Judith Sprock
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Oct. 9 for Judith (Judy) Sprock, a lifelong resident of the Elk Grove area, who died Sept. 26, 2004 at the age of 62.
Mrs. Sprock was born April 19, 1942 to T.R. and Florence Campbell of Elk Grove and grew up here, graduating from Elk Grove High School.
She was the owner of Cottage Creations, a children's clothing store, and Hairitage House, hair salon, two businesses in Old Town Elk Grove during the 1980s and early '90s. She was also a member of Old Town Merchants Association and Point Pleasant United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Sprock was preceded in death by her father, T.R. Campbell.
Surviving are her husband of 45 years, Allen Sprock of Elk Grove; her children, Frank Sprock and Nancy Wood, and Janus Sprock also of Elk Grove; her grandchildren, Sarah Sprock and Anne and Christine Wood; and her mother, Florence Campbell of Crescent City.
The Sprocks were foster parents, and also surviving are foster children Tracie and Diane and grandchildren Tony and Timmy.
Pastor Neal Harrell will officiate at Saturday's services which begin at 2 p.m. at Point Pleasant United Methodist Church, 3329 Point Pleasant Road. Interment is private.

Charlotte Bobisud
Graveside services will be today, Friday, for Charlotte (Mitchell) Bobisud, a former resident of Wilton who died Oct. 1, 2004 in Grass Valley following a long battle with cancer.
Mrs. Bobisud was born May 25, 1946 and graduated from Norte Del Rio High School in Sacramento. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Sacramento State College, and served in the military with the U.S. Air Force.
An Arabian horse breeder and trainer, she was a former president and secretary of the Arabian Horse Association of Northern California.
Mrs. Bobisud is survived by her parents, John and Evelyn Mitchell of Grass Valley; and her daughters, Crista Bobisud also of Grass Valley and Robyn Bobisud of Davis.
She was the sister of Doug Mitchell and wife Carla Woodside-Mitchell of Nevada City, and Mary Robertson and husband Brad of Galt. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Today's services begin at 1 p.m. at the Loney Sanford Cemetery, McCourtney Road, Grass Valley. Remembrances may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 12399 Nevada City Hwy., Nevada City, CA 95959.
Arrangements are by Hooper and Weaver Mortuary, Nevada City.

Joseph McGhee
A celebration of the life of Joseph Thomas McGhee will take place on Thursday, Nov. 11. Mr. McGhee, 72, died Nov. 5, 2004 at his home in Elk Grove following a battle with prostate cancer and Parkinson's disease.
Mr. McGhee was born April 9, 1932 in Boston, and spent most of his life in the Sacramento and Elk Grove areas. He was retired from the state Department of Education.
He was preceded in death by three children, Sean, Danny and Lori McGhee.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years Warene of Elk Grove; children, Patty  Jones and husband Eurtis, Charles McGhee and wife Paula, Joseph Gary McGhee and wife Rhonda, Nancy Cox and husband Matt, Warene Weathers and husband Jay, Kelly Covarrubias and husband Victor, Julie DeBenedetto and husband Steve, Renea McGhee, Marla Lasiter, Joseph Carbone and wife Rebecca and Michael Carbone; 24 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Thursday's gathering will begin at 3 p.m. at Holiday Inn Express, 9175 West Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove.

Shyrl Schultze
A celebration of the life of Shyrl J. Schultze, 65, a longtime resident of Elk Grove who died April 3, 2005 will take place Sunday, April 17.
Mrs. Schultze was a member of the office staff at Joseph Kerr Middle School for 27 years, and the celebration of her life will take place at the school, 8865 Elk Grove Blvd., at 2 p.m.
She was born in Sacramento and spent the rest of her life in Elk Grove. Among her personal accomplishments were learning to fly, teaching herself to paint and learning to play the guitar. Interests also included music, gardening and the outdoors, San Francisco 49ers, Sacramento Kings and Elk Grove Thundering Herd.
Mrs. Schultze was an Avon representative for the past 25 years.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years Ray Schultze; daughters Teri Kunz and husband Jim and Leslee Horning and husband Steve; and grandchildren Bryon and Joe Kunz and Erin and Tommy Horning all of Elk Grove.
Mrs. Schultze was the daughter of Max and Mary Facht of Sacramento, and the sister of Bonnie Semas and husband Frank of Fairfield and Michael Facht of Sacramento.
Remembrances may be made to the Shyrl Schultze Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Joseph Kerr Middle School, 8865 Elk Grove Blvd., Elk Grove, CA 95624.
Arrangements were by South East Lawn Mortuary, Elk Grove.

