Daniel R. Lester, 49, of Modesto died Thursday at his home.
Mr. Lester was a native of Oregon. He lived in Modesto 17 years. He was a forklift operator. He formerly worked for Tri Valley Growers. He was a veteran of the Navy. He was a member of the Teamsters union.
He is survived by his children, Thomas Lester of Washington and Matthew Lester of Bakersfield; parents, Thomas and Vivian Lester of Modesto; brother, David Lester of Twain Harte; sister, Victoria Trujillo of Simi Valley; and three grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Acacia Memorial Park. Cunningham's Affordable Burial & Cremation Centers in charge of arrangements.

Robert L. Sciutto
May 10, 1949 -- Nov. 20, 1999
Robert Louis Sciutto, 50, of Modesto died Saturday at Memorial Medical Center.
Mr. Sciutto was a lifelong resident of Modesto. He was a mechanic for Del Monte for 28 years. He was a member of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by his father, Albert Sciutto of Modesto.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Pioneer Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel.
Loralei Lamar
July 14, 1938 -- Nov. 18, 1999
Loralei Lamar, 61, of Modesto died Thursday at Doctors Medical Center.
Mrs. Lamar was a native of Carterville, Ill. She lived in Modesto 15 years. She was a homemaker. She belonged to the First Baptist Church in Carterville.
She is survived by her children, Robert S. McCree of Carbondale, Ill., Terry W. McCree of Texas, Brian K. McCree of Oregon, Greg McCree of Herrin, Ill., and Mary McCree of Richmond, Va.; mother, Beatrice Tanner of Carterville, Ill.; brother, Thomas S. Tanner of Herrin, Ill.; sisters, Deborah Jenkins of Cartersville, Ga., Geraldine Hiller of El Dorado, Ill., and Elizabeth McPheron of Carterville, Ill.; and nine grandchildren and one great- grandchild.
Graveside services will be held in Illinois. Eaton Family Funeral & Cremation Service in charge of arrangements.
Irene A. Leedom
Oct. 14, 1902 -- Nov. 21, 1999
Irene A. Leedom, 97, of Angels Camp died Sunday at Tuolumne General Hospital in Sonora.
Mrs. Leedom was a native of Angels Camp. She lived in Tuolumne County nearly 70 years. She was a secretary for Pickering Lumber Co. for 17 years. She also worked for Eagle Shawmut Mine and at Red Stombough's Arrow Glass in Vacaville.
She is survived by nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchild- ren.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery. Terzich & Wilson Funeral Home of Sonora in charge of arrangements.
Lowell R. Carlson
Oct. 3, 1931 -- Nov. 22, 1999
Lowell R. Carlson, 68, of Copperopolis died Monday at his home.
Mr. Carlson was a native of Leaf Mountain Township, Minn. He lived in Copperopolis seven years. He was a carpenter for 40 years; he worked in residential and commercial construction. He was a volunteer with the Calaveras County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of the Swedish Lodge, Stockton and Sacramento.
He is survived by his children, Debbie Van Backern and Dawn Graham, both of Minneapolis; brothers, Reuben Carlson of Copperopolis and David Carlson of Eureka; sister, Elsie Johnson of Seattle and Eunice Van Valenberg of Vancouver, Wash.; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Copperopolis Evangelical Free Church. Burial will be at Linnea Mission Covenant Cemetery, Leaf Mountain Township. Angels Memorial Chapel, Angels Camp, in charge of arrangements.
Richard A. Duarte
Aug. 10, 1951 -- Feb. 13, 2000
Richard Alfred Duarte, 48, of Lathrop died Sunday at the University of California Medical Center, Sacramento.
Mr. Duarte was a native of Stockton. He lived in Lathrop 26 years. He was a foreman for Newark Sierra Paper Products Corp., Stockton. He was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Duarte of Lathrop; children, Kendra Kennedy of Manteca and Christina Duarte of Lathrop; father and stepmother, Al and Rosemary Duarte of Burson; stepbrother, Robert Raredon of Washington; sisters, Lisa Duarte of Antelope and Janice Roybal of Kentucky; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Manteca. Private burial. No visitation. P.L. Fry & Son Chapel, Manteca, in charge of arrangements.
Nanette J. Taylor
Oct. 27, 1970 -- Feb. 12, 2000
Nanette Jacquelin Taylor, 29, of Turlock died Saturday at Sierra Vista Hospital, San Luis Obispo.
Mrs. Taylor was a native of Patterson. She lived in Turlock three years. She owned Taylor Jersey's Dairy and was a partner in D&E Jersey's Dairy. She was a bookkeeper for D&E Jersey's Dairy. She was a 4-H Club leader in arts and crafts. She was a graduate of Hilmar High School, Hilmar.
She is survived by her husband, Chris Brian Taylor of Turlock; son, Wyatt Robert Taylor of Turlock; parents, Don and Elsa Sherman of Hilmar; sister, Jennifer Maria Avila of Hilmar; and grandparents, Estella Macias of Newman and Ruth Sherman of Turlock.
A funeral will be at noon Friday at Allen Mortuary. Burial will be at North Hilmar Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to noon Friday at the mortuary.

James I. Stepans

James Ivan Stepans, 46, of Modesto died Wednesday at home.
Mr. Stepans was a native of Hamadan, Iran. He lived in Modesto 21 years. He was a truck driver for Ryder Integrated Logistics for three years. He was a member of the Assyrian Evangelical Church, Turlock.
He is survived by his parents, Ivan and Lucy Stepans of Turlock; brothers, Joseph Stepans of Laramie, Wyo., Yooash Stepans of Turlock and Isaac Stepans of Modesto; and sister, Florence Szi of Modesto.
A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Assyrian Evangelical Church, Turlock. Burial will follow at Turlock Memorial Park, Turlock. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday at Whitehurst Norton & Dias Chapel, Turlock.
Roy F. Parmley
Jan. 10, 1934 -- Feb. 19, 2000
Roy F. Parmley, 66, of Ceres died Saturday at his home.
Mr. Parmley was a native of Duncan, Okla. He lived in Ceres 34 years. He was a mechanic, working in civil service, at Castle Air Force Base, Atwater, for 25 years. He was an Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia "Patty" Parmley of Ceres; children, William L. Parmley, Jack Ray Parmley and Brenda L. Lawrence, all of Ceres; brothers, Jack Parmley of Tucson, Ariz., and Jim Parmley of Milwaukee; sisters, Millie Fondren of Bakersfield, Helen Walker of Turlock and Jenny McGuire of Chehalis, Wash.; and nine grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Ceres Memorial Park. No public visitation. The Colonial Chapel of Franklin & Downs, Modesto, in charge of arrangements.
