Velda DeLois Thompson
Dec. 26, 1934 - Dec. 17, 2002
Velda was born December 26, 1934, in Amarillo,  Texas, to Henry and Bonnie Havens. She and her family moved to Bakersfield the following year in 1935. On November 23, 1952, she married Paul Thompson, in Las Vegas. She then graduated from East Bakersfield High School in 1953.
She is survived by her husband Paul and their seven children: Steve and Donna Thompson, Ron and Cheri Thompson, Cheryl and Pat Teague, Ed and Barbara Thompson, Brian and Quyen Thompson, Matt and Joanna Thompson, and Terry Thompson. She is also survived by her mother, Bonnie Havens and sister, Darlene Faucett. She will be dearly missed by her 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Visitation at Mish Funeral Home, Thursday, December 19, 4:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral service on Friday, December 20, at 1:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park Chapel, interment to follow.

Evangelea Stamoulis
Services: Friday, Dec. 20, 1 p.m.
Trisagion services for Evangelea Stamoulis will be at 7:00 p.m. this evening, Thursday, December 19. Father Joseph Chaffee, assisted by Father Matthew Davis, will officiate. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, December 20, 2002, both at St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Father James Pappas will officiate at the funeral service. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, River Blvd.
Evangelea Stamoulis, known fondly as Yia Yia died on December 17, at the age of 102. After emigrating from Greece in 1924, and living briefly in Modesto, she was a Bakersfield resident for the next sixty-eight years. Her husband of fifty-five years, Evangelos, passed away in 1977. They were among the first generation of Greek immigrants who created the St. George Greek Orthodox Church where she remained an active and loyal member into her nineties. Evangelea will be remembered for her strong will, smile and undying devotion to her children and grandchildren.
Evangelea is survived by her loving children, daughters, Helen Protopapas and husband, Chris and Bessie Mattly of Bakersfield, and son and daughter-in-law, Nick and Nina Stamoulis of Fresno; two sisters in Greece; three granddaughters and two great-granddaughters.
The family wishes to thank Ellen who cared for Yia Yia in her final years and Hoffmann Hospice for their special and loving care. Contributions in memory of Evangelea may be made to Hoffmann Hospice, 6501 Schirra Court, Bakersfield, CA 93313 or to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 401 Truxtun Avenue, Bakersfield, CA 93301.

Wanda Faye Jones

Per Wandas request, private services will be held at Greenlawn Southwest Chapel.
Wanda Faye  Jones was born on August 30, 1929, in Mansville,  Oklahoma to Tom and Louella Phillips and passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2002, at home with her loving family by her side. She and her husband, Bud, moved to Bakersfield in 1947. She fought a long, courageous battle with Leukemia until she went to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ.
While growing up in Ravia,  Oklahoma, Wanda was an avid basketball player in which she received numerous awards. She loved attending her childrens, grandchildrens and great-grandchildren's various sports activities. Wanda was a loyal sports fan of the Los Angeles Lakers and Dodgers. Wanda was well known, respected and admired by all who knew her especially for her great love and wonderful example she set for her loved ones. Wanda was a dedicated wife and mother whose commitment was to family values and caring for her devoted family along with her love for the Lord. She regularly attended Valley Baptist Church.
Wanda is survived by her loving, dedicated husband, Bud, whom she was married to for fifty-six wonderful years; her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Sammi and Dick Wurster of Bakersfield, Louise and Art Hernandez all of Bakersfield, and Vicki and Mark Mitchell of Atascadero; son and daughter-in-law, Bud and Denise  Jones of Bakersfield; grandsons and spouses, Bart and Lori Cantrell, Brad and Katie Mitchell and Chad and Nicole Mitchell; grandsons, Jason Cantrell, Ryan  Jones and Rick Wurster and son, Cody; granddaughters, Kaity  Jones and Wendy Wurster and son, Chase; great-grandson, Blake Cantrell; great-granddaughter, True Mitchell; and Wandas sisters, Babe, Bess and Ruth from  Oklahoma; extended family member, Lori Cantrell Rubio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Dr. Risbud, Mercy Hospital (downtown) and Optimal Hospice and their wonderful caring staffs.
Pallbearers will be sons-in-law, Dick Wurster, Mark Mitchell, Art Hernandez; grandsons, Bart Cantrell, Jason Cantrell, Ryan Jones, Brad Mitchell and Chad Mitchell.

