Matthew Doucette
Matthew Doucette, 43, of Banning passed away on Aug. 10, 2004.
Born Nov. 8, 1960 in Los Angeles, he has lived in Banning for the past 26 years.
He was self-employed for 15 years. He owned a pool maintenance company.
He is survived by his daughter, Valentina E. Doucette of Cabazon; brothers, John A. Doucette, Jr. of Palm Desert and Michael Doucette of Vacaville; sisters, Laurie L. Connelly of Los Angeles, Eliza L. Tetritz of Garden Grove, Cynthia L. Heggie of Palm Desert, Nicole L. Bulaich of Banning and Dominique L. Doucette of Banning.
Family and friends will gather on Aug. 21 at 11 a.m. at the Precious Blood Catholic Church in Banning.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Weaver Mortuary in Beaumont.

Raymond Paris Bales
Raymond Paris Bales, age 39, born in Riverside on Feb. 12, 1965 passed away on Sept. 27.
He attended Riverside schools and his last school was Banning High School.
He was a carpenter all his life and he loved to be with family and at barbeques. He enjoyed hiking and loved fishing and enjoyed swimming. He cared about family and looked forward to family reunions. He loved to hold long conversations over the telephone. He loved the great outdoors and nature.
He is survived by his parents, Paul and Bernice Bales of Banning; brothers, Paul Bales of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mark Bales of Banning and Bud Bales of Garden Grove; sisters, Linda Swanson of San Clerita, Glenda Bales of Santa Barbara, Kim Bales, deceased, Candy Palomers of Brooking, Oregon and Kelly Kaylor of Brooking, Oregon; 2 nephews, Joe Bales and Jeff Bales who grew up together.
Inurement will be private for family only.

Rose O. Bodak
Rose O. Bodak, 96, of Banning passed away on Oct. 1, 2004.
Born Aug. 15, 1908 in Durham, Kansas she has lived in Banning for the past 37 years.
She was a homemaker for 75 years.
She is survived by her husband, Albert L. Bodak of Banning.
Family and friends gathered on Oct. 5 at Evergreen Cemetery in Riverside where she was laid to rest.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Weaver Mortuary in Beaumont.

Thomas J. Morris Jr.
Thomas J. Morris Jr. of Banning passed away on Sept. 29.
He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on Sept. 21, 1952 to Thomas J. Morris and Mary Lou. He was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his mother; brother, Kenneth Morris and sister-in-law, Roberta Morris; 3 nieces, 1 nephew and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He graduated from Eldorado High School in Placentia, California and California State University in Fullerton where he earned a degree in Finance / Accounting. He worked diligently at his profession for 25 years, mostly in Auburn, California until three years ago. He then decided to travel in his motor home across the United States, visiting historic and scenic places and family and friends. Tom and his cousin canoed down the Mississippi River in the summer 2003. He enjoyed camping, fishing and golf.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. at the Banning United Methodist Church on Oct. 9.
Gifts in memory may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association - Hospice in Banning. 264 N. Highland Springs Avenue in Banning or to the American Cancer Society, 1710 Webster Street, Oakland, California 94612.

Bertha H. Thomas
Bertha H. Thomas, 96, of Banning passed away on Oct. 1, 2004.
Born Aug. 29, 1908 in St. Louis, Missouri she has lived in Banning for the past 8 years.
She was a homemaker for 50 years.
She is survived by her daughter, JoAnn T. Welch (Art) of Banning; son, James E. Thomas of Comfort,  Texas; brother, Gustav Hahn of Minnesota; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather on Oct. 16 at 1 p.m. at the Beaumont Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Endowment Fund Beaumont Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 368, Beaumont, CA 92223.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Weaver Mortuary in Beaumont.

Joseph C. Lantz
Joseph C. Lantz, 84, of Cherry Valley passed away on Oct. 5, 2004.
Born Nov. 28, 1919 in Converse, Indiana he has lived in Cherry Valley for the past 26 years.
He was a business analyst for North American Aviation / Rockwell International for 27 years. He retired in 1980.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He attained the rank of SK1. Joe spent 44 months in the South Pacific during World War II as Store-keeper 1st Class.
He had a Bachelor's degree in Business from the Indiana University.
He enjoyed wood carving, cards, barbershop singing, golf, all of his many trips within the USA and over seas.
He was a member of the Beaumont Presbyterian Church since 1980. He was an elder in the church choir.
He leaves behind wife, Maxine Hershberger Lantz; 2 sons, Larry of Plano,  Texas and David of Buckeye, Arizona; 2 daughter-in-laws, Karen and Lorraine; 4 grandchildren, Matt, Jodie, C.J. and Dylan; 1 brother, Fred of Arizona; 2 sisters, Florence Kilgus of Desert Hot Springs and Roberta Montford of Florida.
Joe and Maxine moved to California in 1954. They lived in Highland Springs Village since 1978. Joe was a charter member of the HSV Mens Golf Club. Joe was a member of the International Barbershop group for over 40 years. He was also a wood carver the past 22 years. Joe belonged to the Masonic Order since 1954 and was also a Shriner and a member of the Scottish Rite organization.
Family and friends will gather on Oct. 9 at 11 a.m. at the Beaumont Presbyterian Church. He will be laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery.

Harry Landrum Bryant
Harry Landrum Bryant, 94, of Long Beach passed away on Dec. 9, at Malora Manor in Long Beach.
Born Dec. 30, 1909 in Gaffney,  South Carolina he lived in Banning for 14 years before moving to Long Beach 3 years ago.
He was a business owner of a music recording studio.
He was a member of the Pioneer Broadcasting Association and was President of it. He received a Life Time achievement award. He was a member of the Sapphire Club and Audio Engineering Society.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Alice Bryant of Long Beach; daughter, Sharon Brown of Rancho Palos Verdes; 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Family and friends gathered on Dec. 15 at Wiefels & Son Memorial Chapel in Banning. He was laid to rest at San Gorgonio Memorial Park in Banning.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Wiefels & Son Funeral Directors in Banning.

William T. "Bill" Cross, Jr.
William T. "Bill" Cross, Jr. was born on April 25, 1942 in Charleston,  West Virginia and returned to our father in heaven on Dec. 9, 2004.
He was the oldest of 4 children of William T. and Mary Elizabeth (Spradling) Cross. He grew up in W. Virginia and served in the Army.
Bill worked for Beckman Instruments for 10 years and then moved to Banning in 1975. He was a General Contractor and for 26 years he served the Pass Area as "Bill Cross Handyman Service."
He was a very dedicated leader to Boy Scout Troop 117 for 23 years.
He was a very active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Bill is survived by his wife, Carole Cross of Banning; daughters, Sherri Christine Marcus of Banning and Rebecca Lynn Michel of San Bernardino; 3 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter; mother, Mary Elizabeth Cross; sisters, Mary Ann Lacy and Patsy Virginia Carte of Charleston, W. Virginia; brother, Ervin Neil Cross of Sissonville, W. Virginia; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Family and friends gathered on Dec. 10 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Banning. He was laid to rest at Riverside National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Boy Scout Troop #117 Summer Camp Fund in care of Bishop Ron Goodman, 92 E. Ensign, Banning, CA 92220.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Weaver Mortuary in Beaumont.
