Clinton Owens
Clinton P. Owens, a 60-year resident of the Sacramento area died July 1, 2007 at the age of 85.
Mr. Owens was born in Missouri and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired as a supervisor from Hunt-Wesson Foods after 24 years with the company.
He was preceded in death by his wife Zella and son Phil Owens.
Mr. Owens is survived by sons William Owens and John Owens and wife Veneita all of Sacramento, and Joe Owens and wife Sally of Somerset; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of Bud Owens and wife Norma of Missouri.
Funeral services took place July 6 in the chapel at East Lawn Elk Grove Mortuary, Elk Grove.

Kenneth Boll
Kenneth Boll, a 31-year resident of Elk Grove, died in Elk Grove June 28, 2007 at the age of 64.
Mr. Boll was born in Minnesota and graduated from McClatchy High School in Sacramento in 1961. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, a volunteer for the Wilton Fire Department for nine years, and worked at McClellan Air Force Base for 36 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Stella Boll, and brother Glendale Boll.
Mr. Boll is survived by his wife of 41 years Kathy Boll; children Kevin and Kara Boll; grandchildren Ashley and Tanner Fitzhugh; and sister Janice Nunez.
He was the uncle of Pam Grinager, Debbie Kormen and Jody Nunez, and brother-in-law of Mary Boll.
Memorial services took place July 3 in Elk Grove Funeral Chapel. Interment was in East Lawn Elk Grove Memorial Park.
Remembrances may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
Arrangements were by Elk Grove Funeral Chapel.

Raymond Balliet
Memorial services will take place today (Wednesday) for Raymond Balliet, a native and lifelong resident of Elk Grove, who died July 6, 2007 at the age of 82.
Mr. Balliet retired as a vending machine serviceman from the Canteen Vending Corp. after 28 years. He was a former member of Willow Rancho Baptist Church and a current member of First Baptist Church of Elk Grove.
He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret ‘Peggy’ Balliet who died in July 1992, daughter Donna Taggart, brother James Balliet and sister Alice Balliet-Cox.
Mr. Balliet is survived by his daughter Linda Ranslow and husband Randy of Elk Grove; son Steven Balliet and wife Kimra of Clovis; and grandchildren Kevin Ranslow and wife Erin, Gregory Ranslow and wife Jamie, Shawn Ranslow and wife Pam, Nickolas Balliet, Kristine Balliet, Alexander Balliet, Gianna Balliet and Kenny Taggart.
Today’s services begin at 1 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, 8939 East Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove. Private entombment will be in East Lawn Elk Grove Mausoleum.
Remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Arrangements were by East Lawn Elk Grove Mortuary.

Boyd Gray
Boyd Arlo Gray, a former resident of Elk Grove, died July 6, 2002 in Sacramento at the age of 77.
Mr. Gray was born Sept. 3, 1924, in Gann Valley, S.D. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II as a radar technician, and then worked for Sacramento County. Following retirement, the family moved to Dundee, Ore. in 1985, returning to California during the past year.
He was a member of the American Legion.
Mr. Gray is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bonnie Gray of Placerville; his sons, Dan Gray of Sacramento and Dale Gray of Dundee; his daughter, Robin Gray of Placerville; and two grandchildren.
He was the brother of Shurrel Grady of Elk Grove and Forrest Gray of McMinnville, Ore.
Services were held Thursday at the Chapel of the Pines, Placerville.

Margaret Jillson
Graveside services will take place today at 11 a.m. for Elk Grove native Margaret F. (Backer) Jillson, who died Dec. 21, 2002, at the age of 75.
Mrs. Jillson grew up in Elk Grove, graduating from Elk Grove High School, after which she attended the University of California, Davis. She was a lifelong rancher in Franklin, and resided in Herald for the past 10 years.
She is survived by her children, Thomas Jillson and wife Joyce of Herald and Jane Jillson of Citrus Heights; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Jillson of Corvallis, Ore. and Terry Langstone of Huntington, Ind.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Jillson was the sister of Laura Wasson of Colorado Springs and the sister-in-law of Irma Backer of Franklin.
Services will be at the Franklin Cemetery, corner of Hood-Franklin Road and Franklin Boulevard. Arrangements are by Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger.

T.J. McNulty
Memorial services will take place Saturday for T.J. McNulty, who died Feb. 8, 2003, at the age of 20.
Mr. McNulty attended both Elk Grove Elementary and Elk Grove High schools. While at the high school, he played varsity football under Coach Ed Lombardi.
For the past seven years he resided in Rio Rancho, N.M., and services were held there Feb. 12.
Associate pastor Len Brokenshire will officiate at Saturday's services, which begin at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 8701 Elk Grove-Florin Road.

Roger Johnson
Private graveside services will be held for Roger T.  Johnson of Elk Grove, who died Feb. 13, 2003, at the age of 67.
Mr.  Johnson was a civil engineer for the Water Resources Control Board, and was a member of ASCE and PECG, engineering societies. He was a baseball fan, particularly of the Dodgers and A's.
Mr.  Johnson was born in Helena, Mont., and had lived in Elk Grove for the past 27 years.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda, of Elk Grove; his daughters, Lori and husband Larry of England and Lisa and husband Terry of Sacramento; and his grandchildren, Whitney, Savannah, Gavin and Wesley.
He was the brother of Donna Brown and husband Bob of Evergreen,  Colo.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are by South East Lawn Mortuary, Elk Grove.

Joe Avis
A Mass of Christian burial will take place today for Joe F. Avis, a 33-year resident of the Franklin area of Elk Grove, who died Feb. 13, 2003.
Mr. Avis was born Sept. 19, 1937 in the Azore Islands, where he grew up and married Maria Martin. The couple moved to Los Angeles and then to Lodi.
After working for many years at dairies in Lodi, Mr. Avis opened his own dairy in Franklin 33 years ago. It is still in operation today.
He enjoyed bull fights and Portuguese celebrations, and spending time with his family. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima in Thornton.
Mr. Avis was preceded in death by his father, Manuel Avis.
He is survived by his wife, Maria of Elk Grove; his sons, Joe Avis Jr. of Galt and Tony Avis of Lodi; his grandsons, Scott and Sean Avis of Galt; and his mother, Martina Sousa of Stockton.
He was the brother of Louie and Maria Avis both of Stockton, Seveano Avis of Lodi, Amario Avis of Turlock and Fernando Avis of Hillmar.
Father Eduino Silviera will officiate at services, which begin at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Lodi. Interment will follow in Cherokee Memorial Park.
Arrangements are by Lodi Funeral Home.