Corean Erma Bell
July 19, 1908 Nov. 23, 2002
Graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park on Wednesday, November 27, 2002, at 2:30 p.m., for Corean E. Bell, Aunt Corean, 94, who passed away November 23, 2002, in Bakersfield.
Corean was born July 19, 1908, in Arlington, OK, and had resided in Kern County for 80 years. She was a member of Bakersfield Chapter 125, Order of Eastern Star, Retired County Employees and Kern County Employees Association.
Corean was preceded in death by her husband, Miles J. Bell. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Esther Hicks
1917 - 2002
Graveside services for Esther Hicks will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, November 27, 2002, at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Esther was born on March 17, 1917, and passed away on November 22, 2002, at the age of 85. She was a longtime resident of Bakersfield and had been living in Fresno for the past four and one-half years.
Her beloved husband, Idus F. Hicks, her brother, Henry and her sisters, Marie and Freda precede her in death. Esther is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Kathy Hicks; her daughter, Judi Dolenshak and her grand-children, Shelley, Karen and Eric.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to the donors favorite charity.

Daucie M. Rose
Services: Tues., Nov. 26, 2 p.m.
Graveside services for Daucie Rose will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Bakersfield, at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 26, 2002, officiated by Jack Stewart of the Church of Christ.
Daucie was born February 22, 1923, and passed away on November 22, 2002. He grew up and received his schooling in Talihini, OK. At age 19, he went into the military, serving in the South Pacific during WWII. He worked as an electrician for 40 years in Bakersfield and at Edwards AFB-Rocket Test Site. Upon retirement, he moved to Oakhurst, CA, and was caretaker at Yosemite Bible Camp for 6 years. He was living in Mariposa, CA, at the time of his death.
Daucie is survived by his wife, Della Rose. November 26 would be their 60th anniversary. He was preceded in death by one son, Arthur. Surviving children are sons, Daucie Rose, Jr. and Alva Rose of Bakersfield, and daughter, Marion Cunningham of San Bernardino. Arrangements are being handled by Sierra Funeral Chapel of Oakhurst, CA.

Joan Marie Good

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2002, 11 a.m., at Vanderwall Funeral Home, in Dayton, Tennessee, for Joan Marie Good, age 49, who passed away Friday, November 22, 2002, in Bakersfield, California. Pastors David  Jones and Don Richards officiating. Burial will follow in Rhea Memory Gardens, Dayton, TN. Visitation is Monday, after 5 p.m.
Joan was a high school graduate and had lived in  Pennsylvania for many years, then moving to Bakersfield, CA in 1994. She worked in accounts payable for Clean Harbor of Buttonwillow, CA, and was of the Seventh-Day Adventist faith.
Joan was preceded in death by her father, Norman E. Hepner, Jr. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Good of Bakersfield; her daughter, Shawna Moyer of Reinholds, PA; grandson, Dakota Moyer; her mother, Anna Hepner of Sale Creek; her brother, Larry Hepner of Spring City; her three sisters, Martha Ledbetter of Sale Creek, Susan Colvard of Pikeville, Cheryl Burnett of Spring City; two stepsons, Kenneth Good Jr. of Ephrata, PA, Ronald Good of Reamstown, PA.

Stephanie Raguini Huera
3/10/1999 - 11/23/2002
Stephanie Unique Raguini affectionately known as Huera went home to be with Jesus Saturday, November 23, 2002, at Mercy Hospital. Born to parents, Steven and Tina Raguini, on March 10, 1999. She is survived by two loving sisters, Renee and Tayler Raguini; two great-grand-fathers; three great-grandmothers; two grandmothers, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a caring godmother, Mona Gonzalez that loved her very much. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Rev. Nolberto Gomez Jr. and great-grandfather, Nolberto Gomez Sr.
She was a member of Victory Outreach South Bakersfield Childrens Ministries. Safe in the arms of Jesus, without any cares. Resting with our Father, I wish I was there. A sweet memory of Huera there will always be. So little was her body but with joy her smile we still see. God blessed us with her life as a gift, and in His timing He saw fit to take her home. No regrets for now, to a better place with Jesus she has gone.
Service will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2002, at Victory Outreach Church, 400 Watts Drive, in Bakersfield. Visitation at 8:30 a.m., service at 10:00 a.m.

Viewing and visitation to start Tuesday, November 26, 2002, at 11:00 a.m., with an Evening Meditation Funeral Service to be held at 6:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Ruckers Mortuary, 301 Baker St. Associate Pastor John Martinez of The Ave of Hope Christian Church will be officiating, for Carla- Yesenia Hernandez, 2 years old, of Lamont, CA, who entered into eternal rest November 21, 2002.
A Graveside Funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2002, at 11:00 a.m., Greenlawn Cemetery, 3700 River Blvd., with interment to follow.
Ruckers Mortuaries in cooperation with Greenlawn Cemeteries and the Cavazos-Hernandez family wish to thank the family, many friends, and the community for their support and acts of kindness shown during this most sorrowful time. Carla Yesenia will be sincerely missed, but always in our hearts. May God Bless you.
