Angeline (Angel) Roberts
Angeline (Angel) Roberts, who lived in Elk Grove for the past five years, died Dec. 13, 2001.
She was born Oct. 4, 1926 in Ewa Plantation, Oahu, HI, but had been a resident of the Sacramento area for more than 46 years. She was known as the "Angel with the Huge Heart, who opened up her home to those in need," said her family.
When she was 15, while she was still living in Oahu, the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. She later went to work at the naval base, where she sang and danced for area soldiers. It was there where she met her husband of 42 years, Mark H. Roberts II.
After moving stateside, Mrs. Roberts went to work for the Blue Diamond Almond Growers, a job from which she retired after 30 years.
She is survived by two brothers, Sylvano Rodrigues of Hawaii and Joseph Rodrigues of New York; and two sisters, Doris Lorraine Asher of Sacramento and Alveria (DeeDee) Maldonado of Hawaii.
She was the loving mother of Cynthia Sharp, Shelley Rettich, Robert Roberts, Gregg Roberts, Lorrea Brown and Rae Sanchez; and the grandmother of 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 2 p.m. at the Lodi Funeral Home, 725 South Fairmont, Lodi (209) 369-3564.
Her family wishes to say with all their love and respect "Sheun Mamma" (a blessing in Hawaii).

A celebration of the life of Janice Caroline Waddell will be held Sunday at noon at the ranch of Bub and Mary Alice Waddell, 9350 Calvine Road. Mrs. Waddell, 92, died April 13, 2002, three days before her birthday.
She was born April 16, 1909, in Hot Sulfur Springs,  Colo., the eldest of four children.
Mrs. Waddell was a nurse for 40 years, 27 of which were spent at the Sacramento County Hospital (now UCD Medical Center), mostly in the newborn nursery.
She lived at Palm Valley Care in Elk Grove for the past four years, and especially enjoyed going to the Waddell ranch, visiting family and seeing the animals.
“She was a giver of love, time and talents,” said the family, “a great friend and a good cook, especially divinity fudge at Christmas.”
Mrs. Waddell was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Lamar; her son, John and wife Mona; her sister, Alma, and brother, Art.
She is survived by her children, Carl Waddell of Polson, Mont., Bub Waddell and wife Mary Alice of Elk Grove, Gary Waddell and wife Diane of Davis, and Rose Brown and husband Rick of Arnold; 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Among the grandchildren are those living in this area, including Art and Kenna Waddell and children Brandon and Christopher of Wilton, Brett and Regina Waddell and children Kristie and Courtney also of Wilton, and Julie and Rick Lockwood and son Colt of Elk Grove.
Remembrances may be made to UC Davis Medical Center, Neonatal ICU, 2315 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95817, Att: Marge, or to Sacramento Crisis Nursery, 6699 South Land Park Drive, Sacramento, CA 95831.

Barbaranell Wright
A visitation and memory day is today for Barbaranell Marleen (Shifflett) Wright, a longtime resident of Wilton who died April 24, 2002, at the age of 69.

Following graduation she enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where she met and married Rolland “Sarge” Wright. They were married for 42 years until his death in 1995.
The family moved to Wilton 32 years ago, and friends and family described Mrs. Wright as someone whose home was always open to all, including stray animals who found sanctuary with her.
After the move to Wilton, Mrs. Wright worked for awhile as manager of Circle K, first at the store at 3rd Avenue and Elk Grove Boulevard, and later at Wilton and Grant Line roads.
She is survived by her children, Faye Wright and Arthur Wright both of Elk Grove, Loretta Dirmeyer of Herald and Lynda Long of Wilton; her stepson, Ron Stevens; her sister, Shirley Hutcherson of Sacramento; her uncle, Lloyd Stuchel of Oroville; her lifelong friend, Eightha June Coffman of Arkansas; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
