June Bjorge
Memorial services will take place today (Wednesday) for June Ann Bjorge of Wilton who died July 12, 2007.
Mrs. Bjorge, 50, was born in Sacramento and lived in the Elk Grove area all of her life.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years Richard F. ‘Rick’ Bjorge of Wilton; stepchildren Chrisy Cramer and husband Glen of Sloughhouse and David Bjorge of Sacramento; stepgrandchildren Miles and Brett Cramer of Sloughhouse; and parents Marlys and James Pulcifer of Elk Grove.
Mrs. Bjorge was the sister of James L. Pulcifer Jr. of Elk Grove, Janet Will and husband Norman of Gridley and Joyce Wells and husband Danny of Sacramento. She was the aunt of D.J. Wells and wife Layne, Damon Wells and wife Megan and Katie Will.
Today’s services begin at 10 a.m. in the chapel of East Lawn Elk Grove Mortuary, 9189 East Stockton Blvd. Cremation is private.

Norma Cervantes
Services will be held Friday, July 20 for Norma V. Plascencia Cervantes of Elk Grove who died July 14, 2007 at the age of 59.
Mrs. Cervantes was born Nov. 17, 1947 in Bakersfield to Ramon Plascencia and Gregoria Fierro Plascencia. She grew up in Delano, graduating from high school there, and then attended Bakersfield College and received her Associate of Arts degree from Fresno City College. She studied public health at California State University, Fresno, and home economics at California State University, Sacramento.
Norma Plascencia and Robert Cervantes were married on Sept. 20, 1969 in Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Delano. She stayed at home to raise her children, and also worked for several years as a fundraiser for the Leukemia Society and later as administrative assistant to the UC Davis Medical Center Associate Director for Clinical Affairs.
Mrs. Cervantes was preceded in death by her father Ramon Plascencia in 1981 and brother Raul Plascencia in 1993.
She is survived by her husband Robert Cervantes of Elk Grove; children Dr. Andrea R. Cervantes and husband Steve Foss of Wilton and Roberto P. Cervantes and wife Trina of Rancho Cordova; grandchildren Santiago, Mateo and Yesenia Cervantes; mother Gloria Placencia of Sacramento and sister Mary Yolanda Placencia of Elk Grove.
Mrs. Cervantes also leaves behind niece Denise Romero, nephews Eric and Garey Placencia and sister-in-law all of Bakersfield.
A rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 32890 South River Road, Clarksburg, followed by a Mass of the Resurrection. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Elk Grove. Pallbearers are Eric Placencia, Garey Placencia, David Alcaras, Andrew Coker, Louie P. Cervantes and Roberto P. Cervantes.

Ruby Betts
Funeral services will take place Saturday for Ruby F. Betts, a 40-year resident of Wilton who died July 29, 2002 at the age of 95. She was a native of  Oklahoma.
Mrs. Betts was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Edgar Betts.
She is survived by her children, Betty Lou Wold and Jack Betts and wife Doreen of Wilton, Wanda Hobbs of Los Gatos, Martha Pakos and husband Dick of Fair Oaks and Ed Betts and wife Lana of Sacramento.
Mrs. Betts was the grandmother of Kenneth, Steven, Mark, Stephany, Jaqueline, Jane, Rick, Rebecca, Kathleen, Allen, Jeff, Kris and Michelle; and great-grandmother of Richie, Colleen, Shawn, Kyle, Dylan, Daniel, Rob, Laura, Connell, Trevor, Steven, Dallas, Demi, Marij, Daniel, Justine and Macy.
Visitation is today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Elk Grove Funeral Chapel, 9101 Elk Grove Blvd. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday in Country Oaks Baptist Church, corner of Bond and Bradshaw roads. Private interment is in Sacramento Memorial Lawn.

William Lawton
Rev. William Joseph Lawton of Elk Grove, retired Methodist minister, died July 28, 2002, following a long illness.
Rev. Lawton was born May 21, 1930, in Belleville, Ill. to Joseph and Edna Lawton. He was a graduate of Chapman University in Orange and Berkeley Baptist Divinity School in Berkeley. He was an ordained minister of the United Methodist Church, serving that denomination for 32 years.
During his ministry Rev. Lawton served seven Methodist churches in Northern California. He was also a member of Amador Masonic Lodge No. 65.
Rev. Lawton is survived by his wife, Jean of Elk Grove; his daughter, Pamela Wyman of Fair Oaks; his son, Robert Lawton of Elk Grove and five grandchildren.
He was the brother of June Richey of Sutter Creek and Lee Lawton of Olalla, Wash.
Services were held Wednesday at Florin United Methodist Church. Remembrances may be made to the church at 7560 Florin Rd., Sacramento, CA 95823 or to the American Cancer Society, 1765 Challenge Way, Suite 115, Sacramento, CA 95815.

