Pamela Thomason Stone
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, July 2, for Pamela Claire Fenocchio Thomason Stone, a 15-year resident of Elk Grove who died June 16, 2003 at the age of 45.
Mrs. Stone was a preschool teacher for the Elk Grove Community Services District Department of Parks and Recreation where she was known as "Teacher Pam."
She was also an avid environmentalist and wildlife protector and wrote many letters to the editor to the Elk Grove Citizen protesting the development of Bell South and other sites.
"Pam loved the Elk Grove area and was sad to see the mass building going on in such a short time here," said her husband, Craig.
Mrs. Stone was born in Sacramento Sept. 7, 1957 and grew up in Clarksburg. She received her associate of arts degree from Cosumnes River College and her teaching credential for preschool.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Rod Thomason, in 1987.
Mrs. Stone is survived by her husband, Craig Stone, and son, Eric Thomason, both of Elk Grove; her parents, Don and Claire Fenocchio of Clarksburg; her brothers, Mark Fenocchio and wife Cinde, and Gary Fenocchio, all of Sacramento, and Paul Fenocchio of Clarksburg; and her stepchildren, Junet, Jaime and Craig Stone Jr. of Sacramento.
She was the daughter-in-law of Frank Stone of Vacaville and the late Phyllis Stone; and former daughter-in-law of Lorraine Thomason of Sacramento and the late Reggie Thomason.
Wednesday's services will begin at 10 a.m. at the Clarksburg Community Church, Netherlands Road, Clarksburg. Rev. Dennis Montzingo will officiate. Interment was private.

Betty Pate
Betty Louise Pate, mother of Teresa Lynn Stevens of Elk Grove, died Aug. 5, 2003 at the age of 68.
Mrs. Pate was born in Ben Wheeler,  Texas and was a resident of Tulare County for 22 years. She was a grocery clerk for 15 years and also worked in day care.
Her hobbies included gardening and fishing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Pate, in 1990, and by four sisters and one brother.
Besides her daughter Teresa, Mrs. Pate is survived by her daughters Laura Louise Williams and Lisa Lynnette Terrell both of Tulare and Sheila Leighann Mansfield of West Sacramento; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of Garland  White of Fairfield, Patricia Hill of south Sacramento and Jimmy Rose  White of Waterloo, Iowa.
Services were Saturday at Peers Lorentzen Funeral Chapel in Tulare. Interment was in Tipton-Pixley District Cemetery, Tipton.

Frances Morān
Frances Morān, a resident of Elk Grove for the past 4 1/2 years, died Feb. 26, 2004 at the age of 87.
Mrs. Morān was born July 25, 1916 in Fairfield where she grew up. She then lived in Chico and Sacramento before moving to Elk Grove.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting and gardening, and was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Florin.
Mrs. Morān was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Alfonso.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Woodworker and husband William of Elk Grove and Diana Cornette and husband Jeffrey of Los Angeles; her granddaughters, Keri, Gina and Lori; and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Morān was the sister of Natividad Morān of Chico, Josephine Smith of Rocklin and Marie Galdon of Oregon.
Services took place March 4 at Nicoletti, Culjis and Herberger Funeral Chapel. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer's Aid Society, 2641 Cottage Way, Suite 4, Sacramento, CA 95825.

Pauline Galea
A Mass of Christian burial will take place Thursday, March 11 for Pauline Galea, a 17-year resident of Elk Grove.
Mrs. Galea, 79, died March 7, 2004. She was a native of Malta.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Joseph Galea; and her children, John Galea, Carmen Mack, Toni Simi, Terri Van Horn, Sally Galea, Josie Rancatore, Frank, Paul and Mike Galea, Joseph Galea Jr., Peter Galea, Mary Rossi and Rosie Pastora.
Mrs. Galea also leaves behind 32 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, four brothers and four sisters.
Visitation is today, March 10 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. with recitation of the rosary beginning at 6 p.m. in Elk Grove Funeral Chapel, 9101 Elk Grove Blvd.
Thursday's service begins at 9 a.m. in St. Paul's Catholic Church, 8720 Florin Road. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Dorothy Enzi
Dorothy Romaine Enzi of Elk Grove, a 51-year resident of California, died June 21, 2004. She was born July 28, 1924 in Clay City, Ind.
Mrs. Enzi was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Enzi.
She is survived by her longtime companion, William Rodgers of Elk Grove; his children, Marcie Moore and David Rodgers and daughter Jasmine; her daughters, Mary Wade and husband John and Carolyn McDowell; her grandchildren, Michael Wade and wife Kim, Amy Rice and husband Matthew, Christy Folkner and husband David and Jennifer McDowell; and great-grandchildren, Rachel and Jacob Wade, Jayden Canada and Abigail Folkner all of Indiana.
No services were held.

Ernest Welter
Ernest L. Welter, a 52-year resident of this area, died June 27, 2004 at the age of 89.
Mr. Welter was born in New York City June 3, 1915, and graduated from New York Tech. He joined the Army Air Corps as a navigator and received an honorable discharge in 1942. He spent the next two years with the Corps of Engineers.
He then went to the Kaiser shipyard in Richmond where he met his future wife, Lois Jean Leon. They were married Dec. 8, 1945, and were married for 50 years before her death in 1995.
Mr. Welter was a draftsman and was also in construction and sales of tin buildings. He retired in 1980.
He was a member of  Washington Lodge No. 20, F&AM, and a member of the Ben Ali Shrine, Keystone Cops and Patrol.
Mr. Welter is survived by his children, Charles E. Welter and Melitta Jean Bishop; stepchildren Audrey Burnam and Richard DiBenedetto; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services took place July 2. Remembrances may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 2425 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95817.
Arrangements were by South East Lawn Mortuary, Elk Grove.

David Barnes
Memorial services will take place Saturday, Aug. 28 for David Richard Barnes of Herald who died Aug. 12, 2004, at the age of 63.
Mr. Barnes was a sheep and cattle rancher in the Sheldon area of Elk Grove and later in Herald. He grew up in Elk Grove, graduating from Elk Grove High School in 1959 where he was a star basketball player all four years.
He was also a member of the Future Farmers of America, and after his schooling, he continued to be active in that organization as well as 4-H, even before his children participated in 4-H. The Sheldon 4-H Club produced the largest sheep group in the county under Mr. Barnes' leadership.
Mr. Barnes helped establish the annual Sheldon crab feed and also volunteered as a livestock superintendent at the Sacramento County Fair for many years. The family moved to Herald in 1985.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, April Barnes; children Randy Barnes and wife Jeri and Sheri Eldridge and husband John all of Herald; and grandchildren Kaci Barnes, Ashley and Kelsey Eldridge.
Mr. Barnes was the son of Georgia Barnes of Sacramento and brother of Donald Barnes and wife Cherie of Roseville.
Saturday's services will begin at 11 a.m. in Point Pleasant United Methodist Church, 3329 Point Pleasant Road off Franklin Boulevard. Interment in Point Pleasant Cemetery will be private.
Remembrances may be made to the Dave Barnes Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Stockmans Bank, 9340 East Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove, CA 95624. Checks should be made payable to the Dave Barnes Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Arrangements are by Elk Grove Funeral Chapel.
