Charley Barnett
Interment will be private for Charley W. Barnett who died Nov. 2, 2003, at the age of 90.
Mr. Barnett was a World War II veteran and retired from Proctor and Gamble after 30 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Hazel, and many friends.
Arrangements are by South East Lawn Memorial Park, Elk Grove.

Robert Bugaj
Robert P. Bugaj, a seven-year resident of Elk Grove, died Oct. 28, 2003, at the age of 78.
Mr. Bugaj was a native of  Pennsylvania and worked for U.S. Steel in Pittsburg for 33 years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and bowling, and was a member of the Elk Grove Masonic Lodge No. 173, and Scottish Rite in Sacramento.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alberta Bugaj of Elk Grove; his daughters, Pauline Peterson and husband Vernon of Tracy and Becky Peterson and husband Jim of Boise, Idaho; his granddaughter Rhonda Kolb of Pleasanton; and his great-grandchildren, Nate and Jon.
Memorial services will take place Saturday, Nov. 8, for Robert P. Bugaj of Elk Grove who died Oct. 28, 2003. The services begin at 10 a.m. in Elk Grove United Methodist Church, 8986 Elk Grove Blvd.
Arrangements are by Elk Grove Funeral Chapel.

Elene Holmes
Elene E. Holmes, a former business instructor with the Elk Grove Unified School District, died March 12, 2004 in Sacramento.
Mrs. Holmes was born in Red Lodge, Montana to John and Lela Robinson. She earned her master's degree from the California State University system and taught business at both Elk Grove and Valley high schools. While with the school district she served as chairman of the California Scholarship Federation, and she was also a professor at Sacramento City College.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emerson Holmes; her second husband, Walfred Jackola; and by her parents.
Mrs. Holmes is survived by her daughter, Marsha Jean Holmes of Sacramento, and her sister, Mertis Robinson-Saarela.
Services took place March 15 at South East Lawn Mortuary, Elk Grove.
Remembrances may be made to the American Lung Association, 909-12th St., Sacramento, CA 95814.

Edna Anderson
Edna B. Anderson, who was still able to walk at age 109, died March 8, 2004 in Elk Grove. She was the Elk Grove Citizen's oldest subscriber and had lived here approximately 20 years.
Edna Barney was born Dec. 26, 1894 in El Dorado County. She was married at age 18 and had six children, all of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Anderson loved her plants, quilting, crocheting and tatting.
Services took place March 13 followed by committal at Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Mary McClintock
Mary Lorraine McClintock died April 10, 2004 in Elk Grove at the age of 84.
Mrs. McClintock was born March 13, 1920 in Springfield, Mo. and married Cecil Paul Todd June 1, 1945.
She is survived by her children, James Todd and Maree Kaltenthaler both of southern California, and Shirley Chapman of Elk Grove; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. McClintock was the sister of Lou Schulte of Iowa and Gladys Hrzenak of Kansas.

Dennis Flint Jr.
A celebration of the life of Dennis Anthony (Sparky) Flint Jr. of Elk Grove will take place Saturday, July 24. Mr. Flint, 33, died July 12, 2004 in a motorcycle accident.
Mr. Flint was born June 29, 1971 in Heidelberg, Germany where his father was stationed with the U.S. Army. He grew up in Elk Grove, attending Anna Kirchgator and Elk Grove High schools.
He was a general contractor for 10 years as owner of TKO Construction. He was a member of E Clampus Vitus and was a motorcycle enthusiast.
"He will be dearly missed. The world will be a worse place without him," said his father.
Mr. Flint is survived by his parents, Dennis Flint Sr. of Elk Grove and Linda Edwards and husband Greg of Carmichael; his sister Angela Flint and brothers, Paul and Jeremy Edwards all of Carmichael.
Saturday's services begin at 1 p.m. in Celebration Church, 5736 North Ave., Carmichael. A reception at the church will follow the service.

Gail Ann Hall
Gail Ann Hall of Elk Grove died July 13, 2004 at home after a battle with cancer.
She was born June 14, 1937, in Sacramento and grew up there, graduating from McClatchy High School in 1955 and then attending Sacramento City College.
She married John Hall in 1956 and moved to southern California for the next 26 years, then to Redmond, Wash. for 17 years and finally to Elk Grove.
She was a member of PEO, Chapter EQ of Sacramento and Chapter HR of Redmond.
Mrs. Hall is survived by her husband of almost 48 years, John of Elk Grove; her children, Scott Hall and wife Patty, Cindy McDonald and husband Larry and Kathleen De Valk and husband David; and her grandchildren, Corey Hall, Andy Hall, Jenna De Valk, Clayton De Valk, Deanna De Valk, Logan McDonald and Kyle McDonald.
She was the daughter of Lester R. Daniels. Other survivors include aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A funeral liturgy was held July 17 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church followed by interment in East Lawn Memorial Park.
Arrangements were by Elk Grove Funeral Chapel.

Gene Ogle
Gene Ogle, a 15-year resident of Elk Grove, died July 16, 2004 at the age of 86. He was a native and former resident of Waterville, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry Lynn Burns.
Mr. Ogle is survived by his wife of 18 years, Lynn Ogle; his children, Sharol Gaither and husband Joe and Gary Ogle and wife Mar Jo; and stepchildren, Karen Kent and husband Gary, Michael Renaud, Diane Triana and Garth Renaud and wife Suzanne.
He was the brother of Eva Abbott; grandfather of Brad, Sherry, Karen, Tom, Felice, Brace, April, Aaron and Alyssa; and great-grandfather of nine.
Funeral services took place Tuesday in Elk Grove Funeral Chapel.
Memorial services followed Wednesday in Spokane, Wash., with interment in Fairmont Memorial Park.

Dr. Charlotte Barnes
Charlotte Barnes, Ed.D., a longtime educator with the Elk Grove Unified School District, died Sept. 16, 2004 at the age of 81.
She taught in the district before becoming a principal, first at Samuel Kennedy and then at James McKee elementary schools, retiring from the latter.
Dr. Barnes didn't receive her degrees until she had raised her sons; then she returned to college and earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from Sacramento State College and her doctorate from the University of the Pacific, Stockton.
She was born in Sacramento and grew up there and in the state of Montana. Following her retirement, she wrote and published a book about her experiences in that state, I'll Always Remember Montana. She also kept busy in retirement by writing community interest stories for the Elk Grove Citizen and the Sacramento Bee.
She was a member of the Elk Grove Book Club.
Dr. Barnes is survived by her husband of 62 years, Walter Barnes Sr. of Elk Grove; her sons, Walter Barnes Jr. and wife Linda of Sacramento and Mark Barnes, Ph.D., and wife Karen of Marietta, Ga.; and her grandchildren, Matthew, Daniel, Kelly, Susannah, Michael and Roberto.
She was the sister of Dorothy May of North Highlands. She also leaves behind many friends and special caregiver Shahnaz Parker.
Funeral services were held Monday at South East Lawn Mortuary with interment at South East Lawn Memorial Park, Elk Grove.
Remembrances may be made to The Alzheimer's Aid Society of Northern California, P.O. Box 1824, Sacramento, CA 95812.
