose D. Cervantes.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 10 a.m., followed by burial at the Mt. Whitney Cemetery in Lone Pine.

Jose was born on Jan. 19, 1927 in Durango, Mexico and died on Sept. 23, 2004 in Loma Linda.

He came to California at the age of 25 and settled in Lone Pine.

He worked as a carpenter for Inyo Builders and later for Lone Pine Construction Co.

He married Elvira Diaz in 1950.

He is survived by his wife, Elvira; son and daughter-in-law, Jaime and Camille Cervantes of Lone Pine; son and daughter-in-law, Commander Jose, Jr. and Kristin Cervantes of Manassas, Va.; three brothers, Jesus Cervantes of Victorville, Ignacio Cervantes of Mexico and Baltazar Cervantes of Mexico; and four grandchildren, Marina Cervantes, Mito Cervantes, Nina Cervantes and Mia Cervantes.

Raymond Gene Kennedy
1930-2004

Memorial services will be held at the Garden Funeral Home in Fallon, Nev. at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25 for 12-year Fallon resident Raymond Gene Kennedy.

Raymond was born on Oct. 30, 1930 in Death Valley and died in Reno, Nev.

He lived in Barstow for 20 years before relocating to Fallon.

A member of the Timbisha Tribe, U.S. Army and NRA, Raymond worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for more than 20 years as a machinist.

He also worked as a mechanic at several different shops. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

Raymond was preceded in death by his mother, Maryann; brothers, Harry, Herbert and Equal; sister, Nellie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his wife, Christine; stepdaughter, Cheryl; two step-grandchildren, Tina and Marcella; three step-great-grandchildren; brother, John Kennedy of Fish Lake Valley; and his sister, Evelyn James of Death Valley.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
