Rev. John Johnston
Rev. John T. Johnston, voluntary assistant pastor at Vintage Park Community Church, died April 9, 2002, following an illness of leukemia.
He was born Dec. 7, 1924, in Mt. Victory, Ohio, to Fannie and Harley Johnston. He served in the U.S. Army for two years during World War II in the South Pacific. He then worked at International Harvester for 2 ½ years before graduating with his wife, Lela, from Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, in 1952.
The family came to California in 1957 and Rev. Johnston was on the staff at Biola College for 10 years, then worked as the development director for the Salvation Army in San Francisco for 15 years.
Following retirement, he was a voluntary chaplain at Kaiser Hospital in south Sacramento before assuming duties at Vintage Park Church.
Rev. Johnston is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lela Johnston; his children, Michael of Phoenix and Naomi and Steven of Sacramento; and his grandchildren, Diamond and Dillon of Phoenix.
Graveside services were Saturday at South East Lawn Mortuary and a memorial service took place Sunday at Vintage Park Church.

Lloyd Breding
Lloyd B. Breding, a resident of Elk Grove for 49 years, died Dec. 10, 2001 at the age of 87.
Mr. Breding was born Dec. 30, 1913 in American Fall, Idaho to Herman and Shirley Breding.
He was a truck driver for many years for the Elk Grove Meat Company, a volunteer fireman with the Elk Grove Fire Department and a member of the Moose Lodge. Hobbies included playing pinochle and keno at Reno.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy.
Mr. Breding is survived by his sons, Lloyd Richard Breding and wife Carol of Clovis and John David Breding and wife Louise of Fort Worth,  Texas; grandchildren John Jr., Candece, Emmy, Ken, Bernice and Jimmy; and great-grandchildren Haleigh, Britni, Cameron, Tyler and Spencer.
At his request, no services were held. The family gathered for a reunion in Elk Grove in July of this year.

Roberta Hayes
Roberta Hayes, a five-year resident of Elk Grove, died Dec. 8, 2001.
Mrs. Hayes was born Roberta Thomas on Jan. 26, 1918 in Fresno where she grew up, graduating from Fresno Tech High School. She played center field for the Fresno Rockets softball team in the late 1930s, and hobbies included bowling, baseball, bridge and needlework.
She and Phillip Hayes were married in 1936 and the couple lived in Fresno before retiring to Morro Bay in 1971, where they stayed until moving to Lake Havasu, Ariz. in 1986. They came to Elk Grove in 1996.
Her husband of 65 years survives her as do her daughters, Jean Wrightson of Elk Grove and R. Lynn Hayes-Burkart of Costa Mesa; her grandchildren, Pamela Tashijan of Hanford, David Wrightson of Tracy, Chad Nielsen of Fresno, Cory Nielsen of Costa Mesa and Bryce Nielsen of Oceanside; and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hayes was the sister of Olive McCraw of Fresno and Ruth McPhail of Crandall, Ga.
Services took place in Sacramento.

Raymond L. Priddy
Services for Raymond L. Priddy, 76, of Jacksonville will be at 2 p.m Tuesday at Renfro Memorial Chapel at Boren-Conner Funeral Home with Dr. Harold Brunson officiating.
Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery in Jacksonville.
Mr. Priddy died Saturday at his home. He was born Feb. 8, 1925, in Ellis County,  Texas.
He was a resident of the Jacksonville area for 43 years. He was a member of Hill Creek Baptist Church,  Whitehouse, a minister and a bookkeeper.
He served in the U.S. Army Infantry.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Lorene Priddy, and granddaughter, Jennifer Odom.
Survivors include daughters, Sue Wood of Humble, Charla Marsh of Corpus Christi and Betty Odom of Tyler; brothers, Weldon Priddy of Lancaster, Joe Priddy of Belton, Bob Priddy of Troy, Tom Priddy of Austin and Bruce Priddy; sister, Margaret Bartlett of Grand Prairie; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Carroll Nash, Ray Odom, Ronnie Batie, Kelly Jones, Tommy Marrett and Jerry Stokes.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pat “Clyde” E. Reagan
Services for Pat “Clyde” E. Reagan, 67, of Reese will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul Bonner officiating.
Burial will follow at Reese Cemetery.
Mr. Reagan died Saturday in Jacksonville. He was born Sept. 22, 1933, in Reese.
He was a farmer and rancher and a member of Antioch Methodist Church. Mr. Reagan served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include wife, Theta Reagan of Reese; son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Laurie Reagan; daughter and son-in-law, Christi and Maurice Pipkin of Crandall; brothers, Johnny Reagan of Reese and Edward Reagan of Jacksonville; sisters, Margaret Holcomb and Peggy Pike of Jacksonville; and two granddaughters, Hilliary Alyson Reagan and Callie Christene Reagan.
Pallbearers are G. W. Pike, Joe Blackmon, Travis Etheridge, Bryan Blackmon, Jason Roach, Randy Bonner, Richie Simmons and Dewayne Blackmon.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

William “Bill” Craddock
Services for William “Bill” Craddock, 96, of Tyler, formerly of Jacksonville, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Burks Walker Tippit Chapel. The Revs. James T. Garrett and Oral R. Bowman will officiate.
Burial will at Cathedral of the Pines.
Mr. Craddock died Monday in Tyler. He was born April 11, 1905, in Sardis and was a Tyler resident since 1956. He was a senior deacon at Trinity Baptist Church in Tyler and worked as a station agent for the Burlington Rock Island Railroad. He was retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and had founded Cradco Building Maintenance Company in Tyler.
Mr. Craddock was preceded in death by his grandson, Clay Craddock; brothers, Daniel and Wesley Craddock; and sisters, Beatrice Lummus and Lorena Cadenhead.
Survivors include his wife, Dora Mae Craddock of Tyler; sons, James, William and John Craddock, both of Tyler; sister, Vurlon Lewis of Conroe; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chris Craddock, Cavan Craddock, Cameron Craddock, Mitchell Craddock, Carl Negley and Brandon Watson.
Honorary pallbearers include Scott Hall, Francis Greenfield and the deacons of Trinity Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church at 604 W. 4th St., Tyler, 75701, or to the Hospice of East  Texas at 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, 75701.

Jessie L. Slawson
Services for Jessie L. Slawson of Clute are pending at Thompson Funeral Home in Jacksonville.
Mrs. Slawson died today in Clute.

Rose Violet
Memorial services for Rose Violet, a native of Elk Grove, will take place Saturday at 2 p.m. Mrs. Violet died Dec. 28, 2001 following a bout with pneumonia.
She was born in Elk Grove May 13, 1913, and was active in the Senior Center of Elk Grove for many years. Hobbies included fishing, telling jokes and enjoying gatherings with family and friends.
Mrs. Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Violet.
She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Dixon of Thornton and Loree Berry of Evergreen,  Colo.; her sons, Gordon and Jon Violet both of Sacramento; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Private graveside services were Jan. 2 at South East Lawn Memorial Park, Elk Grove. Memorial services will be at the National Association of Letter Carriers Hall, 6215 Watt Avenue, North Highlands. Remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
