Charlotte Bobisud
Graveside services will be today, Friday, for Charlotte (Mitchell) Bobisud, a former resident of Wilton who died Oct. 1, 2004 in Grass Valley following a long battle with cancer.
Mrs. Bobisud was born May 25, 1946 and graduated from Norte Del Rio High School in Sacramento. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Sacramento State College, and served in the military with the U.S. Air Force.
An Arabian horse breeder and trainer, she was a former president and secretary of the Arabian Horse Association of Northern California.
Mrs. Bobisud is survived by her parents, John and Evelyn Mitchell of Grass Valley; and her daughters, Crista Bobisud also of Grass Valley and Robyn Bobisud of Davis.
She was the sister of Doug Mitchell and wife Carla Woodside-Mitchell of Nevada City, and Mary Robertson and husband Brad of Galt. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Today's services begin at 1 p.m. at the Loney Sanford Cemetery, McCourtney Road, Grass Valley. Remembrances may be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 12399 Nevada City Hwy., Nevada City, CA 95959.
Arrangements are by Hooper and Weaver Mortuary, Nevada City.

Dennis Daly
A celebration of the life of James Dennis Daly will take place Tuesday, Dec. 21 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at the S.E.S. Hall, 10427 East Stockton Blvd. Mr. Daly, a longtime Elk Grove resident, died Nov. 30, 2004 from the complications of Alzheimer's disease.
He was born Dec. 1, 1926 in Bakersfield to James W. and Eunice (Emerson) Daly, who were longtime residents and descendants of California pioneers in Kern County. He grew up in Bakersfield, attending high school there and Bakersfield Jr. College before joining the U.S. Navy in 1945. He served in the Pacific as a signalman and quartermaster.
After his discharge in 1946, Mr. Daly attended Cal Poly Institute in San Luis Obispo, graduating in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Husbandry.
On June 18, 1948 he married Marjorie Howard.
The family came to Elk Grove in September 1959 where Mr. Daly went to work for the family-owned company, A.L. Gilbert Co. of Oakdale. He was the northern field man and formed a lasting relationship with California agriculture and FFA programs.
Mr. Daly was a former member of the Elk Grove Lions Club, the Sacramento County Dairy Herd Improvement Association, the California Cattlemen's Association and S.E.S. Council No. 76. Both he and his wife enjoyed square dancing and belonged to the Rhythm Reelers, and following retirement, the two enjoyed traveling and scuba diving.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marjorie of Elk Grove; children, Eileen Haas and husband Bill of Bend, Ore., Bill Daly and wife Maryann Weststeyn of Turlock, and Paula Maita and husband Frank of Elk Grove; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Daly was the brother of Charles M. Daly of Bakersfield.
Remembrances may be made to the California FFA Center Fund, P.O. Box 1225, Arroyo Grande, CA 93420.

Esther Marie Williams
Esther Marie Williams died Aug. 19, 2006 at the age of 86 in Elk Grove.
Mrs. Williams was born March 4, 1920 in Roscoe, South Dakota. She was a member of the Elk Grove Senior Center and Writer’s Club. She will be remembered for her talents as a writer and an artist, along with dancing with her friends and her love of animals.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Williams, daughter Patricia Guthmiller, and nine sisters.
Mrs. Williams is survived by her daughter Marie Froehlich of Elk Grove; her grandchildren Terri Graham, Alan Guthmiller, Heidi Bates, Kristy Froehlich, Jill Froehlich, Heidi Arellano, and her numerous great-grandchildren, including her “princesses” Olivia and Hannah.
She was the sister of Herman Voegele of Sacramento and Lenhardt Voegele of South Dakota, along with Matilda Keisz and Anna Geohrig of South Dakota.
Memorial visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. for Mrs. Williams on Aug. 24, and funeral services will be held for her at 10 a.m. on Aug. 25 at the South East Lawn Mortuary at 9189 East Stockton Blvd.

Jenny  Washington-Sundberg
Jenny  Washington-Sundberg, a three-year Elk Grove resident, died Aug. 17, 2006 at the age of 29.
She is survived by her daughters Michaelah  Washington and Madison Williams-Sundberg; her parents Alan and Patti Sundberg; her siblings Ailisa Franklin (Robert), Reid Sundberg (Sue), and Shawn Sundberg (Megan); and her grandparents Byron and Barbra Sundberg, and Donna Larsen.
A memorial service was held Aug. 22 for her at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Elk Grove with funeral arrangements made by the Elk Grove Funeral Chapel.

