Robert H. Brooks passed away Saturday, June 26, 2004 at his home in Winters, California. He was born in La Plata, New Mexico on July 8, 1920 to Bert and Avis Brooks. He was 83 years old.
Robert, or Bobby as he was known to family and friends, served in the Navy during World War II and extended his military career by serving in the U. S. Air Force for 16 years, retiring in 1964. Upon leaving the military he settled in Davis, California and spent 16 years working for the Yolo County Probation Department.
Bobby was a loving husband to his wife of 31 years, Bernadine Giraud, and a caring father to his three sons, Clay, Kim and Brent and his stepson Michael Giraud. He enjoyed country living, open spaces and being in the company of friends and relatives. In his retirement years he and his wife boarded horses, tended goats and chickens, and cared for numerous dogs and cats on their property in the foothills outside of Winters. Bobby loved reading, bar-b-ques, Solitaire, and playing Mahjong on his computer. He was a longtime fan of U. C. Davis Aggie football and the Sacramento Kings basketball team. Bobby will be missed for his dry humor, kidding nature, and gentle spirit.
Along with his wife and sons, Bobby leaves behind brothers Stanley and Ray, and a sister, Kay. Grandsons Jason, Daniel and Toby, and step Granddaughter, Samantha also survive him. Numerous loving great grandchildren as well as many other relatives and friends also mourn his passing.
A graveside service for Bobby was given at the Davis Cemetary on Friday, July 9, 2004.
Thomas Rojas died unexpectedly on Sunday July 18, 2004 in Sacramento California. Born on July 27, 1961 in Guam, he was 42 years old.
Thomas has been a resident of Winters for the past 30 years. He is survived by his children Nikoli Perry and Makayla Lee Rojas, his brothers: Francisco Rojas and wife Brigette of Germany, Gerald Rojas and wife Josephine of Guam, Peter Rojas and wife Carmen of Hawaii, Anthony Rojas of Woodland, Raymond Rojas and wife Lena of Guam; sisters: Teresita Heston of Saipan, Margaret Brice and husband Carwin of Winters, Lourdes Palomo and husband Phil of Guam, Rosa Lucero and husband Frank of Winters, Maria Rojas and dear friend Jane of Vacaville. He is further survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents Jose C. and Isabel S. N. Rojas, brother David Rojas and grandparents, Pedro and Neives Rojas, and Vincent and Consoli San Nicolas.
Viewing will be held on Monday, July 26, 2004 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 3rd and Main Street in Winters. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. followed by burial at the Winters Cemetary. Arrangements are under direction of Davis Funeral Chapel.
Margaret Roberta Crumpley entered into rest on Oct. 4, 2004. She and her twin brother, Clyde, were born on July 14, 1932 to Leah and Clyde Mann. She was raised and educated in Oakland, where she also became a baptized Christian.
In Sept. 1956, Margaret married Jimmie Crumpley, and they were blessed with two children, Jimmie Andrew and Cathleen Velma, who joined Sandra, a daughter from a previos marriage.
Margaret enjoyed many activities, but her favorite was spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Family and friends were invited to attend memorial services on Friday, Oct. 8, at Inspiration Chapel and Napa Valley Memorial Park, 2382 Napa-Vallejo Highway, Napa.

Charlene V. "Char" Trammel, 80, of Sparks, Nevada passed away on Oct. 5, 2004 at Washoe Medical Center. A native of Davis, Oklahoma, she was born on Nov. 14, 1923 to William L. Evans Sr. and Annie Parker Evans.
Charlene was a hair stylist, owning two beauty salons in Sparks. She was a resident of Sparks since 1965, moving there from Modesto.
She is survived by her daughter Lynell McClure of Sparks, son Richard Trammel of Reno, brother Bussie and sisters Velma and Johnny from the San Joaquin Valley, granddaughters Kathy Sebastian and husband Mike of Winters, Pam De La Rosa and husband Ben of Fremont; and Lynette McClure of Chico; great-grandchildren Lauren, Amber and Katie Sebastian of Winters, Alex, Rebecca and Samantha De La Rosa of Fremont and Jamie and Zachary Horne of Chico.
Private family services were held on Oct. 9 in the Nevada Mountains. Memorial donations can be made to the donor's favorite charity.