Merle Bettis
A memorial service will take place Saturday, April 16 for Merle Victor Bettis who died March 30, 2005 at the age of 42 in Reno.
Mr. Bettis was born in Susanville Nov. 14, 1962 and attended school at Charles Mack Elementary, James Rutter Middle and Valley High schools. He moved back to Susanville for his senior year of high school.
He was a Giants fan, avid golfer, bowler and three-league player for softball. He was a member of the Sierra Sage Golf Club, NNGA, and a regular player at the Steve Hopkins golf tournament.
Mr. Bettis was preceded in death by his mother Janice, and grandparents Jesse and Edna.
He is survived by his father Larry Bettis Sr., brothers Larry Bettis Jr. and wife Julie and Jim Bettis and wife Staci all of Elk Grove; nieces Erin, Krissi and husband Ernie and Lolli; nephews David, Dylan and Isaac; girlfriend Michele Young and best friends Jose and Ralph.
Saturday’s services will begin at noon at the South Sacramento Moose Lodge, 8156 Florin Road, Sacramento. Interment was in Diamond Crest Cemetery in Susanville.
Remembrances may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 3841 N. Freeway Blvd., Suite 185, Sacramento, CA 95834.

Amelia Lambert
Amelia Lambert, an Elk Grove resident for 70 years, died on Tuesday, April 5, 2005. She was 93.
Lambert was born April 1, 1912 in Long Lake, South Dakota and moved to Elk Grove in 1935. She had two husbands: Ted Ehresman and Lester Lambert, and was the loving mother of seven children: Melvin Ehresman, Leroy, Lucille Smoot, Gilbert Ehresman, Walter, Larry and Ruth Kennedy. From her children, Lambert became the grandmother of 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Lambert was also the sister of Elvin Feickert.
Funeral services were scheduled for Monday, April 11, and arranged at South East Lawn Mortuary.

Keith Wayne Mc Connell
Keith Wayne Mc Connell passed away in Placerville at the age of 39, as the result of a motorcycle accident on April 2.
A native of Sacramento, Mc Connell attended Mariemont Elementary School, Arden Middle School and graduated from Rio Americana High School. He also attended Sierra College and Cosumnes River College.
He was in the army for seven years and served in Desert Storm, and worked as an electrical designer contractor with The Allegis Group for the Campbell Soup Co.
He was the father of Linda and Megan Mc Connell, son of Tyke and Nelda Mc Connell, brother of Troy and Wade Mc Connell and a grandson of Virginia Drews and Elna Ammermann.
He is survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A funeral service was held for Mc Connell at the East Lawn Memorial Park Chapel, 4300 Folsom Blvd., in Sacramento on April 8 at 10 a.m.
Donations can be made in Mc Connell’s honor to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes

Edythe Cutting
Funeral services will take place Friday, Aug. 4 for Edythe May Cutting, a longtime resident of Elk Grove who died July 24, 2006 at the age of 95.
Mrs. Cutting was born Jan. 9, 1911 in Hawley, Okla. where she grew up, graduating from Consolidated High School in 1927. She attended the  Oklahoma College for Women and spent four years teaching in the state’s rural elementary schools.
She and Dr. Leland H. Kepford were married on Jan. 25, 1935, and had one son, Leland Kepford Jr. who was born April 20, 1936. The marriage ended in divorce in 1952.
Education was a passion with Mrs. Cutting who graduated from Northwestern State College in Alva, Okla. in 1947. She then taught 10 years in elementary and junior high schools in  Oklahoma before coming to California in 1954 where she attended Sacramento State University and later an extension of the University of Nevada. She taught for 18 years in the Sacramento City Unified School District.
In 1956 Edythe and Edward Cutting were married and lived in Sacramento until 1966 when they built their retirement home in Elk Grove. After retirement she continued to do volunteer work for the Elk Grove Library and the south Sacramento Kaiser Health Clinic.
Mrs. Cutting was preceded in death by her husband Edward in May 1973 and son Leland in November 1975.
She is survived by her grandchildren Edward L. Kepford and wife Lisa and Stephen H. Kepford and wife Jennifer all of Tulsa, Okla., and Kristine Kepford Buckingham and husband Kenneth of Austin,  Texas; daughter-in-law Diane Kepford of Bartlesville, Okla.; and seven great-grandchildren.
A closed casket visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Friday at South East Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 9189 East Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove. Friday’s services will follow at 10 a.m. with interment immediately following in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1765 Challenge Way, Suite 115, Sacramento, CA 95815.