Valeriano L. Galiste
Valeriano L. Galiste passed away in Elk Grove Aug. 9, 2002, at the age of 88.
Mr. Galiste, a native of the Philippines, was a resident of Walnut Grove for 56 years. He is survived by his children: Richard Galiste of Stockton, Carol  White and Stephanie Galiste of Tracy, Dorsey Logan and Johnnie Galiste of Sacramento; six grandchildren: Derrick, Ashley, Victor, Valierie, Elizabeth and Samantha; and two great-grandchildren Megan and Zachary; a brother, Eusibio Galiste of Walnut Grove; and a nephew, Teofilio Galiste, who resides in Lodi.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Aug. 17 at 10 a.m. at the Elk Grove Funeral Chapel, 9101 Elk Grove Boulevard. Interment will be private.

James Gratterola
James Gratterola of Elk Grove passed away Aug 10, 2002.
A native of Fresno, Mr. Gratterola was 80 years old. He had been a resident of Elk Grove for six years.
He is survived by his children, Betty Mullins and husband James of Elk Grove, and Ronal Gratterola of Rocklin; and three grandchildren: Lisa Gallagher Wilke, Brian Gallagher and Patrick Mullins.
Following his wishes, no services will be held. Interment in Elk Grove District Cemetery will be private. Arrangements have been made by Elk Grove Funeral Chapel.

Vincent Montane
Funeral services will take place today for Vincent Montane of Elk Grove, who died March 11, 2003, as a result of injuries suffered in an auto accident March 1. Mr. Montane, 50, was on his bicycle when a pickup and car collided, throwing him against a concrete light standard. He was admitted to UC Davis Medical Center, where he remained in a coma until his death.
Mr. Montane worked for the state of California for more than 25 years, most recently as communications director for the State Lottery Commission. Other positions included regional manager for the governor's Office of Emergency Services and chief of staff to Senator Alfred Alquist.
He was born in Massachusetts and grew up in San Jose. The family moved to Elk Grove about 15 years ago, and Mr. Montane became active in the community, serving as vice chairman of the Franklin/Laguna Area Community Planning Advisory Council. He liked to photograph and write articles about the historic structures in Elk Grove, many of which appeared in local publications.
Mr. Montane is survived by his wife, Renay, and his son, Jeffrey of Elk Grove; his brother, Sal Montane and wife Sherri; and his nephews, Andy and Sammy all of Mariposa.
Services will begin today at 1 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Elk Grove, 8939 East Stockton Blvd. Remembrances may be made to the UC Davis Medical Facility.

Vivian De Correau
Vivian C. De Correau, a former resident of Elk Grove, died in Auburn March 9, 2003, following a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 22, 1917, the second of seven children. After graduating in the top three of her class, she worked for a few years before moving in 1945 to Sacramento, where she was night supervisor at Western Union, then office manager for Vita-Freeze Ice Cream Company.
In 1956 she went to work for the state of California in the Department of Employment, where she stayed until retiring in 1981. During that time she moved to Elk Grove in 1974.
According to her daughter, Mrs. De Correau decided after six months of retirement she was too young, so she went back to work, this time for the Elk Grove Answering Service, where she stayed until retiring again. She moved to Auburn about 10 years ago.
Mrs. De Correau is survived by two daughters, Alana (Loni) Kalb of Elk Grove and Marlys (Marty) Ralphs and husband Bob of Lincoln; six grandchildren, Deborah (Muir) Brock of Virginia, Richard Kruse of Elk Grove and Scott Parker, Kristi Soop, Lori Sheek and Lacey Ralphs all of Lincoln; and 15 great-grandchildren. Her first great-great-grandchild is due this month.
No services were held at her request.

Martha Robertson
Martha (Marty) Robertson, former teacher and longtime resident of the Wilton/Elk Grove area, died March 9, 2003, after a brief illness. She was 81.
Mrs. Robertson was born in Meyersdale, Pa. She and her late husband, Walter (Bull) Robertson lived in Elk Grove for approximately 50 years. Both worked for the Elk Grove Unified School District; he as a football coach. She taught math at Joseph Kerr Middle and Franklin Elementary schools.
Mrs. Robertson was a volunteer, both at the Elk Grove Library and as a Braille transcriber. In August of last year she moved to Galt.
She is survived by her sister, Barbara Rukovina of Maryland; and her nieces and nephews, Cynthia Anderson, Patricia Cohen, Cory Williams and Matt Williams. She was a close friend of the Bob Stetson family, formerly of Elk Grove and now of Galt.
At her request, no services were held. Remembrances may be made to the Sacramento Braille Transcribers, 2791 24th St., Sacramento, CA 95828.
Arrangements were by South East Lawn Mortuary, Elk Grove.