Dorothy E. Epling
Dorothy E. Epling, a longtime resident of the Sacramento area, died Aug.18, 2006 at the age of 90.
The Stockton native lived in Sacramento County for 61 years and retired as an account clerk for the California State Department of Social Services.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Wallace Epling who died in November 2000.
Mrs. Epling is survived by her children Karen Epling of Sacramento and Hank Epling (Vicki) of Sebastopol; her grandchildren Jason Epling (Stacie) of Galt, Debbie Shrull (Jim) of Los Banos, Sara Hanes (Colby) of Oakley and Jereome Epling of Winters; and her six great-grandchildren and adopted granddaughter Marian Stovall of Sacramento.
She was the aunt of Richard Boddy (Pam) of Sacramento and Kathy Penberthy (Phil) of Stockton.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date by the South East Lawn Mortuary. Memorials are suggested to a favorite charity of the donor’s choice in her memory.

Esther Voos
Esther B. Voos, who was honored by her family this spring on the occasion of her 100th birthday, died Aug. 15, 2006.
Mrs. Voos was born April 28, 1906 in McClusky, N.D. to Daniel and Barbara Schaeffer. She was one of 10 children, all of whom preceded her in death.
The family came to Elk Grove in 1919 and Mrs. Voos attended Franklin Union Grammar School. She married Enoch (Bud) Schultz in 1928. He died in 1958 and she moved back to Elk Grove with her sister and brother-in-law Ruth and Jim Andrews, owners of the Elk Grove Variety Store. Mrs. Voos spent 20 years in retail sales, and wound up working in the variety store from which she retired.
In 1961 she married Henry Voos and the couple enjoyed traveling and retirement in general until his death in 1990.
Mrs. Voos is survived by her son Boyd Schultz of Fresno; stepchildren Melvin Voos and wife Penny of Montana, Charlotte Yount and husband Lee of Elk Grove and Mary Ellen  White and husband Neil of Cameron Park; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services were Monday at South East Lawn Memorial Park, Elk Grove, and memorial services, also on Monday, were at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Elk Grove. Remembrances may be made to the church at 8701 Elk Grove-Florin Rd., Elk Grove, CA 95624. Arrangements were by South East Lawn Mortuary.

Marilyn Standley
A celebration of the life of Marilyn Jean (Venn) Standley will take place Saturday, Oct. 21. Mrs. Standley died Oct. 15, 2006.
She was born July 26, 1930 in Battle Creek, Mich. to Garnet and Bessie Venn, the youngest of seven children. In 1953 she married a Battle Creek native, Dr. Thomas Standley and moved to Ukiah where they raised four children. Dr. Standley died in 1976.
Mrs. Standley is survived by her children, Elice King of Bluffton, Ohio, Mark Standley of Elk Grove, Laurel Heintz of Roseville and Kent Standley of Willetts; sister Frances Angell of Lady Lake, Fla.; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Saturday’s celebration will begin at noon in Mrs. Standley’s garden at 9123 Grove St. An additional service is planned in Michigan next summer.
Arrangements are by South East Lawn Mortuary, Elk Grove.

Mark Macres
Mark Macres, a founding vice principal of Monterey Trail High School, died Feb. 28, 2007. Born on May 23, 1955, he was 51. Macres had battled cancer for 14 months.
Macres is survived by his wife, Jackie Macres of Elk Grove; sons, Christopher and Blake, of Elk Grove; and close friend Megan Harbeck, also of Elk Grove.
Mark was preceeded in death by his father, Stephen Macres Sr., and his brother, Michael Macres. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Ellen Libero and his step-father Vince Libero, both of Lincoln Hills; brother Greg Macres, of Granite Bay, and brother Stephen Macres, of Carmichael.
Mark is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends, including step-mother Janet O’Brian; father-in-law Ori DiBenedetto and wife Betty; and mother-in-law Dorthy Kirkman and husband Gilbert.
A celebration of Mark’s life is scheduled for 3 p.m., Saturday, March 10, at Monterey Trail High School, 8661 Power Inn Road. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Mark Macres Memorial Scholarship. Checks should be made to “EGUSD” and mailed to Monterey Trail High School, attention Carol Parrish.
