Visitation begins today, 5:00-9:00 p.m., at Rose Hills Mortuary, in Brea, CA. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2002, 2:00 p.m., at Loma Vista Memorial Park in Fullerton, for Gary Miles.
Gary was born July 25, 1984, in Bakersfield, CA. He was a resident of Diamond Bar, CA, and a college freshman at Mt. San Antonio College.
Gary is survived by his parents, Bob and Chris Miles; sister, Christy; grandparents, Bill and Audrey Foulkes and Sam Miles.

Eva Mae Mathis
1923 - 2002
Eva Mae Mathis was born on April 18, 1923, in Eakly,  Oklahoma, to John and Edith Bickerstaff. She and Harlen Mathis were married and moved to Kern County in 1940.
She was preceded in death by her dad and mom, John and Edith, her husband, Harlen, grandson, Brian, twin infant granddaughters, brother, Claude and sisters, Bertha, Christine and Evelyn. She is survived by two daughters, Claudine and fiancé, Bruce Tuckness, Carlyn and fiancé, Lance Bowman; two granddaughters, Sarah Wiggins and Amanda Lack; and one great-grandson, Kyle Wiggins; sisters, Viola, Dollie and Lora and two brothers, John David and Preston, numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces.
The family wishes to especially thank Jerry Abernathy, Myrna Davidson, Cora Livingston and Doris Garrett for their many hours of care and love that they gave Eva. Also, thank you to Dr. Matuk and Hoffmann Hospice.
Family and friends may visit at Hillcrest Mortuary, Tuesday, November 26, 2002, between 4-8 p.m. Chapel services will be held Wednesday the 27th, at 10:00 a.m., at Hillcrest.

Patrick Kevin McFaddin "Pat"
Services: Tues., Nov. 26, 10 a.m.
Pat McFaddin was born March 21, 1956, in Bakersfield, CA. Pat was unexpectedly taken from us on November 22, 2002, joining his loving sister, Mary Anne McFaddin and niece, Jenny Cervantes.
A celebration of the life of Pat McFaddin will take place on Tuesday, November 26, 2002, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Francis Church, 900 H St. Father Craig Harrison will officiate at the service.
Pat was born and raised in Bakersfield. He attended Bakersfield High School where he participated in Varsity Basketball, was active in student government and helped plant the trees surrounding the Student Activity Building. He graduated with honors in 1974. Upon graduation he attended the University of Southern California where he studied mathematics until 1978. Pat worked for Sun World and Contel in Bakersfield, as well as GTE Data Services in Sacramento and Fort Wayne, Indiana. In Indiana, he immensely enjoyed umpiring girls softball at  Washington Township Girls Softball League where he was given a grand send-off upon his departure from Indiana.
Pat is survived by his wife of 26 years, Christina Mary Diaz McFaddin; children, Kathryn Mary, 18 yrs., Patrick Kevin, 14 yrs., and Christina Anne, 11 yrs. He is also survived by his siblings, Michael, Robert and Sue; mother, Gene; father, David and stepmother, Cindy. He was also loved and will be missed by the entire Diaz family, which numbers over 40 strong.
At the suggestion of loving family and friends, a scholarship fund is being established for the McFaddin Children at Wells Fargo Bank, 5401 California Ave., Bakersfield.
He was a well-loved son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend and will be greatly missed by all. Pat was a wonderful storyteller and compassionate human being. Our family wishes to Thank all those who extended their concern during our time of need.

Dorothea Dee Lehman
Dorothea Dee Weldon Lehman, 83, passed away on October 4th in Camarillo, CA., following a life of great fun, wit and even greater irreverence. She was born in Boulder, Colorado on April 29, 1919 and moved to Bakersfield at the age of twelve. After graduating from Kern County Union High School in 1936 and from Bakersfield Junior College, she had a fulfilling career as office manager of Alliance Appraisal Company until retirement. Her lifelong friends remember her for her love of the LA Dodgers and her historic World Series baseball pool of over 50 years. As a sports fanatic, Dee championed the Lakers, Tiger  Woods and Pete Sampras. Dee loved her friends and co-workers, as well as her community, serving as member of the Junior League for many years.
Dee is survived and will be greatly missed by her four children and their families: Tony and Jeanne Lehman of Palm Springs/Santa Barbara, Robin Lehman Renwick of Modesto, Larry and Loral Lehman of Ventura and Lisa and Steve Heber of Bakersfield. In addition she leaves behind her dear brother, Robert Weldon and his wife Gladys of Manhattan Beach. Her seven grandchildren and one great grand-child, who all adored their Nana, will always cherish her memory. Dee was preceded in death by her husband of many years, C. Douglas Lehman and her mother, Beulah Weldon.
The family would like to especially thank Romain P. Clerou M.D. for a lifetime of wonderful care, and Dr. Timothy Sill for his friendship and tender loving care these last few years. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 11, at 11:30 a.m., First Methodist Church, 4600 Stockdale Hwy.