Mary Anna Berdollt of Winters passed away on Monday, Sept. 13, 2004 in Vacaville, following a short illness. Born on May 17, 1938, in Oklahoma, she was 66 years old.
Graveside services for Mrs. Berdollt were held on Friday, Sept. 17, 2004 at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery
in San Pablo.
Arrangements were handled by the Vaca Hills Chapel, 524 Elmira Road, in Vacaville.
Gorda Ott Hoobyar passed away on Sept. 16, 2004, after an extended illness. Gorda was born on Feb. 9, 1914 in Cashmere, Washington, to John and Anna Ott. She moved with her family to Live Oak, in 1918. Gorda graduated from Mt. Zion Hospital’s nurses training program in 1935 as a registered nurse. Her career culminated after 22 years working the student health center at San Francisco State University, from which she retired.
Gorda and her husband of 67 years, David Hoobyar, retired to the Winters area in 1979, residing at Pardehsa Acres. She was accomplished in handicrafts, including knitting, weaving, needlepoint and sewing and was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker in addition to her professional career.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, David; two children Corrinne Baker and Paul Hoobyar; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Gorda’s life will be held on Oct. 16, at the Pioneer Presbyterian Church. Family and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gorda’s name may be made to the Pioneer Presbyterian Church, 205 Russell Street, Winters, CA 95694, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Roy G. Manas passed away on Sept. 8, 2004 in Sacramento. Born on Oct. 2, 1918 in Vacaville, he was 85 years old.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia. He is also survived by his son Fred Manas (Alice), Esparto; daughters Judith Sinclair, of Sacramento and Patty Clark, of Winters. He had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be missed.
Friends are invited to attend a celebration of life service on Friday, Sept. 17, at 10 a.m. at the George L. Klumpp Chapel of Flowers, Riverside Boulevard and Second Avenue.
Remembrances are requested to be donated to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Isabel (Carrion) Felix of Woodland passed away on Friday, Oct. 6, 2006 at UC San Francisco Medical Center. Born on Jun 9, 1930 in Winters to Francisco and Anna Carrion, she was 76 years old.
Mrs. Felix was a lifelong Yolo County resident and a 1948 graduate of Winters High School. She worked in accounts payable at Contadina Foods for 44 years and also volunteered as a pink lady at Woodland Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Joseph Manuel Felix of Woodland; daughters, Laura Felix-Lopez and husband Albert, Roberta Hildebrandt and husband Donald, Victoria Contreras and husband Alfred, Cynthia Garcia, and Linda Felix Vidales and husband Fred, all of Woodland; son, Joseph Felix and wife Mary of Sacramento; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Ann Yarberry, brother Eusebio Carrion, brother-in-law Leon Yarberry and grandson Joseph Contreras.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 12, at 7 p.m. at McNary’s Chapel, 458 College Street, Woodland. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 13, at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 301 Walnut Street, Woodland. Interment will be at Monument Hill Memorial Park.
Lawrence Ramos, Sr. of Vacaville passed away following a lengthy illness on Oct. 7, 2006 at Kaiser Hospital in Vallejo. Born on Oct. 27, 1929 in his parents’ ranch house on Holmes Lane in Winters, he was 76 years old.
Mr. Ramos was born and raised in Winters, and was a 1947 graduate of Winters High School. He was a fruit farmer on his family ranch in Winters for more than 35 years. He delivered fuel for E.J. Franke Standard Oil Distibutor and later for B.C. Stocking in Winters. He was last employed as a supervisor crops farmer at the California Medical Facility in Vacaville, where he worked for 13 years before retiring in 1998.
He was an active member of the Elks Lodge in Vacaville and a prior member of the Lions Club in Winters. He loved woodworking, backyard barbecues and watching football. He is described by loved ones as “a talented man who could fix anything.”
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Reeta; son, Lawrence “Dean” Ramos; stepdaughter Linda Weddell Stall and husband Butch; stepson Gary Runow and wife Jill; sister, Anita Earl of Waterford; brother John Ramos of Winters; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
At Mr. Ramos’ request, no services have been planned and burial will be private. A no-host dinner will be celebrated in his honor at a later date.