Services: Fri. Oct. 11, 9 a.m.
Visitation for Homero Villareal Ochoa will be held at Basham Funeral Care (3312 Niles Street) on Thursday afternoon, October 10, 2002, from 3-5:30 p.m. and the Rosary will be recited at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Friday morning October 11, 2002, at 9:00 a.m. and interment will follow at Greenlawn Southwest Cemetery.
Homer was born January 14, 1942, in San Isidro, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, and he passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2002, in Bakersfield with his family by his side. Homer is preceded in death by his son, Enrique Ochoa and he is survived by his wife, Evangelina Ochoa; daughter and son-in-law, Sonia and Manuel Cuellar; son, Homer Ochoa, Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Lydia and Christopher Diaz; daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Robert Sandoval; grandchildren, Joseph, Matthew and Victoria Cuellar, Alyssa and Nicholas Diaz, and Sabrina Sandoval; 5 brothers; 5 sisters; and many other relatives and friends who will miss him deeply.
Homer enjoyed traveling with his wife and visiting family and friends. He loved music, dancing and attending family events. He treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren and children. He was well respected and loved by everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his entire family who loved him very much. Eva Gonzales
The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., tonight, October 9, at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary-Bakersfield. The Mass of the Christian Burial will be said at 9:00 a.m., on Thursday, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery.
Eva was born in Bakersfield on August 8, 1919 and died on October 6, 2002. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore Martinez and Luz Gonzales, by her husband, Jose, her brother, Tony Martinez, and sisters, Sally Villalovos and Lupe Ortiz. Those who survive her include her son, Ted and his wife, Anna; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grand-children; 4 great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Bazan; her sister-in-law, Ruth Martinez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will include Richard Asuncion, Manuel Magana, Danny Bazan, Mike Vass, Fernando Gonzales and Joseph Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers include Anthony Martinez and Alfonso Ortiz.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of Hoffmann Hospice for the loving care and kindness that was extended to Eva and her family.

Efren Cobian Robles
1919 - 2002
Recitation of the Rosary will be held at Hillcrest Chapel, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Thursday, October 10, at 7:00 p.m., and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 601 E. California Ave., Friday, October 11, at 10:30 a.m., for Efren C. Robles, 83, who passed away October 5, in Bakersfield. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Efren was born in El Rancho Viejo, Jalisco on May 24, 1919, to Adolfo and Ignacia Robles. The family moved to Colima, Colima when Efren was an adolescent. He was the third son in a family of ten. He resided in Bakersfield since 1945 and retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad after working 22 years.
After his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. He especially enjoyed deep-sea fishing and taking his sons hunting. Efren was an avid soccer fan, a member of the Bakersfield Shoe Crew and participated in the Senior Olympics. He was very proud of becoming an American citizen at the age of 77 and prominently displayed his Certificate of Naturalization on his living room wall.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Juanita R. Robles; children, Hector R. Robles and wife, Beatriz, Robert R. Robles and wife, Sonja; daughter, Sandra R. Robles and son, Thomas E. Robles and wife, Rebecca, all of Bakersfield. Sister, Graciela Robles de Iglesias of Colima, Colima; brothers, Moises C. Robles of Mexico City, Jamie C. Robles of Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua; Arturo C. Robles and Raul C. Robles of Bakersfield; also 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Efren Robles, Michael Robles, Monique Robles, Priscilla Robles, Victor Robles and Jessica Robles. Honorary pallbearers are Gabriel Ibarra, Jamie Robles and Mark Galindo. The Robles family would like to thank the staff at Emmanuel Convalescent San Joaquin and Jeanne Holst, R.N. of Optimal Hospice.

Larry John Romanini
1/12/1952 - 10/7/2002
Funeral services will be held on October 11, 2002, at 9:30 a.m., at St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church, for Larry John Romanini, who passed away on October 7, 2002, after a long and hard battle with cancer. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery.
Larry was born in Bakersfield, CA, to Willie and Susie Romanini of Buttonwillow, CA. He was raised in Buttonwillow, CA, where he was a farmer until 1992. He then moved on to be a mechanic and car salesman for Helms Auto Supply. Larry enjoyed spending time with his family and caring for his animals. Larry had a passion for helping people in anyway possible.
Larry is preceded in death by his father, Willie. He is survived by his beloved wife, of 30 years, Carolyn; daughters, Roxanne and Katie; mother, Susie; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Judy; and his two nieces, Staci Scherer and Tami Rimmer; and many other family members.
Pallbearers will be Darvin Boles, Kevin Elliott, Albert Ghilarducci, Sam Ghilarducci, Tommy Romanini, David Clark, Joe Andreotti, and Amato Ghilarducci.
The family would like to give a very special thanks to Darvin Boles, Virginia and Donny Clark, Lina and Armanda Ghilarducci, Dr. Rahal, and the doctors and staff at Comprehensive Blood and Cancer Center for providing Larry with wonderful and special care during his illness.
